This season of Glee has seen Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) win her dream role as Fanny Brice in a Broadway revival of Funny Girl. But are Michele and series co-creator Ryan Murphy, who owns the rights to the show, planning their own real-life revival of the iconic musical? Earlier this year, Michele gave interviews saying that the pair were indeed interested in bringing Girl to the stage.

Now, Murphy is confirming those discussions. While sitting down with EW for this week’s cover on his adaptation of HBO’s The Normal Heart, Murphy revealed, “I have the rights to it. It’s something that we’re talking about. I’ve never done Broadway. I’ve always wanted to. Right now, we’re just sort of testing the waters with different people.”

But he adds that the project has a ways to go. He says, “[Lea] and I have made no mistake of our mutual love for that property, so if it could come together at a time that she’d be willing to make that commitment to go back to Broadway — which I don’t know that she is right now — it would have to be the right director and the right leading man.”

Put away that duck face, Katie Holmes!

The Alterna Haircare co-owner and brand ambassador was spotted taking a duck face selfie (a big no-no in the selfie rule book) while attending a product launch for the brand on Wednesday in NYC. During the launch, she spoke about her experience at the Met Gala on Monday evening, dishing on why she missed the dinner as well as her opinion on Frank Ocean's performance.

"I had a great time," Holmes, who donned a Nina Ricci dress and Alaïa stilettos for the annual fashion fete, said. "Frank Ocean did a great job and the exhibition was divine. But I missed dinner because I went to the bathroom. It took so long to get to the bathroom and back."

Holmes shared her thoughts at the "intimate breakfast" which was attended by only about "50 people" (no other celebs attended) in honor of the launch of Alterna's new Caviar Replenishing Moisture Milk.

As a nod to the product, the "industrial space was converted into an all-white milk-themed event" which included a milk bar for smoothies as well as all-white flooring, according to an eyewitness.

"I love the ingredients that they use in the products," said Holmes. "I'm really excited about the Caviar Replenishing Moisture Milk product, especially after the winter we had."

Holmes flaunted her fashionable side in a purple chiffon dress which she paired with strappy sky-high sandals. She wore her hair down in soft curls and added minimal gold jewelry to her pretty ensemble.

While Holmes looked lovely as she promoted the product, the actress found herself on many a worst dressed list following the 2014 Met Gala after she rocked an over-the-top canary yellow dress which looked a lot like the gown worn by Disney princess Belle.

Austin Mahone is at the top of his game.

The 18-year-old singer, who recently teamed up with Allstate to promote safe driving for teens, is releasing his highly anticipated new EP ‘The Secret’ this month and is getting ready to head out on the road headlining a summer tour. Oh, and he just recorded a song written by Justin Bieber, and Mahomies + Beliebers can’t stop freaking out.

The ‘MMM Yeah’ singer chatted with PopCrush about all of his exciting new ventures, including new details about the JB track, his upcoming EP and even what the word is on a full-length album.

We think it’s great that you teamed up with Allstate to promote safe driving. Can you tell us a little bit about your involvement with that?
Yeah, so I teamed up with the Allstate Foundation to basically inform teens why it’s important to drive safe. I feel I’m new on the road, so it’s important to do these three main things: The first one is buckle up, the second one is slow down, don’t speed, and the third one is don’t let your friends distract you in the car. If they’re trying to take a picture or turn the radio really loud, tell them to just knock it off because it’s important to drive safe. And if anyone has anything more they want to know about the foundation, they can go to TeensGetThereSafe.com, and you’ll find some more tips.

What is it about this cause that makes it so important to you?
It’s important to me because … I’m new on the road, and it’s actually the number one killer of teens in America. That’s pretty insane right there.

Taking this stance definitely puts you in a role model position. How does it feel to know that your actions are impacting so many lives?
It’s amazing to me to know that my actions are impacting a lot of lives because a lot of people look up to me as a role model, and I think that’s amazing. I want to do my part to be a good role model to people and show them the right things to do.


Your second EP, ‘The Secret,’ is coming out on May 27. Is there one song on the release that is the most personal to you?
I would pick … there is one song on there called ‘All I Ever Need’ that I wrote myself, so that’s pretty cool. I was in my bathroom, and I wrote it in there, and I just got the idea and I just started writing … I write a lot of my songs in the bathroom. It’s really strange, but whatever works, right?

Since the EP is called ‘The Secret,’ do you have a secret talent or hobby that fans would be surprised to know about?
A secret talent or hobby… Hmm … I weirdly collect shot glasses. [I have] about 200. I usually get them from each place that I go to. [My favorite] is probably the one from Texas.


Home state souvenir! Do you have any plans to release a full-length album in the near future?
Yeah, I’m trying to get one out by the end of this year, around November or so. But if not, I’ll have one by next year.

That’s awesome! Would you include any of the songs from your previous EPs on there, or would it be entirely new material?
Definitely all new material.

Have you started recording any of that yet?
Yeah, I’ve been recording ever since I announced my EP ['The Secret'], so I’m always working on some music and new stuff. So, I’m gonna have a lot of cool songs that I’ve been working on to show everyone.

Speaking of recording new music, all of us at PopCrush are super excited about your collaboration with Justin Bieber. We know you’ve revealed some details about it already, but can you tell us a little more? Do you guys both sing on the track?
No, it’s not a [duet]. It’s a song that he had written and gave to me, so he was in the studio helping me record that. I’m not sure if it will come out yet, but if it does, it will probably come out by the end of the year or by next year.


What is the vibe of the song like? Is it like a ballad, or more upbeat …?
It’s not really a ballad; it’s kind of like a mid-tempo, R&B-pop type deal.

Can you share an anecdote from the recording session?
We basically just went in there and I recorded the song. [Justin] was in there helping me, giving me some studio tips and all that. It was a real chill vibe and it was a good time.

