Since we know Gaga lurks ONTD! A history on Madonna SLAYING Stadiums World wide for 32 years

0
0

The list of people that can sell out stadium shows or a stadium tour is a very small list, that list is even smaller when we talk about females that can book a stadium show/tour.

This post serves as an appreciation to the Queen of pop, Madonna and her unprecedented ability to perform in stadiums across the globe.

Madonna has been slaying stadiums for her entire 30+ year career.

The "Who's that girl tour" opened June 14th 1987 in Japan with shows in Osaka Stadium and Korakuen Stadium and played to a massive 154,000 people.

By 1987, the Madonna furor was so big she performed in front of 131.000 people, her bigest attendance show to date.
The show went on to hit the US and played in stadiums across the country.

- Veterans Stadium (78,300 people)
- Anaheim Stadium (62,986 people)
- Texas Stadium (40,601 people)
- Giants Stadium (51,000 people)
- Soldier field (46,923 people)
- Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium (56,000 people )
- CNE Stadium (50,013 people)

Madonna's dates in Europe were just as impressive.

- Roundhay Park (73,000 people)
- Wembley Stadium (216,000 people)
- Waldstadion (51,981 people)
- Stadio Comunale (63,127 people)

Special mention needs to go to her ONE date in Paris at the Parc de Sceaux. Madonna STILL holds the attendance record for this one date, playing to 131,000 people in a single show.

After the "who's that girl tour" the Queen of stadium shows went on to her next big world tour. A tour that would revolutionise the touring game. The Blond ambition world tour.

Madonna's touring domination saw so signs of slowing down with the majority of the tour playing in stadiums.

Madonna opened the shows again in Japan with stadium dates at

- 3 x shows at Chiba Marine Stadium (30,000 people per show)
- 3 x shows at Hankyu Nishinomiya Stadium (35,000 people per show)
- 3 x shows at Yokohama Stadium (70,000 people per show)

Madonna then took this tour to the US embarking on a further 17 stadium dates.

3 years later The girlie show was born. Opening in Wembley stadium with two shows and a total attendance 144,000 people. Again, Madonna's touring dominance showed no signs of slowing down.

Following London The next stadium shows appeared in:

- Hayarkon Park (80,000 people)
- BJK İnönü Stadium (54,000 people)
- Olympic Stadium (53,000 people)

Special mention for the girlie show goes to South America.

Playing to a total of 326,000 people in just 4 shows.

Then came 3 shows at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez playing to 45,744 people per show.

Then came the unprecedented. Madonna played 9 stadium dates in Australia. Playing to a whopping 405,741 people. - The only other females to perform stadium dates in Australia are 1.Taylor swift in 6 shows to 148, 921 people and 2. Mariah Carey (sadly she didn't disclose her attendance)

You can watch the insane demand for tickets in Australia in these news stories from Brisbane and Melb:

Madonna's next tour happened in 2001. 8 years after her last tour.

Madonna went right back to performing to stadium dates 8 years after, her last tour.

- 36,000 people in Spain
- 68,000 people in Paris
- 107,415 in London

Next up for this unprecedented touring force was the "Re-invention tour" a tour that was not a world tour and had limited dates. Again, we see some incredible stadium shows. For technical reasons it was difficult to set up the Reinvention tour in stadiums so Madonna was forced to do several arena show in many North American cities to cater for demand. in NYC for example she played to almost 90,000 people over several shows n the same venue but this thread is about stadium shows and the Notable shows for this your are:

- Slane castle (62,275 people)
- GelreDome (73,300 people)

The Confessions tour again saw some amazing stadium shows. Notable are shows like

- Millennium Stadium (55,795 people)
- Stadio Olimpico (63, 054 people)
- Forum Horsens (85, 232 people)
- 2x shows at Tokyo Dome (71,231 people)

Robin Thicke is having a bad few weeks at the moment, following up the disastrous #AskThicke Twitter PR campaign with disappointing sales for his latest album Paula.
According to the latest figures, Robin Thicke’s seventh album only managed to make 200th in the top selling album list for last week, selling a measly 530 copies in total in the UK. This figure compares to 25,981 sales of his previous album Blurred Lines in its first week, according to MusicWeek.
Thicke’s failure to convert the popularity of his hit single Blurred Lines into sales for his new album is not only happening in the UK either, with the record only estimated to sell 25,000 copies in the US, according to Billboard.

