How August Ames' suicide is changing the adult film industry

Since the suicide of August Ames in December, Kevin Moore (husband of Ames, porn producer and director) has been calling for change in the porn industry. In the span of three months, five deaths (Shyla Styles, Ames, Yurizan Beltran, Olivia Nova, and Olivia Nua) in the community have been reported either due to suicide, drug abuse, or reasons unknown.

"The business side doesn't want to acknowledge it because it's not sexy," Moore tells Rolling Stone. "The industry wants to stick its head in the sand and just hope it all goes away."

Moore may be correct, but APAC (Adult Performer Advocacy Committee) is trying to fight the industry apathy. In the works for performers is a database of sex worker-friendly therapists, OBGYNs, attorneys, and even accountants - who promise to view work in pornography as a valid form of employment and not out to "save" their clients from porn.

""We need to fight the stigma as a group, because we've all been under attack," Tori Black says, winner of two AVN awards for Performer Of The Year. "What happened to these girls could have happened to any one of us on a weak moment."

Moore also is developing The August Project, a suicide prevention hotline staffed with people who know the unique difficulties of being in the industry. "We're either a real business that takes care of our [performers], or we are the very thing the outside world thinks we are," he says.

Still, some concerns exist that the root of the tension is not addressed about crossover performers (entertainers who work in both gay and straight films).

"Despite the fact that no HIV has been passed on a PASS set (Performer Availabilty Scheduling Services) in over a decade, old fears about homosexuality continue to haunt the industry," says Riley Reyes, performer and producer and the vice president of APAC. "A lot of performers don't know that the HIV tests we use (in PASS) detect the virus much faster than the ones used at most clinics. (PASS) will detect HIV within around 9 to 14 days of infection."

However, there are some who argue any performer can do what they wish to do, regardless of their reasons. At the same time, no sex worker wants to be regarded as a health threat.

  • As of this writing, Sharknado 6 does not have a catchy subtitle, and is slated for release on the Syfy channel this summer.

How Taylor Swift helped Todrick Hall survive crazy breakdowns, his music, and Trayvon Martin

Todrick Hall talks to Billboard about his debut album, Forbidden. A two-hour visual album that consists of thirty songs and featured artists with a “story of persecution.”

The concept album however, almost didn't come to be after several “crazy breakdowns” with doubt. Swift would help Todrick and his insecurities about the project:“I would go over to her house, and over cinnamon sticks from Domino's, she would just listen to me crying and thinking that this wasn’t possible. Every time I was dealing with major problems I'd call her, and I'm just so grateful that she'd take the time to sit down and listen to me vent.”

• Taylor Swift assured Todrick that the album was going to be a success and that his fans were going to love it.

His music video for “Ordinary Day” depicts a black police officer shooting an unarmed white child while the rest of the neighborhood dance and go on about their day while his body remains in the street.

• “I wanted this to be uncomfortable for people to watch. You have to deal with the fact that they're doing this big production number, and his body is just laying right there,” adds Todrick.

• The street sign in the music video reads “Novyart,” or Trayvon spelled backwards.

• “It just seemed like his life didn't matter. Like he was some squirrel that someone had accidentally run over in some cul-de-sac and people were just waiting for someone to come clean it up.”

Brandy, RuPaul, Tamar Braxton, Keala Settle, Tiffany Haddish and many more are featured on the album as Hall wanted to make sure to showcase black excellence.

Chris Brown commented on a Shade Room post of Karrueche out with her new man, with "They look good together"... which may actually be a violation of the restraining order allegedly, we don't know.

He later posted on his own page something about wanting her to be happy even if it hurts him~ adding two taurus emojis (they're both a taurus).

Video Game Streamer Says Slur, No One Is Surprised

Yesterday, the top subscribed Twitch streamer, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, was broadcasting his and his friend's game of the popular new multiplayer game Fortnite. Some time during the stream, he and his friend were listening to "44 More" by Logic, and Blevins began ad-libbing lyrics (y'all know where I'm going with this).

Naturally, as it happens with most white male gamers, Blevins accidentally let slip out the N-word while rapping, despite the song itself not having the word in it. This comes on the heels of Blevins running a record-breaking stream of Fortnite with Drake (who ended the debate if pineapple pizza is The Lord's gift to mankind, which it is thank you). Of course, as with all comes with all white males, the Gaming Internet is crying foul, yo-yo-ing between saying they didn't hear the word when they watched the stream themselves, to "it's just a word!! people say it every day!! don't put it in songs if you don't wanna hear it!!" All in all, another day in the online gaming community, in which another shitty thing goes unpunished, and POC's voices continue to be ignored.

OP Note - I honestly don't like the article: I think the writer tries to hard to play the field and promote "This is bad, BUTTT he's a good guy!!" but I wanted to ask people here. For ONTD gamers, do you play online? What is your experience?

ONTD, will you ascend to the heavens by liking the pineapple pizza?

Misty Copeland claps back @ haters

If any of yall thought Ballet wasn't a dramatic life, yall thought wrong.

