Crazy Rich Asians director talks about why he used a cover of Coldplay's 'Yellow' in the soundtrack

$

  • The films uses a lot of covers of popular English language songs including a Mandarin version of Coldplay's Yellow sung by Katharine Ho

  • Chu chose Yellow because the song is romantic and pretty but also to reclaim the term yellow which often has negative associations and which has been used in derogatory ways against asian people

  • Chu said that the execs at Warner Bros flipped out and weren't on board at first because they thought it would look bad but Chu said that while a white director couldn't get away with it he could

  • Coldplay intially also denied the use of the song but Chu wrote them a personal note about how the first time he heard Yellow was also the first time he heard the colour used in a positive and beautiful way and how much it would mean to him to have it in the film

  • Within an hour of him sending the note he was granted permission to use the song

Nicki Garbage Update, She Shades Cardi, Sony Disputing 'FEFE' addition + Download Queen for Free

Queen of Desperation, Nicki Minaj gave an interview to Tidal last night and claimed that there has always been great female rappers in the industry but having a big push from a label does not make you great rapper and also added: "Every two years, I get told about some new female rapper... so to me it is silly to compare me, there is no woman that can come in right now... that realistically can put up the stats." Many saw this as a shot at Cardi .

Nicki is also giving away her album for free on Tidal, just enter the code "Queen" here http://tidal.com/us/store/album/93590429 and it will allow you to download the full album including late addition track by 69 'FEFE'. Though they will not count for the Billboard 200, the RIAA will count them for certification so Nicki will be able to claim her album went Gold on debut.

Sony (Travis Scott's Epic Label owner) is also arguing that Nicki's label (Republic) is attempting chart manipulation and that streams of FEFE should not count.
No word yet from Billboard if they will count it.

She also just added a cheap $15 'FEFE' shirt to her store which surprise, includes a copy of 'Queen'.

'Alpha' faces animal death allegations, PETA calls for boycott

$

In 2016, The Hollywood Reporter investigated the use of five bison carcasses on the set of the Jeff Robinov movie Alpha (then titled The Solutrean). There are allegations that the wrangler responsible for obtaining the carcasses (John Scott) had them slaughtered and skinned for the purpose of filming, which is prohibited by the American Humane Association.

Scott's been linked to controversy before, including a horse's death during the production of The 13th Warrior (1999) and selling horses used on Canadian TV series Heartland to Bouvry Exports, a slaughterhouse known for its inhumane practices. He did not comment on any of these situations specifically, but statements include: “I have the right to do with my bison whatever I want to do" and "I take my horses to horse sales, and I can't help where they go from there."

Though others from the film claim the bison were not slaughtered specifically for the project, questions remain. PETA Senior VP Lisa Lange calls for audiences to boycott the film and says, "Five sensitive bison lost their lives, all so that their bodies could be used as props in this wholly forgettable flick."

Alpha opens Friday in North America.

Pete Davidson proposed to Ariana Grande the day they met

$

Full quote: According to the tabloids, Davidson presented Grande, 25, with a $93,000 pear-shaped diamond in June, after just a few weeks of dating. According to Davidson, it happened even quicker than that. "The day I met her, I was like, 'Hey, I'll marry you tomorrow,'" he says, grinning. "She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, 'Do you like any of these?' She was like, 'Those are my favorite ones,' and I was like, 'Sick.'"

Other choice quote:
Davidson and Grande recently moved into a Manhattan apartment that reportedly cost $16 million. She bought the place, Davidson says, and he stocks the fridge. "She's really sweet. She's like, 'This is our house,' and I'm like, 'You're very nice for saying that. Thank you for letting me stay here,'" he deadpans. "She's like, 'We're getting married!' And I'm like, 'I know, thank you for letting me stay here.'" They're still working on decorating it. "It's like, we have six beanbags, but we have no forks—you know what I mean?" he says, taking a massive bite of pasta salad. "We're learning how to be adults. We're having a really fun time."

Mike Ness, lead singer of punk band Social Distortion, punched a Trump supporter in the crowd of his Sacramento concert a few days ago. The Trump supporter was angry that Ness spoke out against Trump at the concert, calling him a racist and a bigot. The petty Trump supporter responded by putting up his two middle fingers in the air for 2-3 songs during the finale, and yelling that he 'didn't pay for his politics.'

