Keira Knightley challenges the patriarchy and flirts up a storm — with both sexes — in the first trailer for Wash Westmoreland’s indie biopic “Colette” about the early-20th-century French novelist best known in the U.S. for the novella “Gigi.”

The cast also includes Dominic West, Eleanor Tomlinson, Elaine Gough and Fiona Shaw. Bleecker Street is planning a September 21 release.

Logan director James Mangold warns that fandom backlash will push talent out of genre films.

-Mangold says that the backlash from these genre films (Star Wars, MCU & DCU) franchises are going to hamper any A-List talent from joining these properties.
-" Loving something is fine and good, but when it turns into trolling and harassment it does real material harm to the people involved in creating those things."
-And Mangold is right: people will leave. And people most vulnerable to this sort of treatment, women, and people of color and marginalized folk of all sorts, are going to be the ones who are driven out most quickly and easily."

Ariana's interview with Elle Magazine is out. A few key quotes below.

On politics: “Not everyone is going to agree with you, but that doesn’t mean I’m just going to shut up and sing my songs. I’m also going to be a human being who cares about other human beings; to be an ally and use my privilege to help educate people. Instead of unfriending people on Facebook who share different political views, comment! Have a conversation! Try to spread the fucking light.”

On the Manchester attack: “You hear about these things, you see it on the news, you tweet the hashtag. It’s happened before, and it’ll happen again. It makes you sad, you think about it for a little, and then people move on. But experiencing something like that firsthand, you think of everything differently… Everything is different.”


On Nicki Minaj: “That’s a ride-or-die situation. She is the best there is, male or female.”

On anxiety:“When I got home from tour, I had really wild dizzy spells, this feeling like I couldn’t breathe. I would be in a good mood, fine and happy, and they would hit me out of nowhere. I’ve always had anxiety, but it had never been physical before. There were a couple of months straight where I felt so upside down.”

Nicole Maines (Royal Pains, The Trans List) to star in "feminist" vampire horror movie

Nicole Maines, 20, was the student in the 2014 Doe v. Clenchy case that set a precedent for trans people to use the toilet of their choice.

Maines has been studying at the University of Maine but plans to leave school to star in the indie horror film Bit. The film follows a trans teenager, Laurel (Maines), who is "trying to fit in with and understand a group of intersectional feminist vampires in LA."

Previous television appearances include Royal Pains, the HBO documentary The Trans List (alongside Laverne Cox, Caitlyn Jenner, and others), and Not Your Skin.

New 'Walking Dead' Showrunner on Her Love for Daryl Dixon

Angela Kang takes over as showrunner on AMC's The Walking Dead for the upcoming ninth season amid falling ratings and a massive cast shakeup.

Carl (Chandler Riggs), long thought to be the future of the show, was killed off in the middle of season 8. Leading lady Lauren Cohen, who plays Maggie, will only appear in a handful of episodes next season before leaving for her midseason ABC show Whiskey Cavalier, after a salary dispute with AMC. And Andrew Lincoln, who has played lead character Rick Grimes since the pilot, will also depart some time in season 9 after saying that the death of Rick's son Carl "did feel, to me personally, not just the end of a chapter but a book, really."

Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon, long considered a fan favorite, will take over as lead and is reported to be receiving $20 million a season to do it.

In an article titled "‘The Walking Dead’ Showrunner Angela Kang Loves Daryl Dixon Just as Much as You Do", The Wrap reports on the love Kang (a longtime TWD writer) has for Dixon.

She says she loves Daryl because "He’s not the person you would expect to be a hero.” Despite his “rough exterior,” Kang cites his “code of honor” and “incredibly big heart.”

“There is a hopefulness to that. That somebody can come from such a rough start in life can thrive in hard conditions.”

Kang says Reedus gives an acting performance in the coming season that “breaks my heart, in the most wonderful way.”

A man spent more than $169,000 in Demi Moore's name

  • Back in March, a man named David Matthew Read stole Demi Moore's American Express card and allegedly spent over $169,000 in her name.
  • Read was caught thanks to surveillance camera footage. He remains in jail as of now.
  • Demi has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

Papa John's John Schnatter resigns after racist remark

After being exposed for using a racist slurs at a May conference call, John Schnatter turned in his resignation on Wednesday night as Chairman of the Board of Papa John's.

The company said Olivia Kirtley will step in as Lead Independent Director for the firm until the board appoints a new chairman in the coming weeks.

Luann de Lesseps: “Not drinking is exhausting."

Luann de Lesseps (of the Real Housewives franchise) recently marked six months sober.

She says that staying sober after returning home from rehab was challenging because "slipping back into old surroundings presented a few obstacles, including being around people who drink."

For her, drinking is a "habit" she has to unlearn. Going out to eat in restaurants is “the hardest thing" because that's where she would usually drink.

She doesn’t consider herself an alcoholic, though, and isn’t sure how long she’ll stay sober: “I’m taking it day by day."

To keep up with her sobriety, de Lesseps practices yoga and meditation.

Will Sandra Oh become the first Asian nominated for an Emmy for best lead actress in a drama?

* While Asians have been nominated (and won) at the Emmys for best supporting actress, an Asian woman has never been nominated for best lead actress in a drama, which isn't surprising because there aren't a lot of lead roles for Asian women out there to begin with. Sandra Oh, who has earned a lot of critical acclaim as Eve Polastri on Killing Eve - and who should have totally won an Emmy for Christina Yang, amirite - could be the first.

* A couple of Emmy watchers are also predicting that both Oh AND Jodie Comer could get nominated for best lead actress, which would be the first time since 2002 that a show has had two nominees in that category. There was some spec that BBC America might try to commit category fraud by submitted Comer as supporting, but that's not happening. The last show to produce two best lead actress nominees was Six Feet Under (Frances Conroy and Rachel Griffiths).

Actor Bumperlick Crumpetback and director Ava Duvernay have been named 2018's "Most Beautiful Vegans" by PETA.

PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said the pair are "saving animals not only by going vegan, but also by sharing their commitment with the world. The vegan powerhouses behind Selma and Doctor Strange beautifully show what it means to be a compassionate star in 2018."

Past winners have included Jared Leto, Jessica Chastain, Liam Hemsworth, Jenna Dewan, Natalie Portman, Carrie Underwood and Russell Brand.
