Cee Lo Green pleads no contest to giving woman Ecstasy, avoids jail

Singer Cee Lo Green avoided jail time Friday after pleading no contest to one felony count of furnishing Ecstasy to a woman while dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant, prosecutors said.

The 38-year-old former judge on NBC's "The Voice," whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Calloway, entered the plea on the day his preliminary hearing was scheduled to begin.

Green was sentenced to three years' formal probation, 360 hours of community service and ordered to complete 52 Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

He's due back in court in March for a progress report.

Green was accused of giving a 33-year-old woman Ecstasy, a drug also known as Molly, at the Wokcano restaurant in July 2012.

A Los Angeles police investigation began shortly after the woman reported to authorities that Green put the drug in her drink as they dined together. The woman, who has not been named, told investigators she woke up to find herself naked in a bed with the singer in her hotel room.

But after two rounds of investigations by the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division, prosecutors declined to file any sex-related charges against Green, citing a lack of evidence.

Green’s attorney, Blair Berk, described the interaction between Green and the woman as "consensual relations."

Sources familiar with the investigation said Green allegedly acknowledged providing the woman the drug in a documented telephone call after the incident.

Before a court appearance last year, Berk said the singer was "pleased" with the prosecutors' decision not to file any sex charges.

"Cee Lo had faith that if true facts were known, the district attorney would reject those charges," Berk said of the sex assault case.

You can't claim consent if you drug someone against their will, UGH.

Is Reese Witherspoon heading for Oscar #2? Reviews for Wild are IN...

Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and director Jean-Marc Vallee bring Cheryl Strayed's best-selling memoir to life on screen
Many directors specialize in one genre, but Vallee has plunged into wildly disparate arenas. He went from a coming-of-age story called C.R.A.Z.Y to a lush historical epic, The Young Victoria. Last year’s Oscar-winning film, Dallas Buyers Club, explored a little-known part of the history of the AIDS epidemic. Now in Wild, based on a best-selling memoir by Cheryl Strayed, Vallee has crafted a vivid wilderness adventure film that is also a powerful story of family anguish and survival. All of these films focus on very strong-willed individuals, but the completely different worlds they bring to life testify to an astute directorial hand.
Vallee’s latest offering is alternately harrowing and heartbreaking, but laced with saving bursts of humor. The popularity of Strayed’s book and the strong performance by Reese Witherspoon should ensure an audience for the movie and bring more accolades to the director, as well as to screenwriter Nick Hornby (About a Boy, An Education), who adapts the book with finesse
Dallas Buyers Club earned Oscars for both its lead and supporting actors, and it’s conceivable that the new film could repeat the trick for two actresses.
Witherspoon transforms herself both physically and emotionally into this hardened yet needy young woman seeking to re-invent herself after a series of personal tragedies. She chose this marathon hike almost on a whim, and she was completely unprepared for the challenges. As Strayed wrote in her book, “I hadn’t factored in my lack of fitness, nor the genuine rigors of the trail, until I was on it.” Witherspoon captures all the conflicting, dizzying emotions that the adventure stirs in her.
Witherspoon is matched by Laura Dern, who plays her mother, Bobbi, an inspiring life force who is stricken with a devastating medical diagnosis
it’s really Dern who tears at our emotions during her scenes with Witherspoon. Bobbi’s life journey, cut tragically short by illness, is as compelling as Cheryl’s. This is one of the most honest, complex portrayals of a mother-daughter relationship that we’ve seen in any recent movie, and the loss of her mother helps to explain Cheryl’s utter disorientation and her search for a major challenge to bring her back to life.
Inevitably a film like this is going to be episodic, but the adventures that Cheryl has on the trail are always startling, from her encounters with wildlife to the nightmare of a freak snowstorm. Yet the human encounters also enrich her journey, and here Hornby’s ability to bring minor characters to life and Vallee’s fine work with an extraordinary supporting cast make all of these episodes richly compelling. The director is helped by the exceptional cinematography of Yves Belanger, who takes us through varied landscapes from the scorching Mojave desert to the imposing mountains of northern California and Oregon.
The film remains equally compelling during the flashbacks.
Witherspoon doesn’t shy away from showing the dark sides of Cheryl’s character — her surrender to sexual excesses and drug addiction. Her battle for survival began a long time before she hit the wilderness trail, so her journey illuminates a whole series of internal as well as external struggles. Witherspoon’s inherent appeal keeps us on Cheryl’s side even through her self-destructive exploits, but there’s nothing sentimental about the actress’s tart portrayal.

