Guillermo del Toro's Antlers Casts Keri Russell; Plot Details Revealed
-"Collider Video has confirmed that Keri Russell is in talks to star in the supernatural horror thriller Antlers, which Guillermo del Toro is producing for Fox Searchlight. Russell will play a teacher who takes an interest in a mysterious and withdrawn student who is harboring a deadly secret that is key to their town's survival. But what, exactly, is that secret?"

In the last weekend of June 2018 Netflix added stand-up comic Hannah Gadsby's "Nanette" to its programming. At the same time HBO was airing a new Bill Maher stand-up "Live from Oklahoma". Both examine current topics like #metoo, Bill Clinton, gender recognition, sexuality....[etc] but approach it from vastly different places. Gadsby's special shifts from comedy to storytelling, attempting to educate and break the set up/punchline binary and explores the past role of white straight men in comedy (and their place in the future). Maher's special praises Matt Damon for understanding the nuance between molestation and a pat on the bum, dismisses transgender bathroom bills as ways to do a penis check and blames gender inclusive as many reasons why the democrats lost the 2016 election.

40+ Celebs Defend Asia Argento from Bullying Over Death of Anthony Bourdain
More than 40 celebrities who have been victims of sexual assault and harassment, including Mira Sorvino, Terry Crews, Anthony Rapp and Rose McGowan, have signed an open letter to the Los Angeles Times defending Asia Argento from online bullying by those blaming her for the death by suicide of her boyfriend Anthony Bourdain last month and accusing her of using her claims of sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein to further her career.
The letter reads in part:
...One of the most vocal and unwavering figures in the #MeToo movement has been Asia Argento. At the center of our community, Asia has stood, her fist in the air, fighting daily not just for justice for those of us she has come to know, but for abused people the world over.
Asia has now found herself on the receiving end of vicious cyberbullying and repulsive slander at the hands of internet trolls who hold her responsible for Anthony’s death. She has been accused of everything from causing her boyfriend’s suicide to trying to use her “survivor status” and the #MeToo movement to advance her career.
There has long been a traditional narrative of blaming, vilifying and martyring courageous women. We reject that narrative...
Our request for Asia is a request for any and all survivors. Our standing up for her is standing up to any and all bullies. We implore you to be kind to each other, to believe survivors, to stand up for survivors, to encourage, support and sympathize with them.
We ask you to stand with us, as we stand with Asia.

A 'Downton Abbey' Movie is Coming
Three years after they left the TV airwaves, the Crawley family of Downton Abbey are getting their own feature film.
Series creator Julian Fellowes wrote the screenplay and Brian Percival, who directed the pilot of the TV series, will direct. It is expected to be released some time in 2019.

Listen: Charli XCX's newly curated "future of pop" Spotify playlist
Earlier this year, a contributing journalist to i-D Magazine proclaimed that Charli XCX was "sounding more and more like the future of pop." Since releasing her 'Vroom Vroom' EP in 2016, where she collaborated with PC Music queen SOPHIE, XCX's sound has veered further and further left of center. On her December 'Pop 2' mixtape, she offered what Pitchfork's Meaghan Garvey called "the sound of an eclectic, hyperreal future where romantic love is fun but fucked and partying is an emotional refuge."
In 2018, XCX has thus far released a trio of singles that one could easily imagine on the Summer 2062 mixtape of Judy Jetson: "5 in the Morning," a "muscular trap" anthem, and the effervescent double A-side 'Focus / No Angel.'One can hardly wait to hear what she'll churn out next, but in the meantime she's put together a Spotify playlist of songs that she feels are indicative of the "motherf***ing future" of pop.
The 34-track playlist features songs by several of XCX's past collaborators (CupcakKe, Sky Ferreira) and a range of household and lesser-known names. Slated to be updated monthly, XCX is encouraging fans to send her suggestions via Twitter for possible future inclusion.

Harvey Weinstein: Yes, I Offered Actresses Jobs In Exchange For Sex - But So Does Everyone Else
For the first time, Harvey Weinstein has just admitted that he offered to cast actresses in his films if they would have sex with him.
“Yes, I did offer them acting jobs in exchange for sex. But so did and still does everyone.”
“I was born poor, ugly, Jewish and had to fight all my life to get somewhere....no girl looked at me until I made it big in Hollywood.”
In the interview with The Spectator, Weinstein (with his lawyer sitting beside him) continues to deny that he ever sexually assaulted any of the women who have accused him.
He also attacked the credibility of two of his accusers: Rose McGowan and Asia Argento, claiming that they were both caught lying. And he says that McGowan once claimed that her friend Argento had an open relationship with Anthony Bourdain, who died by suicide last month.
