Julia Roberts Headline Fail (and Some More Featuring Other Celebs)

The Jamestown, NY newspaper Post-Journal wrote their own headline for an AP story that they picked up this weekend about Julia Roberts' new Amazon show Homecoming:

They issued this correction today:

Here's a look at a few other celebrity-related headline fails:

Leaving one letter out of Tigers' pitcher Doug Fister's name really makes a difference:

And you thought subtly shading foreign leaders with her brooch choices was as down and dirty as she got...

...They're onto the rest of her coven, too:

Turns out Yukon Cornelius didn't reform that Bumble after all - and now he's gone and dragged Winnie the Pooh into his sordid life of crime:

They prefer tiny...hands:

I guess cheaters really do end up alone:

Sarah Palin's mouth is a lethal weapon:

Not exactly a headline, but that is one really awkward photo layout for Maria Sharapova:

Here’s how to get free Starbucks coffee or tea every day in January

$

No, this isn’t spam and Stewie isn’t a bot (though sometimes I wonder😒). Coffee enthusiasts last month were upset when their reusable red coffee cups sold out in mere minutes. But the company is raising the stakes this time around. Starbucks has announced their new 16-ounce Brewed Refill Tumbler, which you can find in stores now (if they haven’t already sold out in your location). And starting January 1st 2019, walk into any SBux location and get a free refill on hot coffee or tea every single day in January.

So what’s the catch? No specialty coffees or teas are available as part of this promotional deal and the Tumbler will set you back $40+ tax. But if you break down your drinking habits, you can figure out if this deal is worth it for you or not. Go every single day or nearly every day and the cup pays for itself and can save anywhere from $40 to $50 for the entire month. But let’s say even if you don’t end up going every day next month, just 14 visit or so will help you break even so the tumbler pays for itself. Go less days and well, perhaps leave this cup on the shelf.

Jennifer Aniston shared an anecdote about her early days in L.A. on The Late Late Show with James Corden. She says:
  • “This dishwasher would start to go, or the coffee-maker would start to go, or the stereo would just turn on at full volume. And it was terrifying.”
  • Someone told her she had a spirit and needed to have someone clear it
  • The ghost whisperer put frankincense a little dish, which cracked when she took it to the first corner of the house
  • Later, a heavy ashtray cracked
  • The ghost told the whisperer that he hated Aniston’s roommate
  • Aniston moved out without telling her roommate that

ABC reportedly charging $2 million - $ 3million for ads airing during 2019 Oscars

Because it is indeed the Super Bowl of the entertainment industry, the Oscars and ABC are seeking $2 million and $3 million per 30-second ad for their 2019 live telecast on February 24th. ABC charged as much as $2.6 million for a spot at this past year's very lackluster Oscars. ABC also made $128 million from the 2017 telecast, for reference.

Just for comparison, CBS is demanding between $5.1 million and $5.3 million for the 2019 Super Bowl, and $1 million for a 30-second spot at February's Grammys.

Also, for those interested, Variety broke down who they think will be the big Oscars contenders this season, here (just in time for tomorrow's SAG nominations): https://variety.com/2018/film/awards/2019-oscars-predictions-academy-awards-1203065044/

- Because we are now apparently forbidden from coming up with original concepts for film and television, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in a remake of The Guilty.
- The film won the world cinema audience award at Sundance and has been nominated for several European awards, as well as being Denmark's Oscar entrant this year.
- Jake is set to produce under his Nine Stories banner with Riva Marker, in cooperation with Bold Films.

  • TV commentator Gretchen Carlson who in 2016 successfully sued Fox News mogul Roger Ailes for sexual harassment resulting in a $20 million payout is upset about the upcoming movie about Ailes's downfall

  • Among the inaccuracies Carlson is angry about: being portrayed by Nicole Kidman who she's upset looks nothing like her and Kidman as Carlson being pictured carrying TWO handbags when Carlson only carried one

  • The film (formerly called Fair & Balanced) also stars John Lithgow as Ailes and a ton of Hollywood blondes as the blonde commentators of Fox including Charlize Theron, Connie Britton, Margot Robbie, Elisabeth Röhm, Kate McKinnon, Alice Eve and more

A Selena Quintanilla TV series greenlit by Netflix

Netflix has greenlit a scripted series that retells the tragic life story of Selena Quintanilla, la reina of Tejano music and one of the most iconic Mexican-American singers to have lived.

“Selena and the entire Quintanilla family are an inspiration to many and especially to me, a millennial of the same heritage. Selena’s career achievements are legendary, but our scripted series will focus on the incredible story of a Mexican-American family and how an extraordinary young woman transcended categories and borders to become a global star. I can’t imagine a better partner than Netflix to celebrate Selena and her family’s lives,” said the president of Campanario Entertainment.

Selena was tragically shot and killed in 1995 at the young age of 23 by her former fan club president Yolanda Saldívar. She’s currently being held in the Mountain View Unit in Texas serving a life sentence with a possibility of parole in 2025.

A biopic Starring Jennifer Lopez was released in 1997 by Warner Bros. and helped catapult Lopez and her career.

Gay comedians defend Sarah Silverman amid Kevin Hart Oscars row

Several gay comedians came to Sarah's defense after Nick Cannon tried to compare her, along with Amy Schumer and Chelsea Handler, to Kevin Hart over the fall-out of the comedian stepping down as oscar host after his refusal to apologize for his homophobic jokes.

Source.

Billy Eichner tweeted that while he didn't think people should use the f-word, he believes the context and intent was different with Hart than it was with the other comedians Cannon listed.

Guy Branum and Louis Virtel have also come to Sarah's defense.

Author Greg Hogben tweeted that whereas Silverman, Schumer, and Handler were all allies, Hart's humor about not wanting a gay child felt malicious (full thread here).

Silverman herself responded to another user, after retweeting Hogben's thread.
