Zack Snyder: ‘Everyone Clings to the Christopher Reeve Version of Superman’

Zack Snyder took a lot of flack for depicting mass deaths and the destruction of Metropolis in last summer’s “Man of Steel.”

As he gears up to shoot the pic’s sequel, the still-untitled “Batman-Superman” movie, the director told Forbes that he’s merely depicting the “real world we live in.” Snyder said that fans are clinging to the more squeaky-clean Superman as depicted by Christopher Reeve in the iconic movies, instead of the comic book version of Superman, who wreaked massive damage.

“The thing I was surprised about in response to Superman was how everyone clings to the Christopher Reeve version of Superman,” he told Forbes. “How tightly they cling to those ideas, not really the comic book version, but more the movie version. … If you really analyze the comic book version of Superman, he’s killed, he’s done all the things. I guess the rules that people associate with Superman in the movie world are not the rules that really apply to him in the comic book world because those rules are different. He’s done all the things and more that we’ve shown him doing, right?”

Like in “Watchmen,” which he directed in 2009, Snyder said he wanted to depict the true nature of violence rather than the sanitized, unrealistic version.

“It’s just funny to see people really taking it personally … because I made (Superman) real, you know, I made him feel or made consequences (in) the world,” he said. “I felt like, it was the same thing in ‘Watchmen.’ We really wanted to show it wasn’t just like they thought, like the PG-13 version where everyone just gets up and they’re fine. I really wanted to show the violence is real, people get killed or get hurt and it’s not fun or funny.”

“Batman-Superman” will face off against “Captain America 3” in theaters on May 6, 2016. The movie stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Holly Hunter.

Meet the Man Harry Styles is Named After

A retired ambulance worker claims One Direction star Harry Styles was named after him!

Grandad Harry Styles, 72, told how he treated the pop heartthrob's heavily pregnant mum when she had a funny turn at a pop concert. The St John volunteer was on duty 20 years ago when he went to the aid of the expectant mum whose surname was Styles. She spotted the name tag on his uniform and told him: "You're quite nice, if it's a boy I'm going to call him Harry".

The chance meeting happened in Birmingham - just 20 miles from the hospital where the pop star was born.
Retired Harry said: "It's a great feeling to know I may have had a part in his fame. "Harry is a great name - I'm sure he wouldn't have gone on to have the success he has had if he was called something different."

Dad-of-two Harry says he met the pop star's mum while working at the NEC shortly before she gave birth. Story Of My Life singer Harry was born at Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, in February 1994. His mum, Anne, and dad, Des, were living in the small market town of Evesham, just outside Birmingham, at the time. His family later moved to Cheshire before his parents divorced when he was just seven. Harry, 20, grew up listening to the Beatles and Elvis before getting his lucky break on TV talent show The X Factor.

The singer's 72-year-old namesake isn't a One Direction fan but shares his love of 60s stars. The retired railway safety manager, from Newport, says he is teased by his family over his name. His daughter Helen, 42, has even bought him a hoodie with "Keep Calm Love Harry Styles" written on it. Harry, who spent 27 years with St John Ambulance, said: "My daughter put up a picture of me on Facebook saying we had the same name - but sadly I had no replies from any young ladies.

"But I have to admit I don't think I'd know the other Harry Styles if he walked past me in the street."

20 Min of Maleficent Shown in Disneyland Recapped and Reviewed

$

This weekend WonderCon took place in Anaheim California. Despite the fact that the Anaheim Convention Center is a few steps away from Disneyland, Disney decided not to have a presentation at the convention. Instead they launched a 20 minute preview of Maleficent in their theme park across the street. The preview is being shown in the Bugs Life Theater in Disney California Adventure theme park until June so all park visitor will have a chance to experience the magic complete with 4D effects. Germain Lussier and I are both card carrying members of the Disneyland annual passholder club, so after walking the show floor at WonderCon on Friday, we visited the park to take in the sneak preview. After the jump you can watch a video blog where we give our reaction to the Maleficent Preview footage, along with a brief written description of the footage screened.

The first was a clip from the party for the birth of baby Aurora. Maleficent enters and curses the baby to fall into a deep sleep after her 16th birthday. The interesting thing in
the subtext though, are the glances exchanged between she and the King, played by Sharlto Copely. It’s almost like these two used to be together. She makes him beg to save the child, which is when the provision is put in about true love’s kiss.

