Janet Mock, who became the first black trans woman to ever direct an hour of television after directing an episode of Pose, attended Pose's TCA panel alongside the show's cast. Mock and the cast discussed the cultural impact of the show. Scarlett Johansson's exit from proposed biopic Rub & Tug was mentioned. Highlights under the cut!

• Pose's unique take on 1980s ballroom culture will be returning for a second season after the first season (with only 8 episodes) was a smash success.


• Season one was set in 1988; season two will begin in 1989 and end in March 1990 (when Madonna released "Vogue").


• Amongst other things, season two will exploreBlanca and Pray Tell's HIV diagnosis.


• Mock is proud of Pose because it is "just one possibility of how that trans people can play trans people on screen and that it's completely possible and that you don't need a star name in order to make a series and to tell a story that's powerful and impactful and reaffirming.


• Cast member Indya Moore (Angel) describes the introduction of a trans superhero on CW's Supergirl as "effectively a sign of relief for the community."

Writing for season two begins in September. No return date yet, but keep an eye out!

If you ever happen to end up at Gordon Ramsay's newest restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip, aptly (and unoriginally) named Hell's Kitchen, maybe skip cocktail hour.

The injurious drink (not named, but believed to be the Rum Donkey) has since been removed from the menu. For those wondering what a Rum Donkey is, it is a flaming, tiki-style cocktail containing Cruzan Single Barrel Rum, falernum, brown sugar, ginger beer, and torched passion fruit.

Thankfully, the restaurant was fine. No word on whether or not idiot sandwiches were also ordered.

Actresses Niecy Nash, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Marsha Stephanie Blake, and Storm Reid have joined the Nexflix series “Central Park Five.”

Niecy Nash and Aunjanue Ellis will play the mothers of Korey Wise and Yusef Salaam. Kylie will play the sister of Kevin Richardson and Storm will play the friend of Kory Wise.

The series follows the the notorious 1980’s case of five Black and Latino teens who were convicted of a rape they did not commit.

I don't even know where to begin with this one, tbh. We all know he's racist. He's been extremely vile and racist towards Ms Maxine Waters for months on twitter and at his 'rallys' aka the new form of KKK meetings just public and without hoods. And now he is insulting a man who worked his ass off to have everything he has and is now passing that good fortune on to the next generation by providing free education and assistance to their families because he's just a good person. Sebstan has posted an insta live for the first time to make an announcement of this con appearances. Fandemic Comic Con in Houston, Texas had previously announced sebstan's appearance in September. Due to scheduling conflicts, sebstan has announced that he may not be able to make the September event. The fandemic comic con's website has updated accordingly.



HOWEVER, sebstan, being a wonderful person to his fans that he is, announced an impromptu appearance at Fandemic Comic Con this Thursday, AUGUST 9TH. He feels terrible as he has done this before, but wanted to make this event because he recognized that his fans come all over world just to meet him. He apologized for the short notice, and hopes at least some are able to meet him this Thursday.

Also, the fandemic comic con website has stated that those who wanted to see sebstan in September and cannot attend the August 9th event are able to request a refund.

George Michael's cousin revealed this week that the singer left nothing to his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, although the couple were together on-and-off for seven years, and that Fawaz is now contesting the will.

The following tweets were posted on Fawaz' twitter account today, along with a (now-deleted) tweet that apparently claimed "it took five attempts" for Michael to kill himself. (Yet another tweet says the account has been hacked):

'Sorry to Bother You' director Boots Riley says international distributors are claiming "black" movies don't perform well internationally and are treating his film "as such."
'Sorry to Bother You' will finish Sunday with a domestic total of $14 million.

Annapurna is handling domestic distribution and holds worldwide rights to the film.
The movie's foreign rollout via local international distributors is still being worked out.

It was still hanging on in 25 First-Run theaters after arriving on VOD and home video in May. Disney couldn't figure out a way to re-release it on a mass scale without A) losing more money and B) looking even more money-hungry, so they just .... waited.

Black Panther is still the #1 movie of the year.

IW is around 20$m behind, and will probably be the next film to be pushed over the milestone.
