Allison Shearmur died on Friday from lung cancer at age 54. She helped produce The Hunger Games films as well as Rogue One and the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Last year she said of her daughter:

"It is the hope that my daughter will navigate a world where success is based solely on the power of one's ideas, character, and strength of will rather than acquiesce to an outmoded set of assumptions about gender."

Shearnur was a quadruplet and is survived by her siblings, parents, husband, son, and daughter.

Terry Crews on Time’s Up Movement

“For everyone saying time is up, is it really up? Adam Venit’s working. There’s no repercussions.”
“You can see it right in front of your eyes. I don’t even have to say anything. Can you get away with doing something like that to another human being? And the answer is yes, cause he’s working. What else can I say?”

“I have to say I was victimized but I’ve made the choice to not become a victim. And that’s the thing: I did everything I’m supposed to do, with the police, the law enforcement. I’m doing everything I’m supposed to do in regards to lawsuits, and I plan on going all the way because until you hold everyone accountable every time, nothing will change.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones defends playing a Latina character in Cocaine Godmother

0
0

Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Colombian drug lord in the new Lifetime movie Cocaine Godmother: The Griselda Blanco Story.
The Welsh actress addressed criticism over the role’s whitewashing.

“This is just the way I see it, and people can take what they want from it: I am a Welsh actress, who doesn’t happen to look like what you think someone from Wales would look like. I have my own language; I speak Welsh. And so, for me to wait for a role that is fit for the way I look physically, that is not a Welsh role, where I don’t use my accent—I never use my accent. Have you ever heard me use my accent that I’m speaking with right now?”

"This happens to be the third Hispanic I’ve played. I played the lead in Zorro, and I screen-tested with six Hispanic women, and I got the role. I don’t know what to say. And I was a complete unknown at this point; it wasn’t because I had a name or box-office value. Four of the actresses are my contemporaries to this day. I played a woman of Spanish descent in Traffic as well. I have to take the roles I believe I can embody. I can’t be the person to fight against a very big issue, and I won’t take on that role. There have been so many actors who have played ‘against type.’ That’s sort of what we do.”

"I’m all for diversity, and diversity across the board. Not just color, race, sex — everything. I want to see more diversity behind the camera. This is a white man’s business, and now, hard to believe after all of these years, we’re finally trying to break that glass ceiling.”

Heathers Showrunner Explains Why the New Heathers Are Now from Marginalized Groups

0
0

Jason Micallef, who essentially has a very bare IMDB with his most notable credit being the Jennifer Garner film "Butter", gave an interview on his reasons for switching up the titular Heathers.

“The main thing to really take away is I don’t view the Heathers as the villains. The three Heathers are incredibly powerful and ruling the school; they’re the people you would want to be. In the original film, the Heathers were the ones I always loved, and it’s the same with the series. The Heathers are the aspirational characters. [That the Heathers are the villains is] the underlying thesis of the small segment of people that have an issue with it. The villain is J.D. — and that’s the same in the movie and same in our show.

“The reason I changed the Heathers surface identities is I think today rings true. Today, all different types of people are more aspirational. People that wouldn’t have necessarily been considered the most popular kids in school in 1988 could very well be — and probably most likely are — the more popular kids today. And also because it’s a TV show, we have so much more time to explore their characters and get behind it. Of course, no one’s seen the show yet. Once they see it, I think they’ll get what we’re talking about.”

Shannen Doherty will guest star in several episodes along with Selma Blair and Casey Wilson.
