Smallville actor Tom Welling has praised the casting of Ben Affleck in the Superman vs Batman movie.

Affleck joining director Zack Snyder's sequel to Man to Steel as the Caped Crusader has led some angry fans to launch a petition to have him removed from the film.

Welling - who played Clark Kent in the CW series Smallville - has since offered his support for Affleck playing Batman on the big screen.

"It's great," he told E! News. "He's a tremendous actor, he's a wonderful director and I wish him the best."

The actor went on to caution fans not to rush to judgment about Affleck's casting in the Man of Steel sequel.

"It's hard to criticize things before they even happen," Welling said. "I know they'll endeavour to make the best film they can."

Josh Brolin recently confirmed that he was briefly in talks to play Batman, but also wished Affleck luck in the role.

How Britney Spears Got that Body!

In case you missed it, Britney Spears sent the Internet into a frenzy over the weekend when she posted a sizzling photo wearing only an itty bitty teal bikini.

The singer was on set filming her new video "Work Bitch," but that's not the only reason why she's been toning up.

"She's been a terror lately, working as hard as she can," the Grammy winner's trainer Tony Martinez tells E! News exclusively. "She's using all sports right now to get ready for her 90 minute Las Vegas show."

Although her workouts are less than an hour (about 40 minutes), Martinez says they are grueling.

"It is intense, interval training to keep her heart rate up. In a show, she will be dancing and singing non-stop (gurl pease). In her training, she only has about 10 to 15 second rests between each set," Martinez explains. "She is doing Olympic-style training. This is hard-core stuff. Britney knew she needed to step up her game. She is just drilling it but she likes too! She loves to sweat and she still talks smack to me."

Because the routines (something he calls Trickeration) are so intense, Martinez's main focus is making it fun by using sports, which is why he allows her to play tennis and do soccer drills .

"She loves tennis. She likes to serve. She was serving the ball like Serena Williams! (gurl please II)

In addition to tennis, Martinez likes to fill up her workout time with other sports such as boxing, football and basketball. Apparently our girl Brit's got quite the arm too: "She throws a perfect spiral every time," says Martinez.

She also climbs a 10-foot fence and does several exercises with the trainer's core discs and workout bands (part of his Travel Fit bag, available for purchase next week). Why? Britney really wants to tone up her tummy. "She always wants to work her abs," he shares.

We're exhausted just by reading the routine! Leave it to Britney to do it all with that signature smile on her face.

"She is mentally and physically 100 perfect ready for Vegas. She's so excited to perform and show what great shape she is in," he gushes of his client, adding: "She is working so hard. It is paying off. She is in a really good place and I'm so proud of her."

Dennis Rodman To Train North Korea’s Olympic Basketball Team, Says the Country's Not Bad

"I’ll tell you guys one thing: take me seriously.” That was Dennis Rodman’s gloriously ironic closing remark during a press conference he held on Monday in New York City to announce that he would be training the North Korean national basketball team for the 2016 Olympics. The former NBA star visited Pyongyang for the second time in six months last week and again met with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, whom he calls his “friend for life.”

Rodman also declared that he and other former NBA players would travel to North Korea to participate in a basketball tournament in honor of Jong Un’s birthday in January. He hopes that “basketball diplomacy” will help to bridge the gap between the secretive nation and the western world. Paddy Power, an Irish bookmaking firm, sponsored Rodman’s trip to Pyongyang and arranged Monday’s press conference.

On Sunday, Rodman made headlines around the world when he revealed that Jong Un has a daughter whose name is Ju-ae, and stated that the North Korean leader is “a good dad.”

Vanity Fair vs The Queen of Hollywood

1378768568000-XXX-D02-PALTROW-VANITY-FAIR-07
Is one of Hollywood's most famous magazines on GwynethPaltrow's bad side?

Well, according to The New York Times, the actress has emailed friends asking them not to work with Vanity Fair on a story that the monthly publication was writing about her.

"Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine," the Times claims that the Oscar-winning actress wrote, based on information received from someone who had seen the e-mail message.

"If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again," she reportedly added.

This comes on the heels of VanityFair running a cover story based on the production issues surrounding BradPitt's World War Z, as well as last year's October exposé on Scientology's role in Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' relationship.

Reports first surfaced back in June, however, that the actress was slated to grace the magazine's cover for their highly anticipated September issue.

