The Cincinnati Bengals clinched a spot in the playoffs Sunday thanks to a 42-14 thrashing of the Minnesota Vikings.
The story of the game wasn't Andy Dalton's 366 passing yards and four touchdowns. Nor was it the Bengals defense limiting the Vikings to 229 yards of total offense and forcing four turnovers.
Nope.
The story of the game was the halftime show at Paul Brown Stadium.
What was it, you ask? Oh, nothing really. Just a monkey riding a dog.

Yes, a real, live monkey rode atop a real, live dog across the field in Cincinnati. And better yet, the dog-and-monkey duo were chasing after a group of real, live rams.
A dog-riding monkey chasing a flock of rams. On an NFL field. Let that sink in for a second.
Think about how far we've come as a human race that we're now able to teach monkeys to ride domesticated canines that chase after a flock of rams. World peace can't be too far off.
But what's next? What happens when the dog-and-monkey show becomes stale? This is not the first time a halftime show has featured a dog atop a monkey. After all, the water-skiing squirrel and skateboarding bulldog of the mid-'90s are all but forgotten.
If Apple can release a new smartphone ever year, one would assume that we can teach a species of animal a new party trick every 12 months. What if the monkey shot flaming arrows at targets while riding the dog? How about implementing flight? We've already mastered the art of using falcons, hawks and eagles as part of pregame festivities. Surely we can teach a monkey to fly atop a bird of prey.
As the most specialized and advanced species on the planet, it only makes sense that we continue to push the envelope when it comes to animal-based halftime entertainment.
But for now, we have a monkey riding a dog, and there aren't many people that are going to be upset with that.
Because, after all, it's a monkey riding a dog.
