Actress sues production company after suffering gruesome facial injury on film set

■ Taylor Hickson received 70 stitches in her face after suffering a severe laceration while filming the upcoming horror film Ghostland

■ During a scene, she was instructed to pound on the glass pane of a door: “after being asked to increase the strength with which [she] pounded on the glass, [she] asked one of the producers and the director if it was safe to do so. That producer and the director both replied in the affirmative.”

■ The glass shattered and she fell through it face-first. According to Hickson, the crafts services lady had to hold her face together with napkins: “She went through so many napkins, there was so much blood.”

■ Hickson is seeking damages for physical and emotion distress. The suit also reads, “as a result of the injury, she has lost income [during] the period of time she was unable to act while she recovered.”

■ Ironically, the production company is called Incident Productions, and the film's poster features the broken and slashed image of a young woman’s face. (wtf)

A NSFW/NSFL photo of her face after the injury can be seen at the source.

who's your dream cast for this mess, ONTD?

Review Embargo for "A Wrinkle In Time" Lifts and the Reception is Mixed

0
0

– The social media embargo for the film lifted on February 27th, but not everyone who went to Disney's screening shared their thoughts, the buzz quieted down. People have been unsure if that was a good or bad thing, since these days it could either secretly 100% mean it was bad and people are relucant to criticize the film bc Disney or be part of a hollywood conspiracy to convince people it's good.
– Reception has been mixed. While most agree the film is beautiful to look at, criticisms specify flat pacing and pathos, lack of cohesive story, and awkward transitioning between action and visual effect set pieces. Headline descriptors range between "Radiant Miracle", "Disappointment," and "Gorgeous and Well Intentioned Mess".
– Is currently at 51% on Metacritic and 44% on Rotten Tomatoes.
– The general take seems to be
it's a flawed but fun children's adventure film with an important heroine, one that Duvernay made to fill the space she didn't see for herself in science fiction and fantasy when she was young. Whether or not the film is for you extends from there.
– The film releases March 9th.

ONTD, are you going to see it?(the gif is here for no other reason then I think it's hilarious oprah looks like ansem from kingdom hearts)

  • It's set for release on May 11th, and also stars Elisabeth Moss, Annette Bening, Corey Stoll and Michael Zegen.

  • It was adapted by Stephen Karam, directed by Michael Mayer, and is being released by Sony Picture Classics.

Didn't even know this was a thing. When did they film this? How many period pieces does Saoirse need to do to feel whole? JK, she should be in every single one.

Who went home on ANTM? 24x09

Tyra Mail says it's "time to make some moves," so they speculate it'll be a dancing challenge. Jeana talks about how she only trusts Rio in the competition, and they're best friends. Shanice talks about how she doesn't like either of them because Jeana talks about people and Rio's cocky. Throughout the ep, there's manufactured drama between Jeana and Shanice/Brendi K. with them just bitching about each other in talking heads for very little reason.

Ashley meets the girls for the challenge, where Jermaine Browne, a movement coach who has worked on Victoria's Secret fashion show and others, will help them learn to use their bodies while modelling. They're taught a routine and have to be photographed while doing it, and they'll be posing with and being lifted by Jermaine. Khrystyana is immediately nervous because "I'm a heavy girl, you don't lift me!!" (girl I feel this so hard omg). The winner will get to keep the sportswear outfit they're modeling in the challenge, and will get a VIP spa treatment with a friend. While the judges review the footage, Brendi K. complains about doing poorly in the challenge. The winner of the challenge was Jeana, but Shanice was also told she was at the top, so that naturally makes her mad, especially when Jeana picked Rio instead of the runner-up like Shanice claims she would have. (lol surejan.gif

When the girls get back from their spa day, the other girls are playing a game and shut them out when they ask what they're doing. Later, Brendi K. says she wants to go home, because the competition is really eating away at her. Erin points out that every time she gets criticism, Brendi K. shuts down, and she ends up breaking down and is still thinking about leaving after being comforted by Shanice and the others.