William Orbit addresses Alien vocal leak

tumblr_m174tmyuNd1qgyp7mo1_500

Dearest Music Lovers, I have heard that Britney vocal link that everybody’s been discussing. It has been impossible not to as there have been many comments directing my attention to it. [I won’t re-posting it here]. I'd like to affirm that ANY singer when first at the mic at the start of a long session can make a multitude of vocalisations in order to get warmed up.
Warming up is essential if you’re a pro, as it is with a runner doing stretches, and it takes a while to do properly. I’ve heard all manner of sounds emitted during warmups. The point is that it is not supposed to be shared with millions of listeners.
A generous singer will put something down the mic to help the engineer get their systems warmed up and at the right level
, maybe whilst having a cup of herb tea and checking through lyrics before the session really kicks off. It’s not expected to be a ‘take’.
I think that 99% of you reading this will totally understand.
Whomever put this on the internet must have done so in a spirit of unkindness, but it can in no way detract from the fact that Britney is and always will be beyond Stellar! She is magnificent! And that’s that.
Sincerely, William

Sia May be the Feminist Face of Music’s Future

0
0

Australian singer-songwriter Sia’s new album 1000 Forms of Fear has been released internationally today, accompanied by a deluge of media reporting her story: she’s one of a handful of the most successful songwriters in the world, an artist in her own right, and doesn’t want to be famous.

She’s written hit songs for Beyoncé, Rihanna, Britney Spears, and Kylie Minogue. People want her songs because they know they will be hits, in part because Sia’s songwriting craft is infused with intimate knowledge gained from her own incredible singing voice. The clip for her current single Chandelier has been viewed over 51 million times on Youtube.

In a sexist industry driven by image and obsessed with youth this is an incredible feat for a 38-year old woman from Adelaide who now refuses to show her face.

In recent performances including on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live! Sia sang with her back to the audiences. When the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA) honoured her with songwriter of the year award in June she accepted via a male stand-in dressed in her signature blonde wig.

The cover of her new album features only its title and the image of a blonde bob wig floating in blackness.

Sia has been making music since her teens, and released her first album in 1997. She had some success, including with Breathe Me, a song featured on the television series Six Feet Under, but her most significant success has come through writing hit songs for some of the biggest names in popular music.

The money she has earned and the reputation she has established have given her the clout to get a unique record deal with RCA that does not require her to tour or do promotional press.

In an “anti-fame manifesto” published in 2013, Sia wrote that the collective public response to fame creates a creature that is “sharp-tongued and lying in wait for my self-esteem".

And, having experienced this beast by proxy through the famous people she’s worked with, she seeks to avoid it. This evasion protects her personhood, private life, and mental health: Sia has spoken publicly of her struggles with addiction and mental illness.

Discussions generated by Sia’s choices have focused on issues around fame and celebrity. But gender is also at stake in Sia’s strategy. By performing without showing her face and absenting her image from publicity, Sia forces viewers to listen to her voice rather than focus on her appearance.

In this way, she turns around the history of women in music. Sia fits into a trajectory of female singer-songwriters beginning with Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon whose music, since the late 1960s, has explored personal themes in a confessional mode. Yet these women struggled with a music industry that had no idea how to market them without sexualising them or somehow highlighting their femaleness.

Since the 1980s, some women in music have sought to combat this phenomenon by owning it. In that decade, through popularising music videos, MTV made image central to music and its marketing. Madonna capitalised on this by using music videos as a forum to explore her sexuality and create publicity through sexual controversy, a trend that continues with artists such as Lady Gaga.

Madonna also made clear that the female body was not simply an object for male consumption but a site where women themselves could explore their sexual desires and gendered identities.

In the 1990s, Riot Grrrls and Courtney Love played with non-traditional performances of femininity and sexuality, using what scholar Karina Eileraas has described as “ugliness as resistance,” to comment on issues including beauty standards, the objectification of and violence against women, patriarchy and compulsory heterosexuality.