Jean-Marc Vallée's adaptation of the bestselling hiking tale has beautiful visuals and a great central performance, but doesn't trust those ingredients to carry the story.
It comes as no surprise that the movie version, starring Reese Witherspoon and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée from a script by British novelist Nick Hornby, hits plenty of poignant notes.
But despite the powerful elements of Strayed's real-life experiences, "Wild" goes out of its way to overstate the built-in sentimentalism
The result is two solid movies at odds with each other: a gentle ode to the wonders of the natural world and a more traditional account of a nervous breakdown.
At its center, however, Witherspoon excels as a committed figure battling through each rough day. So long as the action remains on the trail, Vallée stages an engaging survivalist tale that plays up the resolve on Witherspoon's face, complemented with the rich visuals of an expansive landscape.
"Wild" develops an emotional core from the payoffs of her recurring commitment.
Which is why it's so discouraging whenever the movie shifts to the past. The pratfalls of the "cancer movie" cliché come into play with tearful bedside moments as Strayed watches her mother fade away; other flashbacks to her childhood, when she coped with an abusive father, feel extraneous. The movie gives us too much information when the journey speaks for itself.
But even the contemporary scenes meander in parts, as hikes have a tendency to do, with throwaway moments including a random roadside encounter with a pushy journalist and another loose thread involving a possible sexual assailant in the woods. However, as with "Dallas Buyers Club," Vallée laces his conventional plot with snazzy music cues (Simon & Garfunkel's "El Condor Pasa (If I Could)" resonates particularly on several occasions) that smooth over a lot of the bumps along the way.
If nothing else, "Wild" offers a first-rate advertisement for the purifying abilities of the great outdoors. (PCT enthusiasts are likely to be pleased.) Cinematographer Yves Bélanger — who last captured the poetic depths of the American desert in Gus Van Sant's far more minimalist "Gerry" — develops a rich green-and-brown palette to match the lyrical relationship that Strayed develops with her surroundings.
"Wild" is so enamored with its setting that the story can feel like an intrusion. The journey is much more compelling than the reasons behind it. There's little in the way of shock or surprise about the drama that put Strayed on the trail, but the same could be said about the reasons for making a movie about it.

ITS SOAP NEWS FRIDAY!!!!!!!

Were Tom Welling, Gale Harold, Jason Lewis and Dylan Bruce Almost nu-Adam On Y&R?!

Fans of The Young and the Restless are ecstatic that actor Justin Hartley is returning to daytime television to take on the role of presumed dead bad boy Adam Newman. But while the former soap star’s casting seems spot on, Hartley wasn’t the only contender for the role.

On Friday, Soap Opera Network revealed that several famous faces were in the running for the buzzy role of the Genoa City troublemaker. According to talent manager Michael Bruno, Jason Lewis, Gale Harold, Dylan Bruce, and Tom Welling were all on the short list for the part.

When asked how the show managed to land Hartley, Bruno said, "They are obsessed, not just that show, with primetime fallen names. I felt bad for Judy Wilson ['Y&R' casting director]. She’s a great casting director, who’s such a hard worker, and yet they expect her to get a primetime name and work for a dollar. And so it’s very difficult to find that.

But they had feelers out for fallen nighttime names. Tom Welling from Smallville, also Queer as Folk's Gale Harold, and Jason Lewis from Sex and the City."