Apparently, even a writer for the in-depth story, which was purported to be about why Gwyneth is so polarizing, had been chosen to write about why why some people love to hate (or just plain love) the blond actress.

In response to the recent criticism surrounding Vanity Fair, the magazine issued a statement on behalf of Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter.

"We wouldn't be doing our job if there wasn't a little bit of tension between Vanity Fair and its subjects. In any given week, I can except to hear from a disgruntled subject in Hollywood, Washington or on Wall Street. That's the nature of the beast."

A rep for the actress has yet to make a statement and did not return requests for comment at press time.

Pippi Longstocking actress Tami Erin changes mind, is finally ready to release her sex tape!

Actress Tami Erin is reportedly shopping her sex tape after a brief -- and what she said was fruitless -- attempt to keep the X-rated film private.

TMZ reports the 39-year-old thespian, who starred in the 1988 movie, The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, has given up trying to stop her ex-boyfriend from hawking the video. "My ex-boyfriend is trying to release it with or without me. I'm beating him to the punch," she told the site.

Erin, who was 14 years old when she found fame as red-headed, freckle-faced, mischievous girl, is now willingly fielding offers from porn companies and likely plans to sell the tape to the highest bidder.

In August, Erin told TMZ Live she was furious over the tape's potential commercial release, mustering all manner of invective and vitriol in labeling her ex-boyfriend, as well as his efforts to sell it.

Interestingly, Jasmine Waltz – who released a homemade sex tape RealJasmine in 2011 – told us recently that anyone with a sex tape out there has to give consent before it can be released, no matter what. “You absolutely cannot do anything without your consent," Waltz told us. "Not your mother’s, father’s, boyfriend’s consent. It is your signature."

honey, i shrunk the playstation 4

Sony’s new PlayStation Vita TV lets you play over 1,300 PlayStation Vita games (they mean all the playstation 1 and indie games on psn...) on your television, essentially transforming the handheld platform into a low-cost, low-profile home game console.

But if Sony gets everything right — and that’s a big if — PS Vita TV could become much more than a low-cost alternative to high-end game consoles. It could itself become a high-end game console.

As it stands, PS Vita TV is already a pretty attractive value. It’s a low-cost (9,954 yen in Japan, which will surely translate to $99.99 for the eventual U.S. launch) machine with a big library. In Japan, Sony has a massive collection of games on its PlayStation Network download service that will work with Vita TV right out of the box. Most of these games are from the libraries of the original PlayStation console and the PSP. Throw in the ability to play Vita native games and use video streaming services and it’s an attractive set-top box, something on the order of Apple TV or Ouya, but with all the power of PlayStation behind it.

Vita TV can also be used as a sort of Slingbox for the PlayStation 4. Buy Sony’s $399 next-gen game machine when it hits this year, and you’ll be able to hook up a Vita TV to your secondary television and stream your PS4 games from one room to another.

But the potential game-changer is Gaikai, the game streaming service that Sony acquired last year for $380 million.

Gaikai’s technology allows users to play games that are being processed not on the hardware they own but on remote servers. The scenario that Sony has laid out so far is that even though the upcoming PlayStation 4 will not be natively compatible with games from the PlayStation 3, Sony could stream those games to PS4.

Recently, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s CEO said that the plan is to roll out Gaikai on PlayStation 4 in North America in 2014, then eventually bring the service to PlayStation 3 and Vita.

That means that Sony already plans to let PlayStation Vita TV users, at some point, play PS3 content via streaming. If it can get that up and running, there’s no reason it couldn’t do the same with PlayStation 4 content as well. The technical challenge of streaming games has nothing to do with the power of the server-side hardware, it’s all about minimizing input lag and scaling the service so it won’t choke under the weight of millions of PlayStation owners.

And that’s really the big “if” here; can Sony solve these technical issues so that streaming can be a viable replacement for owning the actual hardware? If it can craft a service that reasonably meets players’ expectations, it might be able to seriously expand the reach of the PlayStation 4 platform.

This is all contingent, of course, on the PS Vita TV actually selling well enough to make such a move worthwhile. Value is in the eye of the beholder; there may simply not be a big enough audience out there that wants a $100 game console in the first place.