But despite their challenges to the status quo and claims to agency, women who use their bodies as part of their musical performance still navigate a treacherous line between personal power and a wider system that continues to exploit, objectify, and cruelly judge women.

In this context, Sia’s refusal to show her face or use her body to sell her music is potentially revolutionary. By disappearing her own image and symbolising herself through a wig that is easily replicated and switched between various users, she refuses norms of female beauty, plays with gender, and draws attention to identity as a performance.

Sia’s strategy defies the obsession with appearance and youth, especially for women, and especially for women over the age of 30. Interestingly, as the result, she’s received an extraordinary amount of international attention, likely more than if she’d bared everything.

For women in music and the role of image in music more broadly, is Sia’s the face of the future?

Matthew Knowles Hit With Second Paternity Suit

Beyoncé might have a new half-sister, according to court documents filed against Mathew Knowles by a 30-year-old Houston-area woman.

In the petition, Taqoya Branscomb alleges Beyoncé’s 63-year-old father is also the dad of a female child born in 2010 in Harris County, Texas. Branscomb is attempting to make Knowles take a DNA test, and is also requesting child support and money for her attorney’s fees.

This is the second time Knowles has been hit with a paternity suit. In 2010, Knowles acknowledged that he was father of actress Alexsandra Wright’s son. News of the affair with Wright led to his divorce from former wife Tina after nearly 30 years of marriage.

In February 2013, Knowles was ordered to pay Wright $12,000 a month, but that figure was reduced to $2,485 a month by a judge after Knowles claimed his income had dwindled in recent years.

Knowles was the manager of daughter Beyoncé, who first rose to stardom with Destiny’s Child under his leadership. Three years ago, Beyoncé announced that she and her father had agreed to mutually end their business relationship. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly,” the singer said in a statement. “I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”

Mathew Knowles’ representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Beyoncé drops millions to build homeless shelter in Houston

Beyoncé is certainly feeling philanthropic this year! After donating half a million to Chime for Change, a global campaign that was created to help strengthen and unite the voices of young women around the world by inspiring them with “powerful stories” about inspiring women, back in June, news surfaced that Mrs. Carter didn’t stop there!

Recently, the Houston native dropped $7 million to build a low-income housing project in her hometown for homeless men and women and children. She was even dubbed a saint by her Pastor, Rev. Rudy Rasmus for her involvement with the church.

“She’s an incredible human being. Has an incredible heart and has been extremely helpful in our mission and our ministry here,” Rasmus said in a recent interview with KHOU.

“She has a global platform and is doing some amazing work and I’m glad she’s a friend of mine,” he continued. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie

Bryan Fuller on American Gods: 'I love Neil Gaiman's playground'

"I'd been a fan, I read the book when it came out over a decade ago, and loved the playground that Neil Gaiman created," Fuller told Digital Spy. "I think there's a fantastic opportunity for great imaginative television there."

Fuller went on to explain that the renewal of Hannibal for a third season had enabled him to commit to American Gods, which will begin production next year.

"Hannibal's ratings on NBC are not remarkable, so we never knew if we were going to come back for a third season or not," he recalled. "So I had started talking to Neil Gaiman and Fremantle about the possibility of doing American Gods, and just got really excited about the project.

"Then, when Hannibal got picked up, that's my first priority. But I was able to partner with Michael Geen on American Gods, so I would be able to participate in both worlds.

"The production on American Gods wouldn't even begin until well after we've wrapped prodctuion on season three of Hannibal."

Fuller and his writing team are currently breaking the fourth episode of Hannibal's third season, which will premiere on NBC in 2015.

Lol, so he was kinda looking for another job thinking Hannibal might be canceled?

Fox & Friends Advice for Women in the Workplace: "Don't Talk Too Much!"

0

In a segment that sounded like something out of the '60s, Fox & Friends dispensed advice to career-minded women Monday that included telling them to ““wear colorful tops”” and to avoid raising their voices under pressure.

Author Sylvia Ann Hewlett, who describes herself as an expert on gender and workplace issues, was on the Fox News morning show to promote her book Executive Presence: The Missing Link Between Merit and Success.

But the tips she offered were reminiscent of decades-old adages that suggest women should be seen and not heard.