While Hartley also has an impressive resume of primetime work under his belt, he told TV Guide he looks forward to getting back to daytime TV.

Melissa Archer Joins DAYS!

“Days of Our Lives” has been in the news a lot lately. Kassie DePaiva joined the show earlier this year and has been actively airing throughout the summer. Her character Eve is causing trouble all over Salem.

According to an August 26 report from Soap Opera Digest, Melissa Archer has joined “Days of Our Lives.” Archer has already been filming scenes, but there is no word on her character details or the length of her contract.

This is exciting news for both “Days of Our Lives” fans and viewers who also watched “One Life to Live.” Kassie DePaiva played Blair Kramer and Melissa Archer played Natalie Buchanan on the now-canceled soap.

It appears that these two will reconnect in Salem as well. Archer was also appearing in the web-based soap “Beacon Hill.” DePaiva tweeted a photo of Archer and herself on the set of “Days of Our Lives” earlier today.

Fans have been commenting about their excitement for Melissa Archer since the news broke.

Eileen Davidson Pulls a Daytime Double on Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives!

When you have this much talent, you just have to spread it around. This fall, Emmy-winning soap sensation Eileen Davidson will find herself in the enviable and unprecedented position of playing juicy, front-burner roles on both NBC's Days of Our Lives and CBS's The Young and the Restless. Why such generosity of spirit on the part of rival networks? It's all about survival — and we don't mean Davidson's.

"This kind of acting opportunity would never have happened back when the daytime-drama world was really healthy," says Davidson. "Now times have changed. Soaps are trying to stay relevant. They want to stay on the air. They're willing to set aside that old competitiveness to help each other out." Besides, audiences can't possibly be confused, Davidson says. "My characters are 180 degrees apart — from the way they look to the level of their sanity."

And how. The actress recently returned to Days for a four-month run as Kristen DiMera, a psycho sexpot who is facing criminal charges for drugging and raping a Roman Catholic priest — every scandalous moment of it caught on video. (How will she redeem herself? By saving the life of one of Salem's most beloved citizens!) Davidson's double duty officially begins September 3, when she returns to Y&R with a two-year deal to play good-hearted Ashley Abbott, a brilliant cosmetics chemist with the absolute worst luck in men.

If that's not enough Davidson for you, this mother of three — married to former actor/tennis pro Vince Van Patten — has also signed on to the next season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for a reported $750,000, the highest salary ever paid to a new hausfrau in the Bravo franchise. "I don't know what you are talking about," says a not very convincing Davidson when asked about the reality-show gig. "I'm not paying much attention to anything that's been written." Maybe not, but sources say a Bravo crew has already followed Davidson to work at Y&R, with her costars asked to sign confidentiality agreements to keep it all hush-hush.

"Eileen is a phenomenal talent, and no one wants to lose her," says Y&R executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. "We fought hard to bring her back on contract because she is a huge part of our history." Adds Peter Bergman, who plays Ashley's brother, Jack. "It's just not the Abbott family without her. Who could blame Days for loving Eileen — she has a showcase there that's off the fucking charts — but we really need her over here."

Word is Ashley will return to Genoa City having developed an erotic wonder fragrance that'll drive the world mad and, for a piece of the action, she wants to share CEO duties at Jabot Cosmetics with Jack. The soap will also toy with a romantic quadrangle involving Ashley; her daughter, Abby; hunky Stitch; and pregnant Victoria.

But let's get real here. Davidson originated her role on Y&R in 1982, moved to Days in 1993, and has been back and forth a few times, not always with the best results. She consistently scores awesome material on Days — at one point, she was playing five wildly different roles, one male — while Y&R has often failed to write well for her. In fact, she was twice dropped by the CBS show, most recently in 2012. Why take the chance it'll happen again?

