TV Shows to Avoid if You're Easily Offended (or a "Snowflake")

0
0

Apparently, after Friends was added to Netflix, a bunch of people (who are referred to as "millennials" and "snowflakes") took it to twitter to complain about how the show is fat-shaming (jokes about Monica's weight) and homophobic (Chandler being ashamed of his drag queen dad) and saying the show's jokes are outdated for the current climate.

The article takes it upon itself to act as a guide for the enraged millennials and consists of shows to avoid such as:

The Office
Insensitive jokes about race, a misogynist boss and all around offensive jokes.

Will & Grace
Gay stereotyping and Jewish jokes.

Rest of the shows to avoid include Peep Show, The Inbetweeners and Gavin & Stacey.

Netflix' movie 'Step Sisters' premiered today despite controversy regarding cultural appropriation

0

-The movie is about the president of a black sorority who gets asked to teach one of the white sororities how to dance for a competition so she could get into Harvard. The movie explores cultural appropriation in many forms and is not about the stepping only.

-This premise got a strong reaction on twitter with people protesting. The leads in the movie say that you can't judge the movie before you watch it. The movie shows fighting against prejudice, yet people let prejudice discourage them from watching the movie.

"I understand why some people are put off by the log line," Echikunwoke said. "But it's one of those movies where you have to watch it."
Jervier added: "The stepping and humor put honey on what might be a tough pill for people to swallow. You receive a message without you knowing you're there to get one."
-"The people who made this film are in the culture depicted," the writer of the movie said, noting that writer Chuck Hayward ("Fat Camp," "Dear White People") and Jones himself are both members of black greek-letter organizations. "We understand the special nature of black greek organizations and we're paying homage to that and creating some space where we can have some dialogue about it."

"This film is very aware of itself,"the producer said, "No one is trying to be offensive. At the end of the day, the film is about sharing culture. Culture is meant to be appreciated and explored by everyone."
Echikunwoke, the star of the movie agreed, saying she "understand[s] and empathize[s] when people feel like someone is taking ownership" of their culture.
"As long as you are honest about where it comes from and make it more of a celebration of someone's heritage, I think that's a great thing, to celebrate people and other art forms," she said. "The problem comes when you try to say 'this is mine.'"

Mo’Nique Slams Netflix For Offering Her Less Money Than Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle

0
0

“Hey my loves, I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias. I was offered a $500,000 deal last week to do a comedy special. However, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, $20 million. Then Amy Schumer went back and renegotiated 2 more million dollars because she said, ‘I shouldn’t get what the men are getting, they’re legends. However I should get more’ and Netflix agreed.

When we asked Netflix to explain the difference, why the money was so different, they said, ‘Well, we believe that’s what Monique will bring.’ We said, ‘What about my resume?’ They said ‘We don’t go off of resumes.’ Then we asked them, ‘What was it about Amy Schumer?’ and they said, ‘Well, she sold out Madison Square Garden twice and she had a big movie over the summer.’ Is that not Amy Schumer’s resume? And then Netflix said, ‘By the way, we believe Monique is a legend too.’ Why shouldn’t I get what the legends are getting? Please stand with me in this boycott of Neftlix. I love us for real.”

Riverdale's KJ Apa Lies in Bed With Another Dude, Like OMG Is He Gay???

0

Could we have gotten him all wrong? Instead of a douchey straight bro, is KJ Apa one of us queers? Does our fair Ginger Judas really like to bounce his bussy all over some quality diq?

No, he's just bro-bonding with his best buddy, New Zealander model Boston Ridge:
https://www.instagram.com/boston.ridge/

Here's some proof that KJ is the skeezy heterosexual we all know and love:

-KJ has been dating a 16-year-old girl from Vancouver for the last few months
-Allegedly both their families know and are cool with it
-While technically not illegal because the age of consent in Canada is 16, as well as KJ's native New Zealand, it's still gross and weird and we should def judge him
-Reminder that KJ considers himself "Christian"

Samantha Bee fires back at #MeToo critics, addresses Aziz Ansari accusations

0
0

Highlights :
“It doesn’t have to be rape to ruin your life, and it doesn’t have to ruin your life to be worth speaking out about. Any kind of sexual harassment, or coercion, is unacceptable. So what the fuck are women supposed to do to protect ourselves? If we go public with a story, we're petty crybabies hell-bent on destroying men's careers. If we write a secret list to protect each other, we're gossipy shrews telling lies in the shadows. What men literally cannot understand is, this isn't about them."

"It's harder than you think to leave when you're uncomfortable or scared. For example, you're scaring the shit out of me right now, Ashley Banfield, and I can't leave. And it's not just Ashley. A lot of people are worried about Aziz Ansari's career, which no one is trying to end because, again we know the difference between a rapist, a workplace harasser, and an Aziz Ansari, that doesn’t mean we have to be happy about any of them."

“People like me had to wade through a sea of prehensile dicks to build the world we know and enjoy. And part of enjoying that world is setting a higher standard for sex than just not rape. And women get to talk about if men don’t live up to those standards. Especially if that man wrote a book about how to sex good,”

“I’m sorry you thought you got to choose what experiences we can share about the shitty ways we’ve been treated. And to men specifically, I’m sorry our request to respect makes office culture a little less fun and flirty… If you don’t want to tune into your partner’s feelings throughout sex, maybe you shouldn’t be fucking a person at all. Men: If you say you’re a feminist, then fuck like a feminist, and if you don’t want to to do that, take off your fuckin’ pin, because we are not your accessories.”

Esther McGregor, the 15-year-old daughter of actor Ewan McGregor, posted a video of herself on Instagram singing a song which she wrote apparently slamming her father's relationship with his Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

McGregor left Esther's mother, Eve Mavrakis, for Winstead after 22 years of marriage. The Sun published the first photos of McGregor and Winstead kissing on Oct. 22nd, which just happened to be Esther's 15th birthday.

"Seeing those pictures, they're making me cry...Happy Birthday to me, am I right?" Esther sings in "Made You a Man".

"I don't know how to forgive. I don't know if I can. Ruining me sure made you a man", the lyrics continue.
