Jennifer Lawrence found her nude scenes for Red Sparrow empowering

0
0

She talked about choosing to go naked for Red Sparrow, her new film where she plays a Russian spy trained to use her sexuality to trap men and how that contrasted from the way she felt violated after nude photos of her that she took privately were leaked across the internet in 2014:

My character is told to strip in front of the class, and I had to strip in front of a class and an entire crew. I worked myself up [about the scene], I was really nervous. But Francis made me feel so much more comfortable. Everybody made me feel like I had clothes on. And then when I finished, I just walked out feeling empowered. I felt amazing.

Nudity by choice is a completely different thing from being violated. This was my choice, and it was for my craft. It’s important to remember that there is a difference

Riverdale Post: Most Ridiculous Storylines, "Gangbusters" Cheryl, Camila Mendes Opens Up About ED

0
0

It's Wednesday, weirdos, which means our favorite love-to-hate, hate-to-love, hate-myself trashy TV show Riverdale is back on our screens! As you all know, or are lucky enough not to know, this show is a relentlessly entertaining hot mess full of batshit, ludicrous moments that feel like writers pulled them straight out of their assholes and plopped them onto an amateur screenwriting program. Here are PopCrush's 11 (5) Most Ridiculous Storylines So Far:

2.) The Blossom-Cooper Feud is Based on Maple Syrup
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Never forget that the ultimate binding force in all of Riverdale is the almighty, omnipresent power of maple syrup, which rules over the lives of our troubled town, tangling the innocents in their dark, sticky web, pulling their strings like an evil but oh so delicious puppet master. I know the show is filmed in Canada, but are they trying to convince us it takes place there too?

4.) Clifford Blossom's Wigs
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
For a hot minute there, I thought that Riverdale was gonna go full Twin Peaks and say that Clifford Blossom killed Jason because he was being controlled by his evil, demonic wigs. But alas, he just wore them because he his hair turned white when he saw the ghost of Granpappy Blossom, which I can't tell is more or less ridiculous? According to Cheryl, he has "one for every mood", just like this OP and his fuckboys.

6.) Veronica is a Teen Mobster
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Gosh, these teen characters are just so darn relatable. Although mob princess Ronnie is kinda the most interesting she's ever been?

8.) The Red Circle
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
While some of us totally took part in homoerotic vigilante groups in high school, I guess most people didn't and think that this storyline is ridiculous or whatever. Any excuse to get Charles Melton (front right) shirtless is a fantastic creative decision in my books.

11.) Betty Becoming a Cam Girl
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Because what better way to explore a teen character's struggles with anxiety and depression than to have her descend into a world of underage cam girl-ing (at the encouraging of her long-lost psycho brother)? Once again, relatable. I mean, when I get sad or stressed I definitely make bad decisions but they don't involve ridiculous wigs (but they do involve talking to older men online *cries*). While millions of tweens across the globe cry themselves to sleep every night chanting "Bughead", this OP's biggest ship on the show is Betty Cooper and THERAPY.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa admits that Cheryl has been put on the backburner in season 2 (THAT'S RIGHT CONFESS YOUR SINS, RAS!) largely because of the closing of her family's twisted storyline from season 1 as well as the Black Hood menace that terrorized the first half of season 2. However, he says there's much more Cheryl to come (lies.gif). From tonight's episode on, we'll see a "Gangbusters" style storyline for her. Is Cheryl going to be actively trying to stop the Southside Serpents, or teaming up with them against a bigger threat? Many fans want Cheryl to be with Serpent hottie Toni Topaz, and all signs have pointed to the two getting together, so just how Gangbusters can she get when her boo is in one? RAS also says that we'll get some culmination from Cheryl's moderately toxic obsession with Josie, and that it will pave the way for a new romance for her. Listen, RAS. Lesbians and bisexual women have been through enough in regards to their representation on TV. Is it so much to ask that we get a healthy wlw relationship that doesn't involve stalking, gaslighting, and cutting someone off from their beloved Pussycat sisters?

