- "To me, I think it's very exciting. It's like Sherlock Holmes. The material in itself is a very different type of literature -- and it's not necessarily literature. But it is something that people keep coming back to and they're drawn to. That's something that needs to be explored and if it needs to be explored on all different levels, then it should be. ... It will only be a more positive result for women."

- ICYMI, the new Angels are Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, with Elizabeth Banks directing, producing and playing Bosley.

- Lucy Liu directed the episode.

- Holmes and Watson search for a killer choosing victims based on the predictions of a deceased man who claimed to foresee the future deaths of others, including the murder of Sherlock Holmes.

- Tom Everett Scott returns as Henry Baskerville, Holmes and Watson's wealthy former client.

David Harbour (Chief Jim Hopper) analyzes Reddit fan theories and gives his spoiler-free take for Vanity Fair:

• Theory # 3 seems most intriguing.

Stranger Things Season 3 Inspired by Fletch
David Harbour says that
Stranger Things Season 3 is inspired by the Chevy Chase movie Fletch, in which a chameleonic reporter uses several disguises to go undercover as he investigates a murder plot.

"The Duffers are so specific each year with the movies. And Fletch is one movie we get to play around and have some fun with this season, which you wouldn't expect from Stranger Things, and you wouldn’t expect from the Spielberg universe, and you certainly wouldn’t expect from a darker season," Harbour said.

Charlie Heaton has been cast as Joseph Merrick in BBC's The Elephant Man

• Two-part, 90 min each and written by Neil McKay (Moorside)

• Will be filmed in Wales

Charlie Heaton says: "I'm extremely excited and honoured to be given the opportunity to take on the portrayal of Joseph Merrick in the BBC's adaption of The Elephant Man. This is such a special role and a challenge for any actor. Joseph has such an incredible story and I can't wait to go on this journey and bring him to life."

• Other actors who have portrayed Merrick include David Bowie, Mark Hamil, and BAFTA-winning and Academy Award-nominated Jon Hurt

Warner Bros. and their summer surprise hits may've made them the summer's big winner

$

Forbes argued that although Disney technically is the box office winner thanks to their Marvel titles, it was Warner Bros. who came out as the big summer winner thanks to their small(ish) budgeted hits that will undoubtedly create new franchises for the company.

-- The first WB title mentioned is of course 'Crazy Rich Asians', whose sequel is already confirmed. The movie so far has made $44.4M in its first week of release domestically (off a $30M budget), and is still selling out shows.
-- Second is 'The Meg', which did well beyond expectations. The ridiculous shark action movie has so far made $89m domestic and $350m worldwide, off a $130M budget, and is not relenting.
-- Third is 'Ocean's 8', which while wasn't a MAJOR hit domestically, it recouped its box office and more. The women-starring heist fest so far made $290m on a $70m budget. No word yet on a sequel, but there's still room for Ocean's 9 and 10 before we go back to the start.

Not to say that small budget movies didn't do well, but this summer was beyond the same ole superhero stuff. Also WB definitely shouldn't have to worry about the fall since they're continuing two already-successful franchises ('The Nun', 'Fantastic Beasts'), and, well.... DC with 'Aquaman'. They can at least guarantee two hits there.

~ Estranged wife Jennifer Garner staged an intervention on Wednesday and begged him to get help

~ Ben didn't resist, he was receptive and agreed

~ Jen took action when she saw a photo of a delivery man giving Ben a box with alcohol in it
[OP note, thx to a couple of you who pointed that out to me in a previous post, brandnewinfo.gif]

~ Jen and another woman (sister? they look similar) drove Ben to a live-in rehab facility

~ They stopped at a Jack in the Box on the way (lol yes for real)

[For those keeping score at home, I sure did guess this part wrong]

ONTD have you ever been part of an intervention for someone?
Or
ONTD are you looking forward to seeing Jennifer Garner's new movie Peppermint which opens on Sept 7th? It appears to channel her Sydney character. Alias rocked.

ONTD Original: Revising Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century (Part One)

$

Inspired by this post. Basically, Rolling Stone poo-poohed this list, so OP thought it was best to revise it because their list had some struggles. So here is OP's take (the objective one) on what are the 100 Best Songs of the 21st century so far. To help narrow it down, the song had to be officially released as a single by the artist and that no artist could appear more than three times. OP thinks she followed her own rules. AnyTway, my list a probably a lot different from Rolling Stone and that might be for the better. Please remember, if you don't seen your favorite song or artist, it doesn't mean I think they are bad or not worthy to be on the list but I narrowed this down from 250 and it was incredibly tough. Also OP is old and she forgets people, places and things.

100. The Kills – “URA Fever”

To kick off the list is slinky, sexy and slight dirty tune from the American-Brit duo. Mosshart’s seductive voice clashed with Hince’s thrashing guitar is no surprise why this group was constantly featured in Gossip Girl.

99. Radiohead – “I Might Be Wrong”

Probably the only radio friendly single from Amnesiac demonstrating the band’s experimentation with blues and electronic music.

98. Charlotte Cardin – “Dirty Dirty”

97. How to Dress Well – “Cold Nites”

The guy is a fucking sleaze, but damn it if this song ain’t great.

