William H. Macy: I Want My Daughters to Have 'Healthy, Wonderful Sex with No Guilt'

0
0

You can count William H. Macy out of the legions of fathers who think it's the height of being a good Dad to claim that they'll protect their daughters' virginity at all costs (the old "My baby girl will never date!" BS).

The father of 17-year-old Sofia and 16-year-old Georgia with his wife of 18 years, Felicity Huffman, Macy says:

“You know, I started doing all the cliches, ‘I’m gonna threaten the guys, I’m gonna dig a moat around our house.’ And then I thought, ‘OK, what do you really want for your daughters?’ And I realized: I want them to be happy and lusty and safe."

“I want them to have a lot of sex in their lifetime! Good, healthy wonderful sex with no guilt. That’s what I really want.”

Macy says that "boys are in the picture" and it sounds like he and Huffman are pretty lenient on the issue: “They’re different than when I was a kid. Georgia and Sofia have all their pals over. It’s pretty bizarre, especially with Sofia, to wake up in the morning and there’s some boy walking out of your daughter’s room! They all sleep together! I don’t think they have sex, well, I know they don’t.”

Yesterday Irish voters had a referendum to repeal the 8th amendment, which says the rights of the pregnant women and the foetus are equal, meaning Ireland has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the western world. Abortion is illegal also in the cases of rape, foetal deformity and risk to the mother's health.

It became clear last night the YES to repeal side had won in a landslide, with most reports saying 68 percent of voters have decided to effectively legalise abortion. Celebrities react:

Marian Keyes, author

Graham Linehan, comedy writer

David O'Doherty, comedian

Aisling Bea, comedian

Blindboy of the Rubberbandits, comedian/writer

Charmed reboot star responds to criticism of the new show

Elisabeth Moss to star in Shirley Jackson biopic

0
0

- Shirley Jackson (1916-1965) was the American author of such horror classics as 'The Haunting of Hill House', 'We Have Always Lived in the Castle', and the short story 'The Lottery'

- Elisabeth Moss will play Jackson and Michael Stuhlbarg will play her husband, literary critic Stanley Edgar Hyman

- The movie will be a psychological thriller and be directed by Josephine Decker

- Even though Jackson was more successful and earned more than her husband, he controlled her finances absolutely and cheated on her constantly w/ his university students. She raised their 4 children with little to no help from him at home, planning her stories while doing housework and only writing when the children were asleep. To the world she presented an image of the 'perfect housewife' with a happy and boisterous family, even writing two humourous 'domestic memoirs'.

- Jackson was prescribed amphetamines and barbiturates by her doctor, which aggravated her depression and anxiety. She developed agoraphobia and became a recluse in her later years. She died in her early 40s of a heart attack.

From the producers of The Twilight Saga: Annasophia Robb (of the cancelled-too-soon Carrie Diaries) plays a teenage rebel charged with arson who is sent away to Blackwood Boarding School. Once she gets there, all of the students' cell phones are taken away, and suspicious/scary things start to happen. Uma Thurman stars as the strict headmistress. Based on the Lois Duncan novel.

In Beach House (not to be confused with the band OR the Hallmark Channel film 'The Beach House'), Willa Fitzgerald (of the very-in-limbo Scream TV series) gets a little too close to her mother's old fling while they are away at a beach house. She soon realizes he can't be trusted and that maybe they don't know everything about him.

Official trailer: 'Damsel' + critic reviews

0

Synopsis
It’s the age of The Wild West, circa 1870. An affluent pioneer, Samuel Alabaster (Robert Pattinson) ventures deep into the American wilderness to reunite with and marry the love of his life, Penelope (Mia Wasikowska). For his journey, he brings Butterscotch, a miniature horse intended as a wedding present for his bride, and enlists drunkard Parson Henry (David Zellner) to conduct the ceremony. As they traverse the lawless frontier their once simple journey grows treacherous, and the lines between hero, villain, and damsel are blurred. A loving reinvention of the western genre from the Zellner brothers (Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter), DAMSEL showcases their trademark unpredictability, off-kilter sense of humor, and unique brand of humanism.