For the photo shoot, they're driven into the desert where they'll be shooting and moving with parachutes. Brendi K. is still talking about going home during hair and make-up. All of a sudden, there's a bunch of wind and the tents go flying, and Jeana is hit in the back of the head with a pole and gets sand in her eye. Shanice starts bitching about her "causing a scene" and accusing her of faking bc she didn't see her get hit. During the shoot, Jeana asked if she could take her shoes off since the gown was a mermaid style and totally covered her feet, so she had to stand tall even without heels.

At panel, Jeana looked short in her picture, and Drew told the judges that she took her heels off so she could move better (I can't believe they didn't get on her more for it...season 4 Tyra woud've ripped her to shreds). Brendi K. breaks down at panel and tells the judges she needs to leave for her mental health. Tyra announces that there's still an elimination even though Brendi K. left.

135. Killing Me Softly

RT rating: 0%
Critics Consensus: Respected director Chen Kaige's first English-language film is a spectacularly misguided erotic thriller, with ludicrous plot twists and cringe-worthy dialogue.
Starring: Heather Graham, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Ulrich Thomsen

119. Showgirls

RT rating: 22%
Critics Consensus: Vile, contemptible, garish, and misogynistic -- and that might just be exactly Showgirls' point.
Starring: Jessie Spano, Kyle MacLachlan, Gina Gershon, Glenn Plummer

83. Cruel Intentions

RT rating: 49%
Critics Consensus: Even in a slick package and an attractive cast, the movie succumbs to bad acting and a bad script. (rude)
Starring: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, Selma Blair, Ryan Phillippe, Christine Baranski

6. The Handmaiden

RT rating: 95%
Critics Consensus: The Handmaiden uses a Victorian crime novel as the loose inspiration for another visually sumptuous and absorbingly idiosyncratic outing from director Park Chan-wook.
Starring: Min-hee Kim, Tae-ri Kim, Jung-woo Ha, Jin-woong Cho

1. La Belle Noiseuse

RT rating: 100%
Critics Consensus: A sensual and hypnotic masterpiece, La Belle Noiseuse luxuriates in its four-hour run time while holding audience attention.
Starring: Michel Piccoli, Jane Birkin, Emmanuelle Beart, Marianne Denicourt

An anonymous Taylor Swift #Squad member spills lukewarm tea

0

• Under the condition of anonymity, one high-profile former #Squad member shared some details on Taylor Swift and her elusive #Squad.

• "Celebrity friendships are weird. You don’t see each other for forever, and you accept that – but Taylor’s gone off-grid in a big way since meeting Joe," says the anonymous former squad member.

The former member has also gone on to claim that Taylor has caused tension by asking squad members not to publicly comment on her. The source goes on to say, "I even heard about people getting requests not to mention her in interviews. It’s hard when that’s all you’re asked about, but Taylor is hyper-sensitive. I guess you have to be high-maintenance to become the biggest pop star in the world."

• Another source claims, "Taylor’s been keeping a low profile, but there hasn’t been a big fall-out. She was stung by claims her squad was elitist and prefers to spend time with close friends one-on-one at the moment. Since meeting Joe, her priorities have shifted, and everyone’s hoping for her sake that it works out. If it doesn’t, she may find herself having to make some awkward reparations."

Years & Years returns with "Sanctify," a song about hooking up with a straight man

0
0

British synthpop band Years & Years have returned with "Sanctify," their first new track in two years and the first single off their long-anticipated sophomore album. Frontman Olly Alexander told Nylon that the song is about his experience "hooking up with a straight man":

"There’s so much that goes on in an experience like that. On the one hand, the guy is struggling with his sexuality and feeling unable to express himself as anything other than straight while also desiring me. I’m on the other side feeling like both a sinner and saint or a devil and angel, leading this guy down a path of sinfulness while, at the same time, helping him explore his sexuality."

On The Talk, Ricky called Gus's ad "cute", "clever", and "special" (and not at all desperate and attention-whory I guess), and said that they will "definitely connect". Whether or not they'll be live streaming their foursome is yet to be confirmed.