Did he give you any specific advice?
He was helping me out and giving me different tips on how to sing different words and how to warm up differently. Just stuff like that.


Do you have any other collaborations going on right now?
I have no other collaborations going on right now, but I’d love to collaborate with Drake. It’s definitely a dream, but I’m trying to make it happen as well, so hopefully some day I’ll get to do that.

Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend, and you and your mom are super close. Do you have any special plans for the holiday? Any special memory that you can share?
I’ll probably take her to a nice dinner or something. Something nice. It’s so hard [to pick one favorite memory] — we have a lot of special memories because it was just me and her growing up. We did a lot of fun stuff together; we did a lot of traveling. I remember one year we went to Albuquerque, [New Mexico] for the hot air balloon festival there. It was cool! It was a lot of fun.


What can you tell us about your upcoming tour?
I have my own headlining tour starting in July, and I’ll have Alex Angelo, Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes and the Vamps opening for me, so that will be really cool.

Fifth Harmony are known to be pranksters. Are you prepared for that?
Definitely! I have some pranks up my sleeve, but I can’t give away my tricks.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see in concert!

Bravo's drama development slate includes a television adaptation of The Rules Of Attraction.

Bret Easton Ellis's darkly comic book was previously adapted by writer-director Roger Avary for a 2002 film that starred James van der Beek and Ian Somerhalder.

Easton Ellis and Avary are re-teaming for this potential television version of The Rules Of Attraction - which will show a murder mystery from 12 different points of view - for Bravo.

On the heels of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s renewal for a second season last night, ABC also announced the official pick-up of Agent Carter: a series centered around the popular Captain America character played by Hayley Atwell, based on the one-shot of the same name first released on the Iron Man 3 DVD last year.

True to form, Marvel is keeping the details of the project under tight lock and key. But until we can confirm more at ABC’s Upfront presentation next week, here’s what we do know: the series will most likely be a short order (13 episodes or less) that would air as a “bridge” during the hiatus period of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It will be set in 1946, with Peggy working for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) while also fielding covert missions for Howard Stark during the earliest days of S.H.I.E.L.D. (No word on specific casting, but it’s rumored that Dominic Cooper will be a recurring guest star.) It will focus on Peggy’s role as a woman in a post WWII world, when the men are returning from war and she is finding herself highly marginalized, while attempting to deal with the aftermath of her love, Steve Rogers. Should the series be successful, it will most likely continue as a short order, similar to the Mad Men model of moving forward a year or two in time with each new season (likely ending or leading up to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s complete formation.)

So why should we be excited about Agent Carter? (Aside from the obvious answer of getting to watch the amazingly talented Hayley Atwell own our TV screens once a week.) A female protagonist, a period setting, and an open field of storytelling are only some of the qualities that the series offers, all of which promise to help make it successful. In the wake of our enthusiasm, we break them down below. [WARNING: Slight spoilers for Captain America: The Winter soldier to follow.]

Perhaps we should just cut to the chase and address the main reason behind our excitement: leading lady Hayley Atwell. Atwell’s Peggy Carter became a break-out character after the first Captain America — a strong, capable female officer/superspy who, when infused with Atwell’s trademark emotional charm, resonated strongly with viewers on both sides of the gender scale. She not only proved that she could hold her own among a mostly-male driven ensemble that included Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Tommy Lee Jones, but her portrayal of a woman who wasn’t afraid to move forward nor let herself become defined by her losses made her an instant fan favorite across the board.

Agent Carter’s straight-to-series order means that although a pilot was written, there wasn’t anything specifically filmed to present to the network before securing a green light. It’s safe to say that the Agent Carter one-shot, as well as the character’s presence in both Captain America movies, was more than convincing. Still, that alone should signify the strength of the character, and how much the network believes that there is a strong enough storyline to build a series on — and how much faith they have in Atwell as a female lead, when it’s been years since a woman has headlined a live-action project from either Marvel or DC.

A Well-Oiled Machine

If you’re familiar with the material that you’re producing, and if you’re familiar with the background behind it, you tend to create pieces that resonate with your audience. Marvel understands this, and it’s why Jon Favreau directed two Iron Man movies (and continues to consult on them.) It’s why Joss Whedon is directing the second Avengers film. It’s why Anthony and Joe Russo are returning for Captain America 3. While Agent Carter will be helmed by two females outside of the Marvel universe (Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, showrunners on Resurrection), the pilot script was written by Winter Soldier scribes Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus. And with production by Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb, who has spent the past year helping to bring Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to life, it’s clear that the series has the potential create a show that will cater to what fans want to see.

The 1940s

Let’s be honest: is there a better setting than record players, smoky lounges and the jaunty pop music of The Andrews Sisters? We know that shows set in certain time periods of ye olden days can be successful (hello, Mad Men) and the fact that Agent Carter can hinge itself on that “idealistic” setting lends itself perfectly to the type of drama that the show should be. Sure, there will probably be big explosions and high octane situations — this is television, after all, and there are things called ratings and sweeps. But setting Agent Carter during this specific point in history means that this series should also be able to ground itself in the quietly strong roots of espionage and detective work. We saw it work in Winter Soldier, where we were able to take the characters of Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov and place them against a background that was less mythological and more reality-grounded. And if the Agent Carter short is any indication, there’s a lot to be explored on that front.

POPSUGAR: Dorothy has long been beloved by little girls, and Legends of Oz introduces her to a whole new generation of young fans. What did you most enjoy about voicing such a revered character?

Lea Michele: It was really incredible. From the minute they approached me with this film, all of the flashbacks of watching Wizard of Oz as a child came back. I felt so honored that they trusted me to play Dorothy, a role that was originated by Judy Garland. It was really incredible. We've been working on it for a very long time now, so the fact that it's finally out is so great.

