Elizabeth Olsen talks about the Scarlet Witch! Kevin Feige talks about the 2 Quicksilvers!!

After weeks of rumors, Elizabeth Olsen was recently confirmed to play Scarlet Witch in ‘The Avengers 2‘ (officially titled ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’), but the actress only just acknowledged the apparently secret casting. Now she’s letting some more details fly about this mysterious new addition to the Marvel movie universe, so what can we expect from Scarlet Witch on the big screen?

In an interview with Ain’t It Cool News while promoting her upcoming film ‘Oldboy,’ Olsen spoke a bit about ‘The Avengers 2′ and her role in the film as Scarlet Witch. She’ll be reuniting with her ‘Oldboy’ co-starSamuel L. Jackson, who reprises the role of Nick Fury in the ‘Avengers’ sequel, and her ‘Godzilla‘ buddyAaron Taylor-Johnson, playing her onscreen brother Quicksilver.

Olsen wasn’t quite familiar with Scarlet Witch before she got the part, but she’s been doing a lot of studying by reading the comics since then, and spoke a bit about some of the powers her character has:

She’s crazy. She has more things wrong with her than any character I’ve ever played. She can tell you where an object has been, she can tell you what your future is, she can connect with the dead and people from the past, the future, other universes, and she’s the only person in this universe who’s capable of doing that. She’s unbelieveable; it’s so cool. I grew up loving ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Lord of the Rings,’ and anything that has another type of world or universe aspect to it is so fun.

The actress also stated she has a sense of what she’ll be wearing in terms of her superhero costume in the film, but she has “logic and mind enough not to share it.”

Olsen starts shooting ‘The Avengers 2′ in the spring, joining a cast that includes returning actors Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, as well as James Spader voicing the villainous Ultron. The film hits theaters on May 1, 2015.

KEVIN FEIGE PROMISES A "VERY DIFFERENT" QUICKSILVER IN 'AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON'

Two of what are guaranteed to be the biggest comic book movies of the next two summers, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Avengers: Age of Ultron, will feature different takes on the same character.

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige– he of the ever-present baseball cap and the teasingly coy non-answer – is talking about this strange tale of two Quicksilvers.

So next summer, 20th Century Fox will release the time-travel sequel-prequel X-Men: Days of Future Past and one of the many, many mutants appearing will be Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver, a superspeedy mutant who in Marvel Comics is the progeny of Magneto.  He'll be played there by Evan Peters.  In the summer of 2015, Marvel Studios will roll out its Avengerssequel, in which Quicksilver and his sister Wanda aka Scarlet Witch, are to be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson andElizabeth Olsen.

Intellectual property can be a funny thing.  Two entirely different studios have the rights to different aspects of the same character. Though Quicksilver can appear in both films, the X-Men cannot reference his status as an Avenger and theAvengers cannot allude to his mutant origins or his parentage.

Marvel Studios' President of Production Feige has words that ought to comfort anyone wondering if we'll soon see competing versions of many a hero.

"There are only a handful of characters that occupy that middle ground," Feige tells Daily News (via Comic Book Movie).  "Iron Man is not going to show up over there and Magneto is not going to show up over here. But there are a few gray points even after many years of negotiations … and that only happens with a character like Quicksilver, who has been a part of the X-Men, the son of Magneto in those comics, but also a primary Avenger. The characters are going to be very different. Other than their powers, general audiences might not even know — unless they read your article — that the two are related.”

While comic book fans will certainly be attentive to the differences, Feige is almost certainly right about the general audiences who don't track every aspect of a movie's development and whose attendance allows these pictures to make kajillions of dollars.  To the majority of moviegoers, Quicksilver will simply be the guy with the superspeed powers.  We are, after all, comfortable with reboots at this point, so the notion of different actors playing the same comic book character isn't exactly a novel idea.

From what little we've heard, Bryan Singer's principal motivation for introducing Quicksilver is a particular action setpiece.  Joss Whedon, meanwhile, has alluded to the Maximoff kids' background as villains being a part of his approach.

“There are only a handful of characters that occupy that middle ground,” says Feige. “Iron Man is not going to show up over there and Magneto is not going to show up over here.

X-Men: Days of Future Past arrives in theaters on May 23, 2014.  Avengers: Age of Ultron, then, opens on May 1, 2015.

Isn't it weird that both of these Quicksilvers are being played by actors from Kick-Ass?  Even weirder when you consider that Kick-Ass was directed by X-Men: First Class helmer Matthew Vaughn, who once upon a time was set to direct Marvel's Thor.

Dakota Fanning Goes Punk Again

After breaking through internationally with 2011's "Miss Bala," Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Naranjo hasn't been in a big hurry to break into Hollywood. While earlier this year he replaced Joe Carnahan on the brewing "Death Wish" remake, his most recent work has been on the FX series "The Bridge," where he directed the pilot episode. But it looks like his next feature is brewing, and it's unsurprisingly one that will have a bit of grit to it.

