They're undisputedly the hottest new couple in Hollywood, so no-one can blame Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello from parading their romance around town.

Indeed, the pair enjoyed not one, but two very public dates this past weekend, beginning with an outing in Beverly Hills on Friday.

Seemingly unable to get enough of each other, the pair then headed out for a second romantic excursion the following day, in nearby Studio City.

Carrie Underwood's new album on the way, tweaks Sunday Night Football theme (thank goodness)

It’s been two years since Carrie Underwood released her No. 1, platinum-selling ‘Blown Away’ album, but fans won’t have to wait much longer for a new set of tunes. The songstress says she is hard at work on another record, which will be unlike anything she has released in the past.

“I’ve been writing a lot. It feels really good,” she reveals to the Hollywood Reporter. Adding that the project is a “new version” of herself, she says, “It’s just a progression, a different sound without losing myself in it. I’m not taking some crazy musical departure from what I’ve done, but it definitely feels different. It will feel different, look different, sound different.”

While Underwood hasn’t revealed if she will feature any collaborations on the upcoming record, with her duet with Miranda Lambert, ‘Something Bad,’ landing at No. 1, she says she’s definitely open to singing with Lambert again.

"‘Something Bad’ was just the right song, the right time,” the former ‘American Idol‘ winner says. “All the stars lined up, and we got to do it. I guarantee that won’t be the last time we sing together, but it just hasn’t happened for this next album.”

Fans who can’t wait for Underwood’s new album will get a chance to hear the Oklahoma native’s voice on ‘Sunday Night Football’s’ opening song, ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,’ reprising a role she began in 2013.

“This year, they were going for a roaming party-concert — lots of lights and they wanted it to feel really high-energy,” she says. “I got to go back into the studio and make a few tweaks.”

Underwood, who will also serve as the opening act for this year’s Super Bowl, says she enjoys being so closely involved with one of her favorite sports.

“I love football,” she says. “I’m honored they asked me to kick it off. Hopefully when people hear the song, they’ll just feel ready for the big game!”

Allure Labels Lauren Conrad a Basic Bitch.

There are multiple entries listed under the term “basic bitch” on UrbanDictionary.com, but perhaps the most universal definition is “just an extra regular female.”

So it’s no surprise that Lauren Conrad called out Allure Magazine when they threw shade at the reality TV star-turned-fashion designer, classifying her as “Basic” in an article. Allure’s article elaborates: “Made famous by Kreayshawn, and viral by YouTube, the Basic woman is remarkably unremarkable. What’s noteworthy about her style is its very plainness. Except to her. She swears those red soled shoes are cutting-edge.”

Conrad shot back at the magazine on Twitter:

Don’t worry, LC. These are beautiful, loose waves that do not resemble a sausage in the least:

And Allure says that any Basic’s favorite nail color is “Ballet Slippers,” when clearly Conrad’s favorite is Bachelorette Bash:

Shakira is Facebook’s most popular celebrity with 100million likes

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Shakira has become the world’s most liked celebrity on Facebook, setting the record with over 100million fans.

She comes ahead of Rihanna and Eminem, who have a respective 91.9 million and 89 million likes. To put Shakira’s Facebook figures into perspective, someone who works for the social media channel (who clearly had an enviably quiet few days in the office) has helpfully put together a few facts to add context to the figure.

If the singer’s 100,000 fans joined hands they would wrap around the world four times. They would fill 1,359 Maracana stadiums and if, in the unlikely event all these people decided to howl like a wolf in unison at exactly the same time, they would be louder than 58,666,666 planes taking off. If they each saw fit to each wiggle their hips altogether for 30 minutes, they would power 205 big television screens for an hour, or 10 houses for a year.

Most of Shakira’s fans are women (57 per cent), most of whom are single (58 per cent) and three out of ten are called Maria. One in ten of her male following are named Jose. Most of her fans come from Mexico City, Cairo and Istanbul.

