The Spice Girls reassembled at Geri "I left the group for a shitty solo career and crushed your childhood" Halliwell's house along with Svengali manager Simon Fuller in talks for projects that we would shamelessly throw money at. After previously expressing her reluctance, Victoria Beckham reportedly agreed to join forces after receiving assurances that she wouldn’t have to lend her vocals to the project. The Spice Girls have reportedly agreed to reunite for the first time since 2012, with the iconic girl group set to receive £10 million each for a series of new projects. The re-branding of Girl Power includes: TV shows in China, a new telly talent show, endorsement deals and a compilation album celebrating their greatest hits.

Riverdale Post: Interview with Lili, "Fight Club" Theory, KJ Cast in New Rom-Com + Mads Does Yoga

$

-Discusses the mind-blowing rise to fame that Riverdale has brought her, says that Cole Sprouse brings her and the rest of the cast "down to Earth" about the fame game. Says he has a "nice, calming energy" (OP requests receipts)
-Enjoys playing Betty because she has both light and darkness in her, relates most to her anxiety and stress
-Inspired by Demi Lovato, Lili has been very vocal about her mental health struggles, wants to end the stigma and shame that come with depression/anxiety (Nice one, Miss Lovato!). Has received positive feedback from fans who say her vocalness has helped them.
-About the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements:
"It’s disturbing how seemingly commonplace this has been for this long. It’s disgusting that there are so many women and men who have stories about being sexually harassed in their workplace. I think that the men and women who are harassing—Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K., Kevin Spacey—are getting exactly what they deserve, and they brought it upon themselves. By all means, strip these people of their careers because they don’t deserve it. It's justice at its finest."

-A popular fan theory questioning the relationship between Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and FBI Agent Arthur Adams (John Behlmann), seems to think it's a Fight Club situation where Agent Adams exists solely in Archie's mind, as he's the only one whose ever had any interaction with him so far
-Archie Andrews and Arthur Adams have the same initials
-They also have the same backstory, having grown up in Riverdale with their father and dog
-Agent Adams mysteriously is able to get into Archie's garage multiple times without his dad or neighbors noticing
-Archie's hallucinations could possibly be in response to the extreme PTSD he's suffered over the last year from the Black Hood, and feeling a need to keep his father and Veronica safe, which is something he constantly gets reassurance for from Agent Adams
-Most importantly, why the fuck would a trained FBI agent ask for help from TV's dumbest high school sophomore?

-Miss Grundy-in-training KJ Apa (20), who is currently in a relationship with a 16-year-old girl, has been cast as the lead in upcoming romantic comedy ensemble The Last Summer
-Comes from screenwriter brothers Bill and Scott Bindley with a polish by April Prosser (Plus One)
-"Follows a group of young adults whose lives intersect in Chicago over the summer before they start college" (groundbreaking.gif)
-No word yet on if KJ will be playing an adult in a relationship with a teenager, even though he's method acting that irl

-http://picasion.com/gl/8Xwj/, shining beacon of ginger light, uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel where she engaged in a hilarious partners yoga session with rapper/"actor" boyfriend Travis Mills, who is a step-up from Aaron Carter but OP is still cautious of
-Remains fun and adorable and shows off her amazing and healthy body hopefully inspiring the rest of us plebs to get our butts in shape!

Pile of Shit Woody Allen's French distributors defend him, saying attacks on him are a witchhunt

In series 12 of 'the French are fucking insane', Stephane Celerier, the head of Mars Films which distributes Allen's fucking awful movies in France (BTW Wonder Wheel is bombing hardcore there), totally backs Allen, says the allegations should not be compared to Harvey Weinstein, and that Allen's been wrongly caught up in the #metoo movement as “shameless opportunism” that takes away from the real victims. There's way more garbage at the source.

Says this French asshole: “It seems clear to me that Woody Allen should not be classified in the same category as the sexual predators recently denounced by Hollywood and end his days as a pariah whose work should be burned.”

Force of Nature

Five women go on a hike. Only four return. Jane Harper, the New York Times bestselling author of The Dry, asks: How well do you really know the people you work with?

When five colleagues are forced to go on a corporate retreat in the wilderness, they reluctantly pick up their backpacks and start walking down the muddy path.

But one of the women doesn’t come out of the woods. And each of her companions tells a slightly different story about what happened.

