Focus Features has acquired US distribution rights to London Has Fallen, the sequel of the 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen. Star Gerard Butler will return for the sequel written by Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt and Christian Gudegast. The film is being produced by Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, and Matt O'Toole. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson, Christine Crow, and Focus Features CEO Peter Schlessel will executive produce. Focus Features plans to release the film nationwide on October 2, 2015.

Schlessel stated, "'Olympus Has Fallen' took audiences by storm, and we're excited to raise the stakes with 'London Has Fallen' as Gerard Butler returns in the lead. Moviegoers can expect another action-packed thrill ride."

The sequel begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable secret service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.

Paula Wagner, An Ann, Naomi Foner Team Up For Flying Tigers WW2 Epic

With a budget of up to $50 million, the movie will tell thereal-life tale of a brave nurse who helped the legendary squadron.

Leading Chinese producer An Ann will team up with Paula Wagner, Tom Cruise’s production partner, and screenwriter Naomi Foner to make a movie based on the WW2 ‘Flying Tigers’ airmen.

An, who is president of Desen International Media, said the budget for Moon Flower of Flying Tigers would be between $40 million and $50 million, with A-list Chinese and Hollywood stars, and it would be directed by a famous Hollywood director.

“I am looking for a Hollywood director who is interested in that period of history to work with us. This film will be a co-production,” An told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Besides our own capital, there are also investments from America. Paula Wagner and I will produce this film together,” she said, adding that she hoped the movie would be a Sino-U.S. co-production. Among Desen’s credits are Tiny Times and Ip Man 2.

The film is based on the novel of the same name and it tells the the story of Rita Wong, a Chinese nurse who cared for injured US airmen from the group known as the Flying Tigers during World War Two.

Known in Chinese as Huang Huanxiao, Wong escaped Hong Kong when the Japanese invaded in 1941 to join the Flying Tigers, which was the nickname for the American Volunteer Group that formed a fighter group that trained in China and defended the Burma supply line to China over the Himalayas known as the "Hump" before the United States entered the war in 1941.

The airmen, whose planes were painted with shark teeth, were known in China as "Fei Hu" for their courage. Flying Tigers became a movie starring John Wayne in 1942.

Wong died aged 95 in 2007 and her story is truly epic, as she traversed the war-torn country before pitching up to help the airmen. Flying under General Claire Lee Chennault, the Flying Tigers were originally part of the Chinese Air Force, and then later absorbed into the U.S. 14 th Air Force.

Wagner, who produced the Mission:Impossible series with Cruise, and Foner traveled with An together to Yunnan province in the southwest of China to research the movie, and they hoped that lensing could begin later this year or early next year.

“In recent years, the media has reported how John Woo, Tom Cruise and I have all been preparing films about the Flying Tigers, so Chinese audiences are not unfamiliar with the theme,” said An.

“However, as regards the detail of the film itself, there are not too many domestic news reports. It means that people have a limited knowledge and are hugely curious about the war, the heroes, about love on the battlefield,” she said.

“We will reflect that part of history, the cruelty of war, the relationships between human beings, weakness and the sublimation of human nature,” said An.

Although casting hadn’t begun, one of the stars being mentioned is Foner's son Jake Gyllenhaal.

“The focus of this film is the war and love. We will balance the action and romance. We will interpret the touching love story in that war in a modern perspective and with modern technology. Love is about two loving hearts making sacrifices and contributions that are noble and beautiful,” she said.

The Flying Tigers story has attracted a lot of interest over the years but except for a handful of other propaganda movies during WW2 there have been no significant projects since John Wayne’s.

John Woo says he will start production on a two-part movie-TV miniseries about the Flying Tigers after he finishes work on his latest epic, The Crossing.

EXCLUSIVE: Todd Chrisley kicked to the curb! Bankrupt reality star loses home to bank

article-2613364-1D6D27FB00000578-819_308x185

It looks like it might soon be moving day for reality star Todd Chrisley and his brood of eight—downsizing from his lavish 30,000 square foot Rosewell, Georgia home to a two-bedroom condo in Atlanta.