The second scene is Aurora walking in the woods. Maleficent casts a whimsical spell and gently floats her to a more secluded, darker section of the woods. The princess then wakes up to discover a lively, dark, but beautiful area that looks much like Pandora in Avatar. She
and Maleficent exchange words about “being scared” like you’ve seen in the trailers, then the scene cuts.

Finally, the footage presentation ended with a basically trailer montage of huge epic battles, Maleficent flying around with wings and a big dragon.

The best part of seeing this footage at Disney’s California Adventure is the 4D experience. Things like specially timed lighting tricks, smoke, fire effects and more are usually reserved for familiar, old films or theme park rides. For all intensive purposes, this is a theme park ride. But it’s also a preview of an upcoming release. So it’s cool and rare to enjoy 4D effects on a movie that hasn’t been release yet.

SOURCE
I don't know if anyone else goes on the cesspool that is the IMDB message boards but a couple days ago there was a guy claiming to be apart of the legal team for Disney and had authorization to leak major spoilers of Maleficent to dispel any bad rumors, I don't want to believe him but at the same time it looks too elaborate to be a troll move, so I don't know. If what he said was true though, I may actually still have hope for this movie.

Is Madonna's 13th Album Already Finished? Someone Claims To Have Heard It!

Madonna's discography is getting larger rather quickly. The waiting time from "Confessions on a Dance Floor" to "Hard Candy" was of three years, and the latter to "MDNA" was four years, and today it all points out the Queen of Pop will be releasing a new album this year! And that would mean that...(taking off the 'MDNA' touring period), that Madonna only had one full year to record this?

Today, Monday, April 21st, we find out the 13th studio album of her career may be already DONE. Her close friends and long time collaborators, fashion photographers Mert and Marcus (who work together as duo), uploaded, in the early hours of Monday, a photo they had just taken of Madonna in their hotel room on Instagram. The caption reads:

'In my room listening to the NEW ALBUM!!!!! Im DYING!!!!!! LET ME LOVE YOU FROM INSIDE OUT ???????? @madonna'

Madonna List Of New Album Collaborators Grows To Include MoZella, S1 And Toby Gad

Madonna isn’t taking any chances with her new LP. The pop icon has been cooking up tunes with EDM hitmaker du jour Avicii as well as collaborating with fellow diva/gun songwriter Natalia Kills. Now you can add MoZella , Symbolyc One (often referred to as S1) and Toby Gad to that extremely promising list.

So who are Madonna’s latest collaborators? Toby Gad should be familiar to most of you as the man who penned Beyonce‘s “If I Were A Boy” and Fergie‘s “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. S1 has also worked with Queen Bey (he produced “Best Thing I Never Had”), while MoZella was actually signed to Maverick Records — the Material Girl’s old label — in the early ’00s and released a couple of great albums and EPs.

Now she’s perhaps best known for writing Miley Cyrus‘ brilliant “Wrecking Ball”. With this trio on board, it’s a pretty safe bet that they are working on a ballad. Which is great news because you need an occasional break from the floorfillers and some of Madonna’s best songs are slow jams (“Live To Tell”, “Take A Bow” and “Rain”).

Do you think she's planning a summer release, or a Beyoncé-like iTunes release?

The producers have me thinking she's going to be trying something more ballad based/Adele inspired.

Lindsay Lohan's Sobriety Questioned in 'Kode' Magazine Feature

Lindsay Lohan shows off some cleavage on the cover of Kode Magazine‘s spring 2014 issue, available online now in limited edition.

Inside the issue, the mag claims that the 27-year-old actress is no longer sober and that she was drinking vodka during the interview.

Here is an excerpt: “When speaking of Oprah, Lohan has nothing but glowing qualms of the talk show queen ‘She’s taught me so much and really believes in me, nothing like Barbara Walters,’ she confesses as she takes a sip from her freshly topped off glass of Vodka on the rocks. From this moment, all questions of sobriety seem irrelevant.”

Later, the writer of the article says, “The last time I saw Lindsay would be as she made her way into the second day of the Coachella festival with a vodka filled Evian bottle.” (see pics)

Lindsay also revealed some details about a man she is dating when asked if she plans on checking her 10 to 11 bags at the airport. “Oh this guy I’m seeing sent me a jet because he wants to see me…” she said. “But he’s married with kids.”

