CULTURAL EVENT OF THE YEAR DOUBLES LADY GAGA MUPPET THING IN RATINGS

Garth Brooks concert tops Friday, doubles Gaga

Garth Brooks has been playing to sold-out crowds for last four years in Las Vegas. On Friday, the country legend proved he can still draw an impressive national TV audience too.
CBS’ two-hour telecast of Garth Brooks, Live From Las Vegas delivered 8.7 million viewers and a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49. That’s double the viewers and adult demo rating of a certain other music artist’s prime-time special this week — Lady Gaga’s romp with the Muppets, which aired on Thursday. Brooks easily had the highest-rated and most-watched show among the broadcasters last night. Competition was soft, to be sure, but for a music special on a Friday night during a holiday weekend this is a good number.
The concert marked Brooks’ final show of his one-man residency on The Strip. The country artist previously retired from performing in 2001 to spend more time with his family.

Justin Bieber Debuts New Tattoo

The tattoos just keep on coming for Justin Bieber. The 19-year-old pop superstar, who is in Australia for his Believe World Tour, got an eagle on his already heavily tattooed left arm.

Following his performance in Sydney, the Canadian crooner jetted to the tattoo shop, tweeting "just got off stage bout to get tatted."

In the first snapshot, the Canadian crooner appears tired following his show, as he gazes straight into the camera with a dazed look. Bieber is shirtless, showing off his spectacular toned abs, while sporting low-cut light jeans and white boxers.

"Fresh new tat," Bieber captioned another pic, while flaunting his arm and posing for the photographer.

Bieber appears more alert and is wearing a baseball cap for this snapshot, but it still isn't clear where the new tat is located.

We finally get a clear glimpse of the ink, in a pic along with the simple message "eagle."

Luke Bryan photographed drinking while driving

Country music superstar Luke Bryan -- the guy behind the hit "That's My Kind Of Night" -- slammed a beer WHILE driving his truck back in July ... but cops say he did NOTHING wrong.

The incident went down on Luke's private ranch in Tennessee -- Luke can be seen chugging a can of Busch ... the brew that's "as smooth as it's name."

But according to the Knoxville Police Department, Luke was within his legal right -- 'cause in TN, it's perfectly OK to booze while operating a motor vehicle AS LONG as it's on private property.

So, while it might not be the safest thing to do -- it definitely ain't illegal.

Still, kids -- don't drink and drive.

LeAnn Rimes says her husband Eddie Cibrian is great at buying her gifts and has never disappointed her.

LeAnn Rimes says Eddie Cibrian is great at buying her gifts.

The 31-year-old 'Spitfire' singer isn't worried about what her actor husband of four years, 40, is getting her for Christmas because 'The Best Man Holiday' star has never disappointed her.

The blonde star told People.com: ''He just asked me, 'What do you want? Don't you have an idea?' He's such a guy, but I really don't have an idea ... I'm more into the giving than I am in the getting.''

She added: ''I used to not at all like surprises, but now I kind of enjoy it, especially because he seems to always get it right. He's definitely a guy's guy but he's got something else in there in him that definitely can choose a gift.''

LeAnn also revealed that Eddie, who has two sons, Mason, 10, and Jake, six, with his ex-wife Brandi Glanville, has a secret passion for interior design.

She said: ''He's really good at decorating, too, which is crazy. He's going to kill me for saying that, but he really is.''

Darius Rucker performs with fan during a school talent show

starts at 3:10

Frankie Antonelli was interrupted halfway through his performance at Wando High School's talent show Wednesday night. But we don't think he minded.

The 16-year-old South Carolina native, who has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome, was midway through Darius Rucker's "While I Still Got The Time," when the country singer himself walked out on stage.

The moment was caught on video (above).

Antonelli's mother Debbie is a woman's basketball analyst who sometimes appears on ESPN, and she tweeted the video of her son's performance, along with a photograph of him with Rucker.

