Paramore’s Hayley Williams Talks About Mental Health in Essay for PAPER

$

- In a short piece for Paper Magazine, Hayley talks about her anxiety in recent years and a bout of depression related to her ending an engagement to, and then later marrying and divorcing Chad Gilbert.

- Also how writing songs with band mate Taylor York for their 2017 album After Laughter and having Zac Farro back in the band helped her through her depression and get her “old laugh back.”

- “But writing kept me alive. Forced me to be honest. Made me have empathy for Taylor in his struggles with mental health. It helped me understand that emotional wellness and physical health are actually related. It helped me realize that I shouldn't have ever married my ex and that love is not something we can just extract from one other.”

Taika Waititi has spoken out about his latest film 'Jojo Rabbit,' a satire of Nazi Germany. In a statement, Waititi said "I'm stoked to begin shooting my anti-war satire. We've assembled an incredible cast and I couldn't be more excited to finally ridicule Nazis and their beliefs. This film is going to piss off a lot of racists and that makes me very happy."

Newcomer Roman Griffin Davis has been cast in the titular role of a young German boy who discovers that a Jewish girl is living in his attic. Thomasin McKenzie, a breakout New Zealand actress who earned rave reviews out of Sundance for her role in 'Leave No Trace,' rounds out the main cast as the girl. They join the previously announced cast of Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson and Waititi himself.

Waititi will also be working with 'The Master' cinematographer Mihai Malaimare Jr., 'Thor: Ragnarok' production designer Ra Vincent and costume designer Mayes Rubeo, and 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' editor Tom Eagles.

The movie is being produced by Fox Searchlight, fresh off their Best Picture win with 'The Shape of Water,' and has begun filming in Prague.

I'm so morbidly curious to see how this turns out, but I have enough faith in Taika that it won't be the mess that it seems.

Michelle Visage: Shangela Not Winning Was A Mistake

Michelle Visage gave a video interview that says what we all think:

“The biggest surprise to me and the rest of the world was Shangela not winning RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 3. And that wasn’t up to me, that wasn’t up to RuPaul, that was up to the girls, because Ru gave the queens that were eliminated the chance to vote for the final two, who they believe deserved to be in the finals. And they chose not to put Shangela in there. It was a mistake, but I believe they did it because of a personal relationship instead of watching how she did in the competition.”

“That’s the only one that really affected me. I 100 percent agree with RuPaul on everything. We share a brain, so honestly I can tell by looking at him. We know we’re on the same page. So I’ve never disagreed with anything he’s ever done in an elimination.”

In a now-deleted tweet, Trixie responded to Michelle: “I was Team Michelle on Big Brother. So we are both disappointed lol.”

I'm still not over the injustice.

Sesame Street loses Happytime Murders lawsuit

The people behind Sesame Street had filed a lawsuit against STX over the upcoming R-rated Muppet movie "The Happytime Murders" over the tagline referencing Sesame Street ("No Sesame. All Street."). A U.S. district judge ruled that "Sesame Workshop hadn't demonstrated that moviegoers were confused or that sponsors or parents were complaining."

STX wrote the following in response:

""We fluffing love Sesame Street and we're obviously very pleased that the ruling reinforced what STX's intention was from the very beginning, to honor the heritage of The Jim Henson Company's previous award-winning creations while drawing a clear distinction between any Muppets or Sesame Street characters and the new world Brian Henson and team created. We believe we accomplished that with the very straightforward no sesame, all street tagline. We look forward to continued happytimes as we prepare to release Happytime Murders this summer.""

Nicole Kidman Opens About the Miscarriages She Suffered With Tom Cruise

  • Nicole has never talked at length about the miscarriages she suffered while married to Tom Cruise. The last she hinted at it was in a 2007 interview with Marie Claire when she said the first miscarriage was extremely traumatic for them and led them to adopt daughter Isabella. She suffered her second miscarriage in 2001 after Tom filed for divorce.

  • A decade later, Nicole opens up to Tatler magazine about that trauma, talking about the "massive grief" she felt after miscarrying due to an ectopic pregnancy at 23, shortly after she and Tom had married. An ectopic pregnancy is when the embryo begins developing in the fallopian tube rather than in the womb.

