Wednesday TV Ratings: A Million Little Things disappoints, OneChicago underwhelms

Wednesday night saw the premiere of new emotionally manipulative TV series A Million Little Things. For a show that was literally the most promoted new show of the summer, a 1.1 A18-49 was a total disappointment. Earlier in the night, ABC aired new comedy "Single Parents" starring Leighton Meester which did pretty well with a 1.3 A18-49 following the season premiere of Modern Family at a 1.6. American Housewife, which followed Modern Family all of last season, moved to 8.30 this year and got a 1.2 rating, following the season premiere of The Goldbergs at 1.4. If you didn't know, ABC will be launching a spin-off of The Goldbergs early next year titled "Schooled" and starring AJ Michalka, Tim Meadows and ONTD fave Rachel Crow.
On the other side, NBC launched their revamped "OneChicago" Wednesday turned out to be underwhelming with Chicago Med at a 1.2, Chicago Fire at a 1.3, and Chicago PD at 1.2. Those are still decent numbers, but surely NBC hoped that putting all the Chicago shows on one night would bump their ratings and that didn't happen. They did get a high viewership number (7 to 8 million), but they block turned out to be old skewing and that's not the demo advertisers care about. Next week NBC will be airing a threeway "OneChicago" crossover.
FOX did really well with their musical block of Empire at 1.9 and Star at 1.4.
CBS aired 90 minute premiere of Survivor, followed by 90 minute finale of Big Brother, both of which got a 1.7 rating, making CBS the #1 network of the night.

On the cable side, the all hype and no ratings season of American Horror Story continued to tumble in rating getting a 0.9 for last night's episode. In three weeks, AHS: Apocalypse has dropped nearly 40%.

Childish Gambino forced to postpone "This Is America" tour due to injury

Childish Gambino (Donald Glover's rap persona) was spotted wearing a leg brace during his September 21 show in Las Vegas, and abruptly ended his Dallas show two nights later.

Eight concerts have been postponed until early December: Vancouver, Nashville, Denver, Phoenix, San Jose, Oakland, and two shows in LA. The show scheduled for Seattle has been cancelled.

New Charmed promo shows familiar face + OG Charmed regains theme song

-In one of many new Charmed promos, fans of the original show will see an easter egg to the witch that started it all: Melinda Warren.

-Melinda Warren was the Halliwells ancestor who was the first witch in the Warren line and held all 3 powers. Melinda prophesied that the Charmed Ones would one day be born and become the most powerful witches the world would see.










-With its 3rd season reairing in Australia remastered, Charmed has officially been given back its theme song!

-They originally lost it shortly after the series finished airing as CBS refused to pay for the rights.

Big Brother 20 stars get engaged on national TV; likely expecting a baby too + who won?

ONTD, did you watch the Big Brother 20 finale last night? Because despite who won the $500,000 + who won America's Favorite Houseguest, one of the season's showmances, Bayleigh (age 25) and Swaggy C (real name Chris) (age 23) got engaged in a super-cringeworthy moment of live TV!

Skip to 1:20 where Julie Chen-Moonves asks them for a relationship update. She rightly points out that they had known each other for only 23 days before Swaggy C was voted out.



-People following along all summer know Bayleigh told fellow houseguest Haleigh that they had unprotected sex 7 times in the house and that she thought she could be pregnant
-The couple told Facebook aftershow Off the Block With Ross and Marissa that they want to have babies ASAP, but avoided the current rumours
-Said they can't comment on anything baby-related
-Bayleigh's parents have known about Swaggy C's plans for weeks... but her sisters only found out the day of the finale

This isn't the first showmance to result in a finale engagement on live TV — Big Brother 2's Mike "Boogie" Malin proposed to Krista. Alas, it did not work out for them, and they never made it down the aisle.

-Jim Bellino, former husband of Alexis "Jesus Jugs" Bellino is suing Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador for $1 million dollars stating that the two shit talk him and make up lies about him and his marriage to his former wife.

-Grethen and Slade being no strangers to drama and getting 15mins of fame have contacted Jim letting him know that they would like to help him in his lawsuit by testifying against Tamra/Shannon.






-Porsha Williams has announcted that she is pregnant!

-While this season wont follow Kenya with her first pregnancy, it will be following Porsha with hers.

-Porsha has spent the last several seasons talking about wanting to start a family with anybody, even if she has to go in alone though she wont be going in alone as her current boyfriend is very excited to be a father.



