Kimye VOGUE sales no match for Bey, outselling Rih

$

00
Anna Wintour’s decision to put Kim Kardashian with Kanye West on the cover of the April issue of Vogue was originally seen as a controversial move for the brand, but one which had huge upside if the ensuing uproar drew new readers to newsstands.

Early estimates were saying the controversy was going to push sales to the 400,000-to-500,000 level, easily outselling the 355,000 copies that Beyoncé sold on newsstands for the March 2013 cover, and also eclipsing the year-ago April cover of Michelle Obama that sold around 269,000.

Now, as the “Kimye” issue goes off sale and real numbers begin to trickle in, it looks like actual sales will fall way below early estimates.

“The trends for Kim K. are definitely better than the prior month with Rihanna, to the tune of 20 percent better,” said Josh Gary, vice president at Mag Net Data, who uses scan data from wholesalers that cover about 98 percent of the market.

“I’d argue that if you peg last year’s Michelle Obama at 269,000, this issue will net out around 250,000,” said Gary.

Myah Marie received a lot of flack from the Britney Army for singing on songs she wasn’t credited for on “Britney Jean,” and now homegirl’s found herself in another steamy pot full of vegetables.

She recorded a song back in the day that was posted on her official website (it was since removed) called “Don’t Take My Kids From Me” sampling “Piece Of Me.”
It completely destroys Brit Brit.

I was miss preteen wet dream
When i was 17
I lip sanch and
Pretended to sing
Got breast implants
And a wedding ring

Then i flashed all my privates they put pictures in the magazines

Don’t take the kids from me Don’t take the kids from me

I started hittin the bottle
Lost all the titles of role model
Hitched in vegas
Forgot it
Did all the things that i wanted

And with a kid in the car dont need a seatbelt
Or protection
Don’t take the kids from me
Don’t take the kids from me

I’m misses lifestyles of the hicks and trailers
Don’t take the kids from me
I’m misses oh my god that hair she shaved it
Don’t take the kids from me
I’m misses now i have a double chin
Don’t take the kids from me
I’m misses don’t we miss when she was thin
Don’t take the kids from me

I’m misses don’t take the kids from me
Try then pissin me off
I’ll take an umbrella to your car
Just try flippin me off

And now were gonna make a scene
And i wont show up to court
Now are you sure u’ll take the kids from me

Don’t take the kids from me

I’m misses most likely to walk around naked in the shoppin mall
Doesn’t matter cuz i’ll do a line or two to forget it all
No wonder theres panic in the industry i mean please

Don’t take the kids from me Don’t take the kids from me

I’m misses lifestyles of the hicks and trailers
Don’t take the kids from me
I’m misses oh my god that hair she shaved it
Don’t take the kids from me
I’m misses now i have a double chin
Don’t take the kids from me
I’m misses don’t we miss when she was thin
Don’t take the kids from me

I’m misses preteen wet dream
When i was seventeen
It matters when i walk with barefeet
And leave my kids with whomevers free

Aren’t they sick of the pictures of my privates in the magazines.

I cannot.

David Cronenberg's Maps to the Stars will be premiering at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival this month as one of two films star[ring] Robert Pattinson will be taking to the Croisette, the other being David Michôd's The Rover as one of the Midnight Selections.

Maps, however, is playing in competition and today three clips have arrived online for the film written by Bruce Wagner (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, State of the Union) as a biting Hollywood satire exploring the demons of our celebrity-obsessed society.

Along with Pattinson the film stars Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Sarah Gadon, Mia Wasikowska, Evan Bird and Olivia Williams and is currently without a domestic release date, which will like depend greatly on the Cannes reaction.

rs_634x1024-140503105914-634.Robert-Pattinson-Blond-Friend-Date.jl.050314

Rest assured, ladies: Robert Pattinson is still living the single life.

After rumors recently surfaced that the actor is getting cozy with blond beauty Imogen Ker, a source tells E! News that the duo is "definitely not dating." Furthermore, we're told that the two are just friends.