"It's always a crapshoot, and I'm OK with that," says Davidson, whose new agreement with Y&R stipulates that she can still appear on Days on a limited basis. "There's a big burnout factor with Kristen, who is always full-throttle. How many times can she be horribly vile and get away with it?" Ashley, on the other hand, is "more rooted, more real, someone I can play on a daily basis. Y&R said they have a great story for me. I assume it's the truth."

If not, no big deal. "I've had really good times in this business and really slow times, and it all works out," she says. "I've had a fantastic career, but I came to a big, wonderful realization a long time ago: None of this defines me."

Fred Willard Guest Stars on The Bold and the Beautiful!

The Bold and the Beautiful...and the hilarious? Comedy great Fred Willard has been set for a four-episode guest appearance on the hit CBS soap opera playing John Forrester, younger brother of fashion king Eric Forrester (John McCook). John is also the father of jewelry designer Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer), the show's new Aussie beauty who was recently brought to America by Eric to help out with the family business.

A B&B rep tells TV Guide Magazine that Willard's character is a traveling salesman-inventor and quite the party boy. He contacts Ivy while he's in the states and decides to come visit her in Los Angeles and reconnect with Eric. No word yet if Willard's character is pure comic relief or trouble in disguise!

Willard's many hit films include This is Spinal Tap, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Best in Show and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. The Second City alum and multiple Emmy nominee has also had recurring roles on Roseanne, Mad About You, King of the Hill, Everybody Loves Raymond and, currently, Modern Family, where he plays Phil Dunphy's dad, Frank.

Willard begins work at B&B Aug. 27, with his episodes set to air the first week of October.

Robin Mattson Returning To General Hospital As Heather Webber!

Alison Sweeney Back At DAYS!

Alison Sweeney who since departing her long time role as Sami Brady on Days of our Lives has been busy on the other side of the camera!

First, she recently directed an episode of General Hospital and will be returning to do future episodes, and now comes word from Alison that she is already back in Salem directing an episode of DAYS!

Today, Alison tweeted this pic with the words, "So happy 2 b back in Salem – directing! Love visiting my peeps, Lauren Koslow (Kate) and Deidre Hall (Marlena)!"

Jeffrey Vincent Parise Returns To General Hospital!

“I was excited. I felt like a boxer in training who gets the word that there’s a fight coming up!” Check out the new Digest, on sale tomorrow, for more with Parise.

OLTL's Kelly Returns To War!

In the new Universal Studios Home Entertainment release, Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire, Josh Kelly (Cutter, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) stars in a role he was made for. The son of a Naval officer and himself a former Army Ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq prior to becoming an actor, Kelly plays the team leader for a group of supply Marines that get put into a challenging combat situation.

"The movie is about Marines banding together, relying on their training, and discovering purpose behind war," he says of the sequel to the popular 2005 film based on Anthony Swofford's similarly titled book about his pre-Desert Storm experiences in the Persian Gulf. "This one takes place in Afghanistan in modern time. It has a lot to do with the Taliban and restricting women's rights... it's pretty topical."

Although it's been a decade since Kelly was a man in uniform himself, he says that his own experience doing combat operations proved useful. "It was interesting — I found my brain reverting back into team leader mode. I was becoming a lot more tactical as we were pretending to be tactical," he reveals of playing Corporal Chris Merrimette in the action-adventure film. "I pretty much became the tech advisor [on set] and made sure that everyone maintained tactical awareness."

Still being "in theater" is tough on everyone, even those who initially thought that they wanted to be in the thick of it. "Merrimette is a middle American, good guy who's got a pregnant wife at home. He's questioning whether or not he should be in the war and whether or not he's going to stay," Kelly previews. "So he is, I guess, kind of what I would've been like had I not wanted to become an actor and stayed in the military."

Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” Reaches #1 at Pop

0
0

Charli XCX reaches #1 at pop for the second time this summer as "Boom Clap" overtakes "Stay with Me."

Only two artists reached the #1 position on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart twice this summer.

One was Iggy Azalea, who appeared on the chart-topping hits “Fancy” and “Problem.”