-Andy appeared on PlaybyPlay where he made the ultimate diss against Carole regarding her feud with Bethenny “I thought it was very Trumpian of her,” Andy told host Jerry O’Connell. “And I was very surprised by that.”

-Carole was not pleased by this and responded







-This week new HW Gina claimed that she does not believe in God while discussing her impending divorce with her husband.

-This sent shockwaves through the cast as they could not believe that someone would are not believe in God. Vicki thinks that Gina will be punished after she dies by God for not believing in him.

-They all also went crazy that she would dare divorce her husband.

On the season premiere of ABC’s American Housewife, actress Meg Donnelly (who plays Taylor Otto on the show) sings “Bad Day” by Canadian singer Daniel Powter. Well, in the show she grows up all her young life thinking it’s called “Ham & Pâté.”

In the show, Taylor auditions for a part in her high school musical production by singing “Bad Day,” and gets most of the lyrics wrong.

Now a season regular, afro-latina Amirah Vann who plays the tough attorney Caplan & Gold who became a FBI Informant Tegan Price talks with The Grio about "how she sees her role evolving and why it’s so important to her to bring authentic representation to the small screen".

On rocking her natural hair
“I really fought for her to have natural hair styles and fought against using heat products in my hair because that’s a big thing. I love that Pete [Nowak] has been receptive to that. We can show more of America that there are professionals who look different than you and you have to get over it. Hair has become an opportunity for people to express their biases and their fears and we have to put a stop to that. It’s a small little detail that touches upon a larger conversation that I’m happy to be a part of.”

On having a say on her wardrobe for her character Tegan
“Our costume designer is fantastic. There is something about Tegen where her style is just as specific as the character is. Tegan is more together than I am in real life. She’s not afraid of being seen and I think that’s a part of her power and I love that about her"

Christina Aguilera is facing backlash after it was revealed her XXL and XXXL sized tour merchandise costs an additional $5.

- Nylon Magazine argues the "fat tax" is prejudiced, and wonders "Isn't it kind of strange that clothes celebrating the idea of 'liberation' would adhere to such an archaic, narrow-minded line of thinking?"

- They go on to say if the fat tax is justified, then people should also be charging more for their Tall or Maternity clothing, and that petite people should be getting discounts.

EW shares a first look at the 'Stranger Things' prequel novel + some new season 3 set pics

• The prequel novel, titled Suspicious Minds is set for a February 25, 2019 release.

• The author previously stated that the novel would focus on Eleven's mother, Terry Ives, and the MKUltra program. The cover confirms that Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine's character from season 1) will also play a major role in the novel.

• The article includes a preview of the first chapter of the novel.


• The novel takes place in 1969 and chapter one is from Brenner's point of view.

• Details his arrival at the Hawkins lab. He brings along a five-year old Kali (aka "Eight" from the much maligned season 2 episode "The Lost Sister") and notes that every other subject of his experiments had proved "disappointing" until her.

• References Vietnam, the US government, and alludes to "communist scientists". Kind of overdoing it in the eagerness to have readers understand that the Cold War doesn't feel so cold at that moment in time.

• Brenner intimidates the workers at the Hawkins lab, dismisses all test subjects before announcing that they will now use 'feeder universities' where they will presumably recruit Terry Ives.


• Production on the final two episodes of season 3 finally started this week.

• Millie Bobby Brown was spotted in Malibu of all places (the show is set in Indiana but is shot in Georgia), filming a scene on the beach today.

• A few of the extras were children in little league uniforms.

• The season is expected to wrap up production in the next month or two, and is slated for a summer 2019 release.

Hillary Clinton guest starred on the ‘Murphy Brown’ premiere as secretarial candidate

The premiere of Murphy Brown revival included a special guest appearance from Hillary Clinton. Though the former presidential candidate didn't play herself but a character named "Hilary" (one L) who came to apply for the position of Murphy's secretary.
As her work experience, Hilary says that she was the secretary of a "very large organization" for four years and has experience with emails.
At the end of the interview Murphy tells "Hilary" that although she is very impressive, she is a bit too overqualified for the job. Hilary does leave Murphy with her business card which has her email: Hilary at you could have had me dot com.

The former N.B.A star has written for The Hollywood Reporter & a few books of nonfiction, one of which he adapted into a documentary in 2011.