But why, you may wonder? How has the woman famed for lyrics such as “Lucky my breasts are small and humble/ so you don’t confuse them with mountains” amassed such a wide fan base?

She has a large following in South America and was very active during the World Cup, performing her tournament hit, "La La La", at the closing ceremony. Basically, she used Facebook a lot to document her personal goings-on during one of this year’s biggest sporting event in a region that she was very popular already.

Her social media team post in different languages, including English, Spanish, German, French and Russian, so that her international following constantly feel involved.

The singer also ensures that her brand page doesn’t come across as solely a marketing ploy (although the links to iTunes and her merchandise can’t hurt), sharing personal pictures of herself with her family – her most shared post is an image of her footballer husband, Gerard Pique, kissing her then newborn son, Milan.

“100 million fans on Facebook!” wrote Shakira in a hand-written note shared on Facebook on 18 July. “Thank you so much for joining me and propelling me on this incredible journey. I couldn’t do it without you all. Much love, Shak”

Why Glee's Final Season Was Shortened

Glee's final season will be a celebration!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Though the show's sixth and final season order was trimmed from 22 to 13 episodes, Fox's Chairman and CEO Peter Rice assured that Glee will "go out in a way that celebrates it."

"I think Glee is one of the great shows in television history...it was so hot and so big," Rice said at the 2014 Summer TCA Press Tour on Sunday, adding that the network "assumed it was going to fail" before it premiered in 2009.

"It touched so many hearts and it brought social issues to floor and it burned so hot and so fast," he continued.

And Rice explained that one of the benefits of a shortened season is that the episodes will air in a straight-run with no breaks.

"We want to go out in way that celebrates it," he said. "We thought that a final 13 episodes and compacting it and doing it in a straight-run was a better way to finish the show."

In the final season, which will air in 2015, fans can expect to see a time-jump and a shift away from New York, as well as a reduced role for Naya Rivera, who will no longer be a series regular.

But Ryan Murphy is hoping to see some of Glee's former stars who have exited the series return for the show's big finish. "My feeling about the last season of Glee is very clear, and that is that we will be reaching out to all of the regulars on the show, that original group of Glee club members and the teachers, and anybody who wants to come back can come back. Anybody who wants to be a part of the show, we welcome them."

Glee's sixth season will air at midseason on Fox.

‘Dracula Untold’: Dominic Cooper Promises A Dark Vampire Origin Story

$
0
0

In addition to a fan-favorite turn (with possible returns in the future) as Marvel’s Howard Stark, father to Iron Man, Tony Stark, Dominic Cooper has been seen in several high-profile franchise films in the last few years – with more already scheduled. Most recently, the actor served as antagonist to the racing game movie, Need for Speed – only to sign on for a role in the highly anticipated World of Warcraft adaptation (set to hit theaters in 2016). Last year, the actor played supporting Vampire hunter Henry Sturges in the genre-bending novel adaptation Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter – one of the bright spots in a film that fell short of finding the same success as its source material.

Now, Cooper is once again set to portray a vampire hunter - albeit one that doesn’t know he’s fighting a vampire at first. In Dracula Untold, Cooper portrays Mehmed II, ruler of the Ottoman empire – and former brother in arms to Vlad III Țepeș (aka Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula). Years after they both served under his father, Mehmed I, Mehmed II reunites with his friend - demanding that Vlad, now a family man and benevolent ruler of Wallachia (aka Transylvania/modern day Romania), hand over 1,000 boys from his kingdom, including Vlad’s own son, Ingeras, to join the Turk army in conquering neighboring lands. When Vlad refuses, Mehmed vows to destroy Wallachia. Outnumbered, Vlad fears for the destruction of his people, seeking out a dark power that might give him the upper hand against Mehmed II and his invaders.

