Sanaa Lathan headlines, and it also features Ricky Whittle, Lyriq Bent, Ernie Hudson and Lynn Whitfield. 
It is a film adaptation of the best-selling novel by Trisha R. Thomas. Haifaa Al-Mansour is directing.

The film will follow a woman named Violet (Lathan) with a seemingly perfect life — a great job, a handsome boyfriend who’s a doctor, and a meticulously maintained coiffure. But after an accident at the hair salon, each of these things starts to unravel, and Violet begins to realize that she was living the life she thought she was supposed to live, not the one that she wanted. She starts to put the pieces back together with a little help from a soulful barber and his young daughter. Violet finds the courage to cast off some of the things that she didn’t really need, starting with the perfectly straightened hair and find a life that has real meaning.

Today is August 2nd—an extremely special day. In the year of our lord 1971, Schatar Sapphira Taylor Collier blessed us with her presence.

Best known as “Hottie,” the name bestowed upon her by Flavor Flav, this reality show queen has now graced the earth for 47 years.

Today, we will take a look at some highlights from this Beyonce lookalike’s life.

There is much more to this scammer queen’s life than reality TV. She is an author of kinky erotic fiction, a classically trained opera singer, and hosts a chicken-themed TV show.

Hottie, age 13


Born Schatar Taylor, she grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. She claims that she is descended from royalty.







She has an ivy league degree, as she attended the University of Pennsylvania—for real, y’all—and graduated in 1992. In college, she did a number of school plays and sang in the choir. She later attended Peabody Conservatory of Music, where she studied formal opera.



She tried to develop an acting career, doing Z-list movie and TV appearances, including a role credited as “Bikini Beach Babe” on CSI: Miami.

But her true calling came when she was cast on Flavor of Love in 2006. Then, HOTTIE was born.








She auditioned for Flavor of Love in 2005, and the show debuted in 2006. She was paid $800. Flav gave her the nickname “Hottie.” Before her golddiggery and scamming ways were exposed, Flav actually gave her the very first clock on the very first night.



And it only got better from there.

She tried to “hypmatize” Flav with her saggy magnificent boobs, which she varyingly claimed were 34DD, 38DD, and 44DD.







She microwaved an entire raw chicken and tried to feed it to an elderly woman.





She claimed that everyone else in the house was just jealous of her because her friends say that she looks like Beyonce.









She did tai chi by the pool in a pink negligee and white sweat socks.

She did tai chi by the pool in flannel pajamas and schoolgirl braids.

She "joked" about cutting up other girls' clothes to sabotage them.

She was a proud golddigger and was fond of saying, “This is my man, my mansion, and my money.”





She got into shouting arguments with New York.



And of course, her couture fashion was iconique.











But ultimately, Flav eliminated her because she showed her thirsty ways on a previous episode of Blind Date. Then, she failed a lie detector that Brigitte Nielsen gave her because she claimed to be 25 years old (she was 35) and to have a 28” waist (she did not.)







Then, she appeared on VH1's spinoff show Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School.

One of the first things Mo'Nique made the girls do was get rid of their nicknames. So "Hottie" went back to Schatar. But before she did, she presented Mo with a very special gift.

She stuck an apple between her titties, pulled it out, and gave it to her.



But Schatar was soon back to her old Hottie ways.

She won the first challenge, in which the girls had to carry camping equipment up a mountain, because she refused to carry anything except a small log and a bag of candy.

She stole Heather’s clothes that her parents had scrimped and saved to buy for her, and got Heather eliminated for it.

The other girls retaliated by finding a pair of her panties that had crusty stains on them and hanging them over her bed.

The girls had a challenge to sell perfume on the streets, but Hottie spent 20 minutes of the challenge in the bathroom.

She tried to sell her “couture” outfits, but the charity store didn’t want them because they were
stinky and stained.



She also claimed that her weave was her her own, natural human hair that grew out of her head.











Ultimately, Schatar did clownery and the clown came back to bite. Mo expelled Schatar because Larissa framed her for stealing Leilene's family picture. But Schatar's VH1 legacy would live on forever.







Schatar now claims that “Hottie” was merely a character. She says:

“Of course, the beautiful spirit, mind, face, innocence, body and voice are all for sure the real me... The character “Hottie” can be whatever fantasy you want her to be. She can be any age you want her to be.”

“In real life, I'm a girly girl vegetarian from Boston who got an A+ in Physics, who loves creating jewelry pieces, and luxurious, handmade dolls with big beautiful eyes.”

“I am honored that my face and name and voice are recognized globally. I stay humble because this kind of influence in pop culture is power.”


After FoL and CS, Hottie Schatar tried to do more entertainment jobs. She did lots of Z minus list acting and modeling jobs. These are some modeling shots from her portfolio that show her amazing versatility.















She also created a pop persona named "Monkeybank$" and made an album called I Love Balls (yes, seriously.) and had a single called "My Man, My Mansion, My Money." Her description of the CD reads,

It’s August, so the good indie pickings have started getting slim, but they’ll rev up again in late September/early October ahead of awards season. A24’s acclaimed Eighth Grade is going wide this week, so check for it in a theater near you if you haven’t already seen it. Other new wide releases from the bigger studios include Christopher Robin, The Spy Who Dumped Me and The Darkest Minds.

Yesterday, stan twitter was an in frenzy when they realized both Ariana and Nicki Minaj's albums Sweetener and Queen have the same August 17th release date. Some Ariana stans began thinking Nicki was trying to sabotage Ariana and that the "Side to Side" duo were not friends anymore. But Ariana took to Twitter and ignored her social media break to address the situation:

jesus is this what’s going on today? imma jus stop logging in at all lmfao. that’s my fucking sister. she’s clearing a sample. buy and stream queen & sweetener aug 17 bye. these numbers don’t mean as much to the artist as they do to y’all. jus want y’all to listen to the project.

But then, a stan called her out for liking Popcrave's tweets about her music stats and her clear interest in her music doing numbers.

Maybe Ariana doesn't care but Nicki sure as hell does.
