Follow up to this post.

As you know I Colton Haynes split from his husband after 6 months of marriage which is a lot in gay years.

I He wanted to come clean so I he uploaded a song to youtube. But now the song is making rounds because my three Teen Wolf fans people have noticed the lyrics reveal Jeff Leatham was cheating on me Colton.

Here are the lyrics of my future Grammy winning song"Man It Sucks (Acoustic)":

“I don’t like when you’re staying out all night and never answer your phone, I follow you around the world just to be left alone, and man, it sucks,”
“I said I loved you despite the cheating drama. … Maybe in the future, you’ll come around.”

And here's the video I had to upload to my channel cause Vevo rejected me:

Britta Lundin has released Ship It a book that dives into the fandom experiences of fanfiction and conventions #relatable

For fandom olds / believers in a fourth wall the book summary is enough to give one pause and evoke Kill Bill sirens.

The summary:
Claire is a sixteen-year-old fangirl obsessed with the show Demon Heart. Forest is an actor on Demon Heart who dreams of bigger roles. When the two meet at a local Comic-Con panel, it's a dream come true for Claire. Until the Q&A, that is, when Forest laughs off Claire's assertion that his character is gay. Claire is devastated. After all, every last word of her super-popular fanfic revolves around the romance between Forest's character and his male frenemy. She can't believe her hero turned out to be a closed-minded jerk. Forest is mostly confused that anyone would think his character is gay. Because he's not. Definitely not.

Unfortunately for Demon Heart, when the video of the disastrous Q&A goes viral, the producers have a PR nightmare on their hands. In order to help bolster their image within the LGBTQ+ community-as well as with their fans-they hire Claire to join the cast for the rest of their publicity tour. What ensues is a series of colourful Comic-Con clashes between the fans and the show that lead Forest to question his assumptions about sexuality and help Claire come out of her shell. But how far will Claire go to make her ship canon? To what lengths will Forest go to stop her and protect his career? And will Claire ever get the guts to make a move on Tess, the very cute, extremely cool fanartist she keeps running into?

Spoilers: My favorite review for comparison the Den of Geek review is a positive one.

Most would classify Claire's actions throughout the book as boundary breaching. What separates 5-star, 3-star and 1-star goodreads reviewers seems to be how offensive they find such boundary breaching that is epidemic in contemporary fandom.

Have you read the book? Did you like it? Is it possible it was improved after sending out advanced copies?

THE MARS ROOM

It’s 2003 and Romy Hall is at the start of two consecutive life sentences at Stanville Women’s Correctional Facility, deep in California’s Central Valley. Outside is the world from which she has been severed: the San Francisco of her youth and her young son, Jackson. Inside is a new reality: thousands of women hustling for the bare essentials needed to survive; the bluffing and pageantry and casual acts of violence by guards and prisoners alike; and the deadpan absurdities of institutional living, which Kushner evokes with great humor and precision.

AWAYLAND

Acclaimed for the grace, wit, and magic of her novels, Ramona Ausubel introduces us to a geography both fantastic and familiar in eleven new stories, some of them previously published in The New Yorker and The Paris Review. Elegantly structured, these stories span the globe and beyond, from small-town America and sunny Caribbean islands to the Arctic Ocean and the very gates of Heaven itself. And though some of the stories are steeped in mythology, they remain grounded in universal experiences: loss of identity, leaving home, parenthood, joy, and longing.

Crisscrossing the pages of Awayland are travelers and expats, shadows and ghosts. A girl watches as her homesick mother slowly dissolves into literal mist. The mayor of a small Midwestern town offers a strange prize, for stranger reasons, to the parents of any baby born on Lenin's birthday. A chef bound for Mars begins an even more treacherous journey much closer to home. And a lonely heart searches for love online--never mind that he's a Cyclops.

WRESTLING WITH THE DEVIL: A Prison Memoir

Wrestling with the Devil, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o’s powerful prison memoir, begins literally half an hour before his release on December 12, 1978. In one extended flashback he recalls the night, a year earlier, when armed police pulled him from his home and jailed him in Kenya’s Kamĩtĩ Maximum Security Prison, one of the largest in Africa. There, he lives in a prison block with eighteen other political prisoners, quarantined from the general prison population.

In a conscious effort to fight back the humiliation and the intended degradation of the spirit, Ngũgĩ—the world-renowned author of Weep Not, Child; Petals of Blood; and Wizard of the Crow—decides to write a novel on toilet paper, the only paper to which he has access, a book that will become his classic, Devil on the Cross.