Camila Mendes bravely opened up once again about her past struggles with body issues and an eating disorder, sharing an inspirational body positivity quote with a caption detailing her own personal struggles:

"...I’ve been following @thechainnyc - and having that constant reminder to love my body (especially on instagram where my feed is full of perfect pictures and “perfect bodies,” and especially being in front of a camera every day playing Veronica, who adores her tight mini skirts) is just enough to clear my head of all the negative voices that creep in every once in a while. Our minds can get so contaminated with endless images of perfection, and even if you don’t suffer from an eating disorder, it can’t hurt to incorporate a little body positivity into your routine. Take care of yourself in every way that you can..."

Celebrities Mourn John Mahoney's Passing + His Best Episodes and Moments on Frasier

0
0

– John Mahoney, most well known for Frasier, passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 4th at the age of 77.
– Cast members
like Kelsey Grammer, Peri Gilpin and other celebrities have been expressing their condolences on social media. Unsurprisingly, a lot of media outlets are omitting mention of him being gay. His on-screen son David Hyde Pierce (Niles Crane) is also gay.
– John was nominated for two Emmys in his role as Martin Crane, the working-class father of his eccentric and neurotic sons Frasier and Niles, and moved in with the former after an accident in the pilot of Frasier. The show went on for 11 seasons. Martin was a beloved character for his humor and warmth, and often displayed more street smarts than his sons in making jabs at them, but always loved them no matter what.
– Below, I've compiled some of his best moments and episodes. (I only let myself choose two episodes per season for the most part or else the list would be very long)

https://instagram.com/p/BQsc31_lahr

Season 1 Episode 6: The Crucible
Frasier throws a cocktail party to exhibit a new painting he has bought, but is humiliated when the artist shows up and declares it a forgery.

Season 1 Episode 21: Travels with Martin
The Cranes and Daphne go on a road trip in a Winnebago, but a quick trip across the Canadian border causes certain complications.

Season 2 Episode 13: Retirement Is Murder
Frasier is excited when he believes that he's cracked Martin's long-unsolved case, the "Weeping Lotus" murder.

Season 2 Episode 20: Breaking the Ice
Martin prepares for his annual ice-fishing trip, but when Duke cancels, Niles volunteers to go along, wanting a chance to bond with his father. Frasier does so too, ruminating that his father has never in his life said "I love you" to him.

Season 3 Episode 3: Martin Does It His Way
The boys discover a box full of song lyrics that Martin wrote for Frank Sinatra; with their help, he sets one to music and sends it off. Frasier tries to compose a sincere eulogy for a despised late aunt, while Niles tries to find the perfect place to scatter her ashes.

Season 3 Episode 16: Look Before You Leap
In honor of February 29th, Frasier encourages the people around him to "take a leap" and do something outside their comfort zone. Unfortunately, their attempts result in failures and make him have doubts about his own leap.

Season 3 Episode 18: Chess Pains
Frasier buys an elaborate antique chess set, but becomes obsessed by his inability to win against Martin.

Season 4 Episode 8:Our Father Whose Art Ain't Heaven
Martin accompanies Frasier and Niles to their favorite restaurant, where Frasier heaps praise on the hideous paintings that the owner has bought to secure a good table. Martin and the boys get into a fight over who should pay the check. Later, Martin feels bad and makes up by buying Frasier one of the paintings. Frasier can't bear to tell him the truth.

Season 4 Episode 12: Death and the Dog
Eddie is feeling depressed, and Martin calls a dog psychiatrist. Frasier and Niles make fun of the idea, but ruminating about the possible reasons for Eddie's funk leads them to dwell on all the reasons to be unhappy with their own lives.

Season 5 Episode 9: Perspectives on Christmas
While receiving massages for their holiday stress, each member of the Crane family relates the story of the last few days, with subtle differences based on their own perspectives [...] Martin rehearsed a song with an impossibly high note to appear in a Christmas pageant.