Federal Police Agent Aaron Falk has a keen interest in the whereabouts of the missing hiker. In an investigation that takes him deep into isolated forest, Falk discovers secrets lurking in the mountains, and a tangled web of personal and professional friendship, suspicion, and betrayal among the hikers. But did that lead to murder?

Feel Free

Arranged into five sections--In the World, In the Audience, In the Gallery, On the Bookshelf, and Feel Free--this new collection poses questions we immediately recognize. What is The Social Network--and Facebook itself--really about? "It's a cruel portrait of us: 500 million sentient people entrapped in the recent careless thoughts of a Harvard sophomore." Why do we love libraries? "Well-run libraries are filled with people because what a good library offers cannot be easily found elsewhere: an indoor public space in which you do not have to buy anything in order to stay." What will we tell our granddaughters about our collective failure to address global warming? "So I might say to her, look: the thing you have to appreciate is that we'd just been through a century of relativism and deconstruction, in which we were informed that most of our fondest-held principles were either uncertain or simple wishful thinking, and in many areas of our lives we had already been asked to accept that nothing is essential and everything changes--and this had taken the fight out of us somewhat."

As Bright as Heaven

In 1918, Philadelphia was a city teeming with promise. Even as its young men went off to fight in the Great War, there were opportunities for a fresh start on its cobblestone streets. Into this bustling town, came Pauline Bright and her husband, filled with hope that they could now give their three daughters--Evelyn, Maggie, and Willa--a chance at a better life.

But just months after they arrive, the Spanish Flu reaches the shores of America. As the pandemic claims more than twelve thousand victims in their adopted city, they find their lives left with a world that looks nothing like the one they knew. But even as they lose loved ones, they take in a baby orphaned by the disease who becomes their single source of hope. Amidst the tragedy and challenges, they learn what they cannot live without--and what they are willing to do about it.

As Bright as Heaven is the compelling story of a mother and her daughters who find themselves in a harsh world not of their making, which will either crush their resolve to survive or purify it.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark

A masterful true crime account of the Golden State Killer—the elusive serial rapist turned murderer who terrorized California for over a decade—from Michelle McNamara, the gifted journalist who died tragically while investigating the case.

"You’ll be silent forever, and I’ll be gone in the dark."

For more than ten years, a mysterious and violent predator committed fifty sexual assaults in Northern California before moving south, where he perpetrated ten sadistic murders. Then he disappeared, eluding capture by multiple police forces and some of the best detectives in the area.

Three decades later, Michelle McNamara, a true crime journalist who created the popular website TrueCrimeDiary.com, was determined to find the violent psychopath she called "the Golden State Killer." Michelle pored over police reports, interviewed victims, and embedded herself in the online communities that were as obsessed with the case as she was.

I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death

We are never closer to life than when we brush up against the possibility of death.

I Am, I Am, I Am is Maggie O'Farrell's astonishing memoir of the near-death experiences that have punctuated and defined her life. The childhood illness that left her bedridden for a year, which she was not expected to survive. A teenage yearning to escape that nearly ended in disaster. An encounter with a disturbed man on a remote path. And, most terrifying of all, an ongoing, daily struggle to protect her daughter--for whom this book was written--from a condition that leaves her unimaginably vulnerable to life's myriad dangers.

Seventeen discrete encounters with Maggie at different ages, in different locations, reveal a whole life in a series of tense, visceral snapshots. In taut prose that vibrates with electricity and restrained emotion, O'Farrell captures the perils running just beneath the surface, and illuminates the preciousness, beauty, and mysteries of life itself.

And by Facebook, I really mean social media in general.

"The reasons are simple, I started Tweetin''bout pimples;
I stopped livin' for moments and started livin' for people."

Pure poetry!

Freddie Highmore

Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bates Motel, The Good Doctor

Freddie Highmore has made it very clear over the years that social media is not for him. He has stated before that having any sort of Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram account and focusing on building those platforms is not something he is interested in doing, and considers himself lucky to not have to rely on it and lose sight of reality. He credits this (along with his parents) as to why being a child actor never got the best of him.

"No, I'm very backward in that way; I don't have Twitter or Facebook or anything. [...] I've always enjoyed the separation of my normal life - schooling, university - and that being completely distinct from acting. And I think that's kind of kept me grounded to a certain extent."

