  • Guillermo del Toro's passion project is now going to be co-financed by CBS Films and Entertainment One. del Toro's recent Oscar win is likely helping the movie finally get off the ground.
  • The big screen adaptation is based on the first volume in Alvin Schwartz's trilogy of horror-themed children's books, which started with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark in 1981.
  • André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) is attached to direct. del Toro will write and produce.
  • The book series was at one point released with new artwork, which replaced the iconic illustrations of the original editions. This sparked disapproval from fans of the books. However, the original art was restored in a new box set released last year.

Claude Kelly Looks Back on Bionic

0
0

Notable producer Claude Kelly, responsible for your faves' iconic hits including "Circus" by Britney Spears, "Kissin U" by Miranda Cosgrove, and "Grenade" by Bruno Mars, was reminiscing about Bionic after a fan mentioned "Prima Donna" yesterday. Other Bionic productions to his credit include "Woohoo", "Desnudate", "Glam", and the cult drag staple "Vanity".

We're just days away from Xtina's next album era Liberation - her first album since the unjustified Bionic Massacre in 2010. Even producers, like Kelly, were close to second guessing their contribution to the experimental body of work that was ahead of its time in which critics panned.

He was also responsible for the blueprint for Ariana Grande's song "Focus""Show Me How You Burlesque" and "Express", which he also tweeted about:

ONTD do you think "Woohoo", the bop even haters can't resist, would've worked as the lead single?

‘The Green Hornet’: S. Rogen Remembers Cage’s ‘Insensitive’ Idea to Play A ‘White Jamaican' Villain

0
0

“The Green Hornet” was released in January 2011
Prior to Christoph Waltz joining the cast in the villain role, Nicolas Cage was being courted by Sony.

Sony wanted a star aka Nicolas Cage to play the villain.
Cage wanted to play the character as, like, a white Bahamian or Jamaican.
Rogen thought this idea seemed insensitive.
At the dinner to discuss this role with Amy Pascal, Cage was doing a Bahamian accent, then no one felt casting Cage was appropriate.
The movie bombed at the box office.
Rogen wondered if casting Cage and letting him do his crazy thing would’ve been better for the movie.

Episode IX Roundup: "Legends" Throwbacks, Possible Time Skip?

0
0

The first one is described as "captivating naturalness and ease to her manner," and calls her a"leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly."

There's also another character who is being called "Mara". Yes, like Legends Mara.

Also; John Boyega hints at a time skip between Last Jedi and IX;

"I can't wait to start shooting the next and final leg of the franchise. The first step is growing out my hair, so you can wait for the trailer to see why," he explained.

Most likely as a smooth way to write General Leia out of the franchise.

'Walking Dead' Star Pollyanna McIntosh Unveils Directorial Debut 'Darlin'

0
0

The Walking Dead's Pollyanna McIntosh has announced her directorial debut 'Darlin'; the film is a sequel to the horror film 'The Woman' which she starred in.

The film's official summary reads “Found at a Catholic hospital filthy and ferocious, feral teenager Darlin’ is whisked off to a care home run by The Bishop and his obedient nuns, where she’s to be rehabilitated into a “good girl” as an example of the miraculous work of the church. But Darlin’ holds a secret darker than the “sins” she is threatened with, and she is not traveling alone. The Woman who raised her, equally fierce and feral, is ever present in the shadows of Darlin’s psyche and is determined to come for her no matter who tries to get in her way.”

"I’m thrilled to present Darlin’ at a time when audiences are showing their love for entertaining, visceral social issue horror and are hungry for female voices," said McIntosh. "With Darlin’ I was blessed with a talented cast and crew, including our female leads, DP, location scout and editor, who all came to the project with such passion. It will be an honor to show their hard work, which made the movie the feast it is, and to introduce the enormous talent of young star Lauryn Canny to new audiences."