According to court documents obtained by MailOnline, Chrisley, 45, the sharp-tongued family patriarch of Chrisley Knows Best, could soon lose the family’s mansion to the bank if it’s not sold first.

A new court order entitles the bank holding the million dollar mortgage on the two-acre estate to foreclose on the property. Until now, Chrisley had been shielded from foreclosure after he filed for bankruptcy protection in 2012.

chrisley15n-8-web

Now the court has given U.S.Bank the green light to repossess the home that serves as the backdrop for the popular reality series that has been signed for a second season.

But a buyer may save the day. According to Suzanne Close, a broker with Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty, the home, which went on the market in March for $2.4 million, is now under contract for an undisclosed sum.

But where does that leave Chrisley, who owes close to a million dollars on the house?

His only property that is not on the line is a two-bedroom condo in Atlanta!

The fifth floor unit, located at 620 Peachtree in Atlanta, is completely paid off. It is a 1,750 square foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom, condominium unit worth $300,000.

article-2613364-1D513DB900000578-778_634x616(2)

The family is also in danger of losing two more of their four properties. In addition to the family home, Todd is also facing foreclosure on the house occupied by his mother, Grandma Faye. He defaulted on a $33,000 loan and she and Todd’s oldest son Kyle, who had been staying with his grandmother, are about to be forced out.

Grandma Faye’s $500,000 house, located in Alpharetta, Georgia, has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and is 3,000 square feet.

The third possible casualty of Todd’s bankruptcy is his four bedroom, four bathroom, 4,324 square foot lakefront vacation retreat located in Seneca, South Carolina, 37 miles from Greenville. The house was purchased for $1.425 million, however with back payments and penalties the amount has swollen to over $1.688 million.

article-2613364-1D5BA65700000578-728_634x443

When Todd filed for bankruptcy he listed more than $4.2 million in assets but claimed his debts were amazingly, over $49 million!

According to LALATE.com Todd’s financial empire literally collapsed overnight after Todd and Julie lost a lucrative contract with Fannie Mae, where most of their fortune had been built refurbishing foreclosure properties and selling them for a fat commission.

Todd allegedly owned a company called Executive Asset Management, LLC and made $8 million in 2004, which he sold that same year.

In 2008 he launched Chrisley Assessment Management, where the bankruptcy trustee claims Todd was withdrawing over $500,000 per month in income from the business. The trustee went on to exclaim Todd and Julie own — or owned — homes in resorts in Florida and South Caroline as well as the large estate in Atlanta.

In addition, the trustee explained Todd also owned a condominium in Los Angeles and leases a substantial residence in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

However, according to a recent search of real estate documents Todd, only owns the four properties now and his wife, Julie, a former beauty queen who has her own fortune, is not listed as a co-owner on any of them.

article-2613364-1D5B367500000578-869_634x362

Todd also reportedly owes the IRS more than $500,000 and he even borrowed $4.4 million from his wife to invest in the business.

Todd and his wife, Julie, who have five children and two grandchildren, proudly boasted on the March 11, 2014 premiere of the show on USA Network that they live in a gated community with many celebrities, including the “The Voice” judge, Usher.

He went on to brag that his family spends at least $300,000 a year on shopping sprees.

The sprawling 30,000-square-foot mansion includes a gourmet indoor kitchen as well as an outdoor one, a living room that is so large it’s takes up an entire floor, a huge spa bathroom next to the master suite, nine fireplaces, a theater, grotto, wine cellar, elevator, saltwater pool and, of course, his infamous walk-in closet full of his designer clothes that he has separated by the different seasons.

Todd may not be able to save all or any of the three properties but he has already started to bounce back with his reality show and as a result of record ratings the USA Network has already renewed the show for a second season.

'Perfection should be something you should strive to be.' Todd explained on the show, 'I expect a certain standard, I want us to live a certain way.'

Marc Webb Wants Spider-Man & X-Men Crossover

Marc Webb is curious about a Spider-Man and X-Men crossover. The 39-year-old director - who recently helmed 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' - addressed the idea of the web-slinging hero meeting the mutants after 'X-Men' producer Simon Kinberg insisted it would be ''the dream.''