David Moyes sacked as Man Utd manager

$
0
0

David Moyes was sacked as Manchester United manager on Tuesday after the club’s owners, the Glazer family, decided to end the Scot’s disastrous tenure at Old Trafford.

Ryan Giggs, with Nicky Butt as his assistant, will take charge until the end of the season. Giggs has served as player-coach under Moyes while Butt has worked with the reserves.

The Glazers handed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward the mandate to dismiss Moyes less than 12 months into his £4million-a-year, six-year contract after United’s defeat at Everton on Sunday confirmed their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
A statement on the club website read: "Manchester United has announced that David Moyes has left the Club."

"The Club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."
Moyes is likely to receive compensation of one year’s salary rather than the remaining five years of his deal, with key performance targets having been missed in United’s worst campaign for almost a quarter of a century. He will be forced to endure the humiliation of reporting for training before the formalities of his departure are completed.

The backroom staff he appointed in place of Sir Alex Ferguson’s coaches Mike Phelan and Rene Meulensteen are also likely to be moved on, with Steve Round, Jimmy Lumsden and Phil Neville having struggled to earn the players’ respect. The future of Chris Woods, who has overseen a marked improvement in the form of David de Gea as goalkeeping coach, is uncertain.

United have yet to actively pursue a replacement for Moyes, with the Glazers remaining supportive of the former Everton manager until the weekend. Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp has admirers at Old Trafford after building a young, vibrant and successful team in Germany, and the 46-year-old is expected to be favoured ahead of candidates such as Louis van Gaal and Diego Simeone. Giggs’s lack of experience is likely to count against him securing the job in the long term.

Carlo Ancelotti, currently in charge of Real Madrid, could be in the frame as he has failed to to settle at the Bernabéu following his move from Paris St-Germain last summer.

The Glazers regard the likelihood of a seventh-place finish as substantially below expectations, despite the acceptance that Ferguson’s departure would lead to turbulence this campaign. The owners thus do not wish to entrust Moyes with the £150million transfer funds available in the summer.

With United needing to close a six-point gap on sixth-placed Tottenham to salvage potential Europa League qualification, the club is facing the ignominious prospect of failing to qualify for European football for the first time since 1982.

Senior United figures have also noted that United are poised to become the worst defending champions in Premier League history, equalling the seventh-place finish of Ray Harford’s Blackburn Rovers in 1996.

Concern has grown among the United hierarchy over the direction the team has taken under Moyes and several senior players’ disaffection has been transmitted to influential power-brokers at the club.

With season-ticket renewals due at Old Trafford for next season, and growing anger among supporters, the prospect of Moyes being retained has led to fears of a potential drop in ticket income at a time when the club cannot rely on Champions League prize money.

Moyes has been given several opportunities to arrest the team’s slump this season, with his position most under threat after the 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool last month, but there is now a realisation that the manager has been a central factor in the downturn .

Ferguson’s support of Moyes, after recommending him for the job, is also understood to have been eroded by the poor performances and results, as well as by the breakdown of the manager’s relationship with the increasingly marginalised Giggs .

Moyes’s repeated complaints last summer about the difficulty of United’s start to the season, during which they faced Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in the first month hinted at his discomfort in the role.

While he persuaded Wayne Rooney to commit his future to the club after the forward attempted to leave last summer, persistent rumours of discontent in the dressing-room failed to subside, with Robin van Persie, Giggs, Nemanja Vidic and Danny Welbeck all disenchanted with the new regime.

Moyes alarmed his bosses with his indecision during the summer transfer window, which resulted in a disastrous £27.5million purchase of Marouane Fellaini from Everton minutes before the deadline. Having failed to add sufficient reinforcements, Moyes then oversaw a poor start to the season from which the team have not recovered.

The Glazers sanctioned the £37.5million club-record signing of Juan Mata in January but United have lost 10 of their 22 games this year. Sunday’s defeat at Goodison Park was their 11th league reverse this season – a club record in the Premier League – and United are on course to record their lowest finish since 1990, when Ferguson’s team finished 13th.

'Kode' Interview was conducted over email... so how was Lohan drinking during it?

Has Lindsay Lohan been exposed—or entirely misrepresented?

A rep for the star, whose OWN docuseries concluded last night with the bombshell revelation that she recently suffered a miscarriage, tells E! News that a Lohan cover story published by Kode magazine really went off the rails in the truth department when the writer made a note about the star taking a sip from a vodka on the rocks during their interview.