PS: Who were some of your own favorite characters from TV, literature, and film as a child?

LM: I grew up on Broadway, so for me it was really all about the female actresses on stage and all of the characters from shows like Les Misérables and Cabaret. That was my world growing up.

PS: You have a book (Brunette Ambition) coming out in a couple of weeks. Can you talk a bit about that?

LM: I guess that for me, I feel like I've developed a very healthy and happy lifestyle here in Los Angeles over the past five years of living here and working on Glee. My fans always ask me for tips on beauty and fitness and fashion. I really wanted to have the opportunity to share those tips with them and give them a bit of a peek inside my life so far. I look at it as another way to connect with them.

PS: Tell us about the process of making an animated film. Your costars included Kelsey Grammer, Megan Hilty, and Martin Short — to name just a few. Did you actually work with any of them, or did you record on your own?

LM: You basically just get to go to work in your pajamas. You come to work and snuggle up, it's really great! It is hard, though, because it comes with a lot of detail, and being very specific. There's a lot of repetition and what not. For me, not having to do my hair and makeup is the greatest part. I didn't work with anyone else — you just do all of your stuff by yourself, and then they tape it all together.

PS: Mother's Day is this week, and our site is all about family. What's the best piece of advice that your mom ever gave you?

LM: To wash your face before you go to bed was the best advice. And to not give yourself a hard time is the most important thing. Be really kind to yourself, and don't put too much pressure on things.

PS: Will you be spending Mother's Day with her?

LM: It's a sensitive subject! I'm actually flying to New York for something on Mother's Day, but won't be with her. I'm making it up to her, though — I'm taking her on a really fantastic vacation.

My more serious picks would include Zangoose, Flygon, Milotic, Dusclops and Salamence (the common factor here being that they all look cool).

And note that for those of you wondering if the legendaries on the covers are mega evolutions or not, Serebii reports that the Pokemon Company says they're "never before seen Pokémon"—so this could either mean a new forme, Mega Evolutions, or something else altogether. The Seattle Seahawks star and TIME 100 honoree, who just signed a $56 million contract extension, talks about the upcoming NFL Draft, the lessons from his famous post-game interview and why the NFL would react differently if it had its own Donald Sterling

When you heard the racist remarks of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, what was your reaction?

I wasn’t really shocked or anything. Because of what I saw after the incident after the NFC championship game. You’ve got a lot of racial backlash, and a lot of racist comments that were uncalled for – I can never see a time where racism is called for. So it didn’t shock me as much as it would have had I not experienced that personally, had I not seen those things.

Because it showed me that America still had some progress to make. On equality, and understanding that it doesn’t matter what color you are, you treat people as people. And whether a good person or a bad person, you don’t judge them off the color of their skin. You can know a person is a good person or a bad person by who they are, not by what they look like. In that situation, it just seems like a lot of people gave him a lot of flack, well deserved, but you know – I feel like a lot more people were surprised then they should have been.

That’s why a lot of people shy away from the conversation that I forced on us in January. People want to it to be done, they want that uncomfortable truth to be over with, they want the racism to be done, they want to believe everything is great and hunky-dory. And it’s not. There’s a lot of racism still alive and still active. And it just forced America to rethink it once again. And to really, really understand that racism isn’t gone. We have to actively push it out. And snuff it out.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Donald Sterling for life. Do you think if an NFL owner made similar comments, would commissioner Roger Goodell react in the same way, and do you think an owner would be banned for life?

No I don’t. Because we have an NFL team called the Redskins. I don’t think the NFL really is as concerned as they show. The NFL is more of a bottom line league. If it doesn’t affect their bottom line, they’re not as concerned.

Do you hope the Sterling incident can be a touchstone to force some change on the Redskins issue?

I would hope it would help. It’d help reinitiate the conversation. And at least there would be another discussion. You know, I think the discussion has stopped. And the public has just accepted it. And I think there should be more conversations. But it is what it is.

You’re confident that the NFL would not have reacted like the NBA did because they already have a team name like the Redskins. So to you, that says a lot, right?

It does. It says a whole lot.

Since everyone seems to have an opinion on Johnny Football (Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel), have to ask: do you think he’ll be a good NFL player?

I have no idea to tell you the truth. I’ve seen him play. I think he’s a great player. And he did a great job in college. You know, it can translate very well into the NFL and you can have the next Brett Favre, the next great quarterback. Or it cannot transfer well. You never know until they put pads on, and step onto an NFL field. We’ve seen a lot of average college players turn into great NFL players. We’ve seen great college players turn into great NFL players. We’ve seen great college players turn into terrible NFL players. So you really never can guess how the game’s going to translate until he goes out there and puts it on tape.

So you’re not one of those guys who’s automatically convinced he’s going to be an overhyped bust?

No. Because I’m one of the guys that believes you’re gonna be who you will yourself to be. So if he believes he’s going to be a great quarterback, and he puts in the work, who’s to stop him? I mean, they say his size. But I’ve sat here and watched Russell Wilson win a Super Bowl.

Do you think college players, particularly big stars like Manziel, should be paid?

I do. I think even if they were paid an hourly wage, it’d be quite an improvement from what they get. And you know, I understand the arguments about they’re getting their education paid for, they’re this that and the other, but there are people on academic scholarships that don’t have to deal with any extra rigors. They get their education paid for. And they don’t have to deal with eight hours a day of football, and you know, if you mess up your knee you’ve got to deal with two hours of rehab everyday. So that’s 10 hours of your day gone, and there’s only 24 in a day. So, if they just gave him an hourly wage, even if they gave him 10 bucks, 12 bucks an hour, that’d be a vast improvement over what they got now.