Season 5 Episode 14: The Ski Lodge
Roz wins a weekend at a ski lodge, and trades it to Frasier. Daphne invites along her friend Annie, a swimsuit model. Frasier is taken with her, but she is interested in Niles. Added to the mix is their very handsome French ski instructor, Guy. Daphne is taken with him, but he is interested in Niles. That night, confusion runs rampant.

Season 6 Episode 6: The Secret Admirer
An anonymous person leaves an expensive gift in Frasier's squash bag, with a note pleading for a second chance. Thinking he has a secret admirer, Frasier excitedly calls a host of old girlfriends, in spite of the fact that he's already in a promising new relationship with Nancy, a former co-worker.

Season 6 Episode 24: Shutout In Seattle (Part 2)
Part Two of Two. Niles has started dating Kit, a wild waitress from Cafe Nervosa. Frasier becomes increasingly worried about Niles when he begins to adopt Kit's wild, free-spirited approach to life. Meanwhile, Martin is upset with Bonny when her dog, Lady, begins dominating Eddie and Frasier is even more worried about his situation with Faye when Cassandra begins popping back into his life.

Season 7 Episode 7: A Tsar Is Born
The rift between Martin and his sons' tastes is bridged when they find they are all fans of "The Antique Roadshow." The boys have a great time watching it on TV, and when the Roadshow comes to Seattle, they all go.

Season 7 Episode 15: Out With Dad
Fraiser's new girlfriend thinks Martin is gay and tries to set him up with her uncle.

Season 8 Episode 15: Hooping Cranes

Season 8 Episode 17: It Takes Two to Tangle
Frasier and Niles throw a fancy party to try to convince Penelope, the trustee of a foundation, to donate money to the failing prep school they attended as children. Martin hits it off with her and they go on a date, but afterward he meets another woman named Estelle and decides to date her as well. He's confident in his juggling abilities, but isn't nearly as good as he thinks. The sons race to try to get the money before Martin drops the balls.

Season 9 Episode 4: The Return of Martin Crane
Martin goes back to work as a security guard, and reflects on his last day as a cop, when he was shot.

Season 9 Episode 7: Bla-Z-Boy
On their 8th anniversary of living together, Frasier accidentally destroys Martin's recliner.

Season 10 Episode 13: Lilith Needs a Favor
Lilith asks Frasier to donate his sperm so she can conceive another child; Niles treasures an erotic photograph which he thinks Daphne took for him.

Season 10 Episode 22: Fathers and Sons
Leland Barton, Hester Crane's old research assistant, visits Seattle. He is so alike in personality to Frasier and Niles that Martin starts to wonder who is the boys' real father.

Season 11 Episode 9: Guns 'N Neuroses
[...] Martin's pistol accidentally discharges inside the apartment, creating a trail of destruction that he, Daphne and Niles try to hide from Frasier.

Season 11 Episode 11: High Holidays
Frederick visits Frasier in Seattle, and the family is shocked to see him going through a "Goth" phase. The family talks about the rebellious phase of a child's life, and Niles is stung to hear Martin say that he was always one of the good kids. He decides to rebel by consuming a pot brownie supplied by Roz, but hijinks ensue when Martin eats it.

Honorary Mention: John appeared on Cheers before being cast for Frasier...

Cheers – Season 11 Episode 5: Do Not Forsake Me O' My Postman
Because Gary's Olde Towne Tavern is advertising heavily, Sam and Rebecca decide to hire an ad company to write a jingle for the bar. As Rebecca has only $200 to spend on such, the ad company foists Sy Flembeck (John Mahoney), their resident hack writer, onto the Cheers account.

ONTD, who are your favorite TV fathers? Favorite Martin moments and episodes? Also, if you haven't watched Frasier before, there's still time to atone.

Russell Wilson has been traded to the Yankees

0

- Ciara husband and Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has been traded from the Texas Rangers to the New York Yankees, where he will be assigned to their Double-A team and partcipate in the Yankees spring training camp in Florida.

- Wilson played football and baseball in college, and was drafted by the Orioles after high school and by the Rockies while in college. He’s always wanted to play for the Yankees, and when you have 27 rings, why not run spring training fantasy camp?

