Kanye West has another controversial opinion. During a Sunday service event, West took a moment to give his unwanted thoughts on the R. Kelly situation, as well as the upcoming documentary on Michael Jackson's sex abuse.

In one of the clips recorded from the event, West can be heard saying, "They just gonna pull up full documentaries on him. Then they gonna come with the Michael [Jackson] documentary. ... We can all enjoy all their music all we want. I thought I wasn't going to go there today. If we're gonna tear down artists, let's go ahead and take [Leonardo] da Vinci out the Lourve. Let's take down all the art."

Kim immediately went on Twitter today to do damage control for her husband, stating he's allowed to have an opinion:

R. Kelly Did Indeed Know Aaliyah's Age

$

A video has surfaced showing that R. Kelly knew Aaliyah’s age when he began producing the young singer. In the video, Kelly clearly indicates that Aaliyah is 14 years old. Back when promoting her debut album, there was always a debate about how old she actually was and if her relationship with Kelly was more than just professional. The clip is from the documentary Born into the 90s. It's about 1:08 into the clip when you hear her age confirmed.

In 1994, documents were forged by Kelly’s former tour manager, Demetrius Smith, so the two could wed in Illinois. Aaliyah was fifteen. In Illinois, it is forbidden to be married if you are under 16 years of age. If seventeen, the minor must apply with both parents or legal guardian(s) to make a marriage license valid. Kelly’s lawyer claims that his client has never been with an underage person and that his client had no clue how old Aaliyah was. The illegal marriage was annulled after two months with Kelly paying Aaliyah’s parents $100 to not press charges.

1. Laura Harrier, 28 (Spider-Man Homecoming / Blackkklansman): “It’s so easy to compare and want to change yourself. To look at other people and feel like, ‘If only I had more of this or more of that, or if I was prettier or skinnier.’ I spent a long time feeling like that. When I was like, ‘Oh, being comfortable with yourself and knowing who you are as a human being is enough,’ it just made me feel a lot better in life.”

2. Lana Condor, 21 (To All the Boys I've Loved Before / Deadly Class): "Where we are in Hollywood is exciting because people have a higher standard of the way they should be treated. Someone told me, ‘Don’t demand respect, command respect,’. I got so lucky that I started working right now. The Asian-American actors that worked before me had it a lot harder than I do. We’re in a time where people are a little bit more woke. We’re not a dumb generation."

3. Lachlan Watson, 17 (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina)

4. Stephen James, 25 (Homecoming / If Beale Street Could Talk): “The people [I admire most] are bigger than filmmakers, bigger than directors and have their fingerprints on every aspect of the film. Barry Jenkins, to me, is a master and a genius. Ava DuVernay is changing the landscape of how this whole game operates. Sam Esmail is a visionary. I really love Don Cheadle, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel [Washington], Idris [Elba]—I guess the bar is pretty high for me.”

5. Joel Kim Booster, 30: “I am just being unapologetically myself in a way that straight white guys have been doing onstage for years. I’m not making my sexuality or my race the centerpiece of my jokes. I’m just not apologizing for it either. This part of my career has really been about not being afraid.”

Photographer Cole Sprouse had this to say about the shoot. “The energy truly shifted depending on each actor. Some were loud and boisterous, some were quiet and awkward.”

ONTD ORIGINAL: Shows Disney Should Totally Put On Disney+ This Year

$
0
0
It’s 2019, and Disney+ is finally coming to take our money and give it to the Mouse Empire, unless you’re like some people and (allegedly) live a pirate’s life.
While shows such as The Mandalorian, a Monsters Inc. TV show, and various Marvel shows for the side players are in development, what about their older, iconic shows?
Here are some shows The Mouse House would have to have for me to cough up some green. Not counting currently airing shows like Ducktales, Big City Greens, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, or Milo Murphy's Law.

A show that was, for all intents and purposes, far too ahead of it’s time, Fillmore! was a cop-crime drama. Extortion, bum raps, kidnapping, threats, hostage holding, death of the author - Oh yeah, it was also animated and took place in an extremely extensive middle school following a league of safety patrollers. The main characters of Fillmore and Third are no-nonsense law abiding citizens, and quite possibly, the last good cops.
The parody style placed on thick line art and the serious tone on middle school problems gives a hilarious air of absurdity that works spectacularly well. & Orlando Brown could probably use some of those residuals.
Some Episodes: The Shreds Fell Like Snowflakes, A Cold Day at X
——-
If you’re asking yourself what the hell Right Now Kapow is, you’re not alone. It’s got that ugly The Problem Solverz style but without being as busy and irritating as that show.
It was actually pretty funny, but lasted only a season.

