Fan Mistakes Mark Walhberg For Matt Damon

Mark Wahlberg played it very cool when a fan mistook him for another well-known Boston actor, Matt Damon. The fan and her friends posed with Wahlberg and then shared photos of their encounter, boasting "We saw Matt Damon!"

Wahlberg never let on that the fan had made a mistake and later posted the photos to his Facebook account, saying, "Close enough." The fan later realized she'd ID'd the wrong guy, saying, "He didn't correct us at all, LMAO."

Wahlberg and Damon co-starred in 2006's The Departed, and recently tried to get competing Whitey Bulger biopics off the ground, with the mobster favoring Wahlberg.
There'll be more competition this weekend at the box office: Damon's new movie, Elysium, hits theaters today and Wahlberg's 2 Guns was number one last weekend.

'Pacific Rim', 'The Lone Ranger', And The Necessary Evil Of 3D

The big and somewhat unexpected box office news last weekend was the mammoth debut of Pacific Rim in China. The monsters vs. robots epic pulled in $45.2 million, a record debut for a Warner Bros. film in China, bringing its overseas total to a robust $200 million thus far.As of Sunday, the film had racked up $293 million worldwide, with several high-profile foreign debuts, such as Japan, still to come. Point being, for better or worse, the film may end up being successful enough overseas to merit a sequel. On the flip side of that coin, The Lone Ranger continues to struggle both here and abroad. Not only is it not going to get to $100 million domestic, but it has just now crossed $175 million worldwide after over a month of play. There are a number of reasons why Pacific Rim is doing better than The Lone Ranger (and no, we film critics didn’t kill The Lone Ranger), but at least one reason worth noting is that one film went out as 3D and the other went out as 2D.

Domestic audiences may be choosing 2D in greater and greater numbers, but 3D is still a massive draw in overseas markets around the world, or at least accepted as a new normal for viewing Hollywood exports. Salute Gore Verbinski‘s insistence on going the old-school route all you want (and I do, on an artistic level), but a 3D The Lone Ranger would surely be making more than a 2D one purely by virtue of higher ticket prices, to say nothing of general overseas pull for 3D in the current worldwide box office environment. And Guillermo del Toro may have “lost” the fight with Warner Bros. over 3D conversion, but his film is now reaping the overseas rewards from that decision. Is it now borderline financially irresponsible for mega-budget blockbusters, especially non-sequels, to enter the international market place in just two dimensions?

In today’s marketplace, where a big-budget film’s financial fate is often decided by overseas dollars, it’s almost fiscal self-injury not to make the call. For anywhere from $10 million to $20 million extra, you can add around 15-20% to your opening weekend grosses (think around 40% of tickets sold via 3D and prices around 33% higher per 3D ticket) and around 15% to your total domestic box office, with an un-quantifiable upshot for foreign grosses. For numbers like that, why wouldn’t you convert your purely commercial popcorn genre film to 3D? That’s why it was an obvious call last year when Paramount delayed G.I. Joe: Retaliation so they could convert it to 3D. The result was a $371m worldwide gross (compared to $300 million for the first film) on a lower budget ($130m vs. $175m), at least partially due to the overseas drawing power of 3D.

It’s not an exact science of course. Last year saw two films in 2D (The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall) cross $1 billion worldwide. Universal’s (at the moment) current worldwide box office champ is the 2D Fast & Furious 6 ($771 million) while their biggest flop, R.I.P.D. ($48 million on a $130 million budget) went out as 3D. But if you look at both the majority of the big worldwide live-action hits of summer 2013 (Iron Man 3, World War Z, Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel), they are pretty much all 3D save for the aforementioned Furious 6. And if you look at the alleged flops of summer, you’ll notice that White House Down, The Lone Ranger, and After Earth all did the “honorable” thing and went into wide release as purely 2D engagements. Correlation does not equal causation, but when every penny counts, why not pay for the conversion and reap the potential overseas windfall?

Unless you’re a comedy (The Heat, Grown Ups 2), or a cheap horror film (The Purge, The Conjuring), you’re basically taking a gigantic financial hit to the chin right out of the gate by forsaking 3D release. At least during summer 2013, if you want to be a blockbuster, you basically have to cope with the perhaps unwanted 3D conversion. To do otherwise is basically to leave money on the table, money which can mean the difference between a hit and a miss in regards to large-budget spectacles. Last summer’s Snow White and the Huntsman in 2D is barely a hit at $396 million worldwide thanks to its $175 million budget. But in 3D with an estimated 15%-20% worldwide bump, the film is now looking at $450m-$475m worldwide for the same general cost. Fox ‘s Rise of the Planet of the Apes would have likely crossed $200 million in America and $500 million worldwide with a 3D theatrical distribution purely by virtue of the 3D ticket price bump.

The foreign pull of 3D is partially why 20th Century Fox let Ridley Scott accept that R-rating for his $130 million Prometheus last year, and the film earned over $400m worldwide despite grossing just $126m stateside. Going 3D means that G.I. Joe: Retaliation gets to $371m and Star Trek Into Darkness gets to $450m despite weaker domestic totals for both compared to their respective predecessors. In 2D, The Wolverine would be, at best, barely over $200m worldwide at the moment, yet now it sits with $255m after around ten days. With 3D, After Earth would surely be looking at around $300m worldwide. In 3D, Battleship may well have crossed $350m worldwide, while a 2D John Carter would have lost even more money. The movie is the movie, but 3D makes big films bigger and helps big flops earn just a little more when every dollar counts. Artistic intent aside, in this current environment, where 3D is still a major deal overseas, a 3D conversion basically amounts to money for nothing.