Webb - who doesn't think it will happen any time soon - told MTV news: ''[I] would be certainly curious about it. ''Certainly there's precedent in the comics for a crossover. I would love to see it as a fan.''
Before he added: ''I'm not in control of that.''

Webb admits part of Spider-Man's appeal is his ability to overcome problems alone.
He added: ''A big part of Spider-Man is him being alone and having to face the problems in the world and his own problems alone. ''That's part of what makes Spider-Man so great.''
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' recently hit the big screen with Andrew Garfield in the lead role of Peter Parker and Emma Stone starring as his love interest.

'Sharknado 3' to Take a Bite Out of Summer 2015

0
0

It seems that the skies will be full of sharks for the foreseeable future: Syfy has greenlit "Sharknado 3."

The network, which ended up with an unexpected hit on its hands when the first "Sharknado" flick aired last summer, hasn't even broadcast the second film in the franchise yet ("Sharknado 2: The Second One" is due out in July). But the social media sensation -- and handsome return on a paltry $250,000 investment in the first film -- was too much for Syfy to ignore, and the network is capitalizing on the campy concept's so-bad-it's-good popularity.

Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, who starred in "Sharknado," are back for the follow-up, and according to Adweek, they're expected to return for the third installment, too, provided they don't fall victim to any airborne shark attacks. The first film was set in Los Angeles, and the second is set in New York City; the location of the threequel is being kept under wraps for now, though it will be in a different city.

We're not sure if either "Sharknado" sequel will feature any scenes half as ridiculous/awesome as Ziering diving into a shark chainsaw-first and hacking his way out, like he did in the original, but we'll certainly be tuning in to find out.

"Sharknado 2" premieres on Syfy on July 30. "Sharknado 3" is set for a summer 2015 release.

Whatever. Sharknado will never be as magestic as this bb.

People You Have No Idea Are George Clooney's Friends React To His Engagement

Now that George Clooney plans to tie the knot with Amal Alamuddin, friends and colleagues of the newly engaged couple are thrilled and offering their best wishes.

"I'm happy for him," Clooney's Gravity director, Alfonso Cuarón, told PEOPLE at Tuesday's Time 100 Gala in New York. "To me George is a terrific and a fantastic person. As a husband I think he will be the same. He's a guy who is so generous and respectful, and I think he will be good at marriage, too. George is also genuinely honest. And, it's so much fun to be around him."

Clooney's close friend Charlie Rose, co-anchor of CBS This Morning, says the Oscar winner shares the same interests with Alamuddin, 36. Rose also has gotten to know Alamuddin, who attended a conference that he hosted in Aspen last year.

"George has a very serious side to him," the veteran journalist, 72, who has spent time with Clooney, 52, at his home in Lake Como, told PEOPLE. "He's a prankster and a damn good actor, but he also cares about issues as she does."

MSNBC host Ronan Farrow is a friend of Alamuddin and seeks her legal expertise in privacy law. The two met while working at the United Nations.

"Amal is incredibly accomplished and has a substantive legal mind. I have a lot of admiration for what she does," Farrow, 26, told PEOPLE. "She's tremendously charming and beguiling. Just look at her career. When I'm ready to do an interview on privacy law or when I'm interviewing someone connected to Julian Assange or Glenn Greenwald, she's one of the people that I turn to. She's wonderful."

For Martha Stewart, who is a fan of Clooney's films, she was happy to hear that the Hollywood heartthrob finally decided to settle down.

"I thought it was about time!" Stewart, 72, told PEOPLE. "They make a great couple."

Stewart has got a recipe recommendation for the bride-to-be, too – if she ever finds time to cook.

"George is a healthy eater. She should make one of our one-pot meals," Stewart said. "It's a new book that is coming out and everything is made in one pot like pasta and chicken ... They have busy schedules, and making a one-pot meal, they can prepare healthy meals in a quick and easy way. I think that's a meal he will enjoy."

