Dolce and Gabbana co-founder calls Selena Gomez ‘so ugly’ for no reason

0
0

Stefano Gabbana, 55, responded to a collage of Gomez, 25, posted by Instagram account @TheCatWalkItalia, saying “É proprio brutta!!!” which translates to “She’s so ugly!!!”

Gomez has not responded, but Tommy Dorfman (an actor on 13 Reasons Why, for which Gomez is a producer) said, “@stefanogabbana you’re tired and over. your homophobic, misogynistic, body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018. it is no longer tolerable or chic. please take many seats.”

Gabbana is no stranger to controversial statements. The designer and his business partner Domenico Dolce, both of whom are openly gay, previously said: “We oppose gay adoptions" and "You are born to a mother and a father - or at least that's how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalog. The only family is the traditional one." (thanks nutella_forever for the correct quote; more context in the comment).

Why Sophia Bush Felt Pressured Into Marrying Chad Michael Murray

0
0

FLASHBACK :
They met on the set of One Tree Hill and wed in 2005, less than a year after getting engaged.
Five months after their wedding, they had split.
In early 2006, Bush filed for an annulment, citing fraud, but her request was denied.
She and Murray were granted a divorce that December.

Sophia Bush says she never really wanted to marry Chad Michael Murray:

"Everybody's been 22 and stupid. It was not a thing I actually really wanted to do. Because how do you let everybody down and how do you- what's the fight and when you have bosses telling you that you're the only person who gets a person to work on time and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don't because our days start on time."

"Life is always loaded. What the public knows ever is never- it’s not the tip of the iceberg. Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much fucking better than the drama that the writers write.' I get why you ask, but it’s like, people won’t let it go,”

Ariana Grande's friends are worried about recent engagement news

0

While Ariana and Pete are on cloud 9 it seems not everyone is exactly happy about their recent engagement. According to the source:
Ariana is easily excitable when she's in love and doesn't always think everything through.

They are both so passionate and swing back and forth from strong, loving moments to heated arguments. (yikes)

Both clinging to this relationship because it feels like "heaven" and has been described as "really intense".

Ariana feels she can relate to his pain, that Pete has an old soul, and that they have connected on many levels.

Well this sounds like a healthy relationship lol

Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

About: Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine’s father. After Mr Earnshaw’s death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine’s brother Hindley, and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights. Returning years later as a wealthy and polished man, he proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries.

The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature.

Invisible Man

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

About: Invisible Man is a milestone in American literature, a book that has continued to engage readers since its appearance in 1952. A first novel by an unknown writer, it remained on the bestseller list for sixteen weeks, won the National Book Award for fiction, and established Ralph Ellison as one of the key writers of the century. The nameless narrator of the novel describes growing up in a black community in the South, attending a Negro college from which he is expelled, moving to New York and becoming the chief spokesman of the Harlem branch of "the Brotherhood", and retreating amid violence and confusion to the basement lair of the Invisible Man he imagines himself to be.

Gone with the Wind

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

About: Gone with the Wind is a novel written by Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era. It depicts the struggles of young Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to claw her way out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea. A historical novel, the story is a Bildungsroman or coming-of-age story, with the title taken from a poem written by Ernest Dowson.

Gone with the Wind was popular with American readers from the onset and was the top American fiction bestseller in the year it was published and in 1937. As of 2014, a Harris poll found it to be the second favorite book of American readers, just behind the Bible. More than 30 million copies have been printed worldwide.

The Bell Jar

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

About: Sylvia Plath's shocking, realistic, and intensely emotional novel about a woman falling into the grip of insanity.

Esther Greenwood is brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful, but slowly going under—maybe for the last time. In her acclaimed and enduring masterwork, Sylvia Plath brilliantly draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that her insanity becomes palpably real, even rational—as accessible an experience as going to the movies. A deep penetration into the darkest and most harrowing corners of the human psyche, The Bell Jar is an extraordinary accomplishment and a haunting American classic.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer, Annie Barrows

About: Written with warmth and humor as a series of letters, this novel is a celebration of the written word in all its guises, and of finding connection in the most surprising ways.

“I wonder how the book got to Guernsey? Perhaps there is some sort of secret homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers.”

January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb….

As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends—and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society—born as a spur-of-the-moment alibi when its members were discovered breaking curfew by the Germans occupying their island—boasts a charming, funny, deeply human cast of characters, from pig farmers to phrenologists, literature lovers all.

Juliet begins a remarkable correspondence with the society’s members, learning about their island, their taste in books, and the impact the recent German occupation has had on their lives. Captivated by their stories, she sets sail for Guernsey, and what she finds will change her forever.

Farrah Abraham arrested

0
0

Farrah Abraham, former 'Teen Mom' star and adult entertainer, was arrested in Beverly Hills for arrested for misdemeanor battery and trespassing.