A 2D Iron Man 3 still would have been a massive smash, even if it may not have crossed $1 billion. Perhaps a 3D Lone Ranger would have merely done Green Lantern numbers ($116 million US, $219 million worldwide), and we’re still not getting a Dredd 2 since the 3D comic book reboot still tanked late last year. And two films arguably in theaters mostly for the alleged pull of 3D (Percy Jackson: The Sea Monsters and Disney’s Planes) will fly or fall based on their overall appeal to moviegoers. The other major release this weekend, Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium, is bravely going out as 2D only, but the film’s $90 million cost mitigates its need to become an all-out global blockbuster. Ditto the slew of young-adult fantasy would-be franchise starters such as Beautiful Creatures, The Host, City of Bones: The Mortal Instruments, and Divergent. 3D would surely help in the very least for the higher ticket prices, but the films are cheap enough to forgo the conversion (all cost well under $100 million).

But for mega-budget films like World War Z and Pacific Rim, especially when you’re dealing with non-sequels, the overseas draw that is 3D may make the difference between a minor financial miss and a possible franchise. Would World War Z be racing towards $500 million worldwide had the Brad Pitt vehicle been released purely as 2D? Precedent says possibly not. For just an extra $10-$20 million, why not convert the film and go for those inflated grosses? If Pacific Rim does make its way to $400 million worldwide, it will be in part due to the financial overseas drawing power of that 3D conversion that Guillermo del Toro only begrudgingly accepted. It was a no-brainer for the $180 million Legendary Pictures production. Heck, arguably a big-scale monster movie is just the sort of thing that defined 3D back in the 1950′s, but either way the film is doing much better than expected overseas, which is at least partially due to that 3D conversion.

So where does this leave those of who dislike 3D? Well, fortunately for domestic audiences, studios have wised up over the last two years and offered plenty of 2D viewing options for most of their major 3D would-be tent poles. Generally speaking, the only people “forced” to see 3D films in 3D are people like me, film critics who attend the press screenings which are usually in the 3D format. But in terms of whether or not to release your major would-be franchise entry in 3D, we may have reached a point where, especially for non-sequels, going out as 2D only is financial suicide. It’s not impossible. The Twilight Saga did it five times in a row, and the first Hunger Games made $691 million worldwide in glorious 2D. But once you reach a certain budgetary figure, say $130 million, unless you’re a sequel or you have a guaranteed built-in audience, 3D has become perhaps a necessary supplement.

It is sad to say for those who prefer old-school glorious 2D (especially 2D IMAX), but for as long as overseas audiences are still flocking to 3D Hollywood productions, it may well be financially irresponsible for would-be tent poles to go 2D.

Logan Lerman interview with Moviefone

logan-lerman-percy-jackson

Logan Lerman made his first on-screen appearance in 2000's "The Patriot" opposite Mel Gibson, and has since worked with some of the biggest names in the movie business, from Russell Crow to Jim Carrey.

In 2010, things got even bigger for Lerman when he landed his first franchise, signing on for the title role in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." Now, after a critically acclaimed performance in last year's "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," the actor once again returns to play the son of Poseidon.

Below, Lerman talks about filming "Percy" in the New Orleans heat, his new role opposite Brad Pitt, and the eccentric musician he would love to play one day.

Compared to "The Lightning Thief," this movie seemed more epic and immersive. Was it harder to shoot? Was it more fun than the first?
I mean it was really different working with Thor Freudenthal as opposed to Chris Columbus. He's a very different director, tonally. The movie itself, as you know, is much lighter and fast-paced than the first film and, yeah, I guess the work felt different because of that. But, you know, they're both fun movies to make, they're just different experiences.

I'm sure. Like that amusement park scene, that must've been fun.
Oh yeah, it was a good time. I mean a little grueling. We were outside of New Orleans in, like, the middle of August, working all-nighters for a month and a half and it was a hundred degrees and humid.

The movie also seems like it's more in line with the books. Was that important to you, to represent the fan base of the books?
Yeah, it is [more in line with the books]. In a way, I mean, that was more of the studio's intention, to please the fans, and I'm kind of the guy who gets the script and works with the material. But, I definitely think fans of the books will be more happy with this one than they probably were with the first one.

Have you seen the fan base grow from the first one?
I've noticed it kind of take off. I think going into it now more people know about it than they did the first film.

So, have you had any crazy fan encounters?
Nothing too crazy, but you know, there have been some experiences [laughs]. Nothing too insane, but some people just get very, very excited over it.

You did a lot in terms of movies from the first 'Percy' to the second. Do you feel like you brought anything different to the character this time around that you didn't have the experience to the first time?
I mean, I really don't feel like I did much different. I guess I'm always learning and growing, but for this it was just kind of like putting on the old shoes again, getting back into that mode.