Back in November 2013, we visited the set of Dracula Untold in Belfast, Ireland to find out what Universal Pictures and director Gary Shore have planned for Dracula’s origin story. During our time on set, we had a chance to speak with Cooper about his role as Mehmed II - specifically how he fits into this new Dracula mythology, historical accuracy in the fantasy genre, as well as what actually makes Dracula Untold an “untold” story.

What big stunt are you doing today?

Dominic Cooper: I’m constantly doing stunt rehearsal.

We hear you’re doing a really big one today.

DC: There’s a big one I’m training to do, in fact I just tired all my armor on, I’m training to do a big stunt towards the end. I call it a stunt but it’s a fight. It’s a big, big, big fight between Vlad and myself. You do these things and this always happens and I never learn when you’re doing an action based film is that you spend weeks learning these fights and then you try them and then you’re in this armor and then you realize you can’t move. So then the whole thing probably has to be changed. It’s an incredible costume. It’s a very over the top but beautiful golden armor costume; it’s all frilly gold and it’s got the battle of Constantinople on the front of it and on the arms. It’s incredible but it’s so heavy, I can’t move.

So what’s the relationship between you and Vlad in the sense of – what’s the evolution of it? What’s the mark of the relationship?

DC: Well they have a history as kids and my take on it is that he has always been terribly envious of this boy who is called in to his father’s palace and I like the relationship to be based in envy, jealously, and resentment. I think he saw Vlad as being a better fighter, a stronger, stronger mind, and physically and I think his dad was aware of this. So this is something that’s ongoing and is punctuated in the story itself and that comes to a head. We’ve kind of put these extra ideas in it. On my father’s death bed it was Vlad who he chose to speak to. Because I think he trusted him more as a warrior, as a future leader. So there was a clever bit of writing they came up with right in the beginning of shooting, and I loved it when I read it. It was about him desperately trying to understand or find out what it was that the father had shared with Vlad and not himself. And he can tell he’s being lied to when Vlad comes out with this elaborate, over the top, kind words that he knows are not true. As revenge I do to him really in a way what my father did – which is to ask and insist upon taking his son into battle. I only do that for one reason and it’s to anger him and upset him. That’s the basis of the beginning of the story, and then the big battle begins.

So is your character sort of the villain of the piece or if we look at it from his point of view it makes perfect sense in terms of his motivations?

DC: Yes, exactly. It makes perfect sense for him as any villain and it has to for a well written villain. It can’t be villainous for villains’ sake it absolutely comes from a place of jealousy and resentment not that as an audience member you would care. He’s evil and he does things not for the good of his country or his people but to seek revenge, in my opinion, but it comes from a very real place. He’s an incredible warrior but this particular part of the story, he ruins himself because of letting this jealously eat himself up. He makes all the wrong decisions, everything he chooses to do from this point ruins him. It would all be fine, he could continue to take on Europe and take on the rest of the world but he decides that this one thing has been killing him since he was a child, he decides to pursue. So that’s his downfall.

So if not for your character Dracula wouldn’t exist.

DC: Yea, exactly.

Is it fun to play a villain?

DC: It’s always fun. If they’re well written and like you said as long as they’re a real place that you can relate to or that you understand where that hatred comes from, and that they’re believable. That this person existed. The clever thing from this is that his childhood, what he was capable of, and what he did, he is a villain in a way. He’s trying to cover up a past. I mean the impaling of people that’s very poignant in one of the scenes, that I try to unveil to others what he is capable of and actually how evil he is – because I know the true him that he’s trying to cover up. Yes he’s become a good man and yes he loves his people and he cares for his family but he watched him survive what my father put him through. He was a killer, a volatile dangerous, awful, evil, killer. I think that’s quite clever of a confrontation between the two of them – you don’t have one good guy, they’re both quite dark.

I’m curious because Vlad goes out on this journey and encounters witches and Caligula, the air of the supernatural is all around. For your character are people aware of the supernatural in this land or is this something that they don’t believe in? Is there a belief system in the supernatural?