Kanye took to twitter last week and shook the world. Amongst his many tweets he told his followers: “Pick someone that you had an argument with that you think you hate maybe even someone you haven’t spoken to in years and contact that person and tell them I love you,”. West also posted his album cover due in June “This is plastic surgeon Jan Adams. The person who performed my mom’s final surgery.” Adams gave Donda West liposuction, a tummy tuck and a breast reduction in November 2007, but she died the following day, after reporting pain and tightness in her chest. A coroner found “no evidence of a surgical or anesthetic misadventure,” and said “the final manner of death could not be determined.

In apart of Ye's healing process he is open to meeting the surgeon. Adams wrote and open letter thanking Ye for the honor of making him his album cover but respectfully declined his image being used. Adams stated the situation: “It’s a Macguffen.”

Tiffany tries to make the best of things, but she doesn’t fit into her new luxurious, but super-strict, home—or get along with her standoffish sister London. The only thing that makes her new life even remotely bearable is the strange boy across the street. Marcus McKinney has had his own experiences with death, and the unexpected friendship that blossoms between them is the only thing that makes her feel grounded.

But Tiffany has a secret. Another man claims he’s Tiffany’s real dad—and she only has seven days before he shows up to demand a paternity test and the truth comes out. Tradition by Brendan Kiely
Available Format: Kindle; Print; Audio
Prestigious. Powerful. Privileged. This is Fullbrook Academy, an elite prep school where history looms in the leafy branches over its brick walkways. But some traditions upheld in its hallowed halls are profoundly dangerous.

Jules Devereux just wants to keep her head down, avoid distractions, and get into the right college, so she can leave Fullbrook and its old-boy social codes behind. She wants freedom, but ex-boyfriends and ex-best friends are determined to keep her in place.

Jamie Baxter feels like an imposter at Fullbrook, but the hockey scholarship that got him in has given him a chance to escape his past and fulfill the dreams of his parents and coaches, whose mantra rings in his ears: Don’t disappoint us.

When Jamie and Jules meet, they recognize in each other a similar instinct for survival, but at a school where girls in the student handbook are rated by their looks, athletes stack hockey pucks in dorm room windows like notches on a bedpost, and school-sponsored dances push first year girls out into the night with senior boys, the stakes for safe sex, real love, and true friendship couldn’t be higher.

As Jules and Jamie’s lives intertwine, and the pressures to play by the rules and remain silent about the school’s secrets intensify, they see Fullbrook for what it really is. That tradition, a word Fullbrook hides behind, can be ugly, even violent. Ultimately, Jules and Jamie are faced with the difficult question: can they stand together against classmates—and an institution—who believe they can do no wrong?

MAJOR SPOILERS (Infinity War): The Problem With a Certain Female Character's Storyline

0
0
The following article contains major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War. Read with caution.

The CBR article points out a few noteworthy problems with Gamora's storyline in Infinity War.

Gamora has been fridged
When a female character gets killed off as a plot device, normally for the development of a male character (see: Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight). 'Fridging' is a term coined by Gail Simon in 1999, which references a specific Green Lantern storyline.

• CBR acknowledges the argument on Thanos' efforts to kill Vision as proof that 'gender' isn't relevant to who he kills. He is just doing what he feels he must for his quest to obtain the Stones.

"The key difference is that Vision’s second death doesn’t benefit Thanos’ character in the way that his slaying of Gamora does. Where Vision’s death confirms the Titan’s monstrosity, Gamora’s death serves to humanize him."

• Gamora ends a three-movie arc with a death that cheapens her purpose.

Another problem is when two tropes laced with patriarchal standards clash; the idea that women need to become vulnerable and lose our sympathy in order for men to be viewed as empathetic and gain our sympathy.

The article notes very interesting points and reads as open and merely observant, rather than bitter and preachy, which is a refreshing tone. Worth the click.

Tristan was happy to gloat about the win and posted a pic of himself on social media with the hashtag On to the next one.