Ness wasn't having it, and went into the crowd to punch the man and offered to keep it up if he would stick around after the show.

Said Trump supporter is thinking about pressing charges.

Silicon Valley's Alice Wetterlund accused co-star T.J. Miller of being "a bully and petulant brat."

Miller denied Wetterlund's claims on the Jim Norton & Sam Roberts show Wednesday.

“It was not my experience that anyone was bullying her or mean to her."

“Truthfully, I felt like it was difficult to work with her because she kept interrupting Zach Woods. And that was my perspective of it.”

He continued:

“I am not a bully,” “I don’t think I have the energy of somebody who comes in and is like, ‘Hey, shut up, OK? The men are talking right now.’”

“I play an a—hole on TV, but I’m not a bully in real life, ever.”

The tea from Kylie's 21 bday party stretcher incident + Kris Jenner comments

$
0
0

Follow-up tothis post, it turns out something must have happened...

Yesterday, Kris Jenner did a short, 15-minute interview with a popular Australian radio show, Kyle & Jackie O. It seems like she does interviews with them often, and most of the time is to clear up rumors.

You can hear the whole interview here.

The interview starts off very chill, they ask her about Rob, if he will show up in the next season the show (she doesn´t know), and if Kourtney actually wants to leave (she just says that she was going through something) and apparently she (Kourtney) and her bf broke up.

At 4:20 min, they ask her about "that aussie" that got stretched out of Kylie´s party and this is what she says:

"Well, I hope she´s ok. I actually left before any of that happened, cause I typically go to bed at around 9 o´clock, so it was way past my bedtime. So I am not sure... I still don´t know. I´ve asked several people, like, you know. And then I saw that she did a video, explaining that she was that was very jet-lagged and didn´t feel well. I hope that she´s ok."

At 13:18 min, a fan from the show calls in and she asks about the Tammy Hembrow incident and asks why did the Kardashians unfollow her on Instagram. To which Kris Jenner responds:

"Wait, who is it?" (the shade...)

[Radio tv hosts tell her they just talked about her a few minutes ago]

"Oh, I have no idea. I honestly did not know who she was when she got stretched out, so I am not sure if they followed her in the first place. Did they?"

Fan just answers "very strange, huh?" before they hang up on her (lol)

Tammy Hembrow strapped face down on a stretcher

After leaving Kylie´s party at around midnight, with dirty feet and a massive bruise on her face (found a better pic now)

Kim, Kris, Kourtney and Kendall unfollowed Tammy Hembrow on Instagram (and yes, they were actually following her not long ago). Kylie and Khloe are still following her though.

A couple of days after (Aug 12), E! news Australia published an interview with Tammy that had been filmed weeks before.

source: Youtube

In the video:

- She says that Good American contacted her to work with them because Khloe really liked her.
- Has met Kim, Kourney, Khloe, Kylie and Kendall.
- Thinks that "they´re super down the heart, like normal girls, like normal people" (lol)

They (E!) only put the video out two days after publishing an article of the interview on their website, that was posted on Kylie´s bday (Aug 10). With the Australian time zone difference, that would have given anyone in USA the entire day before the party to know about it. The article is titled"Tammy Hembrow: Get to Know the Australian Influencer With Almost 10 Million Followers".

The rumors of Tammy Hembrow having her own reality show with E! and replacing the Kardashians have just been growing stronger. Could this have been the reason for how she left the party?

Yesterday, Aug 15, a very popular bannedsource (DM) also published an article calling Tammy Hembrow and her family "the next Kardashians".

The Hembrow sisters in happier times

On Aug 12, Tammy Hembrow herself also posted a video (the one Kris talks about). This is two days after the party and you can clearly see her bruise (though covered up with make up), especially under one of her eyes and also a puffy coke head.

- Blames everything (without explaining what really happened) on being over 30 hours awake and being jet-lagged
- Says she just "collapsed" not sure if literally (like she fell) or felt physically exhausted
- Says she feels "very embarrassed" and will use this to "grow and become a better person"
- Says that she there are people out there who "genuinely support me, and love me and want me to succeed" (hm? message to the Kardashians?)
- Overall seems very hurt and genuinely crying imo