But if it does catch on, it could be the best home for the Gaikai service. Playing PlayStation 3 content on PS4 would be a neat additional feature that few players would really take advantage of — why play your old games when you can play so many brand new ones? But playing next-generation console games on a $100 box that fits in the palm of your hand? That could be the biggest deal of all.

articleimage

tl;dr this $100 little box could stream playstation 3 and 4 games. if sony can get their gaikai game streaming service to be viable. if all else fails, it'll play final fantasy 7 and netflix.

ur fave console, ontd? idk, talk about video games

Breaking Bad DVD Mini Round Up: Bryan on Walter and Info on the DVD Box Set

As Breaking Bad draws to a close, one of the show's central questions has still not been completely answered: Was Walt doing all this — the meth, the murdering, etc. — for the good of his family, as he's claimed, or was he really doing it for his own misguided sense of pride? There may never be a satisfying answer, since the show's dual father figures Vince Gilligan and Bryan Cranston don't even agree on what it is. From the megaprofile of Cranston in this week's New Yorker:

In the second season, [Cranston] told Gilligan, "I really think Walt's doing it for his family," and Gilligan replied "No, I think he's actually kind of selfish." Gilligan says, "It dawned on me, slowly, that I was telling the actor he's mistaken about his own character — and that my stupidity was jeopardizing the whole show. You don't have to be Freud to know that Hitler thought of himself as a wonderful guy."

Smiling tightly, Cranston says, "I was able to keep that conversation at bay." The actor can't let himself know things that he knows. And so, for a long time, Cranston has been lying to himself that the monster he carries in his belly is a wonderful dad.

K. Michelle On Tamar Braxton: 'Stop Hiding Behind Vince's Man Boobs, Shut Up and Sing'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

K. Michelle is feeling a bit slighted after delivering a nice gesture by picking up Tamar Braxton's album, "Love and War" last week. After hearing the "She Did That" and "Hot Sugar" singer laugh over her gesture and "low" album sales on Power 105.1 radio's "The Breakfast Club" Monday, K. Michelle opted to fire back via Twitter and she didn't hold back....

"I'm really just trying to stay positive and live my life. I bought the album 2supprt her and everything. I don't get it. But I'm the bully?" wrote K. Michelle. "You keep throwing rocks at me and then u run and hide behind Vince's man boobs! U not above getting checked shady boots! Don't worry about my album sales, worry about finding ur original face! My sales are REAL, nothing political ALL HARD WORK."

Taking on Tamar's comment that they aren't even in "the same conversation" because she's allegedly sold 100k in three days, K. Michelle went on to allege that her husband, Vince, bought a good portion of those albums.

"Humble yourself! You bout SEVERAL of those albums. I sold over a 100,000 albums 2, just 4 days after u. SHE is not winning like SHE thinks," K. Michelle wrote. "Now stop coming for me. There's enough room for everybody! Just shut up and sing! Leave me alone! Damn."

Get A Chance To Share And Synchonize Your Brainwaves With Marina Abramović, ONTD!

Marina Abramović seems to be constantly in the news lately—if she's not launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new arts center, then she's teaming up with Lady GaGa for weird art videos, which itself was done to help Abramović reach her Kickstarter goal (she made it). And now that she's raised $661,452 to found the Marina Abramović Institute, she's collaborating with Suzanne Dikker and Matthias Oostrik on "interactive brain-art installation" and neuroscience experiment Mutual Wave Machine.
The piece looks at the notion of the phrase "being on the same wavelength" by investigating brainwave synchronization using custom software that collects and analyzes brain acitvity in real-time. Similar to her The Artist Is Present performance, members of the public will sit opposite each other, but this time in EEG headsets, while sharing a silent "mutual gaze" as the equipment records their activity and displays it in real-time—with the aim to explore the "transfer of energy between performer, public, and participant."

Here's how the piece is described in the press materials:

Enclosed by an intimate capsule and immersed in an audiovisual environment that responds to and reflects their shared brain activity, visitors can directly experience and manipulate their internal efforts to approach each other, or distance themselves from each other. During the experience, greater brainwave synchronization is reflected in greater vividness and more coherent and recognizable audiovisual patterns, while lack of synchronization strays towards dark audio-visual chaos: a faint ringing in the ears and static in the retinas.

It will feature as part of the TodaysArt Festival in The Hague, Netherlands taking place on the 27th and 28th September.

Ugh, it's fucking ridiculous that the "art" tag is bundled up with "toys, memorabilia, and collectibles" like it's not even within the same league as Kween Marina. Honestly, there should be a separate "art / artist" tag as I have mentioned in my last Marina post.