DC: No there is not but we’ve become more and more aware, we’re like the audience I suppose. We see rather strange things happen and we have to take notice of them but we’re in the real world and we have a belief that could possibly be true by the end of the film we start to go, ‘Do you believe this guy has supernatural powers?’ or what we suppose he may be about but it’s not a world in which we exist where it’s the norm.

Do you have characters around you? Like do you have a right hand man?

DC: Do I?

Yea, like any kind of supporting character that you are close with?

DC: Yes I do. I have one that I confide in that I kill. So there are but he’s not particularly that pleasant to them and they’re all again another way to highlight the terror he spreads among people is that those people that are close to you are very much fearful of you – in the way that they behave around you, in the way they treat you is not the representation of how dangerous he is. That really helps me as an actor. We had a huge scene the other day where I have all my people around me and he comes into the tent, it’s a very long scene, it’s very rare long scene, its five or six pages long. It’s really good well, written dialogue, it’s wonderful cause all of my people are around me and they are very timid and frightened worried about seeing this situation unfold and that’s when I reveal to them that this person who enters the tent I know very well. Or who is one of my closest, oldest and dearest friends from childhood which is very unsettling the way everyone is behaving around me. It’s so fun to play off that energy because you’re immediately in that position of power and you don’t have to do anything aggressive or dangerous. In fact the more you play against that and the kinder you are, and the softer you are the more I think terrifying it is.

Can you talk about how your character learns about the supernatural elements or does he learn a little too late?

DC: He learns too late and he thinks he can overpower it. Well, he does use it to his advantage when he finally believes in it. He uses tricks that he knows will affect and weaken but it takes him a long time to convince.

When we were on set yesterday we were talking to everyone else about, not like the negative stigma, that people could be skeptical about another vampire film or about a different take on Dracula what was it for you that attracted you to the project and also what would you tell people who might say, ‘Oh, it’s just another Dracula film.’

DC: I keep forgetting I actually have to keep being reminded that it’s a Dracula film. For me it was very much a film about the history of Vlad The Impaler and where that story came. It’s a very different take on it and a really clever twist on the story. It’s going to look completely epic and beautiful. They’re shooting it on film and there were some very distinctive characterizations within it. I think it’s unlike any other Dracula. I find it amazing that they’re actually calling it that because for me it felt like something very, very different. I like the idea that they have chosen where he comes from who he was and why he came from that world and why he was part of the Turks world. And then what he became. I think it’s a really clever take on it. Within that story I’m the one who gives all the exposition when all that’s taking place.

Coming into this film were you able to offer any useful vampire advice to your costar? Dealing with fangs? Things that might be useful?

DC: It’s quite funny no but there are things I overhear that are the same problems that I’ve had which I’ve dealt with. I don’t have to this time but I’ve had to do the prosthetics and the teeth in a way which the biting looks good and how painful it can be if you get it wrong. You can take chunks of people’s face out if you’re not careful. I kept quite. I like to see those things happen. I often go yea I coulda told you about that (laughs).

What’s one thing you’re really excited for people to see in this movie?

DC: I’ve shot a few scenes and I haven’t been around during the entire thing, I think from reading it and from seeing what I have seen, I think the dynamic between the relationships. Action is one thing and if you love that than great this is going to have plenty of it; really big, brutal, dangerous, great set pieces and fights. They’re going to all look amazing. I think more than that if that tires you or if that is just not enough, then at the heart of it there’s actually a brotherly relationship that comes about that breaks down and a beautiful love story and a story about a family and a man who tries to defend his family – and then you have the mystical world and actually the prosthetics of how they made those characters look is extraordinary. There’s a combination of lots of things but essentially the reason I’m drawn to something is there has to be an intriguing story at the middle of it. It can’t just be about explosions or car races or whatever it is – there has to be a story for me, because that’s what I like and that’s what people will be drawn to.