Reports began swirling after the two were spotted leaving the Little Door in Los Angeles together around 1 a.m. on Friday, however, while it at first appeared that the two were out together, there were additional pals present, including Jamie Strachan, Dakota Fanning's boyfriend (Fanning is rumored to be good friends with Ker).

Mystery solved!

Pattinson was last spotted hanging out with Katy Perry during Coachella, fueling rumors that he was dating the "Dark Horse" crooner, or her stylist friend Cleo Wade (both turned out not to be true).

And prior to that, the Twilight hunk was rumored to be dating London-based artist and painter Nettie Wakefield although a source close to R.Pattz told E! News exclusively that he and Wakefield are "very good friends and are definitely not dating."

The 27-year-old actor and Kristen Stewart pulled the plug on their nearly four-year relationship in May 2013 and while Twilight fans hoped the two would reconcile, it seems the former lovebirds have indeed called it quits for good.

Since the split, rumors surrounding both actor's love lives continue to swirl, although neither Rob nor Kristen have yet to settle down since the breakup. The two have been spotted together once since the split (which was fueled by a cheating scandal), although they have yet to reunite since the sighting in October.

Get in line, ladies!

Lady Gaga & Taylor Kinney Hear Our Prayers, Pose For Family Portrait

Even though Lady Gaga and her man Taylor Kinney have been dating since 2011, photos of the two of ‘em together are more elusive than Mariah Carey during hide-and-seek. That’s why we’re open-mouthed, silent-screaming at this mirror selfie that the “G.U.Y.” singer posted on Instagram, which shows one of the cutest couples of pop with their new dog, Asia.

It looks like the three are backstage at Atlanta’s Philips Arena, where Gaga played her second artRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour show on Tuesday night. Hmmm, the 28-year-old singer did mention offhand that Asia was watching on the first night of the tour in Fort Lauderdale, but we thought she was kidding. Then again, we guess batpigs would be nocturnal…

Anyway, after reading the caption (“Gypsy life”), we can’t help but think of the ARTPOP track’s lyrics: “I don’t wanna be alone forever/ But I won’t be tonight.” Cute! That’s almost heart-warming enough to distract us from THE RING ON TAYLOR’S RING FINGER.

After some deep investigative reporting (i.e., taking a couple mirror selfies and comparing reflections and angles), it appears that the band is on Tay-Tay’s RIGHT hand, whereas wedding rings traditionally reside on your left. Besides, if there were a ceremony, we’d definitely be invited, and our mailbox has literally been a woven blanket of cobwebs for weeks. #delusional

They're both actresses, and, judging from a recent outing, they're both chic dressers.

On Tuesday Kate Beckinsale showed just how fond she is of her mother Judy Loe when she stepped out in London in an outfit that was similar to the 67-year-old matriarch's.

Not only did the two have on matching grey scarves, but the 40-year-old Underworld star also copied her mum's love for animal print. While Kate sported leopard, her mother wore zebra.

The Orwells x Arctic Monkeys starring in: White Boy Feud

$

Alex Turner defends Arctic Monkeys over concert criticism - Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has spoken out after the band's former touring partners, The Orwells, criticized the rockers for performing the same "synchronised" show at every concert.

The Orwells served as the support act for the Brainstorm hitmakers on their tour earlier this year (14), but alleged that the group played the same gig every night, even down to the quips Turner gave to the crowd.

Guitarist Matt O'Keefe told Gigwise.com, "When you're playing arenas and everything, it's a huge production then the show has to become synchronised to work... So every night no matter how he (Turner) was feeling he'd go into that opening riff. It was the exact same ad-libs he was putting between the songs. So we were with them for about 50 dates, you saw them once and you'd pretty much seen every date that they'd played."
.

.
Now Turner has finally responded to the criticism, saying, "They should have been out trying to get laid instead of watching us every night."

He added, "I don't think that's fair (to call it synchronised). There comes a time on a tour when something works and you tend to leave it alone. We have been changing it around a little bit.