  • She says of the miscarriage: "There’s a huge, aching yearning. I know the yearning. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough. That’s massive grief to women."

  • In her 2007 interview, she had previously said "From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic...I was a baby when I married Tom, I don’t regret any of it, but out of respect for Keith, I tend not to discuss any of that now.”

  • Tom has never commented publicly about the trauma.

6 Underrated Boyband Songs for #FlashbackFriday (ONTD Original)

ONTD Original - 6 Underrated Boyband Songs

This generation currently has an abundance of boybands more than ever, even when people are considering M*gos in this category. Some particular bandmates have been accused of heinous crimes in recent times so we'll have to skip out on mentioning that certain band. But lettuce not forget the other acts that have been established/around for a while.
Here's a lil flashback Friday to 6 underrated singles and album cuts from boybands that OP routinely plays.

6. New Kids on the Block - "Single"

I truly can't recall a classic NKOTB tune besides the "step by step, ooOOoh baby" line, so I was really introduced to them with "Single" which was written by Ne-Yo in his golden era. This was an excellent comeback song because it gave 90's r&b FEELS, and I personally prefer it over Ne-Yo's solo version off his Year of the Gentleman album.

5. Jodeci - "Every Moment"

Another comeback single from the legendary boyband Jodeci, they picked right where they left off in "Every Moment" with their classic bass-y harmonies, rich melodies, and K-Ci runs. They did their original sound justice after a 20 year hiatus.
Honorable mention: "I'm Still Waiting"

4. NSYNC - "Do Your Thing"

This is a more recent discovery via independent pop icon LIZ who wrote with JC Chasez for her song "Do I Like U", which has a similar vibe to the album track "Do Your Thing" off of Celebrity.

3. BIGBANG - "Ego"

"Ego" is on their rerelase of the Alive album and I was 100% here for it and for them up until this era. I prefer this Japanese version bc the rhymes flowed better, but it's still a simple and underrated gem.

2. Blackstreet - "Think About You"

"Think About You" sonically reminds me of their remix version of Janet's "I Get Lonely". This Teddy Riley production is reminiscent of the popular late 90's r&b sound that was happening at the time a la other Timbaland songs and SftP's "My Love is the Shhh", another freaknasty bop.

1. Shai - "Waiting For the Day"

This pure and innocent album cut about abstinence has the definitive new jack swing sound of the early 90's. The beat makes ya wanna dance and the airy synths just makes ya nostalgic about a time you didn't even live in.

10 (3) best and 5 (2) worst series finales

$
0
0
After you follow a tv show for years the ending of it can make it or break it, the tv show could have been good but if the finale isn't at par in quality with the rest of it you are probably going to hate all the time wasted on that show I'm talking to you LOST

On this list you'll find 3 of the best series finales and 2 of the worst, from very well liked finales like Six Feet Under to "what the hell were they thinking" finales (How I met Your Mother). Considering this list is about finales it has tons of spoilers.

Best:

1. Six Feet Under (HBO)

The near-perfect finale flashed forward to the deaths of all the main characters — predictable, tragic or absurd. Every series finale that’s used the flash-forward technique owes a great debt to this show.

6. The Sopranos (HBO)

Some fans didn't like the open-ended finale of the mobster drama, which didn't reveal whether Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) lived or died, but his life was too nebulous to be resolved so cleanly.

10. The Americans (FX)

The Soviet spy series ended last wednesday. The episode, which found Philip and Elizabeth returning to the Soviet Union (without their children) after the FBI discovered their true identities, was perfectly suited to the series.

Worst:

1. How I Met Your Mother (CBS)

The final episode finally introduced Ted to the mother of his future children and then, in a series of flash-forwards, killed her off , so Ted ends up with Robin after she divorces Barney. The show proved many times Ted and Robin weren't suited for each other and the entire last season was about Robin and Barney's wedding so that finale was a punch to the face to the fans because it didn't make any sense (also the mother was very likeable)

3. Lost (ABC)

The first 3/4 seasons of the drama were great but it seems they put mystery after mystery to make the show more interesting and at the end they didn't know how to wrap it up, creating a very controversial finale that some people love and a lot of people hate.
