Sonam Kapoor Confirms Wedding + More Indian Cinema Gossip/News

Indian actress, Sonam Kapoor, confirmed that she is going to get married to her boyfriend, Anand Ahuja, next week. The wedding is set for May 8, 2018.

Their official wedding card:




- Sonam told Harper's Bride Bazaar magazine that she will wear three dresses for the occasion, and they each be designed by Abu Jani - Sandeep Khosla, Anamika Khanna, and Anuradha Vakil.
- Her cousin, Janhvi Kapoor, is set to dance at the wedding, and she will reportedly perform two songs from the films of her late mother, Sridevi. The songs are Mere Haathon Mein (Chandni) and Na Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai (Chaalbaaz). Varun Dhawan and Karan Johar will dance to Swag Se Swagat, judging from the rehearsal video that was posted on social media.






- Sonam Kapoor will attend Cannes as an ambassador for L'Oreal India. She is set to walk the red carpet on May 14th and 15th.
- Deepika Padukone will attend her second year at Cannes and arrives as an ambassador for L'Oreal India. She hits the red carpet on May 10th and 11th.
- Aishwarya Rai is a regular at Cannes and is also one of the ambassadors for L'Oreal India. She will walk the red carpet on May 12th and 13th.
- Kangana Ranaut will attend the Cannes Film Festival for the first time. She walks on May 10th.
- Pakistani actress (and the best part of Raees tbh), Mahira Khan, will also be making her Cannes debut and is an ambassador for L'Oreal Pakistan.
- Nandita Das, Divya Dutta, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will attend to represent their film, Manto.







The late legendary Indian actress, Sridevi, was given a posthumous National Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film, Mom (2017). Sridevi passed away in February, and her husband and two daughters took the award for her.

Her eldest daughter, Janhvi, wore a sari from her collection at the ceremony.

-Faleena Hopkins has trademarked the word 'cocky' for her book series instead of just trademarking her series.

-Multiple authors have used the word 'cocky' in their titles but this 'writer' is trying to shut everybody down.

-She's sending out Cease and Desist letters to any author who has the word in their title, demanding that they change their title or she will seek legal action.

-The romance community is NOT having any of this. They're retaliating and plan to fight this.

  • First look trailer for Tanya Saracho's new series, Vida, which airs tomorrow night (May 6) on Starz (where episodes are usually up on starz.com 24 hours early!)

  • Stars Mishel Prada and Melissa Barrera as two estranged sisters from East L.A. who face their past together after their mother dies

  • Interview with Saracho underscore the representation in front of and behind the camera that helped build a cultural authenticity



  • Calls the half-hour series "fresh," coming from a perspective that isn't often represented in television

  • Gentrification, sexual identity, and the Latino experience in Los Angeles are front and center




  • Despite other series exploring gentrification, Vida covers new ground; the topic is part of the premise of the series and built into the characters

  • Characters are thoughtfully portrayed; Emma (Mishel Prada) is a closeted lesbian and the responsible sibling who comes home from Chicago while Lyn (Melissa Barrera) is the less grounded sibling who settled in San Francisco

  • The series isn't preachy and the writers and directors are careful to tell nuanced stories.  It has a "strong sense of self" despite only being six episodes long.




  • Calls Vida "really good television" and highlights the diversity it brings to television

  • The series rejects stereotypes and instead dives into subject matter not often portrayed on screen

She gave the following speech:

Rosie O'Donnell Has Been Illegally Over-Donating to Democratic Political Candidates

The New York Post (which just happens to be owned by conservative media mogul and Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch - OP) has published a report which states that they tracked the campaign donations of outspoken Trump critic Rosie O'Donnell and found that she has broken the law on multiple occasions.

Individuals are not allowed to donate more than $2,700 to any one political candidate. The Post found that O'Donnell exceeded that limit with five separate Democratic Congressional candidates around the country, including a $4,700 contribution to Alabama Sen. Doug Jones in his special election against Roy Moore. She used five different New York addresses and four variations of her name to make her donations.

Contacted for comment, O'Donnell sent the Post an email in which she said “Nothing nefarious. I was not choosing to over donate. If 2700 is the cut off — [candidates] should refund the money. I don’t look to see who I can donate most to … I just donate assuming they do not accept what is over the limit.” She added that her brother handles her money.

“My anxiety is quelled by donating to those opposing trump [and] his agenda — especially at night — when most of these were placed.”

- When Allen, was asked about the rumour, she said, “I mean, I haven’t said one thing [to suggest that]. I literally have never said anything.
“Nine years ago, they first tried to print this story, and I didn’t say anything then. And now Nicole Appleton, bless her, she’s reacted to it. So that’s made it seem real. Now my Twitter feed is: ‘Oh, stupid attention seeker, she just wants another minute in the limelight.’ But I literally haven’t said anything. I haven’t even liked a tweet. Nothing.”
-Allen is about to publish an autobiography and it was reported she would discuss this incident, as well as, her rebellious childhood, miscarriage, separation and her moving forward in life.