She added that her son is proof that a disability can't stop someone from following his or her dreams.

Rucker, a South Carolina native, was just as thrilled about the duet:

“[Frankie is] happy, he’s healthy, he’s funny, he’s athletic... he is sweet and he is handsome,” Debbie Antonelli told the Post and Courier after the performance. “He just happens to have Down Syndrome. It doesn’t define who he is. He is uninhibited and he loves to perform.”

A George Takei/Fragrance post to lift your spirits

Kim Kardashian has six, Mariah Carey has four, Britney Spears has 11 and now Star Trek's own George Takei has got one too.

That's right -- geek icon and social media superstar George Takei joins the growing ranks of celebrities who have their own signature fragrances with the launch of his new cologne, "Eau My."

A play on his Star Trek character Sulu's signature catchphrase -- "Oh my!" -- the unisex fragrance is described as "subtle and charming, with top notes of mandarin zest, Italian bergamot and fresh ozone transitioning to night-blooming jasmine, white freesia petals and grated ginger."

"Set phasers to stunning!" reads the product's description on Amazon.com. "Sensual woods, crystalized amber, soft skin musk, and vetiver will delight you when dry."

Takei announced the launch of his new cologne spray via Facebook, where he has been able to amass more than five million fans with his prolific, witty content and internet savvy.

"Friends, my new fragrance is out and available for pre-order," he posted Sunday evening. "Can you guess the name? No spoilers in the comments!"
Fans jumped at the occasion to flex their wit.

"Old Space?" guessed Corey Krantz. Dana Alan Butler, wrote "Takei Wiff?"

"Well, I'm not sure of the name, but I'll bet it's a scent that doesn't fade after an hour, but Klingons you all day," wrote Jennifer Margaret Pauzuolis-Hoffman.

The product retails for $39.99. It's expected to start shipping Dec. 15 -- just in time for the Trekkies in your life to celebrate Christmas.

Despite the fact that nobody actually owns the cologne yet, Amazon reviewers have already been leaving their opinions of it on the product listing page.

"Finally we can all smell the way a respectable Starfleet Officer should, whether it be fighting against the Romulans, negotiating a peace treaty with the Klingon Empire or meeting the fate of your red-shirted counterparts," wrote Dimestone.

"Are you a run down, shell of a man or lady? Spritz some of uncle George's smelly spray on you and become a unicorn amongst mere wildebeests. I haven't even purchased it and yet I'm oozing the musk of manly men back from working the mines just thinking about it," wrote Big vato.

"The perfect accessory for my son-in-law. It will go perfectly with his Captain Kirk bathrobe or when he slips into a parallel universe where all Cybermen have been devolved into cufflinks that he wears to court when he wants to show just how invincible he is," wrote Tim Alm.

Reaction on Twitter has been a mixture of excitement and disbelief.

10 Ingeniously Tiny Clues To Big Plots

Steven Moffat has turned me into a wreck. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of his work, but maybe some day in the future, I’d like to watch an episode of his without analysing the use of eggs or Christmas lists. I’m on a self-imposed quest to find out more about Doctor Who before it happens than anyone else on the planet – failing that, Tumblr – and then maybe, just maybe, the BBC will make me the Thirteenth Doctor. On the basis of my non-linear knowledge, of course.

But sometimes, you watch episodes back from years ago, and you notice the most minuscule fragments of dialogue, and wonder whether the writers have planted that seed in the hope that one day, we’ll watch the episode back and shout, “Oh my god, I know what you’re on about!”

These clues I’m about to share with you… they can’t all be intentional. Can they? If they’re not, they’re just coincidences. Still, watch the episodes back again, and you’ll never look at these moments the same again.

10. The Doctor Finds His Jacket Again

Let’s start off with a simple example from ‘Flesh and Stone’ that you might recognise, and that everyone thought it was a continuity error.