How do you think an NFL team will react to having Michael Sam, the draft prospect from Missouri who announced he was gay back in February, in its locker room?

I think it’ll play out just fine. I think that’s a big deal being made about nothing. I don’t think guys will make a big deal about it in the locker room. I think he’ll be fine. You know, the thing that’ll hurt him is if he doesn’t play well. If he doesn’t play well, it doesn’t matter if you’re straight, gay, or indifferent. If you can’t play, you can’t play. You can play, you play. And the NFL is a real bottom-line league. And that’s the bottom line.

You attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and got a shoutout from President Obama. What was that like?

I was in awe. It was hilarious after I got past the shock. But it was an incredibly surreal experience for me, to get shouted-out by the president.

How would you characterize these last few months, since your post-game interview, the firestorm it caused, and the Super Bowl win?

It’s been a whirlwind. A lot of apprearances. A lot of attention. A lot of people wanting to get your opinion about things, and it’s just something you’ve got to accept, and something that you have to temper a little bit. You have to temper your emotions and try to stay stable. And also try top stay on your routine.

Did you learn any lessons from that whole experience, being in the media firestorm and sparking a heated national conversation because of the interview?

It showed me how fleeting opinions are. And how opinions and people’s choices and I guess criticisms are rarely based in fact. A lot of times they are knee-jerk reactions, a lot of times they’re based off of media perception, you know, what they can see on the surface. Surface perception. And that a lot of people don’t take time to delve deep into things before they make an opinion, or make a criticism or make a remark. And that’s OK. That’s the society we live in, it is what it is, you have to accept it.

Do you have any regrets about the interview?

I don’t. Because I said exactly what I meant to say. Truthfully, I expected it to get some attention, but I didn’t expect it to overshadow the performances of the game. And us winning the NFC championship. I didn’t think the media would take it that far, but they did. And so once they took it there, we had to change the discourse. But, um, yeah, I was frustrated that a lot of people didn’t acknowledge the great game that [safety] Kam Chancellor played, the great game that [linebacker] Bobby Wagner played, [running back] Marshawn [Lynch] had a good game, [wide receiver] Doug Baldwin had huge catches the whole game, and [wide receiver] Jermaine Kearse made the catch to put us ahead. And you know those are the things that frustrated me a little bit about the incident.

Have you had any contact with Michael Crabtree at all?

I have not.

It's Happening! The Young and the Restless Is Looking To Cast A New Phyllis Summers!!!!!!!!



In the next issue of Digest, Michelle Stafford (ex-Phyllis, Y&R) dishes about signing on to GH as Nina, why she didn't return to Genoa City, and so much more. "GENERAL HOSPITAL and ABC were both very tenacious and made it almost impossible to say no," she tells us.

With Michelle Stafford signed on to play Nina Clay on General Hospital, The Young and the Restless has put out a casting call for Phyllis Summers Newman.

The character has been in a coma since Stafford's exit last August.

Y&R is seeking a 35 (lol what? she's in her damn 50's!) year old actress with the following description: "Phyllis is beautiful, smart and conniving. She is confident in her own sexuality and is unafraid to use it to get what she wants. She knows she has power over men and many times has used it, both to her benefit and to her detriment. She definitely has an edge."

On Y&R, Phyllis has been in a coma since tumbling down the stairwell thanks to a key incident that involved Sharon’s paternity secret of Summer!

The groundwork has clearly been laid as of late to have Phyllis return. Now that Jack Abbott is falling in love again and this time with Kelly Andrews, ain’t it about time for Phyllis to wake up and shake things up for Jack and Kelly and Nick and Sharon?

Maite Perroni Didn't Get Vaccines Before Shooting in Dump, Strives for Realness!


Maite Perroni is very dedicated to her new role in La Gata and has been steadily working on the telenovela for two months.

She recently admitted that before shooting in Bordo de Xochiaca, which is known as the largest dump in Mexico City, she did not get any vaccinations.

"I haven't vaccinated myself against anything," she said, according to Terra. "You take precautions in any place or any circumstance, but you do have to be careful because, at the end of the day, we work with our body and physique."

Shooting in Xochiaca has been an important part of the story because it lends realism to the story. Perroni plays La Gata, who collects garbage and lives in poverty. Her life changes when a rich man takes her under his wing.

"It might look like we are telling a story that doesn't exist, but the truth is that we are in a space that allows us to have complete authenticity," she said. "There's not a set or anything false. Everything is 100 percent real and authentic."

The hardest part for Perroni is the travel. It's an hour-and-a-half trip every day, so she has to mentally prepare herself for a three-hour round trip. Perroni and her co-star Daniel Arenas recently shot opening credits as well as teasers for the show, which premieres in Mexico next week.

Perroni said the videos showed a little bit of two different worlds, both of which she will get to be a part of. Many of the clips have Perroni looking exactly the same: frizzy hair, black dress and a bit of dirt on her face. There hasn't been too much of her new look revealed.

The actress also explained how happy she is with the role. "I think 'La Gata' is a project that allows me to develop in the areas I most like, music and acting," she said to El Mañana. "With this novela, I'm super happy that it's a story that moves me very much. And each episode that I see makes me excited, and it has a good rhythm. We are telling a very real story."

The last time General Hospital's Jane Elliot (Tracy) won a Daytime Emmy was 1981 — the year Ronald Reagan moved into the White House. Isn't it about damn time she took home another? That said, Elliot's current nomination in the supporting actress category comes as quite a stunner, not because she isn't deserving, but because she has refused to submit herself for Emmy consideration for the past 20 years. What changed her mind?

TV Guide Magazine gave Elliot a ring shortly after the noms were announced on Thursday morning to get the answer. But more important: Who's doing her roots for the awards now that Deidre Hall has a broken wrist? Tragedy!