Mila Kunis

Mila's husband, Ashton Kutcher, has stated many times in the past that both of them aren't willing to choose a public life for their kids before they get a chance to make that decision themselves. Although he does have a Twitter and an Instagram account, he rarely posts any updates and never posts any private photos of his wife and kids. Mila Kunis, on the other hand, just isn't about that life. Period.

"What I do and who I am are two different things and, to me, it was always really important to keep those things separate. I don’t want people thinking they know me to the point where they feel comfortable coming in my house without being invited. For security reasons, it just wasn’t worth it. I’d rather have my privacy over anything."

Jennifer Aniston

Being scrutinized over tired, old news for years has probably showed Jennifer Aniston the value of privacy more than she would have otherwise. She is also very uninterested in utilizing any social media platform to control her own narrative, nor does she want anything to do with the unrealistic goals that surrounds these sharing applications. Though, does respect how much businesses can benefit from it all.

"I like to talk to people. People are too into these phones. [...] I don't want to just say whatever I feel, just put it out there. That feels very irresponsible. It's reckless!"

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have both steered clear from the spotlight they once had during their teen years. Mary-Kate has dabbled into acting more than Ashley has 一 who completely quit that side of the camera in 2004. Both are extremely private, but Ashley is very evidently the more private of the two, stating that Twitter gives her anxiety and that she's done with being the pretty face and center of attention on camera. Mary-Kate herself has said before that she feels safe around Ashley because she gets so nervous in big crowds that she always knows where the exits are. Megan Fox, who worked with them on 'Holiday in the Sun' when they were 15, once commented on the twins' social awkwardness within large groups of people.

Mary-Kate: "We've spent our whole lives trying to not let people have that accessibility, so it would go against everything we've done in our lives to not be in the public."

JK Rowling on the Dumbledore sexuality controversy + an interview with Matthew Lewis

  • The shitstorm that David Yates caused with Fantastic Beasts 2 is only intensifying. First, Collin Farrell getting replaced by smelly domestic abuser Johnny Depp, then Allen-supporter Jude Law as Dumbledore, culminating in Yates to essentially use the Hide Your Gays trope and not explicitly show Dumbledore's sexuality on-screen in the film has led to...less than positive reactions. Now, authoress J.K. Rowling felt the need to add her two cents in to the mess.