Is there a chance for an ongoing rivalry between your character and Vlad if there are future films? Or is this a definitive end to your character?

DC: I’ve heard before it’s a definitive end and then I’ve been dound myself a few years down the line there again. I don’t know there are tons of possibilities as there always is, people never know where they’re going to take a story. Which makes sense it makes it terribly exciting, unless you’re dead, dead but in a film with this title, you’re never dead, dead. Who knows? We’ll see.

Did you a lot of research into the history of your character, the actual man?

DC: Yea I did. It’s kind of endless and fascinating and I didn’t know, admittedly I knew very, very little and all that stuff is great and you’re learning so much. How helpful it is, I’m never really quite sure because you’re developing or creating something that needs to function within what you’re making. Of course it’s good to have all this wealth of information to understand where he comes from and how powerful he was, and how determined he was. He threw his dad off the thrown, he demanded that his dad stand down and took over and was a much more military capable man than his father. So all that stuff is helpful but actually you have to bring in something that works within the framework of the story. It will be so interesting to know – because now when you play people and do something biographical you can watch stuff of them. You know you’re getting quite close, you know you sound like them, I just have absolutely no idea [what he sounds like] which is comforting in a way because you start from scratch and you can make him whoever you really want to be most effective. Maybe he was horribly chilling and hopefully some sort of charm or kindness in the beginning. Was he really like that? Probably not, but you can do what you like.

Top 10 (5) Hilary Duff Moments + Hilary Gearing Up for Music Comeback + Candids Update

Hilary Duff. If you were experiencing childhood or adolescence in the naughties, you know exactly who I’m talking about. Powerhouse Disney product Duff was the spokesperson for countless amazing Disney Channel original movies, as well as boasting a (semi) impressive music career to compliment. During the time when every pop star was manufactured, Hilary Duff was concocted in the potions lab of Disney’s headquarters- designed to pierce the lives of millions of tweens and teens alike, across the globe for total world domination. Success followed, of course.
In honor of the TRUE Disney queen returning to her rightful pop throne when she debuts her newest single on July 24th, we’ve decided to compile a list of the most beautiful things Miss. Duff has created over her decade of working in the entertainment industry. We could go on, and on about how fabulous Hilary Duff is- but her repertoire speaks for itself.

9. Her puppy love romance with Aaron Carter, & semi-feud with LiLo
00
After appearing on the television masterpiece that was “Lizzie McGuire” Aaron Carter and Hilary Duff entered an extremely intense, and serious relationship. Not really though. The media blew it all out of proportion, and the young teen stars were on the cover of every magazine. “Aaron Carter wants Hilary Duff’s candy!” now wouldn’t that have made a fantastic headline? We kid, they were only children after all. Rumour has it that another budding child star on the rise with rival network Nickelodeon the (now) infamous Lindsay Lohan, also wanted a piece of Aaron Carter’s candy. Which led to a feud, obvi. But Lilo cleared it all up, after a video clip of her singing along to Hilary’s song ” Come Clean” made its way around the TV stations. Keep in mind, YouTube didn’t exist back then.

7. Cross market endeavours
00
Hilary Duff. Did. Everything. Not kidding! Hilary dabbled in so many different ways to extend her brand, and it’s really quite impressive. She started with acting, progressed to singing and tried almost everything in between. Two clothing lines, a fragrance & three novels later- she has definitely proved that her brand withstands one method of production. There’s something to be respected about a strong woman who knows how to stretch herself thinly enough to get that cash money while pursuing a variety of interests.

4. Her debut album Metamorphosis
00
After trying out singing on her hit TV show Lizzie McGuire (more on THAT later) Hilary decided to try her hand at a full fledged music career, beginning with her hit album Metamorphosis. How can we forget the awe inspiring, life changing lyrics from So Yesterday such as “if the light is off, then it isn’t on” or the genius phrase from The Math “if you can’t do The Math, then get out of the equation.” Hilary brought literally 0% teenage angst, and 100% adorbz try-hard attitude that doesn’t ever get on your nerves. Plus….it went to #2 on it’s first week of sales, and then bumped up to #1! What?!? Only Hilary.

