New to theaters everywhere this week are
Ant-Man and the Wasp and
The First Purge, the most recent installments in each of their respective franchises. But if you are looking to watch a movie that isn't a sequel or prequel to another movie, I have some brand new indie flicks for your consideration.

Storyline: An in-depth look at the life and music of Whitney Houston.
What you should know: According to IMDB, many of the interviews filmed for the documentary were left out, as the director found them banal and uninteresting.

Storyline: Portrait of Ryuichi Sakamoto, from pop icon of Japan's technological aspirations to leading activist post-Fukushima, returning to music after cancer for major opus that may be his last.
What you should know: Sakamoto has composed soundtracks for movies from
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence to
The Revenant.

Plot: Welcome to the world of the Sunset Society, a secret organization in Hollywood where parties are held, musicians gather and blood flows freely! Ace (Lemmy from "Motorhead") is the head vampire in charge who likes to keep the fun going while keeping the profile low. However, due to a few rebels in his midst, humans are starting to catch on to his vampire ways.