"You can't mess around with it too much. It's almost like the show isn't designed to be watched by the same person every night. Nowadays people share the set lists, but I'm by no means f**king phoning it in. It's not like we have (pre-recorded) tracks, we're up there f**king doing it."

Some background:

The original comments made by The Orwells -

Explaining what they saw, guitarist Matt O'Keefe said: "When you're playing arenas and everything, it's a huge production, then the show has to become synchronised to work. So every night, no matter how he [Alex Turner] was feeling, he'd go into that opening riff. It was the exact same ad-libs he was putting between the songs. So we were with them for about 50 dates, you saw them once and you'd pretty much seen every date that they'd played."

However, frontman Mario Cuomo did not approve: "You don't have to take that route," he said. "You can get that level of success with those size venues, that sort of thing, but still treat it as a spontaneous show at a small club. So it all just depends on the band, what they're going for and what they feel comfortable with. I would feel super uncomfortable if I knew what I was going to say in between songs."

And the semi/sarcastic apology they later offered -

frontman Mario Cuomo joked about the furor over the band’s words, announcing: "That's from our new album, 'AM'". He then added: "We would never slag off the biggest band in England right now."

#21 – Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

When Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy unfolded on our screens many declared it the first ‘real’ version of Batman in cinema. What they mean by that is that it’s the closest to Frank Miller’s version of the character – the dark, mysterious and gritty vigilante that has become the template for Batman since 1986. This remarkable story shed the camp and goofy image of the character in favour of the Dark Knight we know today. An older, retired Bruce Wayne returns as Batman and sends shockwaves through Gotham. An amazing read.

3

#25 – Batman: Knightfall

There’s a reason why Batman comic readers were giddy about Bane appearing in The Dark Knight Rises. When the villain was introduced in Knightfall he launched an elaborate scheme against the Bat. After bringing down the walls of Arkham Asylum and leaving the inmates to run amok in the city he runs Batman through a gauntlet of foes, leaving him physically and psychologically exhausted, before the iconic confrontation at Wayne Manor.

#27 – Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon

Perhaps the most surprising comic-book series in recent memory, Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye exploded onto the scene in 2012 to phenomenal reviews and utter enjoyment by fans.  The series literally couldn’t stay on the shelves as it became pretty difficult to grab a copy of the first handful of issues in this run.  Clint Barton is one of my all-time favorite comic characters so to say that this series struck a chord with me is a bit of an understatement.  It’s drawn in a gorgeously “throwback” style while exploring the personality of a hero we haven’t really known this way before.  It’s oftentimes dialogue-heavy with a focus on character-development and less on high-flying theatrics – though that’s not to say that the action isn’t furious and well balanced.  It’s a delightfully engaging read that I couldn’t put down from day one as I found myself more and more in love with the brilliant writing.  If you come away wanting to read only one of the newer graphic novels from this article than I urge you to go with Hawkeye, you won’t regret it.

6

#28 – The Ultimates: Super-Human

Marvel would have been smart to make this a more heavily promoted book to coincide with The Avengers in cinemas. Unlike the main Avengers comic series new readers can enjoy this without knowing the extensive backstory and wide array of characters. Iron Man, Capt. America, Thor, Giant Man, Hulk, Wasp, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and others are introduced like new characters and embark on some truly spectacular city wide battles.

7

#29 – X-Men: Days of Future Past

Chris Claremont’s two issue story published during the early days of the second incarnation of X-Men created ripples through the canon that are still being explored today, and forms the basis for the next feature film. The story takes part on two timelines, beginning with one far in the future. Following the assassination of a senator pushing for mutant registration the US government unleashes a horde of giant, mutant hunting robotic Sentinels to handle matters. The machines take control of the country (in the interest of keeping the peace) and the few remaining heroes struggle to survive underground. Kitty Pride telepathically merges with her younger self to help the modern day X-Men avert the horrible fate.

