- central board of film certification is calling historians, experts and members of the former royal family to vet the authenticity of the film padmavati after protests and threats of violence to the cast and crew over a non-existent scene, including hanging effigies of lead actress deepika padukone and director sanjay leela bhansali
- one of the academics has already criticised the film for not taking into account the "sentiments of people"
- the film was set to be released on 1 december but is now still pending approval from the censor board for release
- priyanka chopra, who has previously worked with padukone and bhansali on the film bajirao mastani, expressed support for those working on padmavati and wondered why actors are being made political scapegoats