- The Yankees now have a better QB than the NY Giants, Jets, and Mets.

- This is one of the most noteworthy off-season moves this winter, coming at a time when fans are grumbling about tanking, and players (even ones who’ve already got their payday) about billionaire owners colluding to drive free agent contracts down.

Bryan Fuller Leaves Another Show, This Time on Apple TV

0

– Fuller has left Apple TV's Amazing Stories citing "creative differences", a revival of the Spielberg anthology series from the 80's, focusing on weekly tales of the fantastic, horrifying, and supernatural.
– Amazing Stories is one of Apple TV's first major TV deals, one of many (DC, Disney, etc.) looking to enter the streaming industry with original content. Spielberg himself is also producing it. Fuller joined back in October 2015 when it was originally going to be on NBC (home of Hannibal and Fuller's Mockingbird Lane pilot).
– Fuller recently left season two of American Gods, presumably over creative differences, budget, and its faithfullness to the source material, but the rift was supposedly worse than originally thought, including push back from Neil Gaiman himself.
– He's currently working on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles for the newly-branded Paramount channel, also eager to enter the long-format industry with major TV deals (which involved dumping The Shannara Chronicles just a few weeks ago).

Pray that he finds something to stick with, bc if he thinks he's bringing back Hannibal I've got a surprise for him.

Mod post!

0
0
So for those who didn't see this morning's roundup Brenden is leaving ONTD. blacktinboxzyuranger and I will be the maintainers and there are currently no other changes to the mod lineup or to any of the rules.

We will be keeping up with the weekday ONTD roundups and FFAF. Valenstans are also still happening!

I'm reposting the rules for making an ONTD post since it's been awhile and I'm sure everyone could use a refresher. AFTER you've read them please feel free to comment with any questions/concerns/non-tag related suggestions (yes we are going to have a tag suggestion post soon).

CONTENT. As the old timers remember, years back we used to be able to post articles in full. This ended when LJ cracked down and starting banning people for copyright infringement. If you don't want to be permanently banned from LJ don't post copyrighted text. When posting an article please include at least a line or two of summary in your own words. The same goes for vids. Also please remember that hotlinking images and gifs is not allowed. And if your post has multiple tweets or videos you should add a cut.

POLITICAL POSTS Since Trump was elected we've been more lax about letting these through. However these should be posted as "Celebs react to" posts with a minimum of 5 celebs reacting. Journalists and the Pod Save America guys do not count as celebs either.

INSTAGRAM. We are still getting this one several times a day so we thought we would spell it out here again. You can post embeds from Instagram on Livejournal but you cannot copy / paste their embed code directly. If you do this your post will be rejected since the embeds are broken. In order to get Instagram pots to embed you need to copy the URL of the post (i.e. https://instagram.com/p/06SuTXwzMd/) and paste the URL into the Insert Media tool.

REJECTION NOTICES.These are sent out every time a post is rejected. I cannot stress this enough. They go out automatically every time. Before you start freaking out that no one ever told you why your post hasn't gone up please check the spam folders on the email affiliated with your Livejournal account. Even if they have not gone to this folder before please check it because it might have ended up there. If you still think you aren't receiving these then please contact LJ support and they should be able to help you further because they are definitely being sent. Also, please read your rejections and make adjustments to your post. Sometimes we'll reject a post because of an issue that's laid out in the rejection notice only to have a person resubmit the same post six times (no exaggeration) with the exact same issue which just gets everyone involved frustrated.

LISTING SOURCES.Your source needs to be easily identifiable at a quick glance. When submitting a post please make sure that you have the word "Source" somewhere by your sources. This doesn't mean that every link needs to say "SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE". You have a few options here for single sources like "Source: [Site where content comes from]" and when you have multiple sources you can spell them all out or just have "Source 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5" with each being linked appropriately. Even if you're typing out the full URL of your site at the end of the post the link should be preceeded by the word 'source'.

