Heads Up, ONTD! Meet Yoel Weisshaus, the Hasidic Face of American Apparel

0
0

The spandex-loving fashion store has a brand new star. Nina Strochlic of The Daily Beast talks to the model with Hasidic curls from one of American Apparel’s latest fashion shoots.

Scroll past images of showering models in mesh bodysuits and bare-faced girls in just-long-enough hoodies on American Apparel’s Tumblr, and you’ll find a surprising sight: a playful model sportingalong with classic menswearperfectly curled earlocks, a chest-length beard, and a large, round fur cap. In one, he’s playfully sprawled on what appears to be a white-sheeted mattress, one hand under his cheek, the other on his hip. Sassy. If American Apparel is notorious for its hipster-next-door models, Yiddish-speaking Yoel Weisshaus is simply representing your quintessential Hasid next door.

Weisshaus is amused by the fascination that’s sprung up since his modeling debut. The photos of him were published on Saturday, but fittingly, began gaining traction online Wednesday, the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

The company’s notoriously scandalous past advertisements seem to butt heads with the high value Judaism’s most conservative sects put on modesty—a point Weisshaus isn’t too concerned with. “Why would there be a conflict? It’s just a photo.” He acknowledges it’s unusual to see a Hasidic man in an advertisement for a mainstream retailer, but says those marketing decisions have “nothing to do with me.”

Weisshaus, who’s dabbled in acting prior to this modeling turn, juggles side jobs to bring in extra income while he’s a full-time student at Bergen Community College in New Jersey. A few months ago, the 32-year-old was told by a friend that American Apparel was seeking Hasidic models for a photo shoot, so he applied, went in for an interview, and scored the job. It wasn’t just for money. The images combat the stereotypes of religious Jews, who value their insular communities, but also, he says, the typecast of the company’s amateur models.

Some people are complaining saying American Apparel always has only nude or sexually oriented models, and quite to the contrary—you can see the same thing on the nonsexual figure, just in regular dress,” he says, He’s enjoying pushing the envelope, in this case. “I like the controversy, I enjoy the conversation, I like to get people talking with this stuff going on.” In fact, they didn’t quite have enough time in the four-hour shoot last month to do all the outfits planned, and he would gladly go back to the studio for more. (A request for comment to the company went unanswered as of press time.)

Though the founder of American Apparel is Jewish—and even recently unveiled a black nail polish color called “Hassid”—the company has run into religious controversy before, after being sued by Woody Allen for using an image of him as an Orthodox Jew with Yiddish text readingThe High Rabbi.” It was a move Weisshaus found much more humorous than offensive.

It’s not using religion, it’s me presenting myself and I deliver the message,” he says. “Whoever wants to interpret it to any other way they can interpret it, but for me I see it only as: I enjoyed it, it was a good photo shoot, a great team, we worked great together, and had some good laughs.

Weisshaus was raised speaking Yiddish in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, which in the past couple of years has seen its Hasidic demographic infiltrated by American Apparel–buying hipsters. Styles of the two groups have been known to overlap (a notion the blog ”Hasid or Hipster” jokingly toys with). The irony isn’t lost on Weisshaus, and he spins his participation in the ads with a historical twist. “Many Jewish immigrants were laborers in the fashion industry in the city, and a big part of it is rooted in the Hasidic heritage,” Weisshaus notes. “Hasids had a big part in development of American Apparel, and big part of the fashion industry has come from [us]. It’s a part of history we should not forget.” His modeling is somewhat of an homage to the religion’s history, he notes.

Weisshaus may not frequent American Apparel much himself (“I’ll tell you what, I’m a peasant, sometimes I cannot afford American Apparel”), but he doesn’t see why other Hasidic Jews wouldn’t shop there for work and casual clothing.

Brad Pitt On Possible World War Z Sequel: "We're Talking About It!"

World War Z, one of the highest grossing films of 2013 and Pitt’s most successful movie ever, was the recipient of bad buzz early prior to its release but, in a reversal of fortune, went on to earn a whopping $533 million at the worldwide box office.

“We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work,” Pitt said in a new interview with Variety. “We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further.”

Based on the 2006 novel by Max Brooks, the zombie blockbuster underwent a complete rewrite and reshoot of the third act, hiking up the budget to nearly $200 million but insiders say, ultimately prevailed thanks to an aggressive marketing campaign and positive reviews.