So the Doctor’s being pursued by angry Weeping Angels, and in the melee of the drama, he’s had his lovely tweed jacket pinched by one of those pesky statues. Amy can’t open her eyes, so the Doctor tells her to trust him. And remember what he told her when she was a little girl – it’s never been more important. Only, when he recounts this speech to her, we can see beyond the extreme close-up, that he’s suddenly wearing his jacket again.

Of course, we now know that it was the Doctor from a different point in his time-stream. That’s why he had the jacket. And it’s a lovely piece of writing to pen a scene that’s appropriate for both episodes. But more importantly, it’s an incredible clue to leave fans, and one that started off MPS (Moffat Paranoia Syndrome) for many of us Whovians.

9. The Silence In Series 5

Prisoner Zero told us in ‘The Eleventh Hour’ that “Silence would fall”. The Silence bubbled under the surface of the series, mentioned again in ‘Vampires in Venice’, but never actually with an explanation of what they were; it was creepy foreshadowing… but what if it went all that much further?

There are countless theories on the internet of fans claiming they’ve seen the Silence in Series 5 – there are sightings of cloaked figures and reports of a reflection in ‘Amy’s Choice’, and then there are the numerous instances where the Doctor or Amy look lost or confused. The problem with memory-wiping monsters is that they could’ve been and gone, and we might not have seen them. The Silence could’ve had their own subplot within the series – visiting Barcelona for the dogs, comparing head shininess with the Ood, stealing Bessie and driving around the country sampling exotic cheeses and cooking raspberry pie – and we’d have never noticed.

There’s no denying that there are instances where we feel like we’ve skipped a scene. Someone will turn around a bit quickly and wonder where they are, or there’ll be something there in the corner of your eye. If that’s intentional, it only adds to the genius of the arc. If it’s not, it must be scarier to work on Doctor Who than one first imagined.

5. The Day Of The Doctor Clues

And while it’s fresh in our memories, let’s delve deeper into that fiftieth special.

Of course, Steven Moffat and Russell T Davies are still friends. Apparently they regularly email each other, which might suggest an awful lot of Davies’s era cropping up in ‘The Day of the Doctor’. Firstly, there’s the talk of “The Moment” which first appeared in ‘The End of Time’ – an episode in which the Doctor mentioned marrying Good Queen Bess – and then there’s the line from Dalek Caan, “And [he] decreed no more.” Then there’s the fall of Arcadia, which the Doctor claimed he may never come to terms with.

But perhaps most tellingly, is the line in ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ that he was “A man who never would.” The man who abhorred violence, never carried a gun, and offered to save Davros, of all people. Did Russell T Davies have any kind of plan for the Doctor to save Gallifrey one day? We might never know…

3. Jack Hosted Rose And The Doctor’s First Date

The first place the Doctor took Rose to was the the end of the world. Because to travel with him, she had to understand what he’d just lost, and what he was dealing with. That’s a beautiful idea in itself, but join a few more dots together, with the help of trusty old friend hindsight, and it’s really quite lovely what Russell T Davies did ‘The End of the World’.

If you’ve not seen the episode, there was a party watching the destruction of Earth. Races gathered from far a-field, including the last human in existence, and the ancient, telepathic Face of Boe. The Face was making his first of three appearances, and in this episode, he sponsored the party.

And knowing what we know now, he was to become good friends with both the Doctor and Rose. Well, he was good friends with them when he was Jack Harkness. Russell T Davies had the fantastic foresight to link Jack and the Face of Boe, so would it be a stretch too far to link this too?

1. Regenerations

‘The Day of the Doctor’ has been and gone, and now, we look to ‘The Time of the Doctor’, with tissues at the ready. But how could Matt Smith possibly die? Well, let’s look at the clues of previous regenerations.