Dakota Fanning has boarded the filmmaker's English language feature debut, which doesn't seem to have a title just yet, but will combine a couple of our favourite things: road trips and music. The '80s-set story will find Fanning playing Viena, a roadie for a punk band as they travel across America, in "a journey of self-discovery and survival." Of course, Fanning has been on this kind of similar journey before (in her role as Cherie Currie in the somewhat underrated "Runaways"), only here it seems her character isn't on stage, but watching from the sidelines.

Production is slated to begin in February, and we'll certainly be eager to see how it all turns out and what other names might come on board.

Javier Bardem Offered Blackbeard Role In Joe Wright's 'Pan'

A Peter Pan origin story movie? Yawn. Even with Joe Wright attached to direct, "Pan" seems like yet another big studio play at a franchise, chasing a property and project that seems only to exist for nostalgia. But consider us now interested thanks to this latest development.

Javier Bardem has been offered the role of the villainous Blackbeard in the movie. And hell, as Bardem has proven across a number of films—"No Country For Old Men,""Skyfall,""The Counselor"—give him some wacky hair, and he'll take care of the rest. Deadline has some new details on the Jason Fuchs ("Ice Age: Continental Drift") script, revealing that it'll follow an orphan who gets sent to Neverland, saves the natives, fights the pirates and basically becomes a hero, we guess. And of course, he'll show down against Blackbeard.

It'll be interesting to see if Bardem bites since he generally doesn't do blockbusters, though the cachet of Wright helming is likely an attractive factor. We'll see.

Henry & Peter Pan's Twisted Connection Revealed

peter-pan-sneers

Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you don’t want your fairytale-loving mind blown.

We already knew that Henry (Jared Gilmore) had the most complicated family tree in human history, but after a shocking twist on the Nov. 17 episode of Once Upon A Time, “complicated” doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) spent the hour reflecting on his own childhood, which revealed a family secret that even the creepy little seer girl with the eye on her hand couldn’t have seen coming.

Long story short, Peter Pan (Robbie Kay) is Rumple’s father — and Henry’s great-grandfather!

Short story long: Young Rumple and his dad, a dead-beat grifter, escaped to Neverland in the hopes of beginning a new life. But when they arrived, the island’s shadow convinced Papa Rumple that he didn’t “belong” in Neverland because he’d lost his youthful heart. The solution? Send Rumple back home, transform into the smarmy youngster we all know today, and assume the name of Rumple’s creepy straw doll: “Peter Pan!”

Of course, present-day Henry had no idea about any of this. He also didn’t know that if he gave his heart to Pan, he’d die, a fact revealed to Emma (Jennifer Morrison) after her magical militia freed Wendy-in-a-Box from Pan’s camp. So when the time finally came to surrender his heart, Henry did so with little hesitation, resulting in an all-powerful Pan — and an all-screwed everybody else.

Odds & Ends

>> It turns out there is a way to save Charming (Josh Dallas) from the dream shade, and of course, Rumple knows how to make the elixir. So everything should turn out OK for Snow’s (Ginnifer Goodwin) husband — you know, assuming they can find a way to break Rumple out of Pandora’s Box. No biggie, right?

>> I wonder how Tinkerbell (Rose McIver) is going to fit into the final chapter of the Pan War. Rose recently told HollywoodLife.com that we’ve still got “a lot to learn” about her character’s backstory. I’m keeping my eye on her. Actually, both of ‘em!

>> That final scene — where Emma, Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Neal (Michael Raymond-James) begged Henry not give his heart to Pan — was, pun-intended, actually pretty heartbreaking. I know things have been getting a little insane on this show, but there’s a purpose every strange new connection. (Also, like I said earlier, this kid’s got one messed up family tree!)

Fifty Shades Of Grey's Dakota Johnson Describes Steamy Tale As 'An Incredible Love Story'

While its been described by some as "mummy porn" Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson has gone on to describe the EL James erotic novel as "an incredible love story."

Dakota has been cast as Anastasia Steele in the screen adaptation of the novel, opposite Jamie Dornan who has replaced Charlie Hunnam for the role of Christian Grey.

The actress spoke about why she was so eager to land the role to Entertainment Weekly and said that she was in love with the story.

"I just really understand it," Johnson said of the book. "I think it's an incredible love story and that's why it's affected so many people."

She then added: "[EL James] did a really good job of explaining how that just can happen sometimes and you have this chemical pull to someone.

"Adding in the sex makes it perfect. Sometimes you feel a little bit naughty and that's okay."

Following a lengthy audition process, Johnson also spoke about how blissfully happy she was when she got the call to tell her that she had landed the role.