Paramount is said to be leaning on Pitt, whose company Plan B produced the film, to make another feature as the World War Z property was initially envisioned as a three-part franchise.

“We have so many ideas and so much information–we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from,” Pitt said. Mireille Enos, who is promoting her new film Devil’s Knot, told Variety said she’s on board 100%. “We’ll wait and see how the script turns out but yes, I’d love to come back.”

As for whom will write the script remains to be seen.

Are The Vamps the new One Direction?

0
0

Who are they?
Clean-cut British foursome The Vamps’ hearty guitar-pop and youthful lyrics could make them the next big teenage music stars. This weekend they will support American pop singer Selena Gomez at two big London shows, ahead of the release their debut single, Can We Dance, which has already been viewed a million times on YouTube.

How did they get here?
The Vamps formed after the band members found one another via their respective YouTube channels. Guitarist James McVey, 19, approached singer Bradley Simpson, 18, and the pair began writing songs together. They tracked down Tristan Evans, 19, after watching the audition tape which helped him make the final of a national competition for aspiring drummers in 2010, and bassist Connor Ball, 17, joined earlier this year. As Simpson explains, "bands used to form through an advert in the NME, but now it’s amazing what you can find on YouTube". The quartet have since landed a record deal with EMI and begun work on their debut album with producers in New York and LA. They’ve also built a devoted fan base, judging by the ecstatic reception they received during a gig at London’s Westfield shopping centre last month.

Who are their influences?

The band grew up listening to US pop-punk bands like Blink-182, but are also fans of acoustic pop and folk artists like Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons. Their biggest influence is British pop band McFly, who they recently toured with: "Their debut album was a first in all of our collections", says Simpson, "they’re brilliant musicians".

What do they sound like?
Don’t be fooled by their fresh faces, tousled hair and adoring fans – The Vamps are no One Direction. They co-write all of their songs, most of which have a rockier power-pop feel than those of Harry Styles and co. Can We Dance is an honest tale of teenage awkwardness with a punchy, toe-tapping chorus, while another track, Wildheart, has a distinctive folk bent. Both are impressively anthemic for such a young band.

What do they say about themselves?
"[We] take pride in the fact we play our own instruments and write our own songs,” says Simpson. "We’re not just a pop act."

Can We Dance is released on September 29

MTV's "The City": Where Are They Now?

In 2008, The Hills’ Whitney Port moved to New York City with big dreams of becoming a fashion designer. But first, she had to deal with flaky friends, sketchy dudes, and Kelly Cutrone’s biting criticism. Though it only lasted two seasons, MTV’s The City has a special place in our hearts. Find out where Whit and her friends/enemies are today.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Whitney Port

Then: Transplanted from The Hills of Los Angeles to New York City, Whitney Port created her own fashion line, looked for love, and made and lost friends.

Now:
Still coming out with lines every year, Whitney Eve is going strong. So is Whitney’s friendship with Lauren Conrad. The former Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model judge is dating Tim Rosenman, who was a producer on The City. Their relationship began two months after Whitney split with The Buried Life's Ben Nemtin in June 2011. Sadly, the fashion designer lost her father to kidney cancer in March 2013. She opened up to Us Magazine about life after the show: “"You get to hold things sacred and things can be like (she still can't put together a sentence without the word "like") private and intimate," she said. "You don’t have to worry how anyone else is going to perceive it.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Olivia Palermo

Then: While working at Diane von Furstenberg, Olivia Palermo clashed with co-worker Whitney Port. Later, she moved on to ELLE, where she constantly fought with PR maven Erin Kaplan. At the end of the series, she had just been chosen to be the face of the magazine in their video spots.

Now:
After launching her own website, www.oliviapalermo.com, Olivia remains an “It” girl about town. In 2011, she appeared as a guest judge on Project Runway Season 9. The 27-year-old former model occasionally goes apple picking in Germany with her boyfriend, model and fashion photographer Johannes Huebl. The former Upper East sider now lives in Brooklyn with Johannes. Of her time on The City, Olivia told Page Six Magazine, “it was just ridiculous, it was not me at all.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Kelly Cutrone

Then: Whit’s boss and mentor, Kelly Cutrone founded PR firm People's Revolution and helped get Whitney Eve off the ground — even if she rolled her eyes a lot.