"Lindsay never spoke to any journalist at Kode. The interview was completed via email," Lohan's rep exclusively told E! News Monday. "We have no comprehension on why a journalist would fabricate this content and distribute it in such an irresponsible way."

But the crew at Kode begs to differ.

Allan Troy Watson, the magazine's editor in chief, also tells E! News that the interview took place as it was presented and there were witnesses, "I have sworn testimonies that it took place that back up everything," he says.

Executive editor Jacob Simon adds, "Yes, the interview took place and everything stated in the article is fact and came directly from Lohan herself. And we have photos chronicling the writer and Lindsay's numerous times together."

Lohan's rep, meanwhile, insists that the actress submitted a filled-out Q&A via email and did not actually speak to anyone for the interview.

INTERVIEW: LAURA PREPON SHOOTS DOWN TOM CRUISE RUMORS

$

Laura Prepon is a busy actress who will soon be seen on the second season of the hit Netflix series, Orange Is the New Black, which premieres on June 6.

But, sadly, it seems that the only thing people want to talk about these days is whether or not the actress is dating a certain movie star known as Tom Cruise. SheKnows spoke exclusively to Prepon and gave her the opportunity to clear the air about the rumors currently running rampant around Hollywood.

The rumor about Prepon and Cruise seems to mostly be based on the fact that the two are both Scientologists. Prepon is used to fielding questions about her religion.

"The thing that sucks is that there's so much false data because people are in mystery as to what Scientology is, so they just kind of make up stuff," Prepon said. "It's kind of unfortunate because then I have to be like, 'No, that's actually not what's happening.'"

Another common misconception is that Scientologists are automatically anti-gay, a rumor that Prepon also wanted to put to rest.

"You know, in terms of portraying a lesbian on the show, I am a huge supporter of the LGBT community. I'm going to the GLAAD Awards in a few weeks. I went to the human rights campaign. I flew up to San Francisco and did this whole thing and I won this award [for] being a straight woman portraying a gay woman on camera. I'm a total supporter of the LGBT and they are an amazing fan base."

Prepon doesn't understand the need for people to create information about her life, especially when it conflicts with her own beliefs.

"It's just so funny that, when people don't know, they just make stuff up, [like], apparently I'm dating Tom Cruise right now. And apparently he doesn't want me doing the show because I portray a lesbian and I'm a Scientologist. This is false; where are they even getting this stuff? It's unbelievable to me."

According to Prepon, there can be a bright side to all the false information: Such as when you get to show people a different side of the story.

"People who first meet me don't know about Scientology at all — and I'm always willing to talk to whoever about it — but it's funny because, on numerous occasions, they were like, 'I had no idea what Scientology was, but working with you and seeing how you conduct yourself and how you acknowledge people and you're such a professional.'"

"They're like, 'Whatever you're doing with Scientology, it's amazing.' And, 'If Scientology helps you be like that, then we're all about it,'" Prepon added.
"So I honestly try to be, you know... setting an example is the wrong way to say it, but being a good person."

Finally, Aaron Sorkin Apologizes For The Newsroom

$

The Newsroom’s third and final season is debuting this fall on HBO, but creator Aaron Sorkin told the crowd at a Tribeca Film Festival discussion on Monday that he’s just starting to learn how to write the often critically maligned series. And that he’s sorry.

“I’m going to let you all stand in for everyone in the world, if you don’t mind. I think you and I got off on the wrong foot with The Newsroom and I apologize and I’d like to start over,” Sorkin told the audience after interviewer (and former President Obama speech writer) Jon Favreau asked about what he’s learned about the media doing the series. “I think that there’s been a terrible misunderstanding. I did not set the show in the recent past in order to show the pros how it should have been done. That was and remains the furthest thing from my mind. I set the show in the recent past because I didn’t want to make up fake news. It was going to be weird if the world that these people were living in did not in any way resemble the world that you were living in… Also, I wanted the option of having a terrific dynamic that you can get when the audience knows more than the characters do… So, I wasn’t trying to and I’m not capable of teaching a professional journalist a lesson. That wasn’t my intent and it’s never my intent to teach you a lesson or try to persuade you or anything.”

He went on to explain, “I like writing romantically and idealistically. I try to balance that with just enough realism so that it feels like whatever romantic ideal is in there is somewhat attainable. It’s not a cartoon. It’s not animated… These are people who are trying to do the news well when market forces work against them.”