The other is Azlaea’s “Fancy” collaborator Charli XCX, who ascends to the #1 position on the latest rolling airplay chart.

While Mediabase will not certify “Boom Clap” as an official #1 until it issues its published chart Sunday night, there is no doubt that Charli XCX’s song will hold its position until then.

“Boom Clap” commanded 15,657 pop radio spins between August 22 and 28, which bests the 15,584 earned by Sam Smith’s #2 song “Stay with Me.” Insofar as “Boom Clap” is still gaining airplay and “Stay with Me” is losing it, that margin should increase as Sunday nears.

“Boom Clap” garnered 99.71 million audience impressions during the August 22-28 period.

Brandon Flowers of The Killers has confirmed that he plans to release a new solo album in 2015. The frontman released his first solo record, 'Flamingo', in 2010 and is currently working with Sky Ferreira and Kylie Minogue producer Ariel Rechtshaid on its follow-up.

Speaking to NME, Flowers said: "The record's not done yet, but I'm excited about it... I'm liking it." He also admits that the album is less influenced by his hometown of Las Vegas than 'Flamingo' was. "People are going to interpret it how they will, but there's only a little bit of Vegas in there."

Meanwhile, on the subject of Rechtshaid, the frontman admits that their different ways of working have led to the pair butting heads. "He's taking me out of my comfort zone. Normally I make demos and they're pretty similar to how the song ends up. but he'll take a song and be like, 'I hear this'. It's incredible – his palette and his range, what he's able to say. At first we were butting our heads together, but now we're hitting it off."

The Killers released greatest hits album 'Direct Hits' in 2013. However, fans can rest assured that Flowers has no plans to end things with the band, saying: "I wanna keep being in this band. I don't think we'll get too morbid about it, I think we wanna keep going."

Earlier this month The Killers headlined V Festival in Stafford and Chelmsford – with the band covering Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy' while drummer Ronnie Vannucci performed an interpretive dance.

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story Stars Reveal Which Iconic Scenes They Loved Reenacting!

Lifetime has traveled back to the 90s with its upcoming Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story premiering on Labor Day. Discovered by the same casting director from Saved by the Bell, the actors step into the shoes of the Saturday morning show's stars to expose the behind-the-scenes antics.

Have the show's fans accepted the new crew? “It's been sort of a mixed response,” said Dylan Everett, who played Mark-Paul Gosselaar/Zack Morris. “It was sort of what we expected. There's diehard fans who love ‘Saved by the Bell’ and what it is, and they expect to see their favorite actors portray their favorite characters. So, there's a bit of a stigma there.”

Tiera Skovbye, who played Elizabeth Berkley/Jessie Spano, added, “I think a lot people don't realize that this is what happened behind the scenes. Some people think we're trying to recreate their show. We're not doing that.”

Written by Ron McGee and based on “past cast interviews and behind the scenes footage” (and not the controversial Dustin Diamond book as some wrongly believe), the movie does include some reenactments of the show's most memorable scenes.

Skovbye teased her reenactment of probably the most famous scene from the entire series. One hint.

The Cast Responds To Original Stars' Concerns!

Original series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley and Dennis Haskins have all expressed concerns about how they'll be portrayed in the flick.

But they've all assumed the film is based on Dustin Diamond's book, which Lifetime tells us is not the case. They also say Screech is not an executive producer on the flick, despite reports suggesting otherwise -- and add that the show's original casting director, Robin Lippin, worked with them for the script.

The new film's Zack and Jessie, played by Dylan Everett and Tiera Skovbye, talked to toofab's Brian Particelli before the TV movie premiere -- where they addressed the initial backlash.

"Give it a shot, you gotta watch and tune in and find out and I think people are going to be very pleasantly surprised by it," Everett says. "They're gonna walk away satisfied and it's really a love letter to the show. I think people are gonna enjoy it and walk away feeling good about it."