Now, in terms of the roles you play, you choose a wide variety. Is that a conscious effort for you to not get typecast or stuck doing one thing?
Yeah, I think it would be boring to do the same thing over again, and I'm kind of just attracted to hard roles - something that seems difficult that I'm not sure I can do. But I also just like filmmakers. So, if there's a great filmmaker out there, I'm going to try to be a part of their project.

Are there any filmmakers you are dying to work with?
David Fincher is really one of them. I really am a big fan of his. And, like, Spike Jonze, the Coen brothers. But, they're dreams, and I feel really fortunate to have worked with some filmmakers that I really appreciate.

Do you have a preference about what you do when it comes to franchises as opposed to stand-alone movies?
The idea of a franchise is a little daunting because of just the whole - when you're doing it that usually means you're signing on for more than one and that can be kind of scary. So, I guess with stand-alone movies there is comfort in knowing that there's just one and that's all you're going to do because the rest of the fat isn't in your hands after that. You know, unless you're producing it or something. But, yeah, I don't really have a preference. If the material is good and there is a good filmmaker doing a franchise, I'll be stoked.

Switching gears a little - I read that you play a few instruments. So, if could play any musician, who would it be?
Cool. That's a good question. Um, God, there are a few musicians that would be cool to play just because they're like crazy cool characters. Elton John would be interesting. I don't know if I could do it, but it would be cool.

I think you can pull it off.
I don't know if I could. I wonder. I like him a lot as a musician, though. Also, what's his name of Joy Division? They made that cool movie on him. I think it would be fun to play him. Ian Curtis! He's a cool character. There are so many. Lou Reed would be interesting.

I know you're working on "Fury" with Brad Pitt now. How's that going? Did you start filming yet?
No, we haven't started filming yet, but we're in the training process now, which has been intense and cool. But we're going to start filming soon. I'm excited about that. We have a good cast.

And you visited Fort Irwin as part of your prep, right? How was that experience?
Yeah. It was really interesting and really eye-opening learning about the army and their training.

Was that something you were interested in before you got the part?
I didn't really have, like, a knowledge about it. I never really looked into the military or anything, but now I'm kind of diving into it. But, it's so specific. This ["Fury"] is World War II, so the army has changed a lot since then. What we were learning about there is very different from what we're going to be doing in the movie. But I am learning about WWII and I'm pretty fascinated by that.

And working with Brad Pitt, have you asked for any words of wisdom?
No, I haven't asked him for any advice or anything, but we're all kind of learning together about all this. We haven't really spent much time together, but he's a nice guy. It's going to be a crazy, crazy movie to film.

DJ Fresh "gutted" Girls Aloud song 'On The Metro' wasn't a single

DJ Fresh has revealed that he was "gutted" that his song with Girls Aloud 'On The Metro' wasn't released as a single.

The producer, who co-helmed the song with group member Nicola Roberts, admitted he was annoyed when he discovered it wouldn't be serviced as a single.

"I'm really gutted it didn't get released, it's so annoying," he told Digital Spy. "It's basically one of those things that's decided by people that sit in record label offices and determine what we're all going to hear on the radio every day."

"Who is it that gives these guys the power? They're not always right."

He added: "I'm not dissing anyone in particular with that track, but it's amazing that one or two people in a boardroom determine what's going to be released and what isn't."

Asked if he would work on any of the Girls Aloud members' solo projects, he said: "I'd love to work with any of the Girls Aloud girls solo. I didn't meet Nadine, but I'd love to as the others were all really sweet.

"For me, Nicola felt like the most driving force from a writing point of view, so doing something with her would be great."

'On The Metro' featured on Girls Aloud's greatest hits album Ten.

Wrapping up some general Disney news from the week's Quarterly Report and D23.

Disney Quarterly Report flat with Lone Ranger losses
The Walt Disney Company reported quarterly results for its third fiscal quarter with earnings per share increased to $1.03 from $1.01 during the same last year but revenue missed the mark overall at $11.58 billion, down from Wall Street expectations of $11.64 billion.

“We are pleased with the results we delivered in the third quarter,” said Disney CEO Robert A. Iger in a statement. “We are confident that our strategy of creating high-quality branded content positions us well for the future.”
Studio entertainment dipped 2% from last year to $1.59 billion in sales with “Iron Man 3,” ESPN and “Monsters University” helping offset “The Lone Ranger’s” pre-released marketing costs.

Box office underperformer “The Lone Ranger,” which was released July 3 and won’t impact the studio until next quarter, could cost the studio as much as $190 million in Q4.

Media Networks was one of the few highlights of Tuesday’s earnings report, with revenues increased 5% to $5.4 billion and segment operating income increased 8% to $2.3 billion.
Parks and Resorts also increased 7% to $3.7 billion and segment operating income increased 9% to $689 million.

The theme parks have especially performed strongly for Disney, with Rasulo saying that investments to upgrade Walt Disney World and Disneyland “continue to pay off.” Overall, attendance at its domestic parks rose 3% and set new attendance records during the company’s third quarter.
Disney said it hasn’t seen “any backlash” from recent price increases at its theme parks. In fact, California Adventure is continuing to see strong attendance levels after the opening of “Carsland” last year. “California Adventure is lapping the success of a year ago, a bit,” Iger said.
While Walt Disney World will add an “Avatar”-themed park at Animal Kingdom, no opening date has yet been announced. “It will be a couple years out, at least,” Iger said.
Additional plans to upgrade Disneyland will also be announced over the next couple months, Iger added.
Disney’s stock rose $1.03 to close at $67.05, gaining nearly 1.6% on Tuesday but shares lost that ground in after hours trading, when the stock fell $1.05 to close at $66.