The First Doctor was famously the grandfather, the old man, and he died of old age. The Second Doctor was a meddling clown who met his end after he interfered with history too much, and he needed to call in someone a little more serious. The Third Doctor was an action hero who died protecting UNIT, and the Fourth was an unpredictable alien, murdered by the Master, a fellow unpredictable alien. The Fifth Doctor assembled teams of companions, and died for one; the Sixth was a melodramatic egotist who died from a knock to the head from someone nearly as over-the-top as him. And the Seventh Doctor, the manipulator, died when a human Doctor interfered with his wounds.

We now know that the Eighth Doctor, that hopeful, romantic, almost Messiah-like presence of the TV movie, died because he couldn’t accept a young girl’s death, and was resurrected in a cave. The Ninth Doctor died saving a companion who had nursed him back to himself, and helped him not commit the same atrocity he defined himself by. The Tenth Doctor was an old man who would do anything for his friends. He died saving a fellow old man, and went on to go and help each of them before he went. Even the War Doctor – the Doctor who chose to be the Doctor “no more” – died when there was need for a Doctor again.

That’s not television, it’s poetry, and I don’t know about you, but I’ll be in floods of tears if Eleven says he doesn’t like endings.

I don't think even Lindsay has looked this... dead.

Kelly Rowland and Lorde attend The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! Countdown to Music's Biggest Night in Los Angeles, California.

From the article...

5. Lorde -- a four-time nominee -- waited patiently for her turn to address the press. An entourage surrounded her, but the singer/songwriter kept her cool, sporting fab dark lipstick, as she watchedEnglish singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran finish his talk with journalists. When asked to sum up her year, the songstress said, “I don’t know how I can sum up the year. It’s been insane, but it’s probably out there with some of the best years of my life.”

It looks like this CDAN blind was pretty obviously her.

Why yes that was this up and coming singer who didn't get nominated for the award everyone she would who was so messed up on Oxycodone that she could barely even function. I'm shocked she managed to make it to the stage.

(missing word in there, not my fault. Lorde did not get Best New Artist, which everyone thought was a lock)

Nine Inch Nails will tour North America in 2014 with new lineup + 2013 concert film + Reddit AMA!

Trent Reznor is a man who likes to give to his fans. Yesterday, he not only released a 77-minute concert film from Nine Inch Nails’ “Tension 2013″ tour, but also participated in a Reddit AMA.

Perhaps most noteworthy was the confirmation of a 2014 North American tour featuring a newly configured lineup. For the forthcoming leg, Reznor will be joined by Ilan Rubin, Alessandro Cortini, and Robin Finck. Josh Eustis, Pino Palladino, and Lisa Fischer, who all toured with NIN on the “Tension 2013″ tour, no longer appeared to be associated with the outfit.

Reznor said of the band’s touring cycle and upcoming plans:

“Here are some thoughts on touring. When we commit to a touring cycle, it usually is at least a year long, and can start to feel stale after X amount of time. What I’m doing this cycle is making each leg of the tour have its own identity. The festival run we did over the summer was very different from the Tension tour we just finished. We’re currently rehearsing with a new incarnation of the band for what’s ahead. This keeps things fresh from a musician’s perspective, but also keeps things interesting for fans in an era where every show ends up on YouTube. The setlist and presentation moving forward will be very different from what we just did. That’s part of the incentive behind releasing the Tension footage now. That was one very specific look at Nine Inch Nails in the Fall of 2013, that I wanted the whole world to be able to see (just like you can see the festival footage on YouTube, which was its own thing). Yes, we are planning to return to North America in 2014…”

Reznor also addressed the chances of a Fragile reissue in 2014 (“It’s possible”), whether he’ll ever release a concert film centered around their “Wave Goodbye” tour (“We have the footage and I’m sure some day we’ll choose to release it, when the time is right”), and refuted claims that he has a project in the works with Ministry’s Al Jourgensen (“You know as much as I do, I haven’t heard from Al in years”).