2. Lizzie McGuire
00
Hilary could literally venture to the moon, and it still wouldn’t be better than Lizzie McGuire on Disney Channel. The geniuses that put that TV Show together should be awarded with a nobel prize. Hilary brought charisma, charm & fabulousness to one of the best children’s TV shows of all time. Lizzie McGuire had cross market appeal- anyone could enjoy it. There was something in that wondrous sitcom for everyone. Be it sage words of advice from her parents, annoying pranks from her brother, or profound monologues from “Lizzie” herself- the show defined so many childhoods. And adult hoods.

1. Lizzie McGuire… THE MOVIE
00000
Okay. Yes. I saved it for the #1 spot. Lizzie McGuire: the movie. After graduating 8th grade (so American) Lizzie ventures off to Rome with her classmates, where she falls in love with an Italian pop star and coincidentally looks exactly like his counterpart-nightingale girlfriend. So naturally, she fills her shoes and pretends to be her while performing at the colosseum. Plausible, no?  Regardless of believability, it’s impossible to dislike the Lizzie McGuire movie. When she sings “What Dreams Are Made Of” I want to cry. Every single time. It’s so amazing.

And there you have it friends. Our top 10 5 Hilary Duff moments before she comes back to slay us all with her new single on July 24th. We’re ready.

This is Kendall Jenner like we have never seen her before! For ‘LOVE’ magazine, her hair was pulled tightly into multiple french braids, with her baby hairs in the front gelled down against her skin. They posted an Instagram video of this look with a blowdryer pointed directly at her cheek. What do YOU think of Kendall’s shocking transformation — love it or loathe it? Vote now!
Kendall Jenner, 18, isn’t afraid to change up her look when it comes to her high fashion modeling gigs. On July 18, LOVE Magazine posted a slow motion video ofKendall, with an interesting new look, staring straight into the camera while having her face morphed by a blowdryer. There are so many crazy elements going on at once in this video, we have to break it down below!

Her long, gorgeous locks appeared to be soaked in gel, then tightly pulled into multiple slicked french braids. Formed with a sharp parting, the front pieces of hair were glued down in a wave pattern against her forehead, with the ends curled in along her cheeks.

Kendall Jenner’s Morphed Face For ‘LOVE’
As if her hair was not a big enough statement, what was going on with Kendall’s beautiful face?

In slow motion, her sharp facial features looked liked putty as they were being morphed by wind from a blowdryer. Maybe this was Kendall’s way of proving that she is all natural — a face enhanced with Botox wouldn’t have budged against the powerful blow!

Miley Cyrus DIES!!! According to FB hoax...

Fans distraught after a Facebook scam goes viral and she fails to tweet for three days.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Miley Cyrus is the victim of a death hoax, mostly because of a Facebook scam, but partly because fans were so shocked that she hadn’t shared anything on social media for three days they assumed that she must be dead.

The Facebook hoax read: “{SHOCKING) Miley Cyrus Found Dead in Her Los Angeles Home! Country singer Miley Cyrus found overdosed this afternoon in her Los Angeles home.”

When users click on the post, they’re directed to a page that looks like Facebook before being encouraged to share the page further, spreading fake surveys that make money.

But it seems that it was her short absence from Twitter and Instagram that led fans to believe the news.

“Miley hasn’t posted anything on Instagram since July 18 — and now fans fear the worst,” cried HollywoodLife.

And they really did:

Not that we’ve been able to get hold of Cyrus’ spokesperson, but apparently the singer has found the speculation entertaining. In fact, she doesn’t mind too much if her hystericals fans think she’s dead.

“She is aware of the death hoax and thought it was actually pretty funny,” a source told HollywoodLife.