TV Guide Magazine: Hey, Jane, congratulations. So are you celebrating over at your place?

Elliot: When you called I was in the garage doing laundry. [Laughs] It's been such a glamorous morning for me! Sheets and towels. Cleaning the sink. Taking out the garbage.

TV Guide Magazine: And then you're off to shop for your ball gown?

Elliot: Yeah, right. I got an email from [soap historian] Gary Warner today telling me it's been 33 years since I won my Emmy — 33 years! Marriages have come and gone, children have been born, grown up, gone off to college and gotten married and had children of their own during that time. Astounding! Where else in this business can you be up for an award on the same show that many years apart? That's the fun part of this for me. It's also the good news and the bad news. The good news is I could possibly win again 33 years later so I must be doing something right.

TV Guide Magazine: And the bad news?

Elliot: [Laughs] Is this the only damn thing I can do? It can go either way with me. It just depends on which neurotic hat I'm wearing.

TV Guide Magazine: You've avoided being on the Emmy ballot for many years. When was the last time you were submitted?

Elliot: When I was working with Gerry Anthony [Marco] on GH — so we're talking 20 years ago.

TV Guide Magazine: What the hell is wrong with you? Aren't actors supposed to kill for gold trophies?

Elliot: I'm in this business for the fun part — the make believe. That's my reward, my joy. I love nothing better than to get all the nuts and bolts out of the way — show up on time, with lines learned, clear on what the director expects of me, with my buttons buttoned and my jewelry on correctly — and then I completely commit to play acting. It's a child's game for grownups. Nothing thrills me more than to be good at something. It's very rewarding and I feel grateful and blessed and I never take it for granted. Yet, at the same time, I don't take it too seriously. I'm not curing cancer or running a small county. I haven't developed a greener car. I just play act. And if I can bring people a moment of fun and relief in their lives, well, that's the win.

TV Guide Magazine: Why did you agree to be on the ballot this time?

Elliot: As usual, I said no and [GH executive producer] Frank Valentini put his foot down and would not take no for an answer. That is how much he believes in me, how much he cares. I have never had a producer go out of his or her way to support me the way Frank does. [Former GH executive producer] Gloria Monty refused to submit me for the Emmy the year I won, so I submitted myself just because I was so pissed that she refused to do it! Frank is the only one who ever said, "You'll be submitted this year, whether you like it or not. It's not up for discussion." And, so, here we are. Submitting myself for awards feels like a weird kind of horn-blowing that's not comfortable for me. I'm really happy when someone likes my work but I don't like marketing myself, putting myself on display. For an actor, I'm an odd duck. So I don't know what to tell you. Ooh! [Laughs] Yes I do know what I can tell you! Deidre Hall broke her arm so I don't know who's going to do my roots for the Emmys!

TV Guide Magazine: Wow, that's right! This is ghastly! What are you going to do? America needs to know.

Elliot: The timing couldn't be worse! Deidre tripped over her own foot in Zumba class, which therefore means women of our age should not be taking Zumba class. Note to self: No Zumba! So Dee trips and when she goes down she tries to support her weight with her hand and shatters her wrist. She needed pins and plates to repair the bones. I took her to the surgery last Friday.

TV Guide Magazine: Was it her hairdo hand? Don't leave us in suspense!

Elliot: It was her left hand but doing my roots is a two-handed job so this is dire! [Laughs] But here's the good news: If she had opted for no surgery, she would have had to wear a cast for six weeks. But with surgery she only has to wear a cast for two weeks. As luck would have it, GH is dark for two weeks and then I'm off for two weeks because Tracy is supposedly out of town. So I said to Dee: "You have one month, exactly, to get better, and then you're going to have to figure out how to do my roots!" And she will. She is one determined woman.

TV Guide Magazine: Where do you keep your Emmy?

Elliot: In a box...

TV Guide Magazine: A box where?

Elliot: In the garage.

TV Guide Magazine: This is so psychologically twisted!

Elliot: It's right in the same box with my Soapy awards and my theater trophies. My landlord recently put a new roof on the garage and I emptied everything out of there because there was going to be all this falling crap. I took out all of the boxes except the one with my awards. I just left it there. That's how removed I am from all of this. Somehow to get an award for something I get so much pleasure out of just doesn't seem right. [Laughs] Oh, puh-leeze stop making me talk about this!

Neil's Son Returns!


Neil's life has been a little complicated of late on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, and it may become even more complicated! Soaps In Depth has learned exclusively that Moses, the son he shares with Sofia, is about to re-enter his life in a big way!

A rep for the soap has confirmed that four-year-old Randall L. Smith has been cast as Moses, and he first reports to work this Friday, May 9. The tyke has done some commercials in the past, but this is his first big job. Look for him to first air on Thursday, June 12.



GH’s Haley Pullos and Jimmy Deshler Win Young Artist Awards!


In ceremonies held on May 4, in Studio City, California, General Hospital’s Haley Pullos (Molly) and Jimmy Deshler (Rafe) walked away with top honors for their performances in a daytime television series during the 35th Annual Young Artist Awards!

The Young Artist Association each year honors excellence of young performers between the ages of 5 to 21 in the fields of film, television, theatre and the internet.

GH’s Haley Pullos bested castmate Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma), along with Y&R’s McKenna Roberts (Mattie Ashby) and Johnnie Ladd who played a teen aged Delia on Y&R to win the Best Performance in a Daytime TV Series – Young Actress prize. This is Pullos’ fifth win at the Young Artist Awards!

Meanwhile, GH’s Johnny Deshler bested Y&R’s Daniel Polo (Ex-Jamie) to win the Best Performance in a Daytime TV Series – Young Actor. Kimberly McCullough (Robin, GH) was also on hand and presented the awards to Pullos and Deshler.