"[When I got the call and] they said 'You got the offer' and I couldn't speak," she recalled. "I was just so relieved. I was crying and crying. Water was literally squirting out of my eyes because I had been so stressed out.

"And there's this giant Doberman Pincher laying on the bed next to me. And he just slowly fell asleep. It was so special and [this dog] didn't give a f**k about me and what I was going through," she laughed.

Recent reports are also claiming that an explicit version of the movie could be released alongside the R-rated cut, which is slated for release on Valentine's Day weekend in 2015.

MIDNIGHT MEMORIES LEAKS

Cigarette-smoking toddler with 40-a-day habit has given up... but now he's addicted to food

$

0
At the age of two he shocked the world after being pictured chain-smoking cigarettes. Two years on he's now a normal, cheeky five-year-old - and, while he's managed to kick the habit, he now has another addiction. Food.

Aldi Rizal became an international media sensation when he was discovered in a poor village in Sumatra, Indonesia, puffing on a cigarette while riding his tricycle. The outcry led to the Indonesian government launching a campaign to tackle the problem of children smoking and organising special rehabilitation treatment to help Aldi quit.

Aldi was taken for play therapy sessions in the capital Jakarta for two weeks to take his mind off his 40-a-day habit and learn to be a normal toddler for the first time.

A new documentary series revisits the family two years on to find out how Aldi is getting on and reveals he has managed to stay off the cigarettes, but is still dangerously unhealthy.

During his rehabilitation treatment, Aldi saw psychiatrists who encouraged his mother to keep him busy with playing and taught her about the dangers of smoking. One of them - Dr Kak Seto - still sees Aldi and his family at regular intervals to ensure he is not falling back into old habits.

His mother Diane Rizal, 28, said: 'There are many people still offering Aldi cigarettes, but Aldi no. He says "I love Kak Seto. He would be sad if I started smoking again and made myself ill."

'At first when we were weaning Aldi off the cigarettes he would have terrible tantrums and I would call Dr Seto for help. 'But now he doesn't want them.'

However, Mrs Rizal is now worried about her son's weight, as he developed food cravings while quitting smoking, and now has a big appetite.

Mrs Rizal said the strong-willed little boy now demands food in the same way he used to beg for cigarettes, and the family struggles not to give in to his tantrums.

Mrs Rizal said: 'When Aldi first quit smoking he would demand a lot of toys. He would bang his head on the wall if he couldn't get what he wanted. That's why I get him cigarettes in the first place - because of his temper and his crying. Now I don't give him cigarettes, but he eats a lot. With so many people living in the house it's hard to stop him from getting food.'

Aldi also helps his mother and father Mohamed out on their market stall, where his bright bubbly character and cheekiness wins him lots of attention.

'I feel happy when people want to speak to him because the know him,' admitted Mrs Rizal. 'But I feel annoyed when they refer to him as 'the smoking kid'. It makes me feel like they are accusing me of being a bad parent.'

Mr and Mrs Rizal decided to take Aldi to a nutritionist for medical checks and now they've been given advice on how to put him on a healthier diet so he can start to lose some weight.

'Aldi is very overweight, his weight doesn't match his age,' said nutritionist Fransisca Dewi. 'His ideal weight is 17kg to 19kg. He's 24kg already. 'I think it is difficult for them. The mother says Aldi is a spoilt kid. If Diana wants to forbid him eating, it will be hard. She will need the cooperation from the entire household. One obvious thing is they let him have too much condensed milk. He drinks three cans a day and eats too many carbohydrates.'

Paediatric specialist Dr William Nawawi is also concerned that smoking at an early age has made Aldi more likely to suffer weight issues.

He explained: 'Nicotine can increase the endocrine hormone in the body. This condition can cause resistance to insulin. The blood will not be able to break glucose from food. This will make Aldi become bigger and bigger.'

Now, Aldi is back at home in his fishing village and is on a strict diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and smaller portions.

Mrs Rizal must also persuade Aldi's siblings and the rest of the family not to give in and provide him with junk food when she is not around. Doctors hope that if Aldi can lose around half a stone to a stone, his weight will eventually even out as he starts to grow taller.

It is thought one-third of children in Indonesia try smoking before the age of ten. The Government has launched efforts to tackle the problem.

Aldi's story can be seen in Elephant Man: Body Bizarre on TLC UK at 10pm on Monday November 18.

BBC interviewed Steven Moffat, infamous troll, about The Night of the Doctor

The Night Of The Doctor is the new mini episode featuring the return of the Eighth Doctor… You can watch the adventure here! We caught up with its writer, Steven Moffat, and asked him about the Time War, the Sisterhood of Karn and of course, the return of Paul McGann! Contains spoilers…

Question: How did The Night of the Doctor come about?