For much more on George and Amal's engagement news, including an exclusive photo of the ring and a closer look at the woman who won the heart of the ultimate Hollywood bachelor, pick up this week's issue of PEOPLE

Why Elizabeth Olsen Is Hollywood's New Sweetheart

0
0

She's the younger sister of film and fashion's most notable twins (and our June cover girl) but it's time for Mary-Kate and Ashley to step aside because Elizabeth Olsen is set to become Hollywood's new sweetheart. Here's everything you need to know about the charming star…

An indie girl at heart
Lizzie (as she prefers to be called) first flexed her talents when she captured 2011's Sundance Film Festival with a haunting portrayal of vulnerable Martha Marcy May Marlene who escaped a disturbing cult and doomed future in the eponymous indie film. Further showcasing her acting credentials, the 25-year-old went on to star in subsequent indies Silent House, Kill Your Darlings and Spike Lee's rework of the Japanese film Oldboy, proving exactly why she's hot on Hollywood's radar right now.

From cult hits to blockbuster glitz
Landing a major role in new-release Godzilla alongside hunky Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Breaking Bad lead Bryan Cranston, Lizzie made her move into the mainstream. Continuing her commercial journey, she also bagged the part of Wanda the Scarlet Witch in Marvel's sequel to The Avengers hitting cinemas in 2015.

Lizzie's laid bare
Not only is the stunning starlet brimming with brains and beauty, she's not afraid to push boundaries and acting taboos, all which make her a force to be reckoned with. Stripping off for numerous art house and film projects, Lizzie has appeared totally nude in everything from Martha Marcy May Marlene to her forthcoming release In Secret. Talk about a bold, sassy move.

Her heart-throb is a female screen siren
Could she be any cooler? Lizzie told Marie Claire: 'I never had a heart-throb or a band I loved, but I had Michelle Pfeiffer, so I tried to copy what my friends would do and had magazine pictures cut out in frames.' Besides gazing at her idol's beauty, she used Michelle as inspiration. 'She was the reason I wanted to be an actor.'

She's a down-to-earth dreamer
Living alongside her sisters in US fashion capital New York, a super-stylish Lizzie revealed she still rides the subway and enjoys being totally unrecognisable. 'I hope that never changes,' she confessed. 'I'm never bothered anywhere. Only occasionally someone will say, "Have we met before? You look so familiar."'

Her fiancé's a total hunk (naturally)
She got engaged to American actor, and soon-to-be star of Gone Girl, Boyd Holbrook in March 2014 after almost two years together. His blue eyes, dirty blonde hair and to-die-for body make the perfect companion for lovely Lizzie. With sister Mary-Kate also set to wed, could there be a joint Olsen wedding on the horizon?

Elizabeth Olsen talks family, feminism and breaking out of typecasts in this month's issue of Marie Claire. For the full interview and a look at all her gorgeous shoot pictures for Marie Claire, photographed by David Roemer, pick up a copy of the magazine, on newsstands now.

Global Icon Avril Lavigne enters the Hot 100 with 'Hello Kitty'

0
0

Controversy translates to chart action for Avril Lavigne, whose"Hello Kitty" debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 75 following the track’s Vevo video debut on April 23. It’s her second-highest charted song from her recent self-titled album; "Here's to Never Growing Up," also co-produced by Lavigne's husband, Chad Kroeger, peaked at No. 20 in June.

"Kitty," which is not an official U.S. single, claws its way onto the Hot 100 with 92 percent of its chart points from streaming. Factoring into its rank: a weekly U.S. count of 2.9 million streams (up from 41,000 the prior frame), with 73 percent of that activity attributed to Vevo on YouTube views, according to Nielsen BDS. That action allows Lavigne to receive her highest debut on Streaming Songs to date, as the track bows at a lofty No. 14 (besting "Growing Up," which opened at No. 26 in May following its official video debut).

