It's been a while since we've had an update on the upcoming
Witcher series for Netflix, so let's catch up on the latest news! First up, the showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich posted a picture of the writers room because writing for the first season is officially underway!
A writers room for a fantasy series that is not dominated by white dudes? CAN IT BE?????
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago at a Netflix event in Rome, some info about the show was released. If you want, you can sort through the thread Lauren Hissrich posted about it or you can just read my bullet points summarizing the thread. Or you can do none of the above and comment on the post anyway because ONTD doesn't read.
The thread begins here:
My summary:
- Season 1 will be eight episodes long.
- It will be coming to Netflix circa 2020. Maybe sooner, depending on how fast production and stuff happens.
- The series will be filmed in Central Europe to keep with the source material's inspiration and feel.
- In the replies, Lauren is cagey about whether season 1 will be drawn from The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny.
source 1source 2So talk about the developments below! Speculate about what the first season will cover! Maybe indulge in some fancasting for Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri etc etc.
(Also not sure what to tag this as since obviously we don't have a tag for the show yet so um... I did my best?)