Will the Third Time Be the Charm for Disney's D23 EXPO?

Starting tomorrow, Disney fans from around the world will be pouring into the Anaheim Convention Center, eager to sample all of the wonders that the Mouse will be unveiling at this year's D23 EXPO, a trade show / Comic-Con clone that the company presents biannually.

"What sort of wonders?" you ask. These will range from relatively intimate, heartfelt affairs -- like that panel Disney author Dave Bossert will be hosting on Friday afternoon which then pays tribute to the late Roy E. Disney -- to celebrity-filled extravaganzas which will be presented inside of the cavernous Anaheim Arena. Which is where Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures will all be offering sneak peeks at upcoming projects at these elaborate presentations which will be held on Friday & Saturday morning respectively.

Mind you, when there are 45,000 die-hard Disney fans who are expected to take part in this three day-long event and your biggest onsite venue only seats 4000, there are bound to be some disappointed people who get turned away. So what has the Official Disney Fan Club done out ahead of this year's event in an attempt to mitigate that disappointment? As Steven Clark -- the head of D23 -- explained in a recent interview, his organization has taken the hard lessons that it learned at the first two EXPOs to heart. Which is why -- for the third go-round of this Ultimate Disney Fan Event -- D23 has put a number of changes in place that it hopes will lead to a better overall guest experience for EXPO attendees.

"One of the great things about the team at D23 is we really do listen to feedback from our members. This year we added a 2,000-seat overflow theater for the D23 Expo Arena so a guest who may not make it into an arena presentation will still be able to see these spectacular events such as Disney Legends, the presentations from The Walt Disney Studios and 'The Disney Songbook' concert with Richard Sherman and Alan Menken," Clark stated. "We also expanded the capacities for Stage 23 and Stage 28. To help alleviate lines, we create StagePass this year, which works similar to FASTPASS and will allow guests to pick up tickets for presentations in Stages 23 and 28. And we created a more dynamic D23 Expo mobile app with complete schedules, talent bios, a show floor map, trivia and much more."

So will these changes be enough to placate D23 members, who are among the most passionate & dedicated Disney fans on the planet? Who, more to the point, were very quick to jump on Twitter and Facebook back in 2009 and 2011 and then complain bitterly about how they were being forced to stand in a lengthy queue in order to see a particular panel or presentation. This is why Clark and his team decided to developed StagePass, which will allow event attendees to obtain free tickets that then guarantee them a spot in many panels ahead of time. Provided -- of course -- that they actually show up 20 minutes ahead of when these presentations are supposed to begin.

And once these D23 members no longer have to wait in hours'-long lines in order to guarantee themselves a seat at a particular panel or a presentation... well, it's hoped that these people will now go off and explore the show floor, where they'll then discover some of the real treasures hidden there. Take -- for example -- the collector's forum, which is where much beloved fan artists like James Silvani and Amy Mebberson will be selling prints and doing sketches over the course of the show.

Just please keep in mind that the D23 EXPO is a dynamic event and its schedule in ever-changing. Take -- for example -- that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. screening, which will now help close out the show on Sunday afternoon. The screening of this highly anticipated ABC pilot was only just added to the EXPO's schedule this past Tuesday.

So with the help of StagePass and that new mobile app, Clark and his team are hoping that the third time really will be the charm for the D23 EXPO, which officially gets underway tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. out on the Grand Plaza in front of the Anaheim Convention Center, which is when Disney will be unveiling Dr. Doofenshmirtz's most evil "inator" yet, the Waffle-inator.

Yes. You read that right. A Waffle-inator. Ask your family's resident Phineas & Ferb fan. They'll be able to explain it to you.

In A Tomorrowland Not So Far Away: The announcements Disney can't make at D23

On Friday, almost every public-facing division of the Walt Disney Company will arrive in Anaheim to host the bi-annual open house known as D23 Expo. The Burbank teams will try and create buzz for the media networks and movie studios with star power, while less savvy divisions like Disney Consumer Products will simply roll out a static display of stuff to buy like at any home show or mall, and the Imagineering group from Glendale will be muzzled from saying much of anything about the very real projects they’ve got coming to the American parks in the next few years. In this update we’ll get you up to speed on just what those projects currently are for the Anaheim parks, why they won’t say much about them at D23, and what else is coming to Anaheim before the bulldozers arrive.

After the D23 Expos in 2009 and 2011 when senior execs gave splashy keynote addresses revealing big new theme park projects, it was a surprise to Disney fans when the D23 Expo schedule was announced and Tom Staggs wasn’t listed as a keynote speaker and no Parks & Resorts session was scheduled for the Anaheim Arena. If the schedule is to be believed, no major announcements of new products and upcoming attractions will be announced at this D23 Expo. Although WDI has expanded the footprint of their super-popular pavilion, and it’s really the crowd generator for the entire weekend amongst the smaller and more mundane displays from Consumer Products, the Internet Group, or ABC Television. But the interior of the WDI pavilion will house displays and exhibits of how Imagineers go about their work, a cautiously staged open house of sorts, instead of revealing any of the new rides and shows they are actually working on in Glendale.