“By not responding, she thinks it is that much more of a joke because people are continuing to believe it. She has mentioned to friends that this is her Paul[McCartney] is dead Beatles moment.”

Fear not, the singer will doubtlessly be back with full twerking vengeance for the VMAs on 24 August, after being nominated for Best Video and Best Direction for "Wrecking Ball". Something for us all to look forward to.

Why Kim Kardashian Has 'No Sympathy' for Brother Rob

Rob Kardashian may be having a hard time these days, but sister Kim says she's not one to baby him.

On Sunday night's episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Rob, 27, failed to show up to the airport for the family's trip to Thailand. Though sister Khloé was worried, Kim ... not so much.

"We've all been here to offer him help and he won't take it, so I don't have sympathy," Kim, 33, said during breakfast one day on the vacation.

She went on to tell the cameras, "I think I'm just more of the tough love kind of person." As opposed to Khloé's coddling, "My personality is like, 'All right, you complain, you don't like it, get up and do something about it.'"

But it may not that be that easy. "Rob has deeper issues than just weight," Khloé, 30, said during the episode, citing how hard he took her split from Lamar Odom.

Rob, who later skipped the European wedding of Kim and Kanye West, is at least trying to tackle his weight struggles, hitting the gym with trainer Gunnar Peterson.

"Rob works out in beast mode," Peterson told PEOPLE last month. "I know he can do this."

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed that the prospect of Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson helming an episode is still very much alive, and that talks are ongoing.

Doctor Who fan Jackson, who cast the seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy in the fantasy trilogy, told journalists last year that he’d be, “very happy to” direct an episode and that discussions were “actually kind of serious.”

Moffat, though, says that, while he’s still open to the idea, it all depends on the director’s schedule.

“He’s still incredibly busy on The Hobbit,” said Moffat. “I’ve spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one. He accepts that there’s no money and that there’s no time, and it would have to be when he’s available – and I don’t think he’s even been available enough to answer our emails of late! I think it will probably happen at some point.”

Jackson has previously said that he would wave his fee for the prospective episode, and would instead settle for a new golden Dalek to go with the two classic Daleks he already owns. He told Entertainment Weekly a while back, "They don’t even have to pay me. But I have got my eye on one of those nice new gold-colored Daleks. They must have a spare one (hint, hint)."

Jackson has also expressed interest in materialising the Tardis in Middle-Earth itself: New Zealand. Steven Moffat, however, would rather just put him up in Wales – presumably not on his sofa.

“I think he’s sincere in his Doctor Who fandom, to say the least,"Moffat told SFX Magazine. "He’s a nice guy, he quite often drops me a line after a show goes out. He’s into it – it’s just 'Can you make it work?' I think he would also like us to go and make it in New Zealand! And I’m like 'Okaaay… I’d rather we just flew you to Cardiff!'”

Jackson joked last year that if he was allowed to film a story in New Zealand, he would want to do something, “with the [rugby union] All Blacks versus the Daleks. There's a good story in there, although obviously the All Blacks would have to win!"

The director, notorious for making long, bladder-busting films, has also said that he would relish the challenge of the small screen.

"I'd love to try my hand at television, because I've never had the discipline of having to shoot for those impossibly tiny schedules. I think I could do it okay now."

The actor, who currently heads up the CW's The Originals, wed his Vampire Diaries costar Persia White (See also: Girlfriends) in an intimate ceremony in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on July 5. They got engaged in May of this year.

"It had a very rustic feel to it," White tells PEOPLE. "There was nothing about it that was overwhelming or very huge or fabulous in that way. We tried to keep everything really intimate and beautiful and sort of going along with nature."

The bride wore a Vera Wang dress with a cathedral-length veil, while the groom sported an ivory-colored silk tux with black lapels by Miguel Wilson. "And then I had a bow tie," adds Morgan. "In fact, the bow tie was the first bow tie I've ever tied myself, so I was quite proud of that."