Daily Mail apologises and pays 'substantial damages' to JK Rowling

The Daily Mail has printed an apology to the author JK Rowling in which it states that it has paid her substantial damages over an article that claimed she had told a misleading "sob story."

The article, published on 27 September 2013, suggested she had falsely accused churchgoers of stigmatising her because she was a single mother. It was headlined "How JK's sob story about her single mother past surprised and confused the church members who cared for her."

The paper admitted liability in January, when it agreed to publish the correction and pay damages to Rowling. But the Mail disputed details of the settlement.

In the high court last month, Mr Justice Tugendhat that Rowling could make a statement about the case despite objections from Associated Newspapers, the Mail's publisher, about the contents of the statement.

He ruled that "there is no sufficient reason" for refusing Rowling permission to read it.

Wednesday's apology, at the foot of page 2, states:

"Our September 28, 2013 article 'How JK's sob story about her single mother past surprised and confused the church members who cared for her' suggested that JK Rowling made a knowingly false and inexcusable claim in an article for the Gingerbread charity that people at her church had stigmatised her and cruelly taunted her for being a single mother.

In fact Mrs Rowling recounted only one incident where a visitor to the church sitgmatised and taunted her on a particular day. We accept that Ms Rowling's article did not contain any false claims and apologise for any contrary suggestion and have agreed to pay substantial damages to Ms Rowling, which she is donating to charity, and a contribution to her legal costs."

Bradley Cooper And Sugary Teahouse Engaged?

$

Bradley Cooper showcased his buff new look last night as he attended the Met Ball alongside stunning other half Suki Waterhouse and the couple looked amazing as they were snapped arriving at Rihanna's after party following the celeb-filled bash. But the real question of the night in terms of the Hollywood couple is - are they finally engaged?

Suki could be seen wearing a rather large rock on her wedding finger earlier on in the evening as she walked the red carpet without her other half and as the pair were spotted arriving at Rihanna's after party later on in the night, she conveniently put her hand in her pocket as she clutched onto Bradley's with the other.

Bradley has recently gained a whopping 40 pounds or so for his upcoming role in American Sniper and he looked rather protective of his other half as the pair made their way into the NYC venue, after they were snapped walking the red carpet separately at the celeb-filled event.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Suki's career is flying in London. She's one of the hottest people on the London fashion scene and doesn't want to lose momentum."

"But Bradley is keen for them to live closer together, and has his home and production company, 22, in LA. He's trying to tempt her to move so they won't have to fly around the world to see each other."

Lea Michele's Inspiration List

$

If we had to choose one way to describe Lea Michele (besides "funny," "gorgeous," and "extremely talented"), we would pick "inspirational." Not only does she play one of the most musically dynamic characters on television, she also has an incredible outlook on life and a repeat-worthy album to boot.

But off the stage and outside the studio, the star is (somehow) even more admirable, supporting charities for everything from LGBTQ youth to homelessness, and serving as an ambassador for L'Oréal's Women of Worth, which is all about celebrating those who make a difference in their communities through philanthropy."I feel so blessed to have such a cool job and a great life and family," she says, "but at the end of the day, giving back is truly what makes it all worth it." Um, role model much?

So obviously Lea inspires us, which got us thinking: Who (and what, and where) inspires her? We asked her to share her biggest influences—and now they can be yours, too.

Favorite Female Performers
From one Teen Vogue cover girl to another, "Lorde is amazing. She writes all her own songs and they're like poetry."

"Sia is an incredible singer but also a fierce song writer. Her songs are so powerful, raw, and truthful."

"I loveAlanis Morisette. She's so amazing! All of her songs are lyrically so beautiful and vocally she's so strong."

Favorite Movie
If you've ever seen an episode of Glee, this answer may not come as a surprise to you: "My favorite movie is Funny Girl. I love Barbra Streisand and her character Fanny Brice is so inspiring. She's a woman trying to balance fame and love and she always leads with her heart which I admire. But she's so strong and true to herself."