Now: In 2010, Kelly had her own show, Kell on Earth, on Bravo that we miss every day. As a judge on America's Next Top Model, she’s known as Kelly "Cut-throat" Cutrone. She recently raised eyebrows by saying that women “want to see thin models” and the fashion industry is just giving them what they want. People's Revolution is still operating, but recently pulled out of a New York Fashion Week show less than 24 hours before the designer was set to show his collection.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jay Lyon

Then: Whit’s Australian boyfriend who modeled and played in the band Tamarama, Jay broke her heart when he abruptly broke up with her before leaving on tour. Afterwards, Whit said of him, “And he was a musician at the time and I think that he was cool with it, who knows his motives? I don't know now. I think he loved it.” what?

Now: You can still see Jay in ads for Jag Jeans. According to their Twitter page, Tamarama has new tunes coming soon.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Erin Lucas

Then: Best known for juggling two guys at once (but not being one of those girls who engages in “awkwardly long stares”) — her boyfriend Duncan and her ex JR — Erin, daughter of AC/DC bass guitarist, Cliff Williams, left The City after Season 1. She supposedly had a falling out with former roommate Whit.

Now: Currently living in Los Angeles, Erin has resumed hosting duties. Before The City, she worked MTVU, and she now hosts for Inside Beautiful. She’s also engaged to Angus Edward.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Roxy Olin

Then: After constantly fighting with roommate/co-worker Whitney (the fashion designer accused her friend of not doing her job by ensuring musician Lights wore a Whitney Eve jacket during her set at a fashion show), Roxy moved out of their apartment.

Now: The daughter of actors Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig, Roxy was simultaneously doing The City and Brothers and Sisters. It looks like she’s still acting, as she had a role on the short-lived Mob Doctor and is currently working on the upcoming TV show Sleepy Hollow. According to her Twitter, she blames her dramatic weight loss on a rough breakup.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Samantha Swetra

Then: Whitney’s good pal and Bergdorf Goodman buyer Samantha Swetra was always there for her friend, whether she needed to get in to a fashion show or needed relationship advice.

Now: At 27, Samantha is still in the fashion business, working at an account executive at Roberto Cavalli. Though she’s still friends with Whit, much of the former reality star’s time is taken up by her 4-month old daughter, Teigen. In September, she’ll head to France to marry her fiancé. Another random fact? Boardwalk Empire actress Paz de la Huerta pled guilty to harassing Samantha after an incident at a Manhattan hotel.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Erin Kaplan

Then: ELLE magazine’s youngest Director of Public Relations, Erin Kaplan was constantly exasperated with Olivia Palermo.

Now: Much like on The City, everything with Erin is work, work, work. In January 2011, she left ELLE to join Teen Vogue as Senior Director of Public Relations. You can tell she’s good at her job, because she doesn’t tweet anything about her personal life. Just call her Enigma Erin.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Allie Crandell

Then: In Season 1 of The City, Allie, known as Adam’s girlfriend, was told her boyfriend had kissed another girl — by the girl he kissed. Whitney’s boss, Kelly Cutrone, also expressed concern over Allie’s weight, saying she was “so skinny” and would help her if she needed it.

Now: Having ditched Adam for the man she says she’s going to marry, Devin Leahy, Allie seems much happier. She’s also still modeling, most recently for Otis & Maclain. In 2010, she caused controversy on Revolve Clothing’s site with her thin frame. The company promised not to use her as a model until she gained weight.

Top Celebrity Pets

0
0
Due to the current recession, Americans with new pets have declined in the past few years. In 2012, the percentage of households with at least one pet decreased 2.4 percent, according to USA Today. It’s no surprise that with the economy in decline, people are less willing to shell out the $1,650 per year of vet bills, food, etc that it takes to care for a dog and $1,270 a year for a cat according to American Pet Products.

Of course, celebrities are the exception to the rule. With their hefty incomes from movies, television, and music, they can afford to care for as many Fidos and Fluffies as they want. As it becomes less practical for us to enjoy pets for ourselves, at least we can see the abundant adorableness of celebrities’ furry friends as they share pics on their Facebooks, Twitters, and Instagrams! We count down the top ten celebrity pets of today.

9) Steven Tyler’s raccoon
Yes, it is legal to have a pet raccoon, and no, they don’t all have rabies. Domesticated raccoons are as friendly as dogs and can be litter box trained like a cat. The best of both worlds? Steven Tyler certainly thinks so. He goes fishing with his raccoon perched on his shoulder every day. Check out this clip from Letterman, where Tyler talks about his unique pet as the video reaches 1:28.

