Leah Remini's Scientology Show Will Finally Air Danny Masterson Episode

0
0

Journalist and prolific Scientology critic Tony Ortega broke the news today that Leah Remini's show 'Scientology and the Aftermath' will finally air an episode featuring actor Danny Masterson’s accusers on February 18th. The episode, which was filmed for the second season, will air more than a year after it was pulled by request of the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

For those unaware, That 70s Show actor Danny Masterson began to be investigated in March 2017 for multiple violent rapes. Scientology allegedly helped cover up and protect Masterson. He was eventually fired from that crappy Ashton Kutcher Netflixshow and dropped by his agent.

According to Ortega, A&E's decision to air the episode is an "extremely unusual and legally super ballsy" for a network to do. A member of DA Jackie Lacey's office admitted to one of the accusers that while the office is fully behind charges being filed, the investigation is being slowed by Scientology's involvement. A&E has decided that the DA has had more than enough time to come to a decision.

Reshooting for the show is happening in Los Angeles. For much more information on the case, visit today's Underground Bunker post.

James McAvoy came onto GMA and talked a little bit about filming IT: Chapter Two and confessed Bill Skarsgard's portrayal freaked him out.

“He is amazing,” McAvoy said. “The guy who plays the clown is terrifying! He’s a lovely guy, and yet he really freaked me out.”

McAvoy says he was not alone thinking that, being in the presence of the clussy king actor in costume. "I remember standing there with the rest of the cast, all these adults, we’ve all done weird, freaky stuff, and we are all looking at each other going, ‘I don’t like being in here. I don’t like being an actor today.'"

James added that he never liked clowns as a kid.

McAvoy is currently in the promo rounds for Glass but IT: Chapter Two is slated to open later this year along with a bunch of other anticipated horror titles.

Apple continues to struggle in sales and replaced more iPhone batteries than they expected to

    0
    0

Perhaps their most underwhelming iPhone launch yet, Apple’s iPhone sales continue to remain sluggish in comparison to recent years. Apple CEO Tim Cook blames this on trade tensions with China and a weak economy.

“In addition, these and other factors resulted in fewer iPhone upgrades than we had anticipated,” explained a delusional and out of touch Cook in a letter to investors. Maybe your pricing also attributed to your weak sales, just a thought.

The company’s battery replacement program to replace old iPhone batteries did not help either. The company offered existing owners the ability to swap out their old batteries that were unable to hold a charge for $29. Apple only expected to replace around 1-2 million batteries but actually replaced 11 million.

Cook claims, “some customers [were] taking advantage of significantly reduced pricing for iPhone battery replacements.” Several analysts suggest Apple needs to restrategize and cut iPhone prices to reignite sales.

Based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, THE PASSAGE is an epic, character-driven thriller written by Liz Heldens (“Friday Night Lights”). Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Ridley Scott (“The Martian,” “Gladiator”) and writer/director Matt Reeves (“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “Cloverfield”), THE PASSAGE focuses on Project Noah, a secret medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease, but also carries the potential to wipe out the human race.

When a young girl, AMY BELLAFONTE (Saniyya Sidney, “Fences,” “Hidden Figures”) is chosen to be a test subject, Federal Agent BRAD WOLGAST (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, “Pitch”) is the man who is tasked with bringing her to Project Noah. Ultimately, however, Wolgast becomes her surrogate father, as he tries to protect her at any cost. Brad and Amy’s journey will force them to confront Project Noah’s lead scientist, MAJOR NICHOLE SYKES (Caroline Chikezie, “The Shannara Chronicles”), and the hardened ex-CIA operative in charge of operations, CLARK RICHARDS (Vincent Piazza, “Boardwalk Empire,” “Rescue Me”), whom Brad trained. It likewise brings them face-to-face with a dangerous new race of beings confined within the walls of Project Noah, including former scientist TIM FANNING (Jamie McShane, “Bosch,” “Bloodline,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and death-row inmate SHAUNA BABCOCK (Brianne Howey, “The Exorcist”). In seeking out any allies he can find, Brad also turns to his former wife, DR. LILA KYLE (Emmanuelle Chriqui, “Entourage,” “Murder in the First”), for help. But as Project Noah’s scientists hone in on a cure that could save humanity, these new beings begin to test their own powers, inching one step closer to an escape that could lead to an unimaginable apocalypse.

Assassin's Creed DLC Sparks Outrage for Disregarding Player's Choices Regarding Sexuality

    0
    0

The latest Assassins Creed video game garnered kudos for not only allowing players to pick between playing as a man or a woman (significant considering some of the messes this particular franchise has run into concerning playable female protagonists) but for also giving the player the freedom to choose who they want to romance.

Some of the developers at Ubisoft for the game talked about it.