The couple, who met on the set of season 3 of The Vampire Diaries, exchanged vows in front of 26 guests at a private villa, within sight of where they got engaged. "I think one of the reasons we picked it was because we love the ocean and we both grew up by the sea," White says. "To be by the sea was wonderful. And the people of Jamaica are just wonderful."

(I wish this picture was larger)

So, who made the exclusive guest list? "It was mostly family, a handful of close friends," Morgan says. "My best man was my best friend of almost 20 years, Matt Ryan. He actually plays John Constantine on the new NBC show Constantine, but we've been friends since we were teenagers."

The pair danced to Florence + the Machine's "Never Let Me Go" for their first turn around the dance floor. But their favorite moment involved a band of Jamaican drummers.

"We had this great group called the Children of the Drums," Morgan says. "It was six Jamaican drummers, and they got everybody up on the dance floor. At one point, all of our guests were on the dance floor, which is an achievement, I think."

The food wasn't too shabby, either, especially the cake, which was vegan – in keeping with the couple's plant-based menu. "It was a triple-layer, chocolate on the inside and vanilla icing," says White. "A beautiful, amazing cake."

After helicoptering over to Negril for their honeymoon, the two relaxed by "partaking in the favorite local pastime – cliff jumping," says Morgan. White adds: "That was what was more daunting than anything else. And we did it together, so we're pretty proud of that."

What's next for the couple? Well, in addition to working on more film and TV projects together, they hope to start a family. Says White: "Little cute mini Josephs!"

Congrats to the couple!

Thomas the Tank Engine is Racist Because the Evil Trains Pump Out Black Smoke

Every so often the Guardian disappears up its own arse. It's like that line from the Godfather from Peter Clemenza: "These things gotta happen every five years or so, ten years. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. Been ten years since the last one."

For the Guardian, these sorts of things happen every five days or so. Maybe 10. And today's is a corker.

Tracey Van Slyke writes of her refusal to allow her children any enjoyment in life without subjecting them to her own white, post-colonial guilt:

"...these trains perform tasks dictated by their imperious, little white boss, Sir Topham Hatt (also known as The Fat Controller), whose attire of a top hat, tuxedo and big round belly is just a little too obvious. Basically, he's the Monopoly dictator of their funky little island. Hatt orders the trains to do everything from hauling freight to carrying passengers to running whatever random errand he wants done, whenever he wants it done – regardless of their pre-existing schedules.

She of course means "boss" or "employer" or something along those lines. But calling the Fat Controller and imperial dictator is a little spicier isn't it? Plus who believes in "bosses" anyway? It's 2014. Isn't the whole world a commune yet? She continues...

"(For the record, all the "villains" on Thomas and Friends are the dirty diesel engines. I'd like to think there was a good environmental message in there, but when the good engines pump out white smoke and the bad engines pump out black smoke – and they are all pumping out smoke – it's not hard to make the leap into the race territory.)"

Actually it is almost impossible to make that leap, yet Van Slyke manages it anyway, quickly forgetting that the show is about steam engines, and that light vs dark in terms of good and evil is a notion that far predates the Equality Commission.

Next from the loony left: Why LOST was racist. Why little black dresses are racist. And why Conclave is racist. Oh wait... They've done that one already.

But jokes aside there's a pretty serious outcome from this Van Slyke article that I want some answers to.

By exposing her children to this endless twaddle (remember, the above is only the stuff she feels comfortable publishing) the author is projecting her bizarro notions of class, race, work, and of course the must have guilt burden of the season: the environment, onto her unassuming and likely uncaring kids.

Why should children be lumbered with the distressing political correctness of their parents in lieu of a guilt free, enjoyable childhood?
They shouldn't be. It is a mild yet damaging form of child abuse. And Van Slyke and the Guardian are encouraging if not demanding it.