7) Katy Perry’s cat
Katy Perry’s cat is famously named Kitty Purry. As well as being a pet, Kitty Purry is also considered Perry’s mascot, as she was featured in Perry’s music videos and live on stage as a giant blow-up cat. Perry recently posted a picture of the famous feline on her Instagram.

4) Cee Lo Green’s cat
Cee Lo Green loves his cat Purrfect so much that he has his own Twitter account (@PurrfectTheCat). Purrfect saved this picture of him and his dad, which was originally tweeted by Cherry Cheva.

3) Tori Spelling’s chicken
Tori Spelling has a fluffy white feathered friend named Coco Chanel. In this Instagram post, the chicken poses poolside in a patriotic fourth of July shot.

1) David Beckham’s pigs
David Beckham’s micro pigs were a Christmas gift from his wife in 2009. Beckham named the two pigs Elton John and David Furnish. Micro pigs grow to be only 14 inches tall. So cute!

Cillian Murphy on receiving a can of peas, his stereo system, film funding, style, music, etc.

0
0

Somewhat reminiscent of a Brummie Boardwalk Empire, Peaky Blinders sees Cillian Murphy play Tommy Shelby, the head honcho of a Twenties Birmingham gang with a dress sense as sharp as the razor blades sewn into the peak of their caps. Sitting in London's gloomy BFI building, the former GQ Man Of The Year Murphy is unsurprisingly considerably more charismatic than the explosively violent character he portrays. Ahead of Peaky Blinders' debut on BBC 2 later this week, Murphy talks Omega watches, stereo systems and small talk with Tim Roth.

GQ: It's great to see a strong British series that can compete with what the U.S is putting out. What do you think about British television right now?
Cillian Murphy: America has definitely set the bar and those shows are just extraordinary. I love the show Southcliffe on Channel 4, The Fall is a great show too. It's just a golden age for telly, it really is. I think it's [now] more of a crossover in terms of the talent and the technical people [from movies to TV]. You see now that directors, writers and actors are moving between the two very seamlessly and very smoothly. I think it's also been influenced by the way people are viewing because of the way technology has evolved. I hope that it's a positive thing. I wonder whether certain films like Leaving Las Vegas would get made now. Would they get the funding for that movie? It's tough and those mid-budget, intelligent movies are being squeezed out. They are obviously exceptions of great, clever, mainstream films being made as well. To get really deep into character, television seems to be the medium.

How involved were you in your character's costume?
You always need to put your stamp on a character, but we were clear from the beginning that they had to be sartorially distinctive. They don't have that much money, but the money that they do they spend on their clobber. Little things like Tommy wears the collar but without the tie, while some of the others wear a tie or a dicky bow. Every actor can really find a character through the costume.

What's been your biggest style mistake?
I like to keep it simple. I'm more a classic guy. Good pair of jeans, good t-shirt, good belt. I stick with the things that work. Probably in my teenage years I made a few errors. When I was acting in a play in the West End I was wearing a knee-length woolly jumper and I got asked if I needed shelter for the evening.

Last time you spoke to GQ you mentioned the difficulties of small talk with Robert De Niro, what was small talk like with Tim Roth on Broken?
There weren't any difficulties with small talk with Robert De Niro, he sets the pace you go. If you're sitting here with Robert De Niro and he doesn't want to talk I'm not going to fill it, that was the dynamic. If he chats, he chats. He's a lovely, charming sweet man. He's not interested in small talk. He'll talk about the important things. He'll talk about food and he may volunteer an anecdote or two, he's not going to fill it talking about the weather or his favourite football team.

In contrast, what's Tim Roth like?
We've become good pals. He was a hero of mine growing up. He had a big influence on me in terms of his fearlessness and power as an actor. We really clicked making that film.

What did you make of the violence in Peaky Blinders when you read the script?
I always think you need to approach sex and violence in scripts in a way where you look at why it's being used. What is the point of this? Tell the point and consequences of this. I think that Tommy realises that these things are unpleasant but that they need to happen in order for him to succeed and achieve his ultimate goal. It can be stylised and made to look beautiful, but it needs to have a consequence and have a reason.