Michael Sam cut by Rams

The St. Louis Rams released defensive end Michael Sam on Saturday, the team announced.

Sam's efforts to become the first openly gay player in NFL history came up just short in a competition against undrafted rookie Ethan Westbrooks.

Sam officially hit waivers Saturday at 4 p.m. ET when all NFL teams had to trim their rosters down to the league-mandated 53 players. From there, the other 31 teams will have until noon ET on Sunday to put in a claim for Sam. If he goes unclaimed, he will be free to sign with a practice squad.

According to one league source, the Rams would like to bring Sam back to their 10-man practice squad.

"There will be no challenge, no challenges whatsoever," for whatever team picks up Sam, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said at a news conference.

"There's no challenge with respect to Mike Sam," Fisher said. "He's not about drawing attention to himself. He kept his head down and worked and you can't ask anything more out of any player for that matter."

Well, at least he sacked Johnny Manziel, which was worth a roster spot alone. Maybe Sam should play QB, 'cause Lord knows the Rams need one.

T.I. Says Iggy Azalea Criticism Pisses Him Off

Iggy-Azalea
T.I. is tired of people talking trash about Iggy Azalea. Tip recently expressed his thoughts on the “Fancy” singer’s naysayers, saying that if anyone has issues with her, they can take it up with him too.

“That pisses me off,” said T.I. “Simply because they don’t have any real substantial grounds. ‘I don’t like them.’ Why? ‘Just ‘cause.’ What you mean just ‘cause? Since when do you get the right to judge people? Who died and made you the emperor of Egypt? That kind of shit and then the things that they accuse her of, like the racist stuff. That’s not even her. That’s not even in her. Me knowing her, knowing where she comes from—for real, the whole racist thing, that’s American—we forget, she’s not American. So the whole Black, white, color divided thing, it isn’t a part of her DNA like it is here in America.”

He continued, “It’s just ignorant to me. In this day and age, to be a race of people who are demanding equality and speaking out on injustices and wanting to be treating fairly, to stand up and do the exact same thing in opposite to someone unwarranted for no reason, it’s hypocritical. I’ma ride with her. So, ya’ll go ahead. Anybody got a problem with it just know, it gon’ be one ‘cause I’m coming.”

Last month, T.I. denied longtime allegations of ghost-writing for Iggy. “I ain’t no ghostwriter,” T.I. told Hot 107.5 Detroit. “Iggy got her own ideas and thoughts that she presents to the world her own way. I couldn’t write a lot of the sh*t she say, you know? I couldn’t put her thoughts into words as articulate as she does. She just has a different way of presenting herself and her art.”

‘Begin Again’ Heads Back to Theaters for Awards Season

Looking for a second act, “Begin Again” will, well, begin again, with a return to theaters.

The theatrical return of the John Carney-directed musical dramedy — which stars Mark Ruffalo, Keira Knightley and Adam Levine — was announced by its distributor, The Weinstein Company, on Monday afternoon. The company told TheWrap that the movie will be in 350-400 theaters nationwide over the weekend, likely for a one-week engagement.

Pitching it as a bid for attention as awards season ramps up, TWC distribution president Erik Lomis said, “Audiences this summer fell in love with the amazing cast and soundtrack of ‘Begin Again,’ and we're thrilled that we have the chance to bring it back to the big screen and share it with more moviegoers.”

The flick stars Knightley as a fledgling musician who, after being dumped by her boyfriend (Adam Levine, in his big screen debut) as he becomes a pop star, is discovered by a burnt out music producer played by Mark Ruffalo. Mos Def, Catherine Keener, James Corden, and Hailee Steinfeld also feature in the movie.

Originally titled “Can A Song Save Your Life?,” the film was bought for a reported $7 million and a $20 million P&A commitment last year after a bidding war at the Toronto International Film Festival. It made $27 million worldwide in its initial run, beginning with a June 27 release in the US.

Mariah Carey's Interview with Turkey's First Gay Magazine's First Issue!