Earlier this week, a video surfaced on Youtube of american ballerina Misty Copeland. On said video, Misty makes a mistake during the 3rd act of Swan Lake, during the iconic 32 fouettes. Misty is unable to recover enough to complete the 32 turns and instead improvises her way into her exit. She does so as well as she possibly can and unless you know exactly what is supposed to happen there, you wouldn't know.
The video, originally titled "Misty Copeland fouette fail", has since been retitled and is here:

This prompted some racist reactions from bunheads and balletomanes, but trailblazer Misty Copeland didn't let them keep her down

On 2 IG posts, Misty shared one of her hater comments and wrote her opinion:

Link in my profile. I’m happy to share this because I will forever be a work in progress and will never stop learning. I learn from seeing myself on film and rarely get to. So thank you. I will always reiterate that I am by no means the best in ballet. I understand my position and what I represent. I know that I’m in a very unique position and have been given a rare platform. All I’ve ever wanted is to bring ballet to more people and to help to diversify it. I’ve worked extremely hard to be where I am and I believe that what I bring to the table is authentic artistry with a unique point of view through my life experiences, and my unusual path and upbringing. Also as a black woman and black ballerina. I would love to see all of the incredible deserving black dancers get the opportunities that I have. I will forever be humbled and extremely grateful for the fact that I get to do what I love for a living, that I get to do all of the incredible roles that I do, in particular Swan Queen. There are so many ballerinas that never get to experience dancing the most iconic and demanding role in a ballerinas repertoire. I have so so so much respect for what I do and for the ballerinas I stand on the shoulders of. I’m in awe everyday that I am a part of such an incredible art form that has changed and enriched my life in so many ways and that I get to do it all with ABT. I don’t decide who’s promoted or what roles I dance. I never envisioned myself as the Swan Queen after being in the company for almost 15 years before i was given the opportunity. I have such deep and conflicting feelings connected to Swan Lake. As a black woman and as a ballerina given the chance to take on this role. I often question if I deserve to perform this role. My conclusion, I do. Some of the most memorable Swan Queens in history have brought so much more to this role without having to present the incredible and evolved technique of today by doing insane tricks that bring some to see Swan Lake. For the anticipated 32 fouettés. But it is so much more than that.

A post shared by Misty Copeland (@mistyonpointe) on

Link in my profile. People come to see ballet for the escape. For the experience of being moved through our movement and artistry, not to score us on the technicality of what we do. This is why ballet is not a sport. A ballerinas career is not, nor should be defined by how many fouettés she executes. They are a part of the choreography to tell a story of pulling off the entrancement she holds over prince Siegfried. The point is to finish the 3rd act with a whirlwind movement that sucks him in just one last time before it’s revealed that Odile is not Odette. This is the incredible beauty of ballet. To move people. I’m happy to have this dialogue because it’s something I believe in whole heartedly. The history of ballet and it’s origin of pure freedom and expression is what we need to hold onto. Not to come into the theatre as a critic armed with judgement. I do appreciate the changes in the ballet technique, focused on evolving our technical abilities, but the point is to move people and for them to understand the stories we tell through dance. And that is an incredible responsibility and opportunity I will never take for granted.

Other dancers came to Misty's defense as well, including Royal Ballet fan favorite Steve McRae:

BRAVO @mistyonpointe 👌 . Misty unfortunately was on the receiving end of one of the ever growing breed of critics that hide behind their computer screens trolling the efforts of fellow human beings..... I salute the passionate and eloquent response by Misty (which I recommend you read on her profile). Misty is at the forefront of inspiring not only the next generation but people of all ages. The work Misty continues to do on and off stage is adding more humanity to a world that needs as much as possible right now and thankfully the world of Dance is an extraordinary language to communicate globally and ultimately inspire people through celebrating life - Full respect to you Misty 👏 . . . . It's worth noting that when other dancers have had issues happen to them on stage, fans usually praise them for their composure and how quickly they get back into their groove and keep going.

With 131,000 album equivalent units earned, XXXTentacion's "?" is the number one album in the country this week.

The only album by a female artist in the top 20 albums this week (or last week. or the week before) is Camila Cabello's.

"Sad!", a song directed towards his ex-girlfriend where he threatens to kill himself if she ever leaves him, got more streams last week than any other song but Drake's God's Plan and is the #7 song in America.

He's also been released from house arrest after his lawyers successfully argued that he needs to be able to go on tour and he's been behaving well.

This is all occurring as an older video of XXXTentacion punching a girl in the head surfaced online

Wal-Mart pulls Cosmopolitan from its checkout lanes

  • The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (herein NCOSE), which is a conservative anti-pornography group, had been campaigning to have Cosmopolitan pulled from Wal-Mart checkout stands.

  • Today, the organization announced their partial success: the magazine will be removed from the checkout lanes, but it will still be available in the magazine section.

  • NCOSE's statement: "Families and individuals will no longer be automatically exposed to Cosmo’s hypersexualized and degrading article titles that regularly promote pornography, sexting, BDSM, group sex, anal sex, and more, all while marketing toward young teens with Disney star cover models."

  • The organization also said: "Walmart’s removal of Cosmo from checkout lines is an incremental but significant step toward creating a culture where women and girls are valued as whole persons, rather than as sexual objects."

  • Some argue that the NCOSE is overlooking the sexual education offered in Cosmo.

  • Other critics think the NCOSE is missing the point of the #MeToo movement: sexual harrassment isn't about sex but about men abusing their power, and hiding a magazine written by women for women isn't going to help matters.

THE RIVERDALE HIGH DRAMA DEPARTMENT PROUDLY PRESENTS ITS SPRING PRODUCTION CARRIE: THE MUSICAL TO BE DIRECTED BY KEVIN KELLER AND PRODUCED BY THE LODGE FAMILY

Lots of dramatic shit happens as the school musical gets underway such as: threats from the Black Hood, "accidents", asshole parents, love drama between characters that aren't the core four, fractured friendships, Jughead's bad camera skills, lots of singing, Archie's cheesy dancing, and lots of fake blood with some real blood too.

The episode aired before their Paleyfest panel so random spoilers are out there, but otherwise just sit tight because it's another hiatus before the rest of us see this episode
