Scarlett Johansson drops transgender movie role in 'Rub and Tug' after backlash

  • Scarlett Johansson was set to play a trans character, Dante "Tex" Gill, in Rupert Sanders' crime drama Rub and Tug.
  • After backlash from the public, Scarlett Johansson has now withdrawn from the role.
  • Trace Lysette and Jamie Clayton both criticized Scarlett for taking the part.
  • Scarlett's response to the backlash was also met with criticism. She had previously said of the criticisms: "Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman’s reps for comment."
  • Scarlett had this to say about her exit: "In light of recent ethical questions raised surrounding my casting as Dante ‘Tex’ Gill, I have decided to respectfully withdraw my participation in the project...   • One of Hulu's (best) original series, Casual, is making its entire fourth and final season available July 31st.

  • The series, starring Michaela Watkins, Tommy Dewey, Tara Lynne Barr and Nyasha Hatendi, will set Season Four a couple years after the events of Season Three.

  • About the series: From the Academy Award Nominated Director of Up in the Air and Juno comes Casual, a comedy series about a bachelor brother and his newly divorced sister living under one roof again. Together, they coach each other through the crazy world of dating while raising her teenage daughter. Created by Zander Lehmann, Casual is executive produced by Jason Reitman, Zander Lehmann, Helen Estabrook, and Liz Tigelaar.

Details of the charges
... Russians (GRU eg Guccifer 2.0, and DCLeaks) hacked the DNC, the DCCC, and HRC campaign

... Some conspirators were "known" to the grand jury, some were "unknown"

... 12 indictments in total, covering conspiracy against US (DNC, HRC, etc), aggravated identity theft (more than 500,000 US voter info hacked), money laundering, and conspiracy to hack state election computers and e-vote companies

... At least one GOP MOC (Member of Congress) was obtaining info via these leaks about their "opponent" [This is why the GOP, particularly the House, are doing the absolute most to distract and dismantle the Mueller investigation. If it were just about DJT, then they'd throw him under a bus. But there are so many GOP complicit co-conspirators who were involved and or benefited that it could wipe out the party /sad]

... On July 27 2016, Agent Orange said "Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing." On the EXACT SAME DAY, the first hacking occurred. Yes, the EXACT SAME DAY.

-Younger Now, debuted at #5 on the Billboard Charts with 45,000 units, 33,000 of which were pure sales

-EW has released a new still from the upcoming Aquaman movie!

-The picture shows the kingdom of The Fisherman King (played by Djimon Hounsou (who also just got cast in Shazam as The Wizard)) which happens to be one of the 7 kingdoms in Atlantis.

-Why are we looking at humonoid fish? Because in the Aquaman mythos after Atlantis sunk some of the people evolved to more fish like apperances while others lost their humanity and devolved (most likely The Trench, who are supposed to appear in the film)

HBO has beat out Netflix in a bidding war and has green-lit Whedon's latest epic sci-fi show, The Nevers, which tells the story of a group of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual powers.

Whedon will serve as showrunner.

So you waited for several hours outside in the heat, and you still didn't get to Build-A-Bear yesterday? 🐻 No worries, Chuck E. Cheese has got your back! 🐭 The popular kids pizza chain announced over Facebook it's own Pay Your Age promotion to help dry the tears of any child who didn't get to customize and build their own furry friend. Yesterday, thousands of people showed up at several Build-A-Bear locations nationwide to redeem the offer that allowed anyone (young or old) to walk into the store and buy a Make-Your-Own stuffed animal for the price that corresponds to that person's age.

The company did not expect such a massive turn out and had to close lines and turn customers away, handing out vouchers where customers could return at a later time. There were major safety concerns and lines formed as long as outside of malls and well into the parking lot. The moral of the story? Never underestimate children who love stuffed animals and parents looking for a great deal.

Harvey Weinstein's Lawyer Denies He Admitted Offering Actresses Jobs for Sex

A follow-up to this post.

Only hours after the publication of a Spectator interview which quoted Harvey Weinstein as saying “Yes, I did offer [women] acting jobs in exchange for sex. But so did and still does everyone,” his publicity machine is in full swing doing damage control.

Weinstein's lawyer, Ben Branfman, says “I was present for the conversation. It was not an interview, but a social meeting between old friends. Harvey and Taki [Theodoracopulos, the writer] did not discuss the case, nor would I allow him to. They talked about old Hollywood and the contrast to European culture, and I think Taki sees Harvey in that older light. Mr. Weinstein never said anything about trading movie roles for sexual favors. You have my word that Harvey did not say that.”

And Theodoracopulos (a right-wing Greek journalist who has defended Weinstein and called a number of his victims liars who should not be believed, and who calls the #metoo movement "hysteria"), is now backing down from his own account and says he "may have misunderstood" what Weinstein said.

“After 41 years as a Spectator columnist without a single retraction, I believe that I may have misrepresented Harvey Weinstein’s conversation with me. It was my mistake,” reads a statement from Theodoracopulos.

Theodoracopulos has offered no explanation for why he put Weinstein’s alleged words in quotes, if it was merely his own representation of what Weinstein meant and not a direct quote at all.

-For anyone who knows of VPR but hasnt watched last season, Lisa decided to give the Toms their own bar since they are such amazing people. The Toms have partnered with Vanderpump to capitalize off of their popularity and create the new go to place in LA.

-Both Toms put in 50k to get a 5percent share in the bar.

-Allegedly Jax will be working at TomTom instead of SUR for the shows upcoming 7th season.

-Dorinda Medley, Reza Farahan, Mercedes "MJ Javid, Jenni Pulos, Teddi Mellencamp, and Sophie Stanbury, Blac Chyna, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, and more stars were all in attendance for the opening.

Were you worried that Jodie Foster had a revelation that abusive, anti-semitic racists shouldn't be forgiven? Don't worry-- she still supports her dear friend, Mel Gibson.

She gave an interview in which she said:

“I love him, and when you have a friend who you love, you support them through their struggles."

“[He has had] a lot of struggles, and he has to live with the consequences of his actions, and he would say the same thing.” (OP note: HA ha ha ha haha as if!)

She's not like other actresses who played girlfriends and wives "for a career's sake:"

“I was never interested in a career for a career’s sake. I just wanted to tell the stories I find interesting and I wasn’t very good playing the girlfriend, so, nope, I never did that. I just worked when I found something that moved me."

She's not like those other girls!