Would you like to sync and share your brainwaves with Marina, ONTD?

10 Great Julia Roberts Quotes From 'August: Osage County' Press Conference + She Cusses on Live TV

$

Meryl Streep wasn't in attendance at this morning's packed press conference for "August: Osage County" at the Toronto International Film Festival. But Julia Roberts (who joked that Streep's absence was simply due to her "sleeping") helped make up for it with nearly an hour of lively Julia-isms.

The rest of the present talent -- including director John Wells, writer Tracy Letts and actors Chris Cooper, Ewan McGregor, Julianne Nicholson, Abigail Breslin and Dermot Mulroney -- all offered some nice soundbites as well, but we couldn't help but keep this little list exclusive to Ms. Roberts, who seems to just be becoming more and more of a hoot with age.

On how she discovered "August: Osage County" the play:"That's what I was gonna say," Roberts joked after Julianne Nicholson eloquently described her experiences discovering the play before Roberts' turn. "Everything Julianne Nicholson just said, she read off my paper. Because I saw the play and I loved it. You sit in your seat and think 'my life will never be the same again.' Having spent time now with this cast trying to take this incredible play and make it into a movie. My life will never be the same again."

On how the cast worked together on the film:"Here's the thing. Here's the crux of the biscuit, if you will. We worked our asses off. Because there was no other way to do it. I've never worked so hard in my life and I've given birth to three children. It was like a mountain to climb every single day and the only way to climb it, we discovered, was holding hands -- whether we liked it or not. We would work all day and go home and shower, and then all run to Meryl's house and start practicing for the next day. Because you had to have that momentum going really about 19 or 20 hours of the day or else it would just leave you. And it was the best acting experience of my life."

On what she thought it must have been like for the cast of the play:"I don't know they did it eight times a week, without some kind of rehab after. Or was there was a halfway house for them after to get back to real life?"

On working with Meryl Streep (part 1):"At the top of the heap was the person who's sleeping somewhere right now, Meryl Streep. Who showed that it is about working hard. Because I've never seen anyone work harder than she works. She doesn't just snap her fingers and be a genius. She really is just the hardest working girl in the room. I was so grateful to see that up close."

On how she manages fame and family values:"Family values. That's actually values in general. That's all there is. Fame is just a summer breeze that comes and goes. But to have a bedrock of knowing who you are, that's what it's all about."

On seeing the movie for the first time last night:"I think I cut off Dermot [Mulroney]'s circulation just squeezing his hand with excitement and thrill to see what everybody did. Because it's such a great ensemble. Even though there were a lot of scenes that we are all in together, my favorite is the bus station scene with Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Chris [Cooper]. It was my favorite scene in the play and it was my favorite scene when I read the screenplay. To watch the way they did that in the film, it was heartbreaking. I have too much makeup on right now to keep talking about that scene! But that's why you want to go and see what your friends did so perfectly. It's great. I loved watching the movie last night and I thought the audience was so great. It was great to have so much energetic support. It was something I'll never forget."

On working with Meryl Streep (part 2):"To work with Meryl Streep is a dream come true for anyone. To know her is an honor. She is such a beautiful person and it was intimidating, certainly, to be in these scenes with her. Choking her, and things like that, were not how I pictured it going in my mind all these years. I thought we'd be together, having tea and speaking in fabulous accents all dressed up. But there we were... I'm sweating and have on a big butt pad. So that's not how it was in my dream. However... It was still amazing. I think that at the end of every day -- coming out of the truth of the Weston family and into our own truths of who were are together with a hug and a kiss and an 'I love you' -- that was really the elixir that I needed to come in the next day and climb over the next table to choke her in the next way."

On what she does to alleviate anger:"Act! I don't have to be angry now for like 10 more years after this. I got it all out!"

On the fact that the actresses that played her sisters are named Juliette and Julianne (after a reporter tried to pose a question to all three of them):"Isn't that hard to say? Imagine what John [Wells] went through! Why did he cast the three of us? It was a Jule-bilee! [huge laughter from the audience] Just take a minute people. Enjoy that. Cause it's hard to say, too."

On working with Meryl Streep (part 3): "Meryl is not only sublime and superior in her work. She's such a beautiful person. She sees not only what I need as an actor but what I need as a girl in the world. She provides all that, all the time. No wonder she's sleeping. She's exhausted after taking care of me."