Steven Moffat: Well, we had our new ‘hidden mystery’ Doctor and I was thinking, what else can we do for our anniversary year… I thought… Why don’t we get Paul McGann in and regenerate him into John Hurt? I’d like to see that! I’d love to see that! And we had this possibility that we could do it as a surprise, so we got in touch with Paul who was dead keen and I’m delighted to say he was so happy to join in with the idea of keeping it secret. He was childishly excited about it!

Paul came along and shot it - it was the last two days of the shoot for the fiftieth, actually. He did a wonderful job. It was great! We designed a new costume for him based on his old one. Howard Burden did a fantastic job with that.

Q: It was a well-kept secret! How important was that for you, and what measures did you go to, to ensure this regeneration was kept under wraps?

SM: We were phenomenally secret with the making of it! And I’m sure some people are a bit cross that we were so secretive but the fact is, there is only one way to ensure you keep a secret, and that’s to keep it! So, we kept it very tight and we hope it all came as great surprise to everyone.

Q: For those that don’t know him, could you describe the Eighth Doctor?

SM: The Eighth Doctor is perhaps the first of the sexy, romantic Doctors. I don’t mean he’s the first sexy Doctor – he’s not. But he’s the first one who kisses a lady, for example. He’s obviously dashing, terribly handsome and quite romantic. I always found it hard to imagine him fighting in the Time War. I’d always imagined the ‘Time War Doctor’ would be more grizzled, somehow, you know?

Paul only played the Doctor onscreen once before, in the TV Movie. He gives a wonderful performance in it. It’s a terrifically exuberant performance and it anticipates the later performances, particularly of Matt and David. He’s a dashing, romantic, very funny and very affecting Doctor! Of course, Paul is not only known for the telemovie but for all his wonderful audio adventures. I'm always telling the Doctors and companions, as they come through the show, that they'll never be quite done with it - Big Finish is expecting them.

Q: It’s an interesting spin on the Time War – the Time Lords becoming this hated race, as bad as the Daleks in some people’s eyes. Will we see that play out with John Hurt’s Doctor and so on?

SM: We will see some of that play out. We’ve already seen some of it play out on the show, in The End of Time, where the Doctor reveals the Time Lords got as bad as the Daleks towards the end, and he was as worried by them as anything else. And we know the Doctor wiped out his own people. He wouldn’t do so unless things had got pretty bad. Genocide is a big decision for anyone!

Q: People seemed delighted when they heard the Sisterhood of Karn was returning. Did that surprise you?

SM: A little bit! I was terribly excited about having the Sisterhood of Karn coming back which is why I did it! But I should probably learn to have a little more faith in the fact that what gets me excited as a sad, old fan will get other people excited as well! And okay, the Sisterhood are unknown to the kids, but I was a kid when I first saw the Sisterhood and I thought they were great! So I’m hoping other people will like them!

Q: And the character the Doctor encounters in the mini episode… Is that supposed to be Ohica, from The Brain of Morbius?

SM: No! If you look at the credits you’ll see I called her Ohila so it suggests she’s in some way connected to Ohica. Instead of having that confusion in having it the same person, I thought we’d just imply they were connected.

Q: Finally, running a show like Doctor Who is always going to be hard work… But how much fun was it? Bringing back the Eighth Doctor?

SM: Oh, it was a complete treat! It was always frustrating that we never got to see more of him! The completist in me… the ‘box set man’ in me wants every box ticked and I wanted every regeneration scene! And we get to see the Paul McGann Doctor regenerate into the John Hurt Doctor! I love regeneration episodes – there’s nothing more exciting! And in the anniversary year we get to see two regenerations… That’s pretty cool!

Teen Mom's Catelynn Frustrated She Can't Post Pictures Of Carly.

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra made the brave decision to place their kiddo, Carly, for adoption, giving her the chance to have a better life than they could provide for her. Catelynn and Tyler have a close relationship with Carly thanks to the terms of their adoption, which stipulate that they get phone calls and emails, as well as the occasional face-to-face visit.

Despite being super-close to Carly's adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis, Catelynn and Tyler often struggle with their rules. This protective mom and pop are eager to shield Carly from the spotlight, which is totally understandable considering that her birth parents are world-famous reality stars. Carly's almost never on camera, her picture is rarely in the news, and Catelynn and Tyler aren't allowed to post her image on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter — much to their annoyance!

"I want to post a pic of my child's face SO bad!!!!" Catelynn tweeted on November 17, adding "I'm not allowed to post pics of Carly b/c her adoptive parents don't want her to be in the spot light....... Ugh...."

When a fan mused that Carly was already on TV, Catelynn tweeted "I kno.... It's frustrating."Shockingly, when a fan replied that Brandon and Teresa were losers, Catelynn hit Favorite to the comment.