Lastly, Reznor discussed the impending launching of Beats Music, the streaming music service he’s involved in, and whether it’ll appease Thom Yorke and other musicians who have been critical of similiar services. ”

“I’ve spent the last 2+ years (along with Rob Sheridan) designing this platform and genuinely look forward to presenting it to the world. Our goal was to create something we would genuinely be excited to use ourselves that focuses on the joy of discovering great music, ease of use, and was built from the ground up as something that becomes an asset to the musician as well. There’s much you’ll hear me say on this in the near future.”

Just as I imagined it. Who plans on seeing them (again) in 2014?

There are pop stars, and then there is Demi Lovato. In just this year alone, the multi-hyphenate released her fourth album (the double platinum Demi) a new book, and a nail art collaboration with The New Black--all in addition to her current gig as a judge on Fox's music competition The X-Factor, where she regularly spurs on Simon Cowell and injects a welcome dose of energy into the TV show. Oh, and did we mention that the singer-actress, who got her start on Barney, is just 21 years old? So it's only fitting that the music powerhouse cap off her truly epic year by gracing the December/January issue of NYLON.

Inside the issue, which officially hits newsstands tomorrow, the teal-haired mogul fills writer Kate Williams in on her troubled past and how her well-publicized private struggles have shaped her long list of accomplishments today. Despite her jam-packed schedule and overflowing ambition, it's refreshing to see that the Texas native remains just as grounded and honest as ever. You'll have to wait until Tuesday to buy the issue on newsstands--but in the meantime, check out our sneak peek, including exclusive only-see-them-here photos, below!

On Multitasking:
"I look at my life and think, 'There's not enough time.' I co-directed my last two videos, and I have this dream of being behind the camera and one day directing my own movie. I want to host my own show and be a younger Oprah. I want to write songs for other artists. I want to be an author. I want my own makeup line, and my own skincare line. I want to do a lot more philanthropy work, and for a while there I thought I wanted to go to law school."

On Staying Honest With Fans:
"When I went into rehab, I deleted my Twitter...I didn't want to force anything. My parents came to visit, and I asked if people knew yet, and they said, 'Yeah, it's everywhere.' And they were like, 'How do you want to handle this? We can say it's a personal time and we don't have to tell them what you're in here for, or we can just be 100 percent honest and show them that you can get through it and other people can get through it, too.'"

On Finding Her Own Look:
"When I was on the Disney Channel, I wanted to get my nose pierced in the middle, so that I could flip it up during filming, and flip it down at night to let the wild child side come out. Turns out, I didn't need the nose ring."

Peter Capaldi: I'm too young to play the Doctor

(MOFFAT TRIGGER WARNING)

Peter Capaldi has said that despite being one of the older actors to take on the lead role in Doctor Who, he's still too young for the part.

The Thick Of It star is due to take over the role on Christmas Day, when Matt Smith's Time Lord will regenerate into him.

But Peter, 55, said he didn't think the Doctor would get too much of a shock at changing from looking like Matt, 31.

Doctor Who writer and producer Steven Moffat said: "The Doctor's thousands of years old, they've never been able to find an actor old enough to play him."

Peter agreed: "I'm 1,995 years too young to play him, really. So I think he's going to be quite happy to look his age."

Peter said he would be watching his first episode for the first time on Christmas Day along with the rest of the show's fans.

Asked if he was looking forward to the fans' reactions to his take on the Doctor, he said: "I haven't seen it, so I'm looking forward to my reaction. My family are all coming over to watch Matt Smith turning into me which will be interesting."

Peter said he was a fan of all the Doctor's previous incarnations: "All of them, I love them all, they're brilliant. They are just one, they're all of those actors and they're all a delight, I think they're all fabulous. I'm lucky to have them in my DNA because I've watched it from the year dot, so they're great."

Okay I know the trailer has no info but shaking and crying for this game, if it's as good as Walking Dead I will die. Do you think it will use new characters for the lead roles? I'm guessing a mix of old and new.