B&B And Y&R Stars Engaged!


Congratulations are in order for Linsey Godfrey (Caroline, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) and Robert Adamson (Noah, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS)! Not only are they expecting a baby girl in June, but the couple recently became engaged!

"We were such slackers about it," Godfrey admits. "We actually got engaged on New Year's Eve. We told our family and friends, but we didn't make a huge formal announcement about it. We weren't sure we were going to make one and then we decided against it and just started calling each other 'fiancée.' We want the baby to get here and be a little bigger and then do all the official stuff!"

Ever since Bradford Anderson's Spinelli left GENERAL HOSPITAL, fans have been hoping for his return, and Soaps In Depth has learned that he willl soon be back! A show rep had no comment, but it's likely that Anderson's return will be a relatively brief one.

Now that Maxie's back in town, it's about time for the Port Charles family court to revisit the judge's decision to grant Spinelli sole custody of daughter Georgie. So Anderson will probably appear only long enough to settle that issue once and for all.

Blanca Soto Signs Exclusive Deal With Telemundo!


Telemundo announced on Monday it had signed an exclusive multi-project deal with acclaimed Mexican actress Blanca Soto. The television, film and stage actress has starred in popular telenovelas such as Porque el amor manda, Talisman and Eva Luna, as well as in English-language productions such as the comedies Deep in the Valley and Dinner for Schmucks. She also has appeared in several music videos, including Billy Currington's "Must Be Doin’ Something Right," winner of the hottest video of the year award at the Country Music Television Music Awards in 2006.

“We are delighted to have Blanca join Telemundo Studios to contribute to our upcoming original productions,” said Joshua Mintz, Executive Vice President of Scripted Programming and General Manager of Telemundo Studios. “She not only brings to our productions her great talent and beauty, but also a successful career both in English and Spanish-language entertainment."

The actress and her husband Eduardo Rivero Lake welcomed a baby boy to their lives on Wednesday.

His name? Sebastian!

Terrell Tilford Joins Y&R


The Young and the Restless has cast soap alum Terrell Tilford as Leslie’s new husband, Barton.

Soap Opera Digest reports the actor begins taping May 13 and will appear on-screen exactly a month later, on June 13. Last month, Y&R sent out a casting call for Barton, describing him as “an African-American doctor in his late 30s to early 40s, handsome, intelligent, and a highly capable surgeon.”

Leslie met Barton through a dating website just weeks after breaking off her engagement to Neil. Leslie shocked Neil when she revealed she and Barton ran off to Las Vegas and got hitched! How Barton’s arrival affects Neil should be interesting. Though the series is building a triangle between Neil, Hilary and Devon, Neil’s feelings for Leslie remains in the background.

No stranger to soap operas, Terrell Tilford began his soap career as David Grant on CBS’ Guiding Light from 1998-2001. In 2008 he briefly appeared on Days of our Lives. A year later, Tilford was cast as Dr. Greg Evans on ABC’s One Life to Live, exiting the soap in late 2010.

After departing One Life to Live, Tilford was cast in VH1′s Single Ladies as Sean Clarke. Other credits include Soul Food, Half & Half, All of Us, Girlfriends, CSI: New York, Bones, 24 and The Protector.

Van Hansis Talks Not Being Out While On ATWT!


We first fell in love with Van Hansis during his stint as the groundbreaking Luke Snyder on As The World Turns, and Luke’s relationship with dimbulb explosives expert Noah, and lovably crusty trainwreck Reid. Van garnered three Emmy nominations for the role, and he helped open the floodgates for gay characters on daytime drama.

Van moved to TV roles and a few indie films after ATWT, but came roaring back into our lives when he co-starred in the web series phenom Eastsiders, as Thom, one half of a troubled couple. Eastsiders will be back for Season Two, and the show’s creator (and Thom’s partner on the show), Kit Williamson sat down with Van to discuss the show and his career.

It’s a great interview, as Van talks about the impact that Luke had on Daytime TV, and the differences and similarities between Luke and Thom, and then this happens:

You were out in your personal life, but you didn’t speak out about your sexual orientation at the start of your career. What was your hesitation?

I guess it was a combination of a lot of things—It was my first job, it was a different time back then in regards to LGBT stories being told—I mean, the Luke story was groundbreaking at the time. Now, I think every remaining soap has a gay storyline. I was completely green, fresh out of college, and honestly, I was scared.






The Week In The Year 2013!



Celia overheard a conversation between Pete and his friend that misled her about Pete's intentions. Pete managed to smooth things over with Celia and to persuade her to give him a second chance. Cassandra was kidnapped by a sex ring that was operated by the Russian mob. Cassandra's captor fed her some addictive pills to make her more compliant then later ordered her to earn her keep. Angie learned that Jesse had sent Cassandra a plane ticket to return home. Jesse was forced to admit to Angie that he didn't know where Cassandra was. Dixie pleaded with Adam to forgive JR because their son needed them. AJ ran into David during a visit with JR in the hospital. Dixie feared that David would try to worm his way into AJ's life. Dixie's prayers were answered when JR opened his eyes and called out to her. AJ was suspended from school for hitting a fellow student who had made inappropriate remarks about Miranda. AJ planned a special evening for Miranda to cheer her up. David overheard Cara tell Griffin that David could never find out about what had really happened to the baby. David accused Cara of aborting his child.






Brooke couldn't believe it when Dr. Caspary confirmed that Brooke was pregnant. Brooke confided in Donna about it and toiled over whether to tell Bill. Caroline poured her heart out to Rick about her feelings for him and her fear that she was losing him to Maya. Rick told Maya that he wanted to be with her, but Bill threatened to expose Maya's past if she didn't stay away from his niece's boyfriend. Steffy and Hope made an uneasy peace with each other at Thomas' beach house. Steffy decided to take her motorcycle home to skirt around a traffic jam, and she swerved and slammed on her brakes when a car jutted out in front of her.