The soundtrack is great and you're a huge music fan. What's your stereo system like?
Pretty nice speakers, a pretty average turntable which I need to upgrade. I have a nice streaming system around the house, I like to mix the digital and the analogue. I left vinyl alone for a long time but now we've just got it out of the attic, and my kids love the ritual of putting on a record as well. They are understanding that thing that you just don't pull it from the cloud, it exists in a physical form. I love old records, but the thing with Spotify and iTunes is that you don't own them, you just have access to them. They exist somewhere, but you don't have ownership of them. It's great for sharing and discovering music - I've discovered so much music online, a lot of obscure music that as a teenager I would have died to get my hands on. Now I can just click and it's there. I think it's important to mix it up and still buy the tangible thing.

Who were the last band you saw that impressed you?
I'm going to see them tonight, actually. This band called Money, from Manchester.

You made a music video for them, who else would you like to make a music video for?
That's a great question! There are so many bands; it's such a hard question. If any cool bands read this and want me to direct a video, I'll be happy to do it.

Which band would you like to see reform?
I think most bands break up now in order to reform. I think most bands I'd want to see reform can't because some of them are dead. I would have liked to have seen that Led Zeppelin gig at the O2 a few years ago, that would've been amazing. I'm glad that they haven't done it since. I went to see Blur's final farewell concert in Hyde Park - they've played like f***ing 12 more concerts since then!

What do you look for in a watch?
I have an Omega because they put the first watch on the moon. If it can go to the moon, that's good enough for me - it should last a few years. I quite like old school, classical things.

What's the strangest gift you've received from a fan?
Someone gave me a tin of peas once, because in the film Intermission I throw a tin of peas at the manager and it knocks him out, so this woman gave me a tin of peas.

What's your abiding memory of winning an award at GQ Men of the Year in 2006?
It was a great craic. I was hanging out with Graham Norton. He's a top man and it was a really good night.

Who's your best dressed British man?
I like the way bands dress. Damon Albarn always looks pretty good to me.

How do you want to be remembered?
Well, I suppose. It's not for me judge, but if a film is important to one person that'd be fine.

You seem to shy away from an overt "celebrity" lifestyle, why is that?
It's just I'm not very good at it. Other people have a facility for it, but I'm not very interested in it. I'm just a bit shit at it. I realised that early on that I aspire to be good at my craft, so that's what I focus on. The less people know about you, it seems to be me to more likely you'll be able to convince them you're someone else on screen. It seems obvious, doesn't it?

Peaky Blinders airs on BBC Two at 9pm on 12 September.

From A Villainous Norse God To A Melancholic Rocker Vampire: Tom Hiddleston Talks About Versatility

0
0

It's a trick even his villainous alter-ego Loki would appreciate: avoiding being typecast.

And so Tom Hiddleston - famous from Marvel's Thor films and The Avengers - portrays a centuries-old vampire opposite Tilda Swinton in Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive and Prince Hal in PBS' upcoming The Hallow Crown.

Lovers had its North American premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

"I want to do so much more," the formally trained 32-year-old says. "There's no way any actor can stay the same. I can't repeat myself."

In Only Lovers Left Alive, Hiddleston plays Adam, a suicidal vampire living in a decayed and abandoned Detroit, while his lover Eve (Swinton) resides in Tangier. Both with covert means for getting their blood fix.

Namechecking Daniel Day-Lewis, Gary Oldman, and Jeff Bridges as influences, Hiddleston says he is most interested in exploring other stories, which, while they may be fantastical, aren't grounded solely in the superhero realm.

"I've always wanted to have a diverse career... so it's good and necessary for me to find my own way," he says thoughtfully.

Thanks to films like Twilight, playing a vampire might seem like a safe bet, but Hiddleston says Only Lovers Left Aliveuses the genre as a device to ruminate on romance and passion.

"I watched a lot of vampire films before we started ... but I knew we were inventing our own symbols ... Jim reinvented the genre in his own way."

This process of excavating new territories - even when he's on familiar ground - is something Hiddleston is mindful of with each new role he says yes to.

"I'm a collaborator, so my decisions are dependent on scripts, directors and other actors... [But] the actors I like and respect most of all are the ones who have found their own way. I don't know which way the wind is going to blow for me, but I know that I'm along for the ride. Daniel Day-Lewis is the greatest actor in the world. He has followed his nose in such an extraordinary way. His curiosity as actor seems as alive now as it did 30 years ago.

"He's interested in exploring other dimensions; other stories. Not just himself," Hiddleston continues.