The song also surges to 5,000 downloads sold in the tracking week ending Sunday, April 27, up from a negligible amount the week before, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The online firestorm ignited by the video’s content sends Lavigne to her highest position on the Social 50 since January, where she moves 37-15. The "Kitty" music video, which was shot in Japan, was berated on various blogs and news sites for its appropriation of Japanese culture, enough so to lead Lavigne to respond to the criticism on Twitter and Facebook.

The above tweets helped spark a 131 percent increase in retweets for the week, and Lavigne’s twitter handle was mentioned more than 101,000 times during the week, a 144 percent increase over the previous week, according to data provided by Next Big Sound. Her overall online fanbase increased for the week by 32 percent, as she added 387,000 new fans across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vevo and YouTube.

Al Feldstein, Longtime EC Comics Artist and MAD Magazine Editor, Dead at 88

0
0

MAD Magazine veteran Al Feldstein has passed away at his home in Montana, The Associated Press reports. He was 88.

Feldstein started his career as an artist for EC Comics prior to the Comics Code crunch of the 1950s. Shortly after he began work there, he found himself editing most of the publisher’s titles, and is credited with co-creating, among others, Tales From the Crypt.

The massive popularity of horror and crime comics in the ’50s made them a target of the fledgling Comics Code Authority and EC Comics in particular was forced to shutter most of its titles starting in 1954. MAD continued to be popular, and after a short hiatus from EC, Feldstein returned in 1956 to succeed MAD Editor Harvey Kurtzman.

“Basically everyone who was young between 1955 and 1975 read MAD, and that’s where your sense of humor came from,” The Simpsons producer Bill Oakley once said.

“Mad’s parodies made me aware of the machine inside the skin — of the way a movie might look original on the outside, while inside it was just recycling the same old dumb formulas. I did not read the magazine, I plundered it for clues to the universe,” famed film critic Roger Ebert said.

Naya Rivera Dropped From Columbia Records

0
0

While conflicting reports surface about her "Glee" future, Rivera's relationship with her record label has ended.

Naya Rivera is no longer on the Columbia Records roster, multiple sources have confirmed to Billboard.com. The "Glee" star signed with the label in 2011, and did not release a full-length with Columbia.

The 27-year-old, who plays Santana Lopez on the hit Fox series, was one of the first "Glee" actors to land a solo record deal, and announced plans to begin work on an album in summer 2011. Last September, "Sorry," Rivera's debut single featuring then-boyfriend Big Sean, was released; the song did not chart on the Hot 100 and has sold 34,000 downloads to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

After getting engaged in last October, Rivera and Big Sean abruptly called off the wedding last month. "Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately," read a statement from Big Sean's camp about the broken engagement.

Meanwhile, rumors persist that Rivera has been fired from "Glee," which is winding down its fifth season. Although a rep for the singer/actress called reports of her firing "absolutely untrue" to The Hollywood Reporter, other reports have claimed that a feud with co-star Lea Michele has led to Rivera's permanent dismissal.

Since "Glee" began airing in mid-2009, its cast of rising young talent has struggled to get their respective solo projects off the ground. Lea Michele's debut album "Louder" was at long last released in March, and has sold 87,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Other "Glee" cast members, including Darren Criss and Amber Riley, are still prepping their proper debuts.

James Franco on His Instagram Scandal: "I'm Not Going to High Schools Looking for Dates"

0
0

Don't confuse James Franco with the man he plays in Palo Alto.

Unlike his character in that movie—a high school soccer coach who gets caught up in a flirtation with a student—the 36-year-old Of Mice and Men actor is not looking to date a teenager, despite his attempt to pick up 17-year-old Lucy Clode via Instagram last month.

Speaking about the scandal in an interview on Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show on Wednesday, April 30, Franco tried to clear the air about what really happened.

"The way that the news wants to kind of do it, because these are the flashy headlines, I am pursuing...young women," he told Stern of his encounter with Clode, who met him outside his Broadway show in New York City. "I'm not going to high schools looking for dates. I'm leaving my work and they're coming there!"

He continued: "So I'm just seeing attractive women. And look, my fan base is like 17-year-old girls. If I do a book signing, it'll be 17-year-old to 30-year-old women. That's my biggest fan base. So I saw her, and she's saying on her page, 'I love James Franco, blah blah blah.'"