  • “Being sent abuse about an interview that didn't involve me, about a screenplay I wrote but which none of the angry people have read, which is part of a five-movie series that's only one installment in, is obviously tons of fun,” she wrote sarcastically on Twitter. Note that she also defended Johnny Depp's casting in the film, which proves that rich white blonde women that build themselves up from nothing care she cares only about the magical dollar signs in the air.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Matthew Lewis, aka Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter films, is opening up about his latest project.
  • He currently stars in BBC's Girlfriends alongside Miranda Richardson and Madame Hooch herself, Zoe Wanamaker.
  • "I play Zoe Wanamaker’s son, Tom–Gayle’s son. In the series, he’s straight out of prison. Tom has a son of his own whose mother is a heroin addict. He’s got custody of his son but unfortunately Tom is very immature for his age and relies very heavily on his mother. Because of that, the choices he’s made in life have been less than exemplary. I look at it as someone who’s made some bad calls and is desperately trying to find some money for his family, but for all his faults, his family is everything to him."
ONTD Investigates: Is Justin Timberlake One Of The Worst Pop Lyricists Of Our Time?
$
0
0
As you all know, Justin Timberlake has dropped his new album, Mayo of the Woods. ONTD hates it, obviously. But it's not just us and our forever bitter and bitchy ways - actual music reviewers hate it too!
-"He seems to be unwilling to stop cherrypicking from musical genres song-to-song and smudging out everything that is good about them."
-Winston Cook-Wilson for SPIN Magazine
-"No"
thelove_witch for ONTD
Common amongst the reviews and reactions this era is a whole lot of confusion and disbelief at some of the truly awful lyrical content JT has been supply-y-ying. A lot of the lines feel awkwardly written, clichéd, or just straight up lazy. Each ONTD post for the four singles that have been released featured at least one comment about Timberleech's shitty lyrics:
Filthy:"i thought the line 'all my haters gonna say its fake' sung by an almost 37 year old man was hilarious, tbh." -she_can_rock
Supplies:"The song just by itself is not catchy and his vocals and lyrics suck and who the hell wants to hear justin sing over a trap beat?" -zhenyaodin2
Say Something:"sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all? fuck outta here lmao" - electrifyyy
Man of the Woods:"'But then your hands talkin', fingers walkin'/Down your legs, hey, there's the faucet.' keep it" - erika92
When did Justin start butchering the English language so mercilessly? Let's investigate.
Man of the Woods (2018)
Filthy:"I said, 'put your filthy hands all over me' / You know this ain't the clean version / What you gonna do with all that meat? / Cookin' up a mean servin', huh."
Say Something:"Sometimes, the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all." (Keep in mind that this song, by his own admission, was written after he was called out for cultural appropriation on twitter and responded like a condescending douchebag).
Supplies:"I don't know if you remember this, but I was out of town / Flew in on a 3 AM just to show up and hear your sounds (the multiple times!)."
"Now I wanna know everything / Don't leave a single detail out / I'll get mine later, just fell out / It makes me a generous lover."
Man of the Woods:"But then your hands talking / fingers walking / down your legs, hey, there's the faucet."
Sauce:"Ooh, I love your pink / you like my purple / That colour right between those / that's where I worship."
Higher Higher:"I might as well have been some butter / melting all over, girl, what?"
He also wrote an entire song about a flannel shirt that comes right after we listen to Jessica Biel do an interlude (Hers) about how she feels when she wears Justin's shirt, calling it "armour" that lets her understand Justin better. She also says it makes her feel like a woman (Justin is credited as the only writer on this track, btw). It's the most pretentious piece of spoken word you'll ever hear about a fucking shirt.
Was it always this bad? Let's take a look:
The 20/20 Experience (2013)
Did you cringe when Justin felt the need to let you know that he loves his wife's "pink" and she likes his "purple?" Well then you might also hate the poetry found on The 20/20 Experience:
Strawberry Bubblegum:"If you’ll be my strawberry bubblegum / Then I’ll be your blueberry lollipop / Little girl, won’t you be my strawberry bubblegum / Then I’ll be your blueberry lollipop / And then I’d love you ‘til I make ya pop."
"After I break you down my fingers / it’s so sweet / That’s what you told me when I touched on your lips / Towel under the door, girl, before they pick up your scent, ah." (This song is 8 minutes long by the way).
Suit & Tie:"Stop, let me get a good look at it / So thick, now I know why they call it a fatty."
Spaceship Coupe:"I don't want to be the one to alienate, yeah (alienate) / You see, I'm trying to find the alien in you (you) if it's cool (cool)."
You might argue, "yeah so what? It's pop music!" Well, keep in mind that JT has often been referred to as the new "King of Pop" and is one of the biggest male pop stars on the scene right now. Sure, the music itself often delivers courtesy of long time collaborators like Timbaland and The Neptunes. But the thing is, if his lyrics aren't making you cringe, at the very least they're poorly written and clichéd:
That Girl:"Now we didn't have to fall, but we fell in love to the bottom babe / No one's there to catch us, like when you fell from heaven that day, baby."
I personally don't believe that pop music needs to be completely devoid of lyrical content. And yet, while combing through this pop superstar's lyrics for this post, I didn't see a single line that jumped out at me for being a well-written or interesting lyric. Not one. The lyrics are regularly the weakest part of his songs and the part that Justin himself is most responsible for since his collaborators are the ones giving him the beats and production help that his albums have become known for.