"Anywhere in New York City brings me inspiration. Just walking down the street while listening to music makes me feel strong and confident."

Worst celebrity yoga workout show-offs on Instagram

here's nothing quite as disheartening as seeing your Instagram feed full of smug yogis when you're about to tuck into your weekly Nando's.

Even more so when they're attractive celebrities. We get it, if you can do a downward dog or a bridge pose, you want to show it off.

But do you have to do it every single day Hilaria Baldwin? And in weird places at that (we're talking cars and baby cribs)?

From Miranda Kerr to Alessandra Ambrosio and Madonna to Naomi Campbell, here are celebrities that just can't stop showing off while doing yoga.

Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse
The supermodels show us doing yoga by yourself is for losers as they create a fancy yoga pose in New York.

Gisele Bunchen
What is it with supermodels and yoga? Giselle Bunchen joins fellow Victoria's Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr in the yoga craze.

Alessandra Ambrosio
Didn't you know? Doing yoga at the gym is so uncool. Alessandra Ambrosio does it in the desert instead.

Michelle Rodriguez
Because a headstand is always better in front of a Bugati sports-car. Obviously.

Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell might have taken a tumble or two on the catwalk, but when it comes to yoga, she's as steady as a rock.

Is 14 Too Young to Get Married? Clip from 'My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding'

"If she was 16 that's understandable...but 14 is not acceptable"

Yes, "Romeo and Juliet" features some of the most romantic dialogue Shakespeare ever wrote -- but it's not quite so alluring when you think that Juliet was barely a teenager. With that in mind, you might understand why "Gypsy Sisters" star Nettie Stanley wasn't all that thrilled when her daughter Nukkie wanted to run off with her very first boyfriend, Pookie Small (don't you love these names?). It's "Romeo and Juliet" Gypsy style, with bad clothing and neon pink nails! In this exclusive clip from "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" (Thurs. May 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET), get a glimpse of Nukkie and Pookie's rush to the altar.

After two years, Nukkie finally has her mom's support (or has just worn her down) and it's all systems go for a wedding. Alas, Nettie isn't too thrilled about her new in-law Dovie Small, so there's always the chance the wedding could go up in flames or at least end in a fistfight. It won't be the classiest wedding, but it could be the most explosive!

Kylie Minogue would love to duet with Madonna

In a recent AskMeAnything on Reddit, Kylie Minogue was asked once again about a duet with Madonna…

Question: When is the damn Madonna/Kylie duet going to happen?!?
Kylie Minogue: Good question. Who knows. Of course I would love to duet with the icon herself. Let’s see what happens.

It’s not the first time Kylie Minogue has mentioned Madonna.
In a promo interview for her latest album with the Huffington Post…

HP: Over the years you’ve worked with some great artists and songwriters. Is there anyone left on your wishlist?
Kylie Minogue: So many!

HP: What about Madonna?
Kylie Minogue: Of course! That would be incredible! It’s like maybe the world would stop mid orbit! Yeah, it would be incredible. I don’t know if it would ever happen. Maybe it’s something that will live in our imagination.

Interview with LOOK magazine…

(I also admire) Madonna.
She is still the Madonna she was when she was 17;
She’s never going to be anyone else.
She’s amazing.

Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen…

She was a massive inspiration, still is…
My favourite Madonna song? So many, but I’m particularly fond of Borderline.

I only met her twice, but we have a few friends in common, so I kind of feel like I know her. Well, we all feel like we know her a little bit, because she’s an icon, but I can’t say that I do know her.

"Spring Breakers" sequal coming your way, courtesy of "Trainspotting" writer

$

0

Look at my shee-yit... again. Yep, what started as iffy-sounding, blog-based rumor a couple of months ago seems now to have become a real thing: Harmony Korine's girls-gone-wild provocation "Spring Breakers" is getting a sequel.