"I was a gentleman. I said, 'Do you have a boyfriend?'" he recalled. "And her response was, 'Not when you're around.' So that, to me, sounds like, okay, she's interested."

Clode shared screen-grabs of her conversation with the Spring Breakers star via Instagram, which then got picked up by various news outlets. But Franco doesn't blame her for the ensuing media frenzy, and even defended her actions to Stern.

"I don't think she posted it knowing what was going to happen. I think she was somebody that had, you know, 100, maybe at the most 500, friends on Twitter, or followers or whatever," he said. "And she's thinking not, 'Here's a guy hitting on me,' [but] 'Here is James Franco, this image I have of James Franco, hitting on me. Oh, my god, my friends will never believe this.'"

"So she's just used to tweeting something to her friends and she'll get, you know, 20 likes...[but] when she put that on, obviously people pick up on it," he continued. "She even took it down. But again, it was too late. And my sense is it turned bad on her."

Franco doesn't appreciate being blamed for that last part, though. "Now people want to say I victim-bashed her," he told Stern. "How is she a victim? I was like anybody, just trying to meet somebody. It's just that my dirty s--t gets put out internationally."

Seth MacFarlane and Charlize Theron on ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’ + original film SONG!

0
0

Q. Were you surprised, Charlize, at how easily you fit into the world of this film that Seth directed, co-wrote and co-starred in?

SETH MACFARLANE: I think that’s more due to Charlize’s versatility. For me, as a relatively inexperienced actor, I could not have had a better partner, who found the Goldilocks zone for both of us.

CHARLIZE THERON: Don’t you ever call me Goldilocks again.

Seth, which of Charlize’s films suggested she was a great comic actress? “Monster”? “The Cider House Rules”?

THERON: He was looking at “Reindeer Games,” O.K.?

MACFARLANE: All of my research came from “The Astronaut’s Wife.” It was the same process I used for “Ted”: It was important that this be somebody who was able to bring a sincerity to the character, and the jokes carry themselves if you have that.

This is a period comedy set in the Wild West, and Charlize, you’re a female gunslinger?

THERON: She married into that world at a young age and got stuck in a life that really wasn’t her own. Through circumstances, she finds herself outside of that life for a split second and gets to really see the potential of something different and better, and tries to go after that.

And Seth, your character is a coward who needs Charlize’s help?

MACFARLANE: That wasn’t much of a stretch for me. I won’t even get on the freeway without my navigator. There was a parallel between my personal experience on the movie, for my virgin effort at being on camera, and the story itself. As we went along, Charlize was the one person I could quietly turn to, and say, “Hey, did that seem good to you, or was it too James Brolin?” I don’t know why I just said that. He’s never done anything to me. Sorry, James Brolin, I think you’re great.

What did you learn about each other from this film?

MACFARLANE: Third nipple?

THERON: I’d gone through like a two-year period where I wasn’t really enjoying making movies anymore. And this movie really just shook me and made me realize how much I love it. I owe a lot of that to Seth.

Even after he included you in his opening number at the Oscars?

THERON: Don’t talk [trash] about him, O.K.? [laughter] I’ve given you an answer. Take that and don’t talk [trash].

-----
Seth MacFarlane's galloping theme song for 'A Million Ways to Die in the West': Hear the Alan Jackson tune

Western ballads are no stranger to death and bloodshed. Heck, Marty Robbins probably has more people getting shot in his songs than N.W.A. But Seth MacFarlane’s newly released theme song from his mordantly morbid comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West is probably the first ballad dedicated specifically to the act of getting shuffled off the dusty trail of life.

MacFarlane recorded the ditty with country-music star Alan Jackson, and it’s a quick-pickin’ old-timey tune, filled with Elmer Bernstein swells, fiddle sawing, and baritone lines like “six bullets in the gut/or just a paper cut” and “they’ll blast you into shards/for playing good at cards.” Listen to “A Million Ways to Die” below and let us know what you think. After all, you can never go wrong combining westerns and music.
