According to director Andy Serkis, Mowgli is an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book that retains more of the story's darkness. It follows Mowgli (Rohan Chand), a child raised in the jungle, as he is torn between his home and the human world.

The film also stars Christian Bale (Bagheera, panther), Cate Blanchett (Kaa, snake), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan, tiger), Naomie Harris (Nisha, the wolf who adopts baby Mowgli as one of her cubs), Eddie Marsan (Vihaan, Nisha’s mate), Peter Mullan (Akela, leader of the wolf pack), Andy Serkis (Baloo, bear), Jack Reynor (Wolf, Mowgli’s Brother), and Tom Hollander (Tabaqui, hyena).

It comes to theaters October 19, 2018.

In this interview, Serkis talks about:

  • What makes this adaptation darker than the cartoon version
  • Including elements of Indian culture in the film
  • What it’s like doing motion capture for non-bipedal animals
  • Balancing performance and effects
  • Working with Rohan Chand

Cynthia Nixon Misses Clinton Endorsement As She Supports Andrew Cuomo Instead

$

– Hillary Clinton's spokesman confirmed to The New York Timesthat she will be endorsing Andrew Cuomo in the upcoming race for New York governor. Cuomo worked for Bill Clinton's administration during the 90's and has been governor for eight years, and also no one likes him.
– Some people are shocked (where? where are they?) that Clinton would support Cuomo over Nixon, while others cite that Cuomo's more centrist policies are closer to hers than Nixon's progressive ones, and that NY is her own turf, causing her to make a rare endorsement in time for midterms. Others speculate Bill has been even more invisible the last several months because of his comeuppance in the era of #MeToo.
– Cynthia Nixon recently received an endorsement from Bernie Sanders-inspired Our Revolution group, citing the Sanders campaign as one of her inspirations for entering the race for Governor. While this might signal a relitigation of 2016 again, it begs the larger question that caused it in the first place: whether or not the Democratic Party as a whole is going to grow and support candidates like Cynthia, or make them fight uphill every step of the way against ones like Cuomo. (so far it's been the latter)

ONTD, what's going on with local Democratic and progressive candidates where you live? Midterms post.

Get those library holds ready! Here are 15 upcoming June book releases from a variety of genres. Hopefully at least one will pique your interest! All books were chosen from the Top 200 Most Popular Books for June 2018 on Goodreads. To help me narrow down to 15, I excluded any books from a series, unless it was the first book. I also focused on books that have a current high rating (I believe every book listed is rated over 3.5), and tried to avoid books that I've previously put in book posts. Almost all of the authors are women.

Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan--from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he's making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...