Some Episodes: Honestly, I don't remember. It was an animated sketch show in the vein of SNL for children.
———
Kim Possible, the high school freelance hero/vigilante. Popular, competent honor student fighting a variety of middle aged criminals with her sidekick/best friend Ron. And everyone knew she did this shit, too, that's what made this so refreshing! It didn’t necessarily get “deep”, but it was always an action-packed blast.
In “honor” of her live action DCOM hitting small screens next month after last being seen nearly 12 (!!!) years ago, Kim Possible and her 4 seasons deserve to be seen as intended (animated, cool, snappy), and since they’re not on Youtube in any decent audio quality, this would be the perfect location for The Girl Who Can Do Anything.
And it would introduce a new generation of kids to Christina Millian!
Some Episodes: Return to Camp Wannaweep, Stop Team Go
———

Leave it to the black cartoons to “keep it real” with topics like Islamophobia, selling out, Kwanzaa, and obnoxious people in wheelchairs played by Shia LeBeouf, The Proud Family. It’s still the only Disney animated show to be exclusively produced by Disney Television’s animation branch (It was produced by Jambalaya Studios by one Bruce Wayne [I know] Smith, who was also a supervising animator on many hand drawn Disney films!).
It also features notable black actors and singers in guest roles like Gabrielle Union, Solange, Al Roker,  Mariah Carey
Some Episodes: Hip-Hop Helicopter, Romeo Must Wed (with Dante Basco, of course!)
———

From “Paul and Joe” comes another series that holds up remarkably well, Recess. It’s like Fillmore! but with the spirit, trials, and tribulations of childhood as opposed to adolescence that parodied a wider variety of genres. The bright art and imagination of children touching upon things like fads and video games makes this still a relatively timeless show.
P & J’s followup, Lloyd in Space could be on the service too. I mean, I’m not in charge, if Iger wants to put it on there, go ahead. It just wasn’t as good as Recess.
Some Episodes: One Stayed Clean, Economics of Recess
————

Oh, Motorcity. Not nearly as old as many shows on this list, and chronically shortlived, even shorter than Fillmore!
Why? Not because it took place in the futuristic apocalyptic underground wasteland of Detroit, but because Disney XD would air the new episodes, yes the NEW ones, at 12 AM. On Monday.

Why.
The series ran for technically less than a year, cancelled before it even concluded (Though, thankfully, we got all of the episodes aired). While Titmouse Studios is trying to get the rights back to continue it with a company who cares, maybe Disney+ is just what they needed to jump-start a second season.
Some Episodes: The Duke of Detroit Presents, Battle for Motorcity

I really could have added so many more - The Buzz on Maggie, Fish Hooks, Phineas and Ferb, The Replacements, Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, Teamo Supremo, Wander Over Yonder, The 7D....but I'll leave it to ya'll to bemoan "How could you miss [show that came out in the 90s when I was like 3], OP?!"

Norwegian Authorities Investigating TIDAL for Fraudulent Streams

"Every great movement started with a group of people being able to get together and really just make a scam stand. This collaboration feels so ego-less." - Beyonce at Tidal's launch press conference.

The Norwegian economic and environmental crimes unit known as ØOKOKRIM has confirmed that it is investigating multiple allegations that some streaming numbers on the ego-less Tidal had been manipulated.

It was reported last year that the service has been allegedly manipulating its streaming data to grossly inflate the number of times that Kanye West's 'The Life of Pablo' and Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' albums were played.

EnTIDALd denies the claims saying the allegations are "a smear campaign" made up of "lies and falsehoods," which it will fight vigorously.

Instagram's most-followed woman, Selena Gomez, made her return after a 4-month break from the app, to thank her followers for their support and wish them a happy new year:

It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support. Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming. Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all.

The singer recently sought treatment at an undisclosed rehab facility after an emotional breakdown in October, just weeks after announcing her social media hiatus.

Iggy Azalea weighs in on Religion VS Astrology on Twitter

$
0
0

Iggy Azalea took to social media to discuss how religion “causes more harm than good” and adds that it’s “100% still a sub-plot in some wars.” How this discussion exactly started is unclear as these tweets seem to have been deleted since or OP is a flop and can’t find them.

Somewhere in the discussion an online user then compared religion to astrology writing, “Astrology also isn’t a real thing. The Barnum Effect makes people associate with generic traits that kinda apply to everyone. i.e ‘Group A wants to feel love and accepted.’”

Iggy counters, writing, “One could also argue God isn’t a real thing and serves the same functionality...fight me.”

That same user responds and agrees with her while Iggy also adds, “Yeah but we don’t have wars over our star signs so let us have our fun!”

Another user writes, “Amen. As a gay man, I see religion spark violence against me all the time. So often it’s used as a tool to justify hatred and oppression, while claiming to teach love and compassion.”

She replies, “Exactly! I don’t see anyone committing hate crimes and then saying it’s because they’re a Virgo so let’s leave it at that!”

In the end, when someone asks her if she believes in God, she writes, “I don’t feel one way or the other about it. I’ll let you know when I die...”