Kristen taunted Eric about Marlena and John's past indiscretions. Kristen was overwhelmed when Brady offered to adopt a child with her. Touched by his kindness and love for her, Kristen went to the secret room at the DiMera mansion to think. John followed Kristen to the secret room, where they talked about the happier times in their past. Brady nearly caught John and Kristen in the secret room together. Sami failed to convince Stefano's associate to give her the evidence against Will that he had stolen from the police station. Jennifer and Abigail were surprised to see J.J. back in Salem. Jennifer was furious when she learned J.J. had been expelled from school for dealing drugs. J.J. told Jennifer that he could explain his side of the story and hoped that she would believe him. E.J. and Justin continued their plan to take down Stefano. Rafe told Nick he knew Nick had forced Will to give up his parental rights because Will was gay. Rafe threatened Nick and said that he planned to tell Gabi about what Nick had done to Will. Nick attacked Sami and forced her to return the $30,000 that she had stolen from him. Nicole continued to fight her feelings for Eric. Someone attacked Rafe on his way to meet E.J.






Luke and Laura decided that it was time for them to go their separate ways. Scott was delighted when Laura offered to set a wedding date. Elizabeth agreed to go to New York City with A.J. for an overnight trip to promote Pickle-Lila on a national television show. Elizabeth was furious when she realized that Nikolas and Tracy intended to ambush A.J. on television. Elizabeth told Nikolas that if he loved her then he would leave A.J. alone. Tracy severed her partnership with Nikolas when he informed her that neither of them would appear on the cooking talk show with A.J. Tracy received divine intervention to escape from Nikolas' guards. Lulu had several flashbacks of her life before the abduction. Ellie told Spinelli about Maxie's miscarriage, but then claimed that Maxie had been impregnated again with one of Dante and Lulu's other frozen embryos. Luke tracked down Ava Jerome, the mother of Franco's daughter. Luke was unaware that Ava was hiding Morgan in her home while the teen figured out how to deal with his gambling debt. Ava persuaded Morgan to contact his family, so he called Michael. Morgan's situation turned dire when two thugs found him. Molly told T.J. to find another prom date when she learned that T.J. had given Rafe a black eye.






Victor played back his conversation with Téa about their baby in his head. He sat down at the computer and typed something in. He ended up on a website entitled "500 Ways to Kill." An affectionate Vimal let it be known that he didn't want Rama to get dressed for work at the club. Dorian sat in front of her computer and watched a commercial she had filmed. In the commercial, she said that the country should be focusing on "life and death issues" and that anything else was not in the best interest of the citizens. Dorian visited Viki at the Banner office. Victor let himself into Todd's hotel room, and he replaced the liquor in the decanter with liquor from a new bottle.






Adam suggested to Victor that they turn Newman Enterprises back into a private company. Victor wanted his other children to use the money they'd won in their settlement to buy back Newman shares. Victoria plotted to take over the company and throw Adam out, but Nick and Abby wanted nothing to do with the corporate battles. Adam obtained the funding to enable him and Victor to reclaim the company. Victoria hired a private investigator to dig up the bombshell that Adam had intended to reveal at Victor and Nikki's wedding. Chelsea planned to tell Dylan the truth about her baby's paternity, but she chickened out after she learned that Dylan had mourned the loss of his baby with Avery. Dylan and Chelsea bonded over his sketch of a baby cradle, and they shared a kiss. Avery returned Dylan's dog tags. After some harsh words from Dylan, Nick reunited with Avery. While trying to explain his connection with Rose to Leslie, Gus died from another heart attack. A mysterious blogger posted excerpts about Leslie from Neil's private diary. Tyler ignored Lily's calls. Traci's arrival interrupted Jack's plans for a surprise romantic dinner for Phyllis. Traci objected to Jack and Phyllis' relationship, and Jack ordered Traci to move out, but Phyllis insisted that Traci stay. Summer suggested that she and Kyle pretend to date to discourage Fen's possessive behavior toward her. Paul demanded that Lauren tell Michael about her affair. Michael put the pieces together himself, and he confronted Lauren about sleeping with Carmine.

What's the first thing Jon Hamm did when he saw his wax figure unveiled Friday at New York's Madame Tussauds?

Took a selfie, of course.

"That's a no-brainer. I'm probably not done doing that either," he told The Associated Press.

The wax figure is decked out in a debonair-looking grey suit. Ironically, Hamm, who stars in the AMC drama "Mad Men," arrived at the unveiling wearing a grey suit.

"This is happenstance, but it is kind of crazy how kind of identical we decided to dress. I'm referring to him as a human being as if he dressed himself," he said.

As Hamm posed for photos next to the figure, he also joked about the stoic expression on the mannequin saying "a lot of people would say this kind of describes my acting (on 'Mad Men'). A lot of waxy stares, a lot of silent brooding."

Hamm was joined by his longtime girlfriend, actress Jennifer Westfeldt, who kept marveling at how uncanny the figure looked like him.

The 43-year-old actor is in the middle of a publicity blitz for his new movie, "Million Dollar Arm," which opens May 16.

"Mad Men" is airing the first part of its seventh and final season.


These 6 Madame Tussauds wax figures are pretty terrible


It’s a big deal for celebrities when they’re cast in wax by Madame Tussauds — and for the most part, the finished products range from pretty similar to straight-up uncanny.

Jon Hamm’s the latest star to get the waxy treatment, and the results are quite respectable.

But what happens when the Madame gets it wrong? Things get ugly. Literally.