"So the only rule I have is to follow my nose and stay curious."

She's engaged, and he's enraged. The drama doesn't stop on The Bold and The Beautiful.

9/9, Rick goes easy on Liam regarding Hope and Steffy; Wyatt looks forward to seeing more of Hope thanks to his company's new partnership with her.

9/10, Katie learns that she has a new ally against Bill after she meets Quinn; Brooke goes behind Bill's back in an attempt to mend his broken relationship with Wyatt.

9/11, Liam calls Wyatt out on his intentions with Hope; Brooke makes an upsetting discovery about how her relationship with Bill is negatively affecting her family.

9/12, Bill decides to mend fences with Wyatt; Hope sets Liam and Wyatt straight about what they need to do in order to stay on her good side.

9/13, An angry Katie blasts Brooke and Bill one last time before leaving town with Will; Carter uses the guise of "Room 8" to let Maya know how he truly feels about her.

Looks like Hope is doing a second round of fashion. Her new partners are Quinn (the new Taylor) and her son Wyatt. These two will begin to slither in to the Forrester Company and act like they are founding members when they introduce a new line of jewelry. Wyatt looks forward to the new business arrangement between Forrester and his mom's jewelry company to get closer to Hope. Liam, however, not so much. Hope tries to restore confidence in Liam that her business dealings with Wyatt will not affect their relationship. And how will Liam react to this? Not very well I can tell you that. Liam has turned into a spoiled brat and does not like the fact that Hope is working so closely with Wyatt.

All you Brill fans are going to be happy this couple will remain together for the long haul and get this sources tell me wedding scenes have all ready started being written for these two. I am hearing this also will be a repeat of Brooke's marriage to Ridge, on the beach, open air, yadda yadda yadda. And sadly there will be no Ridge in our futures. Brad's not going to be bringing Ridge back anytime soon and is in fact enjoying Don Diamont as the leading man paired up with KKL. According to inside info, DD is actually wanting a child for Bill and Brooke.

And what about Katie, her new BBF is Quinn and her mission is to beat Bill at his own game. Bill gets really pissed off when Katie announces what her plans are for their son Will. When Brooke hears what is going on she goes to her sister and pleads for forgiveness. Wonder how long that's gonna last?

Carter is starting to get serious with Maya now and goes out of his way to cheer her up with candles, champagne and a new idea for the upcoming season of Room 8. Will Carter ask for Maya's hand in marriage? There is a catch here let's see if you can figure out what it is.

Meanwhile, Caroline and Rick get closer but one thing prevents Rick from saying 'I do" to Caroline and it's not Maya.

Pam and Donna have a meeting with Quinn and these two are very suspicious of her.

9/9, Adam confronts Chelsea regarding the truth about Connor's paternity, while Cane and Lily's plan against Hilary takes an unexpected turn.

9/10, Sharon vows to put a stop to Nick and Avery's wedding, while Chelsea is forced to come clean with Dylan.

9/11, Friends and family gather at the Chancellor mansion for the reading of Katherine's will, while Nikki reveals an important secret to Paul.

9/12, Billy and Victoria pledge their love to each other, while Victor questions Adam's connection to the mystery investor.

9/13, Nick and Avery's wedding day offers an unexpected surprise, while Nikki makes an important decision about her future.

Adam accidentally overhears Billy and Victoria talk about Connor and that he has the retinitis pigmentosa disease which as we know leads to blindness that Adam and his mother both had. His antenna goes up and realizes that Connor is his son and not Dylan's. Without any hesitation he confronts Chelsea who continues to lie and insists that Adam is NOT the father. Dylan comes home and wants to know what is all the ruckus about. Chelsea fears that Adam will blurt out that Connor is his son but surprisingly he says nothing and tells Dylan that Chelsea will explain and leaves. Dylan asks Chelsea what Adam was talking about. Will Chelsea tell Dylan the truth and will Adam take Connor away from her?

Lily and Cane team up and stage a fight for Hilary's benefit after Lily leaves mad as they planned but just when you thought all is well in the world for Lily and Cane, Cane tells Hilary that he wished Lily was as understanding as she was. Hilary then kisses Cane. Could Morgan be in the vicinity and watching Hilary kissing Cane and then decides to let it go viral for the world to see?