Although a few carefully edited images will be placed around the pavilion for sharp eyed fans to find; like sketches of the Star Wars land project coming to both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, or of the Monstropolis miniland and Door Coaster E Ticket planned for DCA. But overall, D23 Expo has been neutered of nearly everything that helped it create what buzz it had in ’09 and ’11.

It’s not that WDI doesn’t want to share their new toys, it’s just that the timing isn’t right for the corporate bean counters to be announcing major new capital expenditures just yet, and officially the Door Coaster and Star Wars projects have yet to be greenlighted by Burbank. There’s also another round of white collar layoffs coming to TDA (Team Disney Anaheim) and TDO (Team Disney Orlando), after similar downsizing happened at ABC, the Studios and ESPN in recent months. And Jay Rasulo as Disney’s CFO has been telling New York bankers for the past year that Disney is scaling back on their parks investments after going big with over 1 Billion at DCA in recent years, plus two new cruise ships, Aulani, and New Fantasyland. After that much capital expenditure, the Wall Street crowd wants to see a company scale back and earn back some of that investment before they announce more spending. And finally, the MyMagic+ program at WDW has had more hiccups than successes thus far and is still far from a full rollout and thus isn’t ready for prime time and a major public reveal at the Expo. The timing of the D23 Expo in early August, agreed to over a year ago, just isn’t right for big parks announcements this year. Perhaps if it had been held in October or November, when most of the current projects will have a better chance of being announced, then D23 Expo could have offered big news for theme park fans.
(The source for this has A LOT more of projects that are actually getting more time on D23, but lbr they are snorefests no1curr about fixing the GAC problem more than the new attractions)

Adele, Lana Del Rey Rivals Mix Erotic Harmony on Albums

iPFtUArMaKkM
Record companies are on the hunt for women stars. Adele, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey and Pink have been outselling many of their male counterparts.

Here are a few names to watch

HAIM
haim
The three Californian sisters and their drumming buddy in Haim have yet to release an album, but they are already hyped to the heavens -- deservedly so. Just last night it was confirmed that “Days Are Gone” will be out on Polydor on Sept. 30.

Songs on their “Forever” EP have some serious don’t-mess-with-me vibes: “I never wanna see you again/ With the beating of my heart witness/ I say no no no, I’m done.”

The comparisons with Stevie Nicks-style Fleetwood-Mac aren’t just lazy journalism in the year of a new tour by the veterans, who have a 35th-anniversary edition of “Rumours.”

Haim covers the fellow West-Coast-based group’s “Hold Me,” and rather well as it turns out. There are also echoes of Janis Joplin and some splashy guitar that would do Bob Seeger or Tom Petty proud.

AZEALIA BANKS

tumblr_m4ramu8kqb1qc9cjho1_500
Azealia Banks has also yet to release an album but her sets at the Governors Ball in New York and Glastonbury showed that the hit “212” will be far from the best thing on “Broke With Expensive Taste,” due later this year.

EMELI SANDE
sundays-song-L-FMD6pG

Many people will already know of the new Adele. Her first name is really Adele, though she uses the rest of her name Emeli Sande.

For someone who’s only been going a couple of years, Sande has a lot of poise.

She comes teetering on in her big heels and higher Mohican hair and has the chutzpah to open her shows with maybe her best known song, “Heaven.” Oh, the confidence of a 26-year-old with the world at your feet. She keeps “Next to Me” for an encore.

Those who have missed out on the shows can catch up with the primer “Live at the Albert Hall.” It’s another parallel with Adele, who also did a live recording there.

In a little over a year, the former medical student has played the opening and closing shows of the Olympics, got married and had Britain’s biggest selling record, “Our Version of Events,” which is now available with extra tracks.

She is one of the most petite actresses in Hollywood, famed for her toned physique. But size 6 Jessica Alba, 32, is on a mission to convince the world she is just like the rest of us as she claims to suffer a multitude of body hang-ups including stretch marks, cellulite and a muffin top.

'Let's face it, I don't have the body of a 14-year-old anymore,' said Alba. 'I think the more we try not to have that unrealistic ideal, the happier we'll be.'

Speaking to Women's Health magazine, the actress confessed: 'I have cellulite and stretch marks - and I have a muffin top!'

But her fans will be hard pushed to spot any of these complaints, even after two children her washboard stomach and slim limbs remain perfectly sculpted.

Eloise Parker, a pop culture expert on Entertainment Tonight, says it is surprising to hear the actress making these comments.

She told MailOnline: 'I was on the beach next to Jessica Alba in Mexico earlier this year. She definitely turned heads with her long, lean limbs and flawless skin, playing with her kids in her tiny bikini. 'In fact, I not only admired her stunning figure, but also her confidence in showing it off, so it surprising to hear her make these comments.

'Perhaps she's trying to sound humble, but if an actress renowned for her fabulous body can't appreciate her good looks, it just makes it even harder for regular women, who are inspired by girls like Jessica, to feel good about themselves.'

Alba claims that she finds exercise too boring and struggles to keep up with her fitness regime: 'I have a brutally short attention span. It means I'm useless at working out. I get so bored.'

The star has previously confessed to spending three months strapped into two girdles following the birth of her second child, Haven.

'It was brutal; it's not for everyone,' she said speaking with Net-A-Porter magazine.