French sales and production company Wild Bunch this morning revealed an intriguing slate of titles that they'll be hawking this month at the Cannes market -- the parallel universe of low-profile and/or unproduced projects that runs busily alongside the film festival itself. Among them were a number of exciting-sounding ventures from name directors, including Gaspar Noé, Paul Verhoeven, Arnaud Desplechin and reigning Palme d'Or winner Abdellatif Kechiche.

Naturally, however, the project that has grabbed all the headlines is "Spring Breakers: The Second Coming." A follow-up that will reportedly feature a mix of old and new cast members -- don't count on Selena Gomez returning, at least -- it will follow the original Breakers as they declare war on a group of militant Christians out to rescue them from their debauchery.

Unsurprisingly, the first film's writer-director Harmony Korine isn't on board. But get this: the screenplay has been written by Irvine Welsh, the Scottish author of cult novel "Trainspotting." Swedish director Jonas Akerlund will take the helm: though he's directed three previous features, most recently the Matt Lucas comedy "Small Apartments," he remains best known for his music videos for such artists as Madonna, Beyoncé, U2 and Lady Gaga.

Wild Bunch head Vincent Maraval states, “It’s not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original.” Sounds to me like a direct-to-DVD cash-in, in a similar vein to "American Psycho 2" -- a mostly unrelated follow-up to a film that, like "Spring Breakers," boasted more cult cachet than box office muscle. Even if you're one of the many who admired "Spring Breakers" (I wasn't, though it made Kris' Top 10 last year), it seems to me a film best appreciated as a kind of stateless mirage; there's little to be gained from going back there.

Anyway, for more details on Wild Bunch's slate -- which includes Kechiche tackling teenage male sexuality this time in "The Real Wound," and a Nicolas Winding Refn-produced remake of "Maniac Cop" -- check out the Screen International rundown here. As for the "Spring Breakers: The Second Coming," are you down for it? Or is it best to let sleeping Aliens lie? Tell us in the comments.

Danzig sues the man who ruined The Misfits

According to various sources, former Misfits frontman Glenn Danzig is suing current Misfits bassist Jerry Only over rights to a lucrative merchandising deal with Hot Topic. Additionally, Danzig claims that Jerry Only registered trademarks “for everything Misfits-related in 2000″ behind the singer’s back.

The Misfits’ iconic mascot, known as the ‘Crimson Ghost’ or the ‘Fiend Skull,’ is one of music’s most recognizable symbols. An insane amount of Misfits merch has been created featuring the piece of art, but according to Glenn Danzig, he’s been missing out on a large chunk of royalties from the merch sold.

Reported by Re-Tox, Danzig has filed suit against Jerry Only, whose real name is Gerald Caiafa. On April 3, Glenn Danzig filed a complaint with the California Central District Court claiming Trademark Infringement. Gerald Caiafa has been named as the defendant, along with Cyclopian Music Inc., which was formed by Jerry Only and former Misfits guitarist Doyle in 1987.

The Trademark Infringement suit dates back to a 1994 contract, in which Danzig, Jerry Only and other agreed to share ownerships of Misfits trademarks for merchandising purposes.

Interestingly enough, according to Noisey, Danzig added a little sting in Section 9 of the complaint:

After forming the band, Danzig replaced the original bass player with Caiafa, whose primary qualification was that he had recently received a bass guitar for Christmas.

As for the merch itself, Hot Topic currently lists a ton of Misfits items, including shirts, music, bags, socks and even bikinis on the shop’s website.

Stay tuned for more info on Glenn Danzig’s lawsuit against Jerry Only as news breaks.

from loudwire
This is for the 5 people who know The Misfits. Jerry Only has slowly been ruinning the band and the image that was built. Everything from changing lyrics and making it family friendly. They made a deal and surprise, Only is being a jerk. Danzig needs more kitty litter!

Now a rep for the Miami County Sheriff's office in Ohio tells TMZ they've assigned a deputy to investigate after they were contacted by the girls' high school. Maj. Steve Lord tells TMZ the girl who threw the shovel could be charged with assault or disorderly conduct.