“Keep it low; don't speak loud,” said TV host Brian Kilmeade at one point, trying to boil down the line of advice for women who might be watching.

Hewlett also stressed that the most important aspect of looking the part was feeling comfortable in one's own clothing, and she cautioned women against “[filling] the air with words… often times that undermines you, just rambling.”

Cara Delevingne prepares for Music Career under Simon Cowell's Syco

CARA DELEVINGNE has been taken under pop star Sinitta's wing as she prepares to launch her music career, although the model has yet to confirm her plans.

Reports that Delevingne was being signed by Simon Cowell's SyCo label - started when she was pictured leaving his London office earlier this year - became even more plausible when Sinitta, who often mentors acts alongside Cowell for The X Factor, revealed that she was working with the model and actress.

"It's a top-secret project and it's true that I'm helping her as a mentor," Sinitta told the Evening Standard, before advice from representatives lead her to clam up on the subject: "I'm sorry, I just can't answer that."

Sinitta, who was mentored by Cowell at the beginning of her own music career, did reveal that she intends to impart what she has learned over 30 years in the music industry on her young prodigy.

"It's about finding people who have natural passion," she explained, "and doing what Simon did with me: help them focus their creativity and ideas in a positive direction and give them an outlet."

She is a born and bred New Yorker. And Emmy Rossum proudly displayed her patriotism on America's birthday.

The 27-year-old posed in a red, white and blue striped T-shirt in an Instagram picture, before showing off her bikini figure in a throwback snap posted Friday, on the 4th of July.

In the first picture, Emmy is seen leaning against a garage door, displaying her toned legs in white cutoff shorts paired with sleeveless white and red striped top with the word USA written on the front.

She gave a further nod to the holiday in red trainers, and shielded her eyes with large sunglasses.

The Shameless star wore her brown hair loose and straight as she read a copy of the New York Times.

'What's more American than reading The New York Times, wearing red white and blue, and holding in your farts? #ItWasTheDog #HoldingItInForAmerica #july4 #NoFartsOnThe4th,' she cheekily wrote in the caption.

Teen Wolf 4x03 "Muted" Recap Post

0
0

In "Muted," the third episode of "Teen Wolf" for the season, the pack battles their growing number of problems, all while Scott and Stiles try to keep their status on the lacrosse team.

This weeks episode starts out with a boy trying to find his pet, he returns to his house and calls for his parents but they aren't there so he goes up a staircase and enters his room. After seeing paw prints he looks under his bed only to find his cat covered in blood that's when he heres his parents being attacked by a hatchet wielding figure. He begins to try to hide from the attacker who speaks in a strange voice and says he killed his family. The attacker then gives Shawn the victim instructions that would help him fight against him but he decides otherwise and escapes. The attacker is pale bald man large in stature with no mouth.

Meanwhile Derek is back to his normal self as he and his Uncle Peter enlist Braeden, to help them find Kate and the missing items from the vault. Stiles asks Scott what they are doing at practice when they have other problems to deal with, thats when we get a glimpse of a lacrosse goalie who doe not miss a save. Scotts mother is back at the hospital when Shawn falls through the doors arms covered in blood. Mrs. McCall and Sheriff Stilinski examines Shawn's families bodies.

Kira finds out that her parents expect her to move once again. Scott and Stiles approach Liam the new goalkeeper and learn that he was kicked out from his last school. Stiles begins to rattle off questions but Liam has all the answers for them in his statement. He also continues to help Malia fit in to a learning environment. Stiles receives a message from his dad about a family axe murder and informs Scott, when Scott is approached by Kira he avoids their conversation, mostly because it will be referring to their relationship. He asks to talk about it later and chooses to attend class while Stiles leaves to find out more about the axe murder.

The attacker appears to be feeding information to himself through a tube in his neck, in which a blood-like substance is traveling through. The Sheriff learns that Braeden, "The U.S. Marshall," or so she is for the time being, is on the case.

Scott is worried about his awkward moment with Kira and coach has quite the speech for the team. Tryouts begin and Kira and Malia sit to watch it all unfold. Stiles jokingly asks if Liam is a werecheetah because of his speed and stamina during tryouts, meanwhile Kira confides in Malia. Liam continues to show off and Scott can't seem to find the goal. Stiles tries to coax Scott into using a bit of his power to take back his position as team captain since he is struggling without them.