'I wore a double corset day and night for three months. It was sweaty, but worth it.'

Honestly, The Honest Company is Getting on My Nerves

Have you heard about the fight that's brewing between Jessica Alba's Honest Company and the popular mom blogger Honest Toddler?

ja23

Let me break it down for you. Honest Toddler is a hilarious woman who tweets and blogs from the wickedly funny point of view of a toddler. Honest Company is a corporation that sells baby crap. (Not actual baby crap, but you know what I mean.)

taliandmama2-530x409

Long story short, a few months ago Honest Company started poking Honest Toddler and demanding that she give up her attempt to trademark her name. Ummm, excuse me? Why does Honest Company want Honest Toddler not to trademark her own name?? Because Honest Company thinks people are dolts and will confuse the two Honest names, so no one can have "Honest" except for them. Riiiiight. Have you ever eaten a bar of Dove soap thinking it was Dove chocolate? Of course you haven't, because you're not an idiot. Wait. Maybe that's what happened! Maybe Jessica ate soap accidentally and realized how easy it was to confuse the two Dove brands and thought to herself (as her mouth foamed with soapy bubbles) If I could confuse these brands, people might confuse Honest Company with Honest Toddler! I have to stop this from ever happening! She quickly rinsed out her mouth with Honest Water (if it doesn't exist yet, it will) and called her lawyer in an attempt to protect her "brand" and "intellectual property."

8350417

Honestly, I think that's bullshit. I don't believe a word Honest Company is saying.

You know what I think? I think a big corporation saw a chance to bully and scare a mom blogger with a popular site and steal her name and hopefully confuse HER fanbase to follow a diaper company instead of a sassy toddler. Read more...

Bruce Willis dropped out of The Expendable 3 because he wasn't getting paid a million a DAY

Source: Bruce Willis Left 'Expendables 3' Over $1 Million-a-Day Fee Demand

A source says the actor was offered $3 million for four days of work shooting in Bulgaria but said he would drop out if he didn't get $4 million.

Sylvester Stallone let the world know Tuesday that Bruce Willis was out of the upcoming The Expendables 3 for being "greedy and lazy," and it seems that laziness was not the primary issue.

Stallone raised eyebrows in Hollywood by tweeting "WILLIS OUT . . . HARRISON FORD IN!!!! GREAT NEWS!!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!," then following up with a second tweet reading "GREEDY AND LAZY . . . A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE."

A source with knowledge of the situation says the fallout was over a specific money demand. Willis was offered $3 million for four days of consecutive work on location in Bulgaria for the film. "He said he'd drop out unless he got $4 million," this source close to the production says. "A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no."

Stallone then quickly reached out to Ford, who was game to join the Expendables cast.

The insider adds, "I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford -- a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film."

Vicki defends Ryan attacking Lydia's mom: ‘There was a lot more’

Staff Sgt. Ryan Culberson, a joint terminal attack controller with 11th Marines, out of Camp Pendleton, Calif., is currently deployed to Afghanistan on his fourth tour. Culberson married his wife, Briana, in 2012. She is the daughter of Vicki, who just wrapped up her eighth season of the show.

Culberson is under fire for comments he made during a recent episode of The Real Housewives. Ryan, found Lydia’s mother, Judy Stirling, with her feet up on a couch. The Twitter-verse had a lot to say about the altercation.

First, it seems like it’s water under the bridge for Lydia and her mom. While Lydia tweeted she has “Nothing but #love for @vgunvalson,” Judy told her Twitter followers that she’s “taking the high road.” She wrote, “Because we are all one when we forgive others we forgive ourselves, which is the first step in the healing process. I'm trying to forgive.”

When a Twitter user suggested Ryan and daughter Briana should move out of her house, Vicki replied, “They had already moved out and was visiting from his base. There was a lot more to the night that wasn't shown.” Interesting, considering Ryan told Lydia’s mother, “I live here” — after starting to say he owned the place.

When someone accused Vicki of being a push over and allowing Ryan to control her home, she defended herself: “I never let Him walk over me, nor anyone! You are grossly mistaken,”.

RHOA Season 6: Is Mynique Joining the Cast?

It looks like there may be a new Housewife in town!

While nothing has been confirmed, the stars of Real Housewives of Atlanta have been spotted around Georgia, reportedly filming with a brand-new cast member. NeNe Leakes even tweeted the above photo with her potential new co-star on August 6, writing, “Me & my girl @mynique1.”

Mynique’s full name is Mynique Smith, and she is the wife of former Atlanta Falcons player Chuck Smith. Again, Bravo hasn’t confirmed any new additions to the RHoA cast, but Mynique has been spotted with our gals on more than one occasion.

In addition to her photo with NeNe, the potential newbie was also spotted with Mrs. Leakes, Porsha Stewart, Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, and Cynthia Bailey in Savannah, Ga., where the gang was apparently filming for Season 6.

A passerby who saw our girls filming tells Reality Tea, “I'm in Savannah and spotted the housewives filming. There was an altercation between a large group of the women and Phaedra. Mynique and Kenya were part of the pack.”

Kathy Says She’s "Overprotective" of Rosie

The life of an older sister is difficult enough, but when you’re the older sister to a reality TV star, we can imagine that the difficulty factor is amped up a notch. Real Housewives of New Jersey star Kathy Wakile confessed in her BravoTV blog that she’s always got a watchful eye on her younger sister, Rosie Pierri.