TWITTER SOURCES. This one is a two parter. 1.) If you are using a twitter as your source then the tweet you are sourcing must be embedded in your post. 2.) If you are using twitter as a source please try to give us more information than just the tweet. This is a bit of a judgment call because some tweets speak for themselves. Like if the whole story is something like "Bendysnicker Cabbagepatch cast as Doctor Strange" then that's really all the information that we need, it's a complete story. Some require more information so please don't be afraid to include your own bullet points / highlights / summary so that we know what we're talking about and / or why we should care about this particular story :)

BANNED SOURCES. Just a reminder that a list of banned sources can be found on our profile page. You can also still use embeddable material from banned sources as the whole point of something embeddable is to share it so there's no change here. However writing things in posts like "according to a banned source" is really old meme and about 75% of the time the sources that are being referenced aren't even banned. Moving forward these posts will be rejected and you will be asked to resubmit with different text.

BROKEN/OBSOLETE SOURCES Reminder that Imgur no longer works on LJ so please don't use them to host your images. Also Getty Images changed their embeddable code awhile ago so that it no longer works on LJ either unfortunately.

TITLES. Just make sure a title of a post gives us a clear picture of what the post is about - Who, what, where, why, when etc. Ideally these should be pretty straight forward. Use celebrities full names in the post title instead of jokey nicknames. Editorializing should be saved for your OP note :)

TAGS. Don't be afraid to use a lot of tags on a post! We have plenty of tags for individual actors and different film genres. There are also film trailer / stills and television promo / stills tags which aren't used that often. Even if you're posting a promo for a show that has it's own tag since it's a promo the television promo / stills one should also be used.

OT COMMENTS. Again these are technically against the rules. You can basically go OT daily in Round Up and we have FFAF just for this purpose. If you're in a regular post though at least try to make your initial comment related to the post before you ultimately go off on your own issues. OT comments particularly on the first page of a post or in death posts are rude and tacky so lets try to cut back on these.

REPORTING. Occasionally we will get people saying things like why hasn't so and so been banned for things that they have said and done several months ago. More often than not these instances were never reported. There are a hand full of mods here but this is a massive community and there are a lot of posts / comments to read through. We do not see every comment on every post, especially when some threads continue days after the fact after a post has initially gone up. If you have an issue with someone or see rule breaking please report it. We can't do anything if we don't know about something. You can report by PM'ing a mod directly. Please do not try to "page" a mod (tagging one of our usernames in a thread) as this function no longer appears to be working and hasn't done so for months. Also do not contact LJ support for an issue you have with a user because you're just going to confuse some tech people who have no affiliation with this community.

BE NICE. You don't have to like everyone here and you don't have to agree with them either but please don't get personal and start attacking one another. If someone is getting nasty with you let a mod know. If you start flinging insults back at them chances are you're both going to get banned in the process. It seems that we always have to go over this but it is what it is. Calling another member a cunt is personal attack... calling one of the celebrities someone is posting about a cunt is not. It is possible to get in even a pretty intense argument / disagreement with someone without resorting to personal attacks and name calling.

HAVE FUN. Brenden leaving feels like the end of the era. But ONTD will continue on!

Jimmy Fallon as Bob Dylan updates "The Times They Are A-Changin'" for 2018

0

After facing endless criticism and plunging ratings following the infamous Tr*mp hair ruffle, Jimmy "I don't care about politics" Fallon has finally mustered up a response that doesn't involve participating in a sad photoshoot atop "The Tonight Show" marquee at 30 Rock. Fallon has decided to board the woke train and has performed an updated version of Bob Dylan's classic "The Times They Are A-Changin'" for 2018. The lyrics mull over the Me Too movement, taking a knee and freedom of the press. For example: "Come women and men who hashtag Me Too, And believe me when I say that we believe you, For weak is the man who calls truth "fake news", Time’s up, our silence we’re breaking, And even though Mel Gibson was in Daddy's Home 2, Well the times they are a-changin'."

Riverdale Post: Most Ridiculous Storylines, "Gangbusters" Cheryl, Camila Mendes Opens Up About ED
