Sky Ferreira makes directorial debut, teases visual EP in early 2018(!)

  • Leading up to the release of her long-delayed sophomore album 'Masochism,' pop's dark horse Sky Ferreira has revealed plans to release a "heavily visual" EP in February/March

  • Ferreira says the videos will "connect to each other in an abstract way" and that she's working with a predominantly female creative team: "There’s a group of people I’m working with, and it’s exciting because I’ve never written with so many girls before. There’s a girl that’s writing the EP with me. There are very specific things I wanted to write, and I could write on my own, but I knew she could bring another element of what I wanted to the music."

  • In the meantime, Ferreira has made her directorial debut with a Lynchian music video for Marching Church's "Christmas On Earth"

Cara Delevingne's new advert has been deleted after it was accused of promoting rape culture.

A Jimmy Choo advert featuring Cara Delevingne being whistled at and cat-called while walking down New York streets has been branded as sexist.
She can been see wearing a red dress and glittery boots as men on the street tell her she looks great.
Some calling it out for being 'sexist' and 'tone deaf' following the #MeToo movement.
Some questioning the timing of the advert, as the entertainment industry is dogged with allegations of sexual assault and abuse.
Others have critised the fashion label for promoting and glamourising cat-calling.

Delevingne has not publicly responded to the comments yet.

Noel Gallagher doesn't believe music industry has a sexual harrassment problem; is a feminist

Noel Gallagher was recently asked about sexual harrassment in the music industry and he explained why he thinks the music industry doesn't have the same problem as the movie industry:
I haven’t heard of anything, I haven’t heard of anything. I guess in the film industry, a lot of the time the females need the male bosses to get them further up the ladder, you know what I mean? Whereas in the music industry, if a girl writes a great song, it’s still a great song. It seems to me to be a bit more… equal, in the music industry? Now, I’m aware that girl… Keisha? Kesha? What’s her name? Something went on there. But from where I’m looking at it, I know Rita Ora very well, let’s just take her for one. She’s fucking amazing, and I’ve been at festivals with her when we’re around record company executives and she’s treated — and I would imagine people like her are treated — with the same reverence as their male counterparts. Whereas in Hollywood, that would not seem to be the case.

He then discussed why you "can't afford to be a misogynist in the music business" and tells the story about how he realized he was a feminist:
"And in any case, if my fuckin’ wife… You know what, I’ll tell you a little something for instance, this is my wife, right? She was having some of her friends around one night, and they’re all downstairs in the kitchen – you’ve been in this scenario many many times, I’m sure, when they’re all pissed around the kitchen table cacklin’ like fuckin’ insane nannas, right? And I’m kind of downstairs getting a drink and they’re having a conversation about feminism, right? And I’m kind of like, ‘Ha! Feminism? Whatever.’ And then my wife listed about 12 reasons why I was a feminist. And I was like… stunned into silence. She was like, ‘You’re a feminist! Because of this and because of that,’ and I was like, ‘Oh… Well I suppose you’ve got a point there.’"

Poundland Comes Under Fire for its Bizarre Marketing Use of Elf on the Shelf

Poundland, a British store chain where most items cost £1, have gotten complaints about their Christmas marketing campaign of featuring Elf on the Shelf in various scenarios of an adult nature. The biggest stir was an image of Elf on the Shelf teabagging another doll with a box of Twining Tea behind him. The tea box was then edited out after the company complained about the misuse of their product

The Advertising Standards Authority said, "I can confirm we have received eight complaints so far about a series of Poundland tweets that feature an Elf. The general nature of the complaints is that the tweets are offensive and unsuitable to be seen by children. We will carefully assess the complaints to establish whether there are grounds to investigate."

For his part, marketing director Mark Pym denies being hacked. "If you think this is edgy, you should see the ones we didn’t post. The love on Facebook is overwhelming - that’s because it connects with our shoppers. In fact, we’re proud of a campaign that’s only cost £25.53 and is being touted as the winning marketing campaign this Christmas! This is Britain, the home of the double entendre and the saucy postcard. Thankfully our customers get the joke.”

Indian Actors, Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty, In Legal Trouble Over Casteist Comment

The Valmiki Samaj Action Committee have filed a complaint with the DCP against Indian actors, Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty, for making casteist remarks on TV shows. While Khan was doing an interview promoting his upcoming film, "Tiger Zinda Hai", he said, "I look like a Bhangi doing this step." Shetty also used the derogatory word while describing how she looked like at home, exclaiming, "I look like a Bhangi...".

The word "Bhangi" is a casteist slur and and is used to describe "A Hindu sweeper or scavenger being a member of one of the lowest untouchable castes" according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. It can also mean "unkempt" or someone who doesn't shower/shave since that is often how privileged people view people of lower castes.

I'm not surprised about Salman saying this since he's scum, but Shilpa surprised me. It shows how privileged and out of touch many of these stars are.

The Elusive Chanteuse is set to return to Times Square in New York City for a “redemptive” performance. Mariah, who infamously suffered major technical malfunctions during her previous performance for “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” ,because she was sabotaged by her ex-manager/flop person Stella Bulochnikov will once again take the stage at 11:45 p.m.

This time around Mimi is expected to have a bigger production more in line with her Las Vegas show with a full band and dancers. Apparently Dick Clark Productions reached out to MC and begged for her to return, and Mariah being the gracious Imperfect Angel that she is agreed without any hesitation to shut all the haters up once and for all.

Melanie Martinez has released a new song over night. Judging by the lyrics and the timing, it is highly suspected be in response to the Timothy Heller rape allegations. Martinez previously claimed in a statement on twitter that the act was consensual. The lyrics refer to somebody she called a friend who ruined her reputation and benefitted from it ("kill my name for some fame"/"was a good friend and you used that to your advantage").