“I have to say yes, I am a bit protective when it comes to Rosie,” Kathy revealed, adding “because she deserves the best!”

As we all know, Rosie is an openly gay single woman and being on television will attract all kinds of attention — sometimes even the unwanted kind. It’s a good thing she has an older sibling who not only understands what it’s like to be in the limelight, but also has her back no matter what.

“I want her to find that eternal love, a soul-mate, someone to be with and share life’s ups and downs. You know, the whole pie and not just a slice! I was lucky to find that early in my life, and I want her to find it too. And if I’m being honest here, I will always step in if I see someone trying to take advantage of my little sister. Rosie is my first best friend in life and that will never change,” Kathy wrote.

Brandi's New Show Announced

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville will get their own Bravo show about her personal relationships, E! News confirmed Wednesday.

She will start filming her spin-off in the next few weeks and it "isn't about the kids. It's a break-up-and-get-over-it-show," a source revealed.

Glanville and her ex-husband Eddie Cibrian divorced in 2009 after having two boys together: Mason and Jake. She is currently rumored to be dating former NFL professional Drew Carter, after they were spotted on dates together in California.

Glanville is currently working on her second memoir, a follow-up to Drinking & Tweeting and Other Brandi Blunders. She tweeted on Tuesday that she was staying up late penning the new book. The tell-all is expected to be released in 2014. When a social media user in July asked her what the book is about, Glanville responded with, "Drinking, Dating & Medicating ♥"

At this rate, Once Upon a Time may need to get in line to riff on Dorothy, Tin Man et al.

CBS has put into development Dorothy, a medical drama that will lift characters and themes from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, our sister site Deadline reports.

Emily Fox (Ghost Whisperer) will pen the script and serve as an executive producer alongside Elementary‘s Carl Beverly and Susan Timberman.

To recap: Wizard of Oz. Medical drama. CBS.

Not three weeks ago, word got out that Syfy is planning its own trip to Oz, in the form of a post-apocalyptic miniseries titled Warriors of Oz. In case any of you were feeling deja vu.

Robbie Amell: Shirtless for 'Bello' Feature!

Robbie Amell shows off his ripped shirtless body in this brand new feature for the August 2013 issue of Bello mag, out on iTunes now.

Here’s what the 25-year-old The Tomorrow People actor had to share with the mag:

On him and his cousin Stephen Amellbeing on the CW on the same night:“It wasn’t until we were doing a promo for Wednesday nights where I kind of leaned over and said, do you realize how insane this is? For one of us to be the lead of a show is massive. For two of us, that’s crazy. For two of us to be on the same network? That’s completely insane. Same network, same night, one after the other is impossible.”

On doing stunts:“I’m dedicated as anybody could be. Jeff, who’s one of your stunt coordinators has a full set-up at his house in Vancouver, for stunt training. He said he’d bring me out there on weekends. I’ll spend a Saturday fighting.”

On The Tomorrow People:“I’ve really enjoyed the parts that I’ve gotten to play, but I’ve always wanted to play something a little darker, and it’s every kids dream to have super-powers. It looks good. You can immerse yourself in the world of the show, without loosing it when a teleport looks horrible.”

25 foods worth traveling for

$
0
0
Even if we don't always remember the history behind the Colosseum, the significance of the Great Pyramids' configuration, or who built Machu Picchu after returning home from a trip, we can almost always remember what we ate while we were there.
Of course, food memories can range from pleasurable to mediocre to, even, uncomfortable. Judgments aside, most of us travelers can agree that the times when we eat during a trip are most often also the times when we feel the most engaged. With all five senses stimulated, we not only see, hear, smell, or even touch a certain place — we taste it, too.

Globalization has made sampling delicacies from around the world fairly easy. Most of us don't have to live in the Middle East to sample delicious falafel, or travel to China for near perfect jiaozi. But our list isn't solely about individual dishes; it's about the experience of eating in an authentic context. It's about actually stepping foot in the wood-fired pizzerias in Naples, the steaming noodle shops of Tokyo, and the bustling cevicherias of Lima. You may be able to recreate a crêpe, but you (sadly) will have a difficult time recreating the crepêrie that wafts saccharine batter aromas from a Parisian street corner.

None of these dishes could have been created in a vacuum. They are most often the sum of geography, traditions, necessities, and personal tastes of a given culture. Many of the dishes on our list arguably have multiple homes across several borders, yet we've chosen to bring you the locations where we believe you can find them in some of their purest forms.

In this slideshow, we've rounded up 25 different foods that enhance the experience of a given place. Not only do these foods complement a trip, some might argue (as we do) that given the proper address, they're worth the trip themselves.

Poland: Pierogies

A pierogi is perhaps the most famous Polish dish. It can come in a variety of forms — baked or fried, filled with meat or potatoes — and is the quintessential Polish comfort food. While it was initially thought of as peasant food, pierogies are now one of the most popular dishes in Poland. If you're visiting Krakow, visit Zapiecek Polskie Pierogarnie to taste this iconic dish.

