Happy Alien Day 2018, ONTD!

What is Alien Day?
Alien Day is celebrated on April 26th as an official event organized by 20th Century Fox. It started in 2016 and it's celebrated with special releases, announcements, competitions, and even the original films are shown in some theaters around the world. Why April 26th? It's referencing the moon on which Aliens is set: LV-426.

IN RELEASES
Comics & Books:

A terrifying coming of age story by writer and artist Gabriel Hardman. Some of the films he storybaorded include Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Logan, and Dawn of Planet of the Apes.

The Cold Forge, by author Alex White, adds to the Alien mythology as it continues after Hadley's Hope colony on LV-426, which was depicted in Aliens. Interview with the author at the source.

Music:
La La Land Records has released a limited edition of Alien 3 score.

  • Apparently he wasn't the first choice. And Fox was surprised when he said that he loved the script.

  • He storyboarded the whole film as negotiations took place over the course of a month.

  • He got the budget doubled from 4.2 million to 8.6 million.

  • Cool backstory that involves John Carpenter - he and Dan O’Bannon came up with an early version of Alien in what they called Star Beast. They parted ways and Carpenter told O'Bannon to keep the idea. 20th Century Fox was looking for a new project as its Dune project with Alejandro Jodorowsky was having issues in pre-production. O'Bannon gave them the script for Star Beast and the rest is history.

  • Article ponders how Alien got to the point of having its own "holiday" - going into the contradiction of the xenomorph, sexuality and birthing, the great direction by Ridley Scott, and the simple fact that Alien came out at just the right time in cinema.

What does OP, only LIZ stan residing on ONTD, think of it?


It's cute and I like that she's more imaginative with the lyrics... but like with WIRTW, I'm not 100% on it. I don't care for drops in music. I see others who at least KNOW of LIZ think WIRTW is her only bop and gravitates towards it cause they're #fake music fans. It's always the songs I like the least that will catch on. #JUSTICEforQUEENofMeAndCouldULoveMe





I'm definitely looking forward to the next song in the coming weeks, and hopefully a visual.

-Judy went to Coachella, got prepared by getting an IV with vitamins to make sure she was ready to party in the desert
-Anthony not into Coachella, not here for the porta potties or the hot, sweaty, smelly people when you can go to an air conditioned venue with seats and relax and drink a little
-has seen Beyonce several times, saw her at MSG in the Beyhive section and got to hold her hand when she sang Halo
-Judy loved the performance, Beyonce is a super hero and she said Beyonce loved her because she said "I love each and every one of you."



-his father had a rule when his sons turned 13 they either had to get a job , go to school or get out of his house so every summer he went to work for his dad who had his own roofing company. The first summer he went his dad had on the "$7 dollar ninja shoes" and he had on Nikes because they're Nikes. They told him not to wear them but he did so anyway and went up onto the roof to take down the shingles. When he was doing so his foot slid and he rolled down the roof and flew down for about 3 seconds and hit the ground so hard. His dad asked him if he was alright and he said yeah then his father yelled at him "I told you not to wear them damn Nikes!" He then went with his dad to Walgreens to buy the ninja shoes.

-talks about meeting koalas, being the tourism ambassador for Australia
-talks about surfing with his children and surfing with his daughter on his back when a storm is coming
-his children are fluent in Spanish while he does not understand a single thing, she yells out them in Spanish and he agrees with her not knowing what she told them and she yells at him when she is really angry in Spanish with no clue what she is telling him off
-Talks about Matt Damon going to Australia and Chris telling him it is safe, Damon's daughter gets stung by a jellyfish and Chris tells him it was a one off and then he comes back again and Damon almost steps on a huge snake when he is getting out of the car. Chris told him he is the problem not Australia.

