-The shows behind the scenes drama is really horrible. The original director Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles/Upcoming Avatar 2 + Terminator films) left the project after being ousted from TNT.
-Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) originally directed the pilot which was greenlit to a full 10 episode series order.
-Orphan Black creator Graeme Manson is now the new show runner for the show which is set to be filmed August-December in Vancouver, Canada with Alison Wright (The Americans), Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Annalise Basso, Susan Park, Mickey Sumner, Hiro Kanagawa, Lena Hall, & etc.
-“They consulted me on everything from how to find queer writers without asking ppl what their sexual orientation is to who the best MENA actors are,” she wrote on Twitter. “And if their final ensemble cast was inclusive enough and on top of it they insisted I direct a couple of episodes. You know how many guys there are in Hollywood who believe inclusion is this important and who know that you shouldn’t just take advantage of a WOC consulting you without hiring her? I know two. Both aren’t doing ‘Snowpiercer’ anymore. Hollywood sucks.” (Lexi Alexander who was set to direct some episodes of the show before the whole switch around.)-For some reason, she deleted her tweets but these are all the tweets about the issue:
"I want to cry about this, seriously. Not only was @Josh_Friedman’s script unbelievably good and Scott ended up choosing to direct it because of that over the many movies he was offered…here are two white men who were so set on making this an inclusive show, they consulted me on everything from how to find queer writers without asking ppl what their sexual orientation is to who the best MENA actors are and if their final ensemble cast was inclusive enough and on top of it they insisted I direct a couple of episodes. Someone please leak @scottderrickson’s pilot. I was never allowed to see it, but those who had seen it raved like mad about it. It’s a shame the audience doesn’t get to see it."-Josh's original script was said to be highly inclusive/diverse of all races & ethnicities.
-Got outed for not picking up the plot & speeding up the plot & narrative.
-Director Lexi Alexander (Punisher War Zone) was set to direct before the show runner switch. Both Lexi and Scott side with Josh's original vision, & Lexi stated that Josh tried very hard to be inclusive with cast/crew behind and in front of the screen.
-"If you're asked to rewrite someone or take over their show it seems like good sense and good karma to reach out to that person first and a) find out what the circumstances of their departure are and b) thank them for doing the work you'll be profiting from."
-"You should buy that person a nice meal or a bottle of alcohol if they're up for it. Your money was earmarked for them at one time. And more than likely, what may be a good job for you was a passion project for them," he added. "Put another way: if you were to take over a show I'd originated and worked on for two years and didn't reach out to me before taking the job you're either an idiot, a coward, or a vichy motherfucker."-Jennifer will play the voice (Melanie) of the Snowpiercer train & her character is from the upper class but curious about the lower/working class part of the train.
--“It’s not following the movie exactly,” Diggs told reporters after the panel. “There are a lot of parallels and it definitely exists in the same world. I play Layton, he lives in the tail so he’s one of the poor people.”
-Was looking forward to their reunion.
Same here, Alison!