96. The Rapture – “How Deep is Your Love?”

Warning: it’s not a cover of the Bee Gees song and the video edit is half of the studio cut on the album, but The Rapture’s last album delivered some funky bops bordering on spiritual.

95. Buddy Guy – “Please Don’t Leave Me”

Okay, so I broke my rule of singles only for this list. But this was featured in Hustle & Flow, so it’s not too far off. Besides, it’s important to know the music of the man who inspired Jimi Hendrix.

94. No Doubt – “Bathwater”

OP leaves post to do some crunches.

93. Junior Senior – “Move Your Feet”

Everything about this song is fucking strange: the damn song, the damn video and yet it’s damn addicting.

92. Vagabon – “The Embers”

Her debut album was a breath of fresh air in the white dominated world of indie rock, but at the same time Vagabon delivers us some good ol’ 90s nostalgia.

91. Blur – “Under the Westway”

90. Tricky ft. Hawkman and Ed Kowalczyk – “Evolution Revolution Love”

We’re obviously years off from Tricky’s magnum opus Maxinequaye, but this collaboration is odd on paper but executes a song that encapsulates the blend of dark pulses of trip-hop and romance.

89. Gorillaz – “Rhinestone Eyes”

Thought it’d be Clint Eastwood, huh? Damon Albarn makes his second appearance with this track from the superior Plastic Beach shows a band at the top of their production game.

88. Franz Ferdinand – “Michael”

This song is not about Michael Jackson.

87. Santigold – “L.E.S. Artistes”

Whichever way she chooses to spell her name, it was so hard to narrow it down so she wouldn’t take up 20% of the list. One of her earliest singles introduces us to the powerhouse artist that would continue to deliver genuine artistry.

86. Interpol – “Evil”

85. Sleigh Bells – “Rill Rill”

The heavily sampled “Can You Get to That” by Parliament Funkadelic is what makes this song.

84. Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell – “Drop it Like It’s Hot”

83. Rihanna – “Kiss It Better”

Only took eight or nine albums, but Rihanna finally delivered an entertaining, cohesive album – one that beats her previous works by miles.

82. Britney Spears – “Gimme More”

One of the best songs in Spears’ discography and that’s saying a lot. The wonderful thing about this song is that if Spears were to release it today, it would still sound fresh.

81. Vampire Weekend – “Oxford Comma”

A Williamsburg classic.

My apologies mods, I'll be breaking this post down over the next few days.

Roger Waters asks LDR to reconsider Israel concert, LDR responds and shrugs it off

A post shared by Lana Del Rey (@lanadelrey) on

Singer Lana Del Rey shared another post to clarify her posture regarding her upcoming concert in Israel, defending her decision to not cancel it despite the international call to boycott.

This time, she also answered to legendary artist Roger Waters, who shared his thoughts on a Facebook post directly addressing Del Rey.

The post Lana Del Rey responded to (from Roger Waters' Facebook):

    Dear Lana Del Rey

I have been reading your comments on Twitter, maybe I can help clear a couple of things up. Palestine is a unique situation in that the BDS picket line exists at the request of Palestine civil society as a whole. To respect it as I, and many others do, is a political act of support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for basic human rights. To cross it, conversely, is a political act in support of the apartheid state that would deny them those basic human rights. Even if in your heart of hearts you believe yourself to be neutral. As Nobel Peace Laureate Desmond Tutu rightly says, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” I implore you, and any other act considering crossing the picket line, to perform at the Meteor Festival to consider long and hard, I have no doubt the Israeli promoters are paying top dollar, they are well known for that, but is the price worth passing up your moment on the road to Damascus and abandoning your Palestinian brothers and sisters to their fate in their hour of need ?

    Love
    R.

PS. Great news just in, Black Motion cancel!
“BDS South Africa can confirm that we did reach out to the management of Black Motion, who graciously met with us, were open to the information we provided including the letter written by Palestinians (https://bdsmovement.net/meteor) and a letter by progressive Jewish Israeli allies (http://boycottisrael.info/node/346) urging artists to boycott Israel and not to perform at the upcoming Meteor Festival. We thank them for both their willingness to engage and their decision to not perform in Israel.”

Much love and respect to our brothers in Black Motion. R

Fall Out Boy "surprise"-releases Lake Effect Kid EP

+ Rumors have been swirling about a full version of Lake Effect Kid since shortly after MANIA was released, but yesterday we finally got confirmation.

+ For those who don't know, Lake Effect Kid was a demo released on the Welcome to the New Administration mixtape before Folie à Deux was released in 2008. Fans have been wishing for a full version ever since.

+ The whole EP is a love letter to Chicago. Each song seems to represent an era of FOB's sound - Lake Effect Kid is pre-hiatus FOB, City in a Garden is similar to Save Rock and Roll and American Beauty/American Psycho, and Super Fade may be one of the songs they cut from MANIA after the mixed reception of Young and Menace (but it's SO much better than Y&M imo).

    - it's about a disgraced children's puppeteer (yeah, really) who returns to his childhood home and his shitty stepfather with a very weird puppet in a bag; creepy shit ensues
    - stars veteran actor Alum Armstrong and shy Method oddball love of la_petite_singe's life Sean Harris (the bad guy from Mission: Impossible 5 & 6)
    - it's playing at a bunch of festivals and then comes out in the U.K. October 26th; no U.S. release date yet because life is cruel
