Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet is nearly finalizing talks to star in a remake of 'Dune', with the intention of turning this into a franchise (with multiple features). A summary of the story and his character, based off the Frank Herbert novels, is below:

Chalamet will play the lead, which in the David Lynch-directed original was Kyle MacLachlan. The young nobleman Paul Atreides is the central figure in the series of sprawling epic novels first published in 1965. It is set in the far future involving worlds beyond Earth, ruled over by competing feudal families who control access to a drug called Melange.

More details about the plot are at the source. No word yet on a filming schedule since as Chalamet already has projects coming up, including 'The King' currently in production, and Greta Gerwig's adaptation of 'Little Women'.

The horror short film can be a hit (really creepy, inspiring filmmakers to develop into a full feature film) or miss (low budget, low scares, and low entertainment factor). Because of the limited time, shorts can do really interesting things and without the weight of a three-act formula, it can be great to watch. Whether or not making them into a full film was a good decision or a choice is another post for another day...(looking at you Mama)

Before the web, the end of festivals would mean the end for these little films. Not so nowadays, so grab a cold drink, beat the heat and come with your sistren to take a look at (or share some of your own favs) some memorable horror shorts.

Dog Food (2014)

Starring bigger names (Amanda Seyfried and Cory Michael Smith), a butcher named Declan loses his dog and has dinner with a girl, Eva, who he met when she makes an order at his business. Maybe not totally a horror short, but suspenseful and cringey with some gore.

When a teenage girl tells her dad about a mysterious figure staring at her, all her father can say is: "DON'T LOOK AWAY". An intriguing premise that actually piques ones interest in a full feature.

• Broadway Barks is an annual animal charity event where Broadway stars promote animal adoptions. Here, the cast of The Boys in the Band hold some of the pups that were available for adoption.

It's a representation of nine people on this one night. At the time, it was a symbol for all gay people. It doesn't have to be.”


• Aside from starring in a Broadway show, he's writing a memoir focusing on his first few years in New York City. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and didn't see his first Broadway show until he was 18.

Amazon suffers glitches at the start of Prime Day, its biggest shopping day of the year. Some users saw an error page featuring the "dogs of Amazon" and were initially unable to enter the site.