Written in the early 1980s and never before published in America, Wrestling with the Devil is Ngũgĩ’s account of the drama and the challenges of writing the novel under twenty-four-hour surveillance. He captures not only the excruciating pain that comes from being cut off from his wife and children, but also the spirit of defiance that defines hope. Ultimately, Wrestling with the Devil is a testimony to the power of imagination to help humans break free of confinement, which is truly the story of all art.

THE BEEKEEPER: Rescuing the Stolen Women of Iraq

The true story of a beekeeper who risks his life to rescue enslaved women from Daesh

Since 2014, Daesh (ISIS) has been brutalizing the Yazidi people of northern Iraq: sowing destruction, killing those who won’t convert to Islam, and enslaving young girls and women.

The Beekeeper, by the acclaimed poet and journalist Dunya Mikhail, tells the harrowing stories of several women who managed to escape the clutches of Daesh. Mikhail extensively interviews these women—who’ve lost their families and loved ones, who’ve been sexually abused, psychologically tortured, and forced to manufacture chemical weapons—and as their tales unfold, an unlikely hero emerges: a beekeeper, who uses his knowledge of the local terrain, along with a wide network of transporters, helpers, and former cigarette smugglers, to bring these women, one by one, through the war-torn landscapes of Iraq, Syria, and Turkey, back into safety.

In the face of inhuman suffering, this powerful work of nonfiction offers a counterpoint to Daesh’s genocidal extremism: hope, as ordinary people risk their own lives to save those of others.

THE SPACE BARONS: Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and the Quest to Colonize the Cosmos

The Space Barons is the story of a group of billionaire entrepreneurs who are pouring their fortunes into the epic resurrection of the American space program. Nearly a half-century after Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, these Space Barons-most notably Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, along with Richard Branson and Paul Allen-are using Silicon Valley-style innovation to dramatically lower the cost of space travel, and send humans even further than NASA has gone. These entrepreneurs have founded some of the biggest brands in the world-Amazon, Microsoft, Virgin, Tesla, PayPal-and upended industry after industry. Now they are pursuing the biggest disruption of all: space.

Based on years of reporting and exclusive interviews with all four billionaires, this authoritative account is a dramatic tale of risk and high adventure, the birth of a new Space Age, fueled by some of the world's richest men as they struggle to end governments' monopoly on the cosmos. The Space Barons is also a story of rivalry-hard-charging startups warring with established contractors, and the personal clashes of the leaders of this new space movement, particularly Musk and Bezos, as they aim for the moon and Mars and beyond.

K-pop Legend Park Jin Young (JYP) Accused of Being In A Cult

$
0
0

* JYP (a producer/label owner/musician) has been accused by Dispatch, the TMZ of South Korea (but with a better investigative journalism team and not entirely focused on celeb news, so maybe more like WaPo...) of being a member of the Salvation Sect, a well known cult.
* Dispatch sent some of their reporters undercover to attend a March 2018 bible study that was being held by JYP. JYP had claimed in 2010 of being interested in learning about religion, but recanted on this 2014 saying he was an atheist.
* JYP's bible study was held in the building of the Salvation Sect, with the attendees being Salvation Sect members. Other attendees included Bae Yong-joon, this old nigga who did kdramas back in the day.
* Dispatch claimed the rhetoric JYP used in his bible study is the same rhetoric used by the Salvation Sect:
Kwon_Shin_Chan_Park_Jin_Young_Comparison
(I've never seen a passage that said that Jewish ppl flew to Israel on a plane. I'll let y'all know if I see that next time I open the bible tho)
* JYP has personal relationships with the Salvation Sect. JYP's wife is the niece of Yoo Byung-eon, former Salvation Sect leader, and the two had a good relationship.
* Yoo spent 4 years in prison in the mid 1990s due to a mass suicide that occured in 1987. 32 people were found dead, bound and gagged.
* Yoo also owned the Sewol ferry. 2014 the ferry sunk with the junior class of Danwon High School on board. 476 people were on board and 304 people died; most of them high schoolers. Yoo went on the road to avoid sentencing (he ws facing life in prison for his role in the Sewol ferry incident) but was found dead in a ditch about a month later.
* Ppl called for JYP to be investigated for the Sewol ferry incident too, but he managed to escape this.
* JYP has denied any involvement in the Salvation Sect (as did Yonsama but no one cares about him), but Dispatch came thru with receipts and doubled down on their claims.
* Supporters of JYP claimed that Dispatch used the news of JYP's bible study to deflect from an accounting scandal at Samsung. Dispatch told them to shut the fuck up; Samsung is shady and so is JYP, if y'all had enough brain cells y'all could focus on both. Ironically, YG (another Korean producer/label owner and JYP's friend) used the news of JYP's cult to bury the news that he crushed the dreams of idols he used as dancing monkeys on a reality show.
* JYP maintains the claims aren't true, and invited the media out to his next bible study in September. This was mistranslated as JYP holding a press conference in September; honestly neither makes him look good.
* The Salvation Sect has also denied JYP's involvement as a sect leader.