As the Tribeca event was happening on the same day as the 2014 Boston Marathon, Sorkin told the audience that an episode of The Newsroom was filming in California about the bombing at last year’s marathon. The creator also said it was the first time he was ever not on the set of something he’s written. “I haven’t become an expert in anything. I’m not sophisticated when it comes to politics, when it comes to journalism. I’m not as smart as the characters are or, as you can see, as articulate,” he said, stumbling over his words. “I want to make it clear: I don’t know nothin’,” he eventually added.

Favreau later asked Sorkin — who also created and wrote Sports Night, The West Wing, and Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip — if his writing style changed over the years. “I’m able to catch bad writing before it gets on the page better than I used to,” he responded. “The problem is with television, the schedule’s so ferocious. It’s so fast… We have airdates. We’re working backwards. There are airdates that have to be hit and you have to write when you’re not writing well and then you have to point a camera at it. So, with everything, we shoot my first drafts and you just have to live with, There’s bad writing out there. We had to do it. This is what you signed up for. It’s kind of like M*A*S*H unit… We just want to stop the bleeding. Some weeks, that’s what it’s like on series television. Make it as good as you possibly can in the time that you have to do it, but there isn’t a single episode of television I’ve written that I don’t wish I could get back and do again.”

When Favreau noted no one is a harsher critic to a writer than him- or herself, Sorkin replied, “Actually, I’ve got some evidence that I’ve got some harsher critics than me.”

Shortly thereafter, an audience member asked if he’s happy with The Newsroom. “I feel like I’m just now starting to learn how to write it,” he replied. “I’ve very proud of The Newsroom. I have the time of my life working with the people that I work with, but there is a learning curve and unfortunately, those lessons are learned in front of several million people. Again, that’s what you sign up for. I wish that I could go back to the beginning of The Newsroom and start again and replicate what you have with a play, which is a preview period… But I’m feeling really good about how the third season is going. I’ll look back on it fondly and proudly and wish I could get every scene of every episode back so that I could do it all over again.”

Conception 2: Children of the Seven Stars isn't a race for the skilled, but a marathon for the determined. I spent more than 45 hours exploring the game's repetitive dungeons, wooing its generic characters and desperately trying to care about what I was doing. As if the game's drab gameplay wasn't enough to turn me away, Conception 2's underage eroticism is alienating and just plain icky. Animated scenes feel like an ode to upskirts, and the game has enough boob jiggling to give me whiplash. It's a trashy, thoroughly underwhelming experience I cannot wait to forget.

Ray's new clientele will include a self-help guru, portrayed by Eion Bailey, in season 2 of Ray Donovan.

Bailey is the second new client of Ray's that has been revealed for season 2. The other prestigious client Ray is going to covet is Omar J. Dorsey, will be playing the part of Cookie Brown, a powerful music business entrepreneur, who was very recently serving time in prison.

While Ray's get himself some good business there will be a whole bunch of new cast members who will be creating trouble for him in season 2.

General Hospital's Andrea Bogart is set to star as Megan, the wife of FBI agent Thomas Volchek (Kip Pardue)

Pardue, who plays the part of Volchek also comes on board with season 2 of the Showtime series. Volchek is an FBI agent working under the chief of the Los Angeles division, James Cochran. Hank Azaria will portray Cochran. Both Purdue and Azaria will have recurring roles throughout the season. It was previously reported that Azaria's character will cause problems for Ray (Liev Schrieber) on the show, and it seems like the addition of Pardue will spell double trouble for the fixer.

Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks) will be guest-starring as Azaria's wife on the series.

Then there are some guest stars who won't be complicating affairs for Ray.

The Wire's Wendell Pierce will also be coming on board as Mr. Keith, a parole officer on the show. Though Pierce's character's circumstances will be pretty abysmal, and instead of posing a threat to Ray, he will be actually taking some help from him.

Vinessa Shaw is also joining the cast as a Pulitzer award-winning Boston Globe journalist who is working on a book about Sully (James Woods) and the circumstances surrounding his death. Shaw's character might create trouble for Ray as she digs deeper while investigating.

The second season will premiere on July 13.

Ray Donovan airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. on Showtime.

Zelena threatens to kill Henry if Hook - whose lips have been cursed by the Wicked Witch -- doesn't proceed with kissing Emma, which will drain all of her magical powers away, and things begin to heat up between Regina and Robin Hood.