Air travel can be great for a lot of things—napping, catching up on reading trashy mags, and binge watching “Game of Thrones.” Maintaining your fitness regimen? Not so much. Hours of sitting, jet lag, and the occasional grogginess from a sleeping pill get in the way of getting in a good workout. While burning 1,000 calories might not be possible 30,000 feet in the air, there are some mini-workouts you can actually attempt on a plane.

We went to the experts, the folks who train people who take a lot of airplanes—famous people. Here, five of Hollywood’s top trainers share their plane (and airport) exercise tips:

Owen McKibbin

Who: Personal trainer for Zac Efron, Blake Lively, Jessica Simpson, and Penn Badgley.

The Workout: An airplane bathroom is probably the last place you want to spend your time when traveling, but frequent trips there can actually help to sculpt your body. “When you’re up and waiting in the line for that miniature restroom you can do a mini workout,” says Owen. "When you’re in flight, I also recommend drinking large amounts of water because it will force you to actually get up, walk, and use the restroom."


Legs: In the airplane bathroom or while waiting in line, give me 20 standing calf raises. If there is enough room, I want you to give me 20 squats. (Ed note: He ain’t messing around.)

Arms and Chest: When you are seated again, I want you to do isometric chest squeezes by crossing your arms in front of you and squeezing your pecks. After 20 reps, bring your elbows back down to your side, so that they are resting on the inside of the armrest. Press the outside of your elbows against the inside of the arms rest. Press and hold for 10 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. Do three sets of the isometric chest squeezes followed by the isometric shoulder moves each and every time you get up to use the restroom.

Who: Beverly Hills-based celebrity personal trainer for Khloe Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and Angelina Jolie.

The Workout: Breaking a routine can be detrimental to maintaining a fitness regimen, so Gunnar recommends having a sweat session before heading to the airport. “I go to the gym before I leave. Yes, even at 2 or 3 a.m.,” he says. If you’re not asleep after the midnight workout, then some quick exercises can add that extra boost of toning and cardio when traveling. “While flying, be aware that being sedentary reduces circulation and increases fatigue. So, brief bouts of movement when traveling is good for the joints and helps with mental acuity.”


Legs: While still in the terminal do single (or double) leg squats using the luggage cart to balance. Turn your carry-on into a dumbbell by using as a weight for suitcase squats. Up in the air try knee raises to work your legs.

Arms: Make use of your luggage cart while in the airport by doing presses or push-ups off your suitcase.

The Workout: “I’ve been on two world tours with Madonna and I know traveling can be stressful,” says Nicole. “But, there’s some easy tips that will keep you in the moment—stress free and toning muscles.”

First Up: Start with your butt! While seated, keep feet firmly planted on the ground. Pull belly button to the spine. Squeeze butt cheeks and abs in, hold for five counts, and release. Repeat 10 times.

Waist: While seated, pull your abs in. Squeeze in stomach as hard as you can. Slide your ribs to the right, hold for one count, then slide your ribs to the left. Hold for one count. “You may not be your neighbor’s best friend, but if he or she asks you what you are doing, you will inspire someone to join you.”

Inner Thighs: While seated, bring feet off floor two inches, squeeze butt cheeks, and connect your knees together. Hold this position for three seconds and release. Repeat 20 times. “This is great for toning legs.”

The Workout: Sometimes smaller movements make more of an impact to target the accessory muscles,” says Joey. “These exercises are perfect for toning up during your plane ride because they do not require a lot of motion.”


Abs: While in your seat with legs comfortably bent, lift your legs up off the floor and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 12 times.

Triceps: Place your hands on the armrest and straighten your arms to lift yourself up and down, squeezing your triceps and keeping your elbows pointing behind you. Repeat 25 times.

Biceps: Using one arm at a time, grab your backpack or purse with your right hand, and curl it up until your arm is bent at 90 degrees. Hold for 30-60 seconds and repeat on the other side for the same amount of time. Perform four to five on each arm. Bonus if you have a water bottle or laptop in your bag—anything to add extra weight.

Legs: From your seat, extend your legs until your feet curl under the seat in front of you. Push as though you’re trying to lift the seat up with your feet by squeezing the quadriceps and holding for 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times. If you’re feeling brave, perform alternating lunges up and down the aisle of the airplane. Since your space is limited, hold each step at the bottom for 10 seconds before switching. Do 12 on each leg. For a more advanced burn, pulse ten times when you’re in the lowered position with your back knee hovering just over the ground.


The Workout: Layovers, delays, and missed connecting flights can be a small blessing when it comes to squeezing in a workout. The simple act of walking (or running if you’re late) can help keep you in shape when there’s no gym in sight. “I wear a Fitbit when I travel to make sure I’m at least moving when I’m at the airport,” says Harley. “Then I focus on sleeping and eating right while on the plane.”
Cardio: Make sure to get in a ton of steps at the airport before. Keep moving until you are on board.

Arms: Do tricep dips off the bench at the gate.

Diet: It’s also important to bring healthy protein-packed snacks on the plane. I like Oberto Beef or Turkey jerky. Also, almonds, and roasted chickpeas are great. Hydrate yourself with caffeine-free beverages like Smartwater, Vitamin Water Zero, and Fruitwater.

Verka Serduchka, the most famous drag queen in Ukraine and the Eurovision 2007 runner-up, knows a thing or two about clothing. She caught up with wiwiblogger Deban Aderemi in the Eurovision press centre on Tuesday and gave us a piece of advice. “Wear dark glasses and go to Zara…no need for Dolce & Gabbana. Why pay more?” As for footwear, we may follow Verka’s example and steal shower slippers from our hotel.


Verka had a veiled message for Aram Mp3 when we asked if she had any advice for the contestants: “Don’t say bad things about Conchita Wurst”.

And she refused to be drawn into tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