Back at practice Stiles and Scott are devising a plan to find out how Liam is able to be so perfect. They then begin to takeout anyone who gets in their way while defending the goal, but is up again and this time he manages to get around the two easily. They try Liam for a third time and Scott takes him out one more time and it appears as if Liam is seriously hurt. Scott and Stiles help him off and Kira saves Malia for a lacrosse ball to the face.

Meanwhile, the pesky Deputy walks in on Lydia at the scene of the family murder. Tyler and Braeden discuss the particulars of the weaponry used and she insists to him that he trust her. Tyler is still trying to figure out why his eyes have changed colors. Scott stumbles over his word in an apology to Kira and leaves her behind once again, but then comes back and gives her a romantic and reassuring kiss. This lets her as well as "Teen Wolf" fans where they stand.

Lydia explains to the Deputy about her situation and why she is in the house, she begins to see faces in the wood of the walls. After pushing on it she finds a secret passageway and the Deputy leads their way through the dark tunnel. They stumble upon a room that resembles a game locker but what they find are dead bodies instead.

Scott's mom tries to reach out the Shawn again and asks him if he need anything. After, she runs into Scott and Stiles who have brought Liam to get checked out after his run in with Scott.

Kira's parents are puzzled after no one shows up to the open house but realize that she doesn't want to leave. Stiles fights off Malia's advancements in order to help her with her studies and realizes they have more in common than he thought. While helping Malia, Stiles discovers why she doesn't understand Lydia's math notes; because it's not math, the handwriting is something completely different.

Scott's mother checks up on Shawn who has killed an officer and started eating his guts, he looks up says he couldn't help it he's so hungry and his features are completely changed he no longer looks human. As she approaches Shawn, Scott is racing to his mothers rescue. He begins fighting Shawn but he escapes and turns his attention holding Liam hostage. Scott tries to talk Shawn down and refuses a struggle ensues and Scott bites Liam to turn him and save him from dying when he falls. The mouthless attacker kills Shawn and saves Scott in the process. Scott then watches the attacker walk away and realizes what he has done to Liam.

This weeks episode was full of surprises and fills in most of the gaps we have in terms of the relationships and love interests. The search for Kate still continues and the team continue to find new obstacles int their way. Let's see where the pack ends up next week on "Teen Wolf" Monday at 10 PM on MTV.

"What could go wrong?" asks a Florida real estate agent."We're just mixing regular clothed people with some naked people – that's normal, right?"
It might be "normal" in Pasco County, Florida (aka the Nudist Capital of America) but it makes a heck of an interesting situation for realtor Jackie Youngblood, who stars in TLC's new series Buying Naked.
In a clip from the episode, Youngblood decides to hold a mixer to bring together her clothing-optional clientele with a group of realtors, mortgage lenders and home inspectors.
Keep up with your favorite celebs in the pages of PEOPLE Magazine by subscribing now.
"The 'suits' are going to be meeting the 'birthday suits,' " Youngblood says. "It's going to be interesting."
But the "textiles," as clothed people are called in Pasco County, act like wallflowers at a high school dance, sticking to one side of the room until Youngblood takes charge with some trust-building exercises, announcing, "I've got to get this party started!"

Brazil federation encourages fans to wear unsettling Neymar mask to World Cup semifinal

0
0

Though Neymar won't be able to play in Brazil's semifinal against Germany, the country's federation is supporting a campaign to make sure their opponents still fear his presence. A Brazilian couple came up with the idea to start a campaign to get fans to wear Neymar masks to the game using the hashtag #somostodosneymar (we are all Neymar). They enlisted an advertising agency to help spread the word and it has quickly gained support, even from the Brazilian football federation.

The knee to the back that fractured Neymar's vertebra, bringing a premature end to his World Cup in the final minutes of Brazil's quarterfinal win over Colombia, has largely overshadowed the host nation's victory. In fact, the squad was so upset about the loss of their leading scorer and undisputed icon that the team psychologist has been tasked with helping them cope. So while the real Neymar will only be at the semifinal in spirit, his paper, empty-eyed visage will likely fill the stands.