-Sebastian's mom saw Black Panther and called him afterwards telling him he lied about being in the film and he asked did she stay until the very end and she said no
-everyone needs to stay until the very end after the credits and many of them were very surprised during the movie that Chadwick yelled out "no they didn't" when they were watching the film
-Mark convinced Brolin to do the film and told him what the process would feel like

-social gatherings on set, people did not recognize Stan at the photoshoot and Brolin just realized it was him
-Karen does not get recognized a lot and lately people think she is Sophie Turner
-they do not say anything about the film and who knows what happens in the next film, "some" are excited for the next film


-they took their drawings very seriously

  • Back in November of last year, Paramount announced that it was producing a feature-film adaptation of the popular Canadian television anthology from the '90s.
  • The script is being penned by the writer, Gary Dauberman, of the recent IT revamp. Dauberman is producing the movie with Matt Kaplan.
  • This week at CinemaCon, Paramount unveiled the official logo for the movie with the date "October 11, 2019" written underneath. The logo may be altered later.
  • What Dauberman had to say about the logo and movie: "The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves."

Amazon premiered a clip from the upcoming Suspiria remake (to be released in the fall) at the Cinema Con luncheon, causing some audience members to thrown down their napkins and nope out of the room.

To invoke the original film's colorful aesthetic, the luncheon had cool lighting for the clip premiere:

Cardi B Sued by Former Manager for $10 Million

Cardi B is being sued by former manager Klenord “Shaft” Raphael. She left late last month for Solid Foundation (she joins rappers Migos — one of whom, Offset, is her fiancé).
Since 2015 Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image. 
He claims that he orchestrated Cardi B’s relationship with VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York.”
He helped her to connect with songwriters and producers, to secure label and publishing deals.

-Follow up to this post

- Trump took time away from his triple stacked sausage McGriddle to thank Kanye West and Chance the Rapper for “opening” the eyes of the people.

- Kanye West has been fangirling over DJT for the past two days and tried to defend his support of a white supremacist as “free thinking”. He’s received a ton of backlash from fans and colleagues (not enough).

- Noted Obama groupie Chance the Rapper snapped on his Twitter cape to defend Kanye West by saying that “black people didn’t have to be Democrats”. Twitter rightfully called him out on his shitty deflection tactics and he fell back.

- Guess that praise from DJT weighed on his conscience because Chance posted an apology this morning on Twitter.

She has endometriosis and she's opening up about how it's affected her career and her health.
She learned she was pregnant just a few months after finally being diagnosed with endometriosis,
She shared details about the brutal miscarriage she had on stage at a concert. 
After that moment, she knew she had to get more aggressive about her treatment, and ended up getting surgery last year.
She also revealed that at 23 years old, she’s freezing her eggs.

Rita announced that the name of her sold out tour in support of her newest album general career is "The Girls Tour".

The tour is named after one of the upcoming singles "Girls" from her upcoming sophomore album that originally featured MØ and Charli XCX, featured Raye in MØ's spot when she performed it at a festival last May and now reportedly features Bebe Rexha and Cardi B instead of MØ or Raye.

Kenya Bans Lesbian Love Story ‘Rafiki’ Ahead Of Cannes Debut

Kenyan authorities have banned Cannes-bound LGBT love story Rafiki, saying it promotes lesbianism, which is illegal in the country. 
“Anyone found in its possession will be in breach of law,” (a colonial-era national law under which gay sex carries a sentence of 14 years in jail.)



Film director Wanuri Kahiu said :
“I’m really disappointed because Kenyans already have access to watch films that have LGBT content, on Netflix, and in international films shown in Kenya and permitted by the classification board itself…So to then just ban a Kenyan film because it deals with something already happening in society just seems like a contradiction.”

Janelle Monae's new album Dirty Computer is out today. Includes more rap from Janelle, 70's and 80's funk, and contemporary bops. The reviews are in and it's a slay.

She released a 48 minute film to go along with it - full of queerness, afrofuturism, music, fashion, glam, Fornarina etc.. The story carries her arch-android themes, with Tessa Thompson as a love interest.