Dominican Republic: Sancocho(AWWWW YISSSSS)

Sancocho is a traditional soup made with chicken or beef, lemon, herbs, potatoes, yucca, rice, and occasionally plantains. It's typically (and probably at its best) when it's home-cooked (no lies. #1 hangover food TBH), but one of the best restaurants in Santo Domingo to try it at is Adrian Tropical.

Lebanon: Kibbeh

Though this traditional dish tends to vary, its roots are always the same. Comprised of bulgur or rice and ground meat mixed together in different forms, kibbeh can be fried, place in soup, baked in a pie, or served raw, depending on the region. No matter how it is prepared, it is typically cooked with olive oil and served with a lemon garnish. Locals recommend Zawat in southern Lebanon for the best version of this dish.

Peru: Ceviche

Ceviche is served at restaurants all around Peru, even ones that are not traditionally Peruvian. The dish is made of raw fish that is "cooked" in a marinade of lime and lemon juice and chile. It is often served with corn and avocado. For one of the most acclaimed versions of the dish, visit La Mar in Lima.

Canada: Poutine

Originally from Quebec, poutine has infiltrated Canadian cuisine, and has crept into the U.S. as well. It traditionally consists of fries, cheese curds, and gravy, though it also comes topped with anything from Bolognese sauce to foie gras and truffles. In Montreal, two of the best versions can be found at Au Pied de Cochon and Maamm Bolduc.

This Is A Late Night Post, ONTD! James Deen Talks Sex + Relationships for Glamour Magazine

If there's an It Guy of the porn world, it's James Deen. Despite the fact that his piercing blue eyes and boy-next-door good looks have landed him mainstream roles (Deen costarred with Lindsay Lohan in The Canyons, out now), he says porn is less"scummy." Intrigued? So were we. We asked: What has your line of work taught you about men and women?

GLAMOUR: Let's get right to it, James. What would you say to women who think porn is creepy and don't want their boyfriends watching it?
JAMES DEEN: Adult films are packaged with an intended purpose, which is to play on someone's inner desires. They're a product, just like soda or potato chips. So, you know, if you don't like soda and potato chips, don't buy them. Someone who doesn't want to see an adult film shouldn't have to see one.

GLAMOUR: OK, but what about women who are, say, health nuts and are concerned their boyfriends may be overdosing on junk food?
JD: I feel like people often ignore compatibility. If a woman is a health nut, maybe she should date a health nut.

GLAMOUR: Some women fear porn will make their guys develop unrealistic expectations about women's bodies.
JD: When guys view adult films, it's because they're trying to satisfy a masturbatory point in their brain. They just want to indulge in that fantasy by themselves. They aren't thinking, Man, I wish my girlfriend looked like that. They just want to look at Jenna Jameson's big boobs bouncing around. In fact, men who view adult films are more likely to have an unrealistic expectation of themselves than they are of women. Most dudes can't have sex for 45 minutes!

GLAMOUR: What have you learned about women from doing porn?
JD: That every person is an individual; every woman likes different things. You don't have sex to someone. You have sex with that person.

GLAMOUR: I think people have this conception of porn being scuzzy, but I love that you're coming from porn and saying, "No, these people are civilized; they're thoughtful."
JD: Working in the adult-film world, we deal with people's personal boundaries—a lot. If someone says they aren't comfortable doing a scene, everything ends. Everyone is respectful and professional. We listen carefully to one another because we understand we're dancing on these taboos.

GLAMOUR: What's your own love life like? Is it hard to date as a porn star?
JD: My love life is fantastic! I'm up-front about my career, so a girl is not going to date me if she is not OK with what my job entails. As I've gotten older, I've gotten more into commitment. On camera I have a lot of sex, so I don't need to have a wandering eye when I'm not at work.

GLAMOUR: So being a porn star makes you a perfect boyfriend—funny! What's "romexting"? You tweeted that recently.
JD: When you send loving, flirty texts instead of like, "Baby, I want to bang you really hard"—that would be sexting. Romexting is like, "I love you. I want to take you on a fancy trip to Paris and hold your hand at the Eiffel Tower."

GLAMOUR: You realize you're still saying it in the sexting voice.
JD: Yeah, of course! You've got to say it in the sexting voice.

Pharrell Williams and One Direction's Liam Payne hangout in the studio

It's always amazing when two talents unexpectedly get together in the studio, isn't it? While in Los Angeles this week, One Direction's Liam Payne spent some quality time in the studio with the one and only Pharrell Williams. Pharrell shared the attached picture on his Facebook page on Wednesday (August 7) simply saying: "Chilling in the studio with One Direction's Liam."

Both of these superstars are enjoying major success currently. The R&B star was a mentor on "The Voice" this past season and currently is featured on two of the biggest songs in the country right now, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky." Meanwhile Mr. Payne is also near the top of the charts this week with his band's song, "Best Song Ever," at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

There's no word on what the two were working on in the studio but one could probably assume it might have something to do with One Direction's upcoming album, perhaps one of the many songs Liam wrote with Louis. Or maybe they were just hanging out having fun in the studio, as great musicians do. Or maybe it was nothing at all, the world may never know.

Can't help but wonder if Liam was as starstruck meeting Pharrell as he was when Scooter Braun helped him meet one of his idols, Jay-Z, back in November of last year.

Liam is Los Angeles with One Direction this week as the band plays four nights of sold out shows at the Staples Center before going to the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday (August 11).