Here's the JYP whisper for y'all too.

ONTD ORIGINAL: A look back at our favorite The-N shows!

$

For young millennials, The-N was THE channel we all grew up watching. It broadcasted all of the teen shows that related to our adolescent struggles. The-N understood who we really were inside. Nostalgia is all the rage these days, so here's a list of teen shows that dominated our Friday nights in the early-mid 2000s!

Instant Star (2004-2008)

16-year-old Jude Harrison wins an American Idol-esque talent competition called "Instant Star". The show follows her life as she evolves into a bonafide rockstar, falls in love with bad boy ex-boyband member and producer, Tommy Quincy (b.k.a. Lil Tommy Q) , and tries to balance her normal teenaged life and her newfound fame. It was canceled after 4 seasons due to lack of funding from the channel (and I will never forgive them for that rushed ending). The show features a teenaged Tatiana Masley in its final season and has some of the best soundtracks of all TV shows EVER. Even the Backstreet Boys covered one of the songs on their album "Unbreakable" [Japanese edition].

Backstreet Boys cover

South of Nowhere (2005-2008)

A religious family of 5 moves from Ohio to California. The series focuses on the high school drama of siblings Spencer, Clay and Glen, as well as their parents and the difficulties of moving from a small conservative town to glamorous and liberal South California. Similar to Degrassi: The Next Generation, South of Nowhere was praised for dealing with controversial issues affecting teens such as addiction, sexuality and teen pregnancies.

Queen Bees (2008)

Super shit quality of the girls' intro:

The main reason why Instant Star was canceled was because The-N wanted to pour funding into reality T.V. shows. Enter Queen Bees, a show about rich girls with nasty attitudes who tried to become better people through various character-building challenges. It featured Stassi Schroeder of Vanderpump Rules fame and gave us some great gifs, courtesy of queen Shavon.

Beyond the Break (2006-2009)

Four female surfers navigate life in Hawaii while realizing their dreams to become the best pro surfers in the world. The show features a pre-Japanese potato'd Olivia Munn and Kim Kardashian's original face!

Miracle's Boys (2004-2005)

Based on the novel by Jacqueline Woodson, Pooch Hall's fine ass stars as the oldest brother of three, struggling to raise his younger siblings in pre-gentrified Harlem after their parents die. It only lasted a season but I remember it being a decent show. Any excuse to look at Pooch Hall is great tbh.

Radio Free Roscoe (2003-2006)

A group of high school students create a pirate radio station and hide behind fake identities to keep their radio personalities a secret. High school shenanigans and love triangles happen.

Girls vs. Boys (2003-2007)

A teenaged version of The Challenge: Road Rules v. Real World, except the teams were separated by gender. The teens were made to live together in a house and compete in physical challenges. In the end, whichever team had the most points split a check amongst themselves. Each season was held at a different location and featured a different cast. Lauren Collins and Jake Epstein (Paige and Craig from Degrassi: The Next Generation) joined the teams in season 2. This show has damn near been scrubbed from the Internet.

AND OF COURSE, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE MOTHER OF ALL TEEN SHOWS!

Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001-2015)

Easily the most iconic show for teenaged Millennials, Degrassi: The Next Generation dealt with every issue you can possibly imagine (puberty, racism, homophobia, school shootings, teen pregnancies, rape, etc.). The show featured a couple of actors who have blown up beyond the Canadian borders!

Drake (Jimmy Brooks)

Nina Dobrev (Mia Jones aka Mamma Mia)

Shenae Grimes (Darcy Edwards)

Craig Manning (Jake Epstein)

Other forgotten The-N shows: The Best Years, About A Girl, Whistler, O'Grady, The Assistants (featuring a young Michael B. Jordan).