Melissa MacCoubrey, narrative director of the game: “We knew that if we were making a game about choice, that philosophy had to permeate throughout the entire experience and not just gameplay. Having same-sex partners is part of that ability to play your own odyssey, and it was something we knew we wanted.”

Jonathan Dumont, creative director of Ubisoft: “Ancient Greece was a setting that lended itself to same-sex romance, so to be honest it just felt natural [...] We tried to approach it that way. We have a pretty big bank of voices but honestly we did not look at it from the romantic angle but more the point of view of: Is that an interesting character?

"Since the story is choice-driven, we never force players in romantic situations they might not be comfortable with. Players decide if they want to engage with characters romantically. I think this allows everybody to build the relationships they want, which I feel respects everybody’s roleplay style and desires.”

But in the second episode of the DLC, all that choice gets taken out of your hands. No matter how you played the game, (aka only playing Alexios as a gay man, Kassandra as a lesbian, being a childfree loner, or just continually rejecting the recurring NPC [Neema if you play as Alexios, and Natakas if you play as Kassandra]), the ending of the game just disregards all of that and shows how you've settled down with that NPC and had a kid together.

And as an extra kick, the DLC ending trophy is titled "Growing Up".

When contacted, Ubisoft responded with the following statement: “We strive to give players choice whenever possible in Odyssey and apologize to those surprised by the events in this episode, Without spoiling it, you will engage in an important relationship as part of a set story. The motivation behind this relationship is yours to explore in game and will be reflected in your character’s story arc. There is one episode left in Legacy of the First Blade which will tie your character’s actions together.”

Sidenote that the DLC is handled by a different studio as noted by MacCoubrey in an interview with Eurogamer about the presence of the NPC and their parent, Darius.

Quavo of the rap trio Migos wants to show President Donald Trump how to properly treat the Clemson Tigers by inviting them to a proper championship dinner. Quavo writes, “I wanna show Clemson Tigers and POTUS how champs are supposed to be treated. Y’all welcome to come by the QC headquarters anytime. Dabbin DABO STILL #GODAWGS The Stir Fry Way!”

On Monday, Trump invited the team to The White House and served the team a large buffet that consisted of McDonald's, Wendy's, Domino's, and Burger King for dinner. Yes, you read that correctly. Trump blamed this on the government shut down but yeah, no. It’s not clear if the team will officially take Quavo up on that offer but some of the team seems interested.

    Tigers safety K'Von Wallace approved.

    Tigers defensive end Albert Huggins.

Chargers wide receiver Artavis Scott also gave his thoughts.

ONTD, would you have dinner at The White House or at Quavo’s?

    Black-ish Addresses Colorism

    0
    0

"Black Like Us" was written by Peter Saji, himself a bi-racial man with light skin.

It started with a simple annoyance about Diane being poorly lit in her school photo.
Diane's parents Andre and Bo open up a conversation about colorism within the African American community that turns explosive, personal and painful.

There's historical context, about how slaveowners tended to put lighter blacks inside the plantation houses while dark skinned people worked in the fields, setting up resentments that would last for generations.
There is a discussion about how Latino, Asian and Indian people see similar favoritism towards lighter skinned people over darker skinned people in their communities too.

The heated confrontations take place within the Johnson household itself.
Junior confronts Dre about his continued mockery of light-skinned people including Junior and his mom Bo.
Jr calls Dre out on the ways he perpetuates the notion that light-skinned black people are "less black" or more sensitive.
Ruby opens up about her own experiences with fair-skinned relatives who tormented her because of her complexion.
Diane points out that nobody is more impacted by the conversation than her, since she's the darkest in the family.

'The Favourite's potential Oscar-nominated actresses could make history - again

    0
    0

If When actresses Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz are announced as Oscar nominees on Tuesday morning for their work in 'The Favourite' (Olivia as lead; Emma and Rachel as supporting) they will mark the 19th time in the 91 year Oscars history that 3 or more women from the same movie have gotten nominations the same year.

I won't list the previous 18 times this happened, but the five most recent movies before this were:

-- 2011's "The Help" - Viola Davis (lead), Octavia Spencer (supporting and won), Jessica Chastain (supporting)
-- 2008's "Doubt" - Meryl Streep (lead), Viola Davis & Amy Adams (supporting)
-- 2002's "Chicago" - Renee Zellweger (lead); Catherine Zeta-Jones (supporting and won), Queen Latifah (supporting)
-- 1988's "Working Girl" - Melanie Griffith (lead), Sigourney Weaver & Joan Cusack (supporting)
-- 1985's "The Color Purple" - Whoopi Goldberg (lead), Oprah Winfrey & Margaret Avery (supporting)

Fun fact (maybe): only one movie had 4 actresses nominated, and that was 1950's "All About Eve," where all four women lost, sigh, and the only Oscars the movie won (including best picture) went almost entirely to men: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042192/awards