The upcoming storyline for Nikki is gonna be a whopper. This is something MTS has been chopping at the bit to do. We will finally know something about Nikki's past. This particular story will pull in many residents of Genoa and it all begins from Katherine's will. Even though Katherine is no longer around she still will have alot of influence on the lives of other characters even from the great beyond.

Victor finally realizes that Nikki means more to him now then ever and he is making an effort (we know how Victor's efforts start and end) to consider how his actions will effect Nikki. One thing that Victor can not shrug off is that fact that Sharon changed the contents of the letter that said Nick was Summer's father.

Victor is still livid at Sharon for burning down the ranch and this will only make him more unyielding towards Sharon. He wants her to pay for what she did and he is going to stop at nothing. Don't look for Victor to make up anytime soon with Adam or Jack even though Nikki has asked him to do so. There are some things Victor Newman will not do.

Amber Bela Muse is joining Y&R in the role of Julie Cantrall no word on who she tested with and who she will be involved with.

The residents of PC are in a tizzy with the death of Connie. But the question is did AJ really murder Miss Falconeri? Probably not, way too oblivious but sometimes the obvious is right under our noses. As for AJ he is not down and out for long. We will finally see AJ come together and build himself back up and then AJ will finally be the man he always wanted to be and a force to be reckoned with, but alot depends on if he is accused of murdering Connie and at this point all signs point to AJ.

What I can tell you is a twist is coming and then an untwist to this story, one you never saw coming. If you know Ron then you will know he loves to boggle the viewers minds. It's one of those "Holy Crap, where did this come from story?" So pay attention children it will be very interesting.

The new guy in town Carlos is quite good looking. He starts checking around and finds out Sabrina is at Patrick's. He shows up at Patrick’s door and kisses Sabrina and tells her he wants her back and that he has changed. What he doesn't tell her is that he is working for for the mob and with Julian.

Kimberly McCullough begins taping this week. Not even KM knows how this story will play out, but Robin is on a mission to get back to the ones she loves. This will have an huge and I mean huge effect on many people in PC. There also will be other shocking folks returning with Robin that will be very exciting. We will finally get to the bottom of what has been going on with who and why. Look for Robin to first air mid October.

With their recent kiss will Sam make the choice to go out with Silas? Yes, eventually but Danny comes first and this will be a slow build up. Silas will begin to tell Sam about about his past. We will learn slowly about Ava and Silas and why they are the way they are and why Silas wants nothing to do with her. And get ready there will be someone else sleeping in Ava's bed and it's not Franco.

Peanut Butter and jelly. David and Victoria. The scratchy part of velcro and the soft part of velcro. Nail art and… football? We can dig it.

Well, now it’s easier than ever to support your favorite NFL team via nail art: Just in time for football season–which kicks off Thursday night in Denver (though we’re sure you’ve had your phone alarm set since the Super Bowl, right?), CoverGirl, the newly-anointed “official beauty sponsor of the NFL,” will be offering up custom-curated bundles of the brand’s Nail Gloss polish based on your favorite team’s logo.

The collab comes as the latest in a recent string of attempts made by the NFL to appeal to the largely untapped market of fashion-and-football-loving fangirls–remember that Marchesa collab?

Available at Covergirl.com/NFL starting tomorrow, each of CoverGirl’s 32 “fanicure” (ha! Ha-ha!) sets will include two to five nail polishes–depending on the team’s amount of colors–and will cost the standard $5.49 per bottle. And for those of you who need a little nudge in the creativity department, CoverGirl is posting step-by-step tutorials. So whether you’re supporting Tom Brady or one of the other guys (sorry, Boston girl here!) your nails can accurately represent.

Just go easy diving into that plate of cheesy nachos come game day–you wouldn’t want to chip a nail.

Doctor Who edged out the likes of Downton Abbey and Call The Midwife to scoop a brace of awards at tonight’s TV Choice Awards – but outgoing Time Lord Matt Smith could not topple former Who star David Tennant to claim the best actor gong.

Tennant, 42, picked up the award for his performance as DI Alec Hardy in whodunnit Broadchurch , winning over fellow nominees Smith, Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey and Jeremy Piven of Mr Selfridge.

Broadchurch co-star – and double BAFTA winner – Olivia Colman lost out in the best actress category to Miranda Hart, nominated for her role in Call The Midwife. Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman and Sheridan Smith of Mrs Biggs had also been shortlisted for recognition.

The ITV smash hit also picked up the Best New Drama awards ahead of The Fall, Mr Selfridge and Ripper Street.