She allegedly struck and pushed a hotel security guard in the face and grabbed his ear. The guard was attempting to stop her from re-entering the hotel after a "verbal altercation" involving Abraham and other hotel guests. Sources say she appeared drunk and was trying to use her celeb status to get the other guests kicked out instead.

Abraham posted on Instagram yesterday about her meeting with Mark Cuban and Kate Neilson at the hotel.

There's video available at TMZ (thanks to bent_ley for posting in the comments).

Abraham's statement to E! included, "This was all blown out of proportion. I was a guest at the hotel and I did not touch anyone. I was targeted and that's why these men sold stories," while on Instagram live she said, "Hey guys, I just wanted to say thank you for all the well wishes and concern. It's sort of sad sometimes when you're out and you just can't have fun and people want to attack you and get you all in that trouble. I'm blessed by God and I don't ever want to be attacked again at a hotel."

ONTD Original: Songs You Love Because of 90's Movies

0
0

Some of these songs were already a hit on their own, but I tend to associate them with the following movies they were featured in. To limit the many options of iconic songs used throughout the 90's, this list of 10 items were songs made by bands. The movies also happen to come from the mid to late 90's.

This post was inspired by the good sis tres_francais with the Olsen twins' birthday post, where I was remembering how much I loved Passport to Paris!

10. Sixpence None the Richer - "Kiss Me"
🎥 She's All That (1999)

I just remembered how Freddie Prinze Jr. was THE teen heartthrob of the 90's *ugh yas godt*. "Kiss Me" appeared when miss Rachael Leigh Cook stepped out after her makeover for her big reveal, and is the movie's main song.

9. The La's - "There She Goes"
🎥 The Parent Trap (1998)

This song was featured when Hallie finally landed in London. The Parent Trap soundtrack featured a lot of covers, and coincidentally Sixpence None the Richer made a cover of "There She Goes" the year after.

8. The Verve - "Bittersweet Symphony"
🎥 Cruel Intentions (1999)

"Bittersweet Symphony" was used at the end credits of Cruel Intentions. The Verve split up during the height of their success when this song was breaking.

7. Stretch Princess - "Sugar"
🎥 Passport to Paris (1999)

The song that inspired this list, and was used during the montage of Mary Kate and Ashley with the French model trying on clothes at different stores.

6. Garbage - "#1 Crush"
🎥 Romeo + Juliet (1996)

This movie adaption was bizarre, but maybe it was tooaheadofitstimeforsomepeople.gif. This was my introduction to Garbage.

5. Wang Chung - "Dance Hall Days"
🎥 Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997)

An epic soundtrack and a lot of stand outs used for the movie. I chose "Dance Hall Days" cause Romy was gettin ha life and whippin that pony.

4. Mono - "Life In Mono"
🎥 Great Expectations (1998)

OP has not seen this movie adaption of Great Expectations. Don't know much about this band but this is a beautiful song and the band's most well known song.

3. General Public - "Tenderness"
🎥 Clueless (1995)

The Clueless soundtrack was pretty epic too. "We're Alright" by Supergrass could be considered the main song of the movie, but "Tenderness" gave us a schmaltzy happy ending and a wedding scene.

2. Rusted Root - "Send Me On My Way"
🎥 Matilda (1996)

Miss Matilda was giving the girls a good #read and serving (pancakes) for the gawds with this song used during the pancake making montage while she was home alone, as well as the ending when she was moving in with Miss Honey. Nostalgia overload!

1. Texas - "Put Your Arms Around Me"
🎥 Ever After (1998)

This song was featured at the very end and clashed with the 16th century feel of the movie. An ethereal bop.

HOOOOO HoooooOOOOOOOO
so put your AAAARMS around meeeEEEEe
You LET me believe that you are someone else

HOOO Hoooo HOO
Cause only tiiIIIime can take youuuuu
So let me believe
That I am somewhere eeeeeeeeeeeelse

Graham Norton says why Grindr is not as "socially acceptable" as Tinder for him & discusses politics

0
0

Sources: 1 | 2 | 3 (the Podcast)

  • In a podcast interview with Katie Couric, BBC TV presenter and host of The Graham Norton Show spoke of how he can't use Grindr because of his job.
  • He explains why: "I couldn’t do Grindr, because you know, of what it is, and I work for the BBC and I felt Tinder was socially acceptable. I could do Tinder, but no more."
  • Norton said that he'd rather live alone forever than ever live with someone who incorrectly folds towels. He thinks people live together because it makes economic sense and that no one truly wants to live with other people.
  • In a previous Guardian interview, Graham said he was better off living the life he has rather than "mourning" the one he doesn't have. Norton added there that no one wants to share a miserable life with someone else.
  • In the podcast interview with Couric, Graham expresses his opinion on politics such as Brexit ("You can vote Trump out. We've done Brexit -- Brexit is forever.") and Ireland's recent landslide vote on abortion.
