Dan Humphrey wasn't supposed to be Gossip Girl

At this year's Vulture Festival, Gossip Girl executive producer Joshua Safran confirmed that Dan Humphrey was not his original choice for Gossip Girl.

His first choice: Eric Van Der Woodsen. "We worked hard to kind of lay in tiny seeds about it being Eric, and then the NY Post wrote an article saying that Gossip Girl was Eric so we were like, 'We gotta scratch that.'"

The second choice was Nate Archibal. "One of the writers realized that Nate had never sent a tip in to Gossip Girl, which is true at least through the end of Season 5. Nate never sent in a tip in through all of those episodes, which is when we're like, 'Oh, well then he's Gossip Girl.'"

As to how it ended up being Dan Humphrey: "I like to joke that Dan was Gossip Girl because I had left the show by then. Dan was not my intended Gossip Girl, so honestly you'd have to ask someone else."

Impeachment Fun Facts

. Impeachment is a political recourse, not a legal recourse

. The House votes to Impeach. A simple majority 51% is all it takes to send the article(s) of impeachment to the Senate for a trial. Democrats have enough votes without bipartisan support.

. The Senate holds the trial to Remove. A 2/3rd super majority is required to Remove a President from office. It would take ~20 Republicans to break ranks. Public opinion as hearings progress will influence how the House and Senate votes.

. The House can vote to Impeach on some or all articles but the Senate still acquit. It can’t be reversed, and still goes on permanent record until the earth no longer exists. Votes for or against will be used in campaigns for 2020 election.

. Nixon was never Impeached. He resigned before the articles of Impeachment were put to House floor vote. VP Ford became President, and the next election saw a significant shift of Dems winning seats plus Carter won the next election.

. Clinton was Impeached by the House but acquitted by the Senate. His approval rating went up. Despite Gore winning the popular vote, Bush43 was appointed President by the Supreme Court after the contested battle of electoral votes in Florida, because ~Florida.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not join Queen Elizabeth for Christmas.

The couple are set to embark on a six-week break from royal duties next week for the Thanksgiving holiday

Now, it's revealed that the couple will extend their trip and stay through the Christmas holiday as well.

A source said that the couple “needed to recharge their batteries.”

This would indeed be a major break from tradition for Harry

Meghan and Harry also skipped the royals’ annual holiday in Balmoral this year.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, “I think it’s sad they don’t want to be part of the family gathering, particularly now that the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in their dotage. The queen might be a little hurt but she’s far too gracious to ever let it show or be known.”

She's not sure why and it skips around various time periods. She also has a pilot in development at the network, Other People's Houses, which is based on a book too and follows nine people living in Larchmont Village.

Director Paul Thomas Anderson Sets New Film for Production in 2020

  • Director Paul Thomas Anderson (Phantom Thread, Magnolia) has set a new project for production starting in early 2020.

  • The untitled project will be set in the 1970's, and will center around a high school student who is also a successful child actor.

  • The project features a multitude of roles - it may be an ensemble piece, or it may have intersecting storylines.

  • PTA will write, direct and produce the project, and casting is currently underway.

  • The project will be filming in California, as per the Film Commission.

Mark Wahlberg ("The Other Guys", Hate Crimes) will portray Victor “Sully” Sullivan, an American treasure hunter, fortune seeker and businessman, as well as a friend, mentor and father figure to Drake (Tom Holland, "Spies in Disguise").

He was apparently supposed to play Nathan Drake years ago when David O. Russell was directing. Now it's directed by Travis Knight ("Bumblebee"). Uncharted allegedly comes out in 2020.

A “Friends” Reunion Special in the Works at HBO Max

The Hollywood Reporter says that talks are underway for an “unscripted reunion special” that would feature the six core actors and the creators of the NBC comedy: Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

If negotiations go through, the reunion special would naturally debut on Warner Media’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. Once Netflix’s streaming rights expire, “Friends” will be exclusive to that service.