Let's keep going:
Future Sex/Love Sounds (2006)
Now this is the album that really solidified Justin's place as a pop music icon. Future Sex/Love Sounds had a string of number 1 hits, was overall positively reviewed by critics, and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2007 Grammy Awards. It was the album that finally showed the public that he wasn't just an ex-boyband member but that he was a solo artist in his own right.
The lyrics here may not be so obviously embarrassing as the previous ones mentioned (I mean, the album is called Future Sex/Love Sounds, so it's not completely lacking in the eye roll department) but they are still shoddily crafted (Justin even goes so far as to completely make up words to shoe-horn them into his rhyme scheme) and very repetitive. Most artists seem to progress as songwriters as their careers carry on, but Justin was always a poor lyricist and has only gotten worse.
Was the success of this album the reason for Timberlake's stunted growth as a songwriter? Did he realize that he didn't have to actually try with the lyrics if the beats and production values were strong enough? Or is he simply just a bad lyricist but too cocky to realize it and too egotistical to ask for help?
What Goes Around...Comes Around:"When you cheated, girl / My heart bleeded, girl."
Screenshot by shittysoup from dictionary.com
Losing My Way:"Hi my name is Bob and I work at my job / I make forty something dollars a day. / I used to be the man in my hometown until I started to lose my way." (This is a song about crippling substance abuse, by the way).
Summer Love/Set The Mood (Prelude):"Do what I gotta do, just gotta show you that I'm the one, girl / Well I'mma freak you right / each and every night / I know how to do it insane, girl /
Cause I can make it hot / make it stop / Make you wanna say my name girl."
Timberlake has a penchant for rhyming the same words over and over again. In the above example he rhymes "girl" with "girl". He relies on the word so frequently in his lyrics that there only seem to be a handful of his songs that don't include the word "girl".
Pose: "I pursued ya cause I couldn't stand to wait / Let's date / That'd be great."
Justified (2002)
His debut solo album. Although a lot of the lyrics are simplistic and juvenile, this album isn't as bad as his newer offerings. This fact highlights that Timberleech is still entirely dependent on the people he works with and that he's shown absolutely zero growth towards becoming a stronger songwriter after decades in the music business.
Take It From Here:"I wanna be your lake or your bay / And any problems that you have, I wanna wash 'em away / I wanna be your sky / So blue and high / And everytime you think of me, I wanna blow your mind."
"I wanna be your broadway show on review (why?) / So I can act out how God was when he made you." (Fuckin' what!?)
Cry Me a River:"Now there's just no chance / With you and me / There'll never be / Don't it make you sad about it?"
Rock Your Body:"So go ahead, girl, just do that ass shakin' thing you do."
Nothin' Else:"Look, I'll be your confidant / Tell me anything /But please start it off with how you tuck your wings."
"Since you're an angel, baby your job's never done/Too bad the world won't see you when they dial 9-1-1."
"Girl, I say an ultimatum's for you / But you'd probably take that and just run / Now I gotta decide if I'mma help raise your mind / Seems like the ultimatum's on me that's no fun." (I'm not even 100% these are the proper lyrics. I tried to make sense of them when I listened to the song but...well...it's Timberlake so who the fuck knows).
Let's Take a Ride:"Girl you're the best / You could be / An angel among society / But you get crushed / From what you see / You try too hard to help and that's enough for me."
Thank you for your time.
In a sit-down for David Letterman's new Netflix show, the actor opens up about the way he first met his wife, Amal.
Clooney recalls: "A mutual friend of ours said, 'I’m stopping by and can I bring my friend?' And I was like, 'Of course.' I got a call from my agent who called me and said, 'I met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry.'"
George's parents were present for the meeting, too. "And the funniest thing was my mum and dad were visiting so my parents were there and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking.”
“And then, you know, I got her email address ‘cause she was going to send me some pictures of my parents and then, we started writing and I didn’t really, I didn’t know if she wanted to go out with me. I just thought, you know, we were buddies."
The Clooneys have now been married for three years.
Justin Timberlake Sidesteps Woody Allen Questions "I chose not to get into it"
$
0
0
During an interview with THR about his family, future and being friends with Jimmy Fallon (ugh), Justin Timberlake was asked about his upcoming movie with Woody Allen and the controversy surrounding the director.
In typical JT fashion, Mr. #TimesUp deflected like he always does:
Of course, for serious thespians, the ultimate status symbol remains a part in a Woody Allen movie, even if these days that honor is mixed with moral complications (Timberlake sidesteps the ethics:"I chose to not get into it — I really don't dive into any of that stuff with anybody"). Like all of Allen's productions, this one is shrouded in secrecy, and Timberlake is keeping his lips sealed. Although judging from photos leaked in the fall of Timberlake on the set in a lifeguard chair wearing a 1950s-style two-piece swimsuit, Coney Island may figure into the plot. In any case, for Timberlake, it's yet another step up a ladder he never imagined he'd find himself climbing."I can't really say that doing a Woody Allen movie was ever on my bucket list," he says, "because I never even thought that doing a Woody Allen movie might be a possibility."