Since she released her first studio album "Vision of Love" in 1990, Mariah Carey has been one of the most popular singers in the world thanks to her five octave vocal range. A mother of 3-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, while juggling her roles as an artist and a wife, Carey has sold more than 200 million albums around the world, earning the distinction of becoming the best-selling female artist of the millennium.

Carey's 14th studio album, "Me. I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse", which was released in May this year, sold more than 828,000 in the first three days and broke a new record as the fastest-selling album in the history of iTunes (lmao WHAT @ this beyonce confusion.). The singer also holds 32 Billboard Music Awards, five Grammy Awards and 20 World Music Awards.

Turkey's first gay tabloid magazine, GayMag, which has been online since 2008, hit the shelves on August 5, and the American pop diva provided support to the magazine with an interview. Stating that she had many LGBT friends, Carey said: "Everybody should be able to do what they want to do and be in the pursuit of happiness. We are all the same and we all want the same things: The right to be happy, to be just who we want to be and to love who we want to love," showing her egalitarian attitude to all genders.

"Of course, I have my designer and my assistant - I have lots of LGBT members in my team. Also, since I was a little girl, my mother has been very open-minded and had many different types of friends, so being gay never seemed wrong or strange to me. Her best friends were a gay couple, Ernie and Mort, and they kind of co-raised me. They were the nicest guys ever, and they would watch my little shows when I'd sing. Today, I guess they'd be called my uncles. Sometimes they'd put us up when we didn't have a place to go. I couldn't wait to go stay at their house because it was so beautifully done," she said.

Carey has always embraced her LGBT fans, albeit without directly referring to the community in her music like Madonna or Lady Gaga. "A lot of my die-hard gay fans don't just know my singles, but they also know all the album cuts. I have songs about feeling different and alienated, because I grew up with my own issues, being biracial and not having money. Some of those lyrics can apply to anybody who feels different. My die-hard gay fans listen to songs like 'Outside' and 'Close My Eyes', songs that most people wouldn't know, and these songs have become anthemic for them for their own personal reasons. For instance Marc Jacob's ex-boyfriend Jason Preston got a big tattoo of my name on his stomach a few years ago; I've seen it, and I felt that it's amazing."

Carey said that if people from the LGBT community loved her dance remixes or heartbreak songs, it might be because the community loves strong voices like Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Martha Wash and others. Touching on the most important thing that has to change about people's perception of homosexuality in the world, Carey said: "I think people just need to respect love. No matter whether it's homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual."

Noting that the right to same-sex marriage should be permitted around the world, she said: "If two people want to get married, it is their prerogative - we hope. Everybody should be able to do what they want to do and be in the pursuit of happiness."

As for "Me. I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse", Carey said she was sick with a bad sinus infection while recording it. "I recorded some song in a few minutes just as a demo and decided to keep the vocals. I lived with most of the songs for a year and never recorded the demo vocals. I really loved the imperfections, so I kept the original demos. I spent the time I'd normally spend on backgrounds and vocal production on getting the music perfect. There were days I spent solely on getting the perfect mix of sounds for the snare alone. Discipline, patience, control, truth, risk and effortlessness were all thing I thought about while I was putting this album together."

The singer also said she was definitely conscious of all the different types of people who listen to her music, adding that the she always set out to make the most personal, honest and best album every time. Having decided not to preempt the release of the album with a single or a standard campaign, Carey said she simply uploaded it to iTunes in one go. "It was a big part of challenge. I was recording, shooting videos and performing on the tour every night, all at the same time. At some point I felt like, 'What am I doing? Is this too ambitious?' Even the day the record was to be released I was scared to death. But I also knew if I was that scared, something big was about to happen."

Carey has previously been to southern vacation hotspot of Antalya. When asked what she knows most about Turkey, Carey said: "I really love Turkey and Turkish guys. The hospitality was nice, but I could not spend a long time; next time I would love to stay longer."
