Bebe Rexha's song "Meant To Be" with Florida Georgia Line debuted at #1 on Billboard's Country chart and it is apparently the first time for a song with a female lead artist. She was understandably surprised.
Her fans have been asking her to do more to promote the song but she (and what remains of her promo budget) said it'll happen naturally if it's meant to be.

Director Bryan Singer's Production Company, Bad Hat Harry, is now without as home, as Twentieth Century Fox has begun to vacate their offices.

The decision comes shortly after Singer's firing as Director for the upcoming Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Singer's three year first-look deal with FOX ended in October, however the deal was granted an extension allowing Bad Hat Harry to remain for the duration of Bohemian Rhapsody's filming.

But deal was cut short when Fox chose to cut ties with Singer and terminate his involvement in the film.

Singer has spoken out about the situation, saying the studio would not allow him time to deal with the illness of a parent.

According to reports, Quentin Tarantino has an idea for a Star Trek film and has pitched it to JJ Abrams. They plan to put together a writer's room who will develop the script.

Tarantino is supposedly also up for directing the film.

TrekMovie speculates the very earliest we could see this potential film is 2020, and if QT's claim he'll retire after his tenth movie is true, it's doubtful he'll want it to be the fourteenth movie in the Star Trek franchise.

Because Hollywood clearly hates the general public, the SAG Awards have announced their first-ever host for the ceremony, and it'll be Kristen Bell (see above). The SAGs were one of the better award shows because they never had a tedious-as-hell and time-wasting host before, and were also the shortest major awards in any season (at 2 hours).

The Screen Actors Guild awards will air live on TNT/TBS on Sunday, January 21, 2018.

  • One of Danny Masterson’s alleged sexual assault victims said this weekend Andy Yeatman, a Netflix executive and director of global kids content, told her that higher-ups at Netflix don’t believe the four women who have accused Masterson of rape after she inquired about Netflix's inaction. This happened at a kids sports game where Yeatman is a coach and the accuser is the wife of one of the other team's coaches.

  • Netflix confirmed the statement, calling it “careless” and “uninformed” BUUUUUT also notes the asshole wasn't aware he was talking to one of the accusers,

  • The victim told Yeatman that she and the other women accusing Masterson of rape were telling the truth and that “Netflix is going to regret this, this is a mistake, they’re going to see.” A witness confirmed the exchange, and that Yeatman said in a condescending tone, “we’ll see.” A Netflix spokesman denied he said such a thing.

  • Netflix released a statement, saying in part: "We are aware of the allegations against Danny Masterson and we are following the current investigation, and will respond if developments occur."

Celebs react to Sen. Chuck Grassley's "booze or women or movies" theory on poor people and tax cuts

Background: While discussing the GOP tax reform and repealing the estate tax (which only kicks in for individuals with 5.5 million or more), Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley explained to the Des Moines Register why only rich people deserves that particular tax cut: “I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing, as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.” Celebs, who find nothing wrong with spending money on booze and movies, have thoughts:

Tom Arnold:

Catherine Ryan Hyde, who wrote Pay It Forward, has a 🤔 moment:

Singer-songwriter Cary Brothers:

Michael Ian Black and Audra McDonald make the same joke (GMTA!):

Alan Tudyk (Wash, King Candy, K-2SO) has funny thought:

…but also serious thought:

James Morrison (the actor from 24, Twin Peaks, not the singer) is pissed:

ONTD, how would you spend 5.5 million on booze, women and movies?

But more seriously, let's blow this story up because people need to be reminded what the GOP really thinks of them.

Vanity Fair picks the 17 (5) Best Pop Songs of 2017

$
0
0

As VF writes, "This year in pop can ultimately be boiled down to one emblematic moment, when a stripper-turned-Instagram-star-turned-reality-star-turned-hip-hop princess dethroned the biggest major label superstar of her generation at No.1, with nothing but a freestyle rap and a whole bunch of streaming clicks."

Here are some of their top picks:

Demi Lovato - Daddy Issues
That the track does psychodrama atop triumphant synthetic horns, shimmering major-key melodies and palpable delight at one’s shortcomings makes what could have been a maudlin overshare feel ebullient instead.

Taylor Swift - Delicate
Her “reputation's never been worse,” but Swift's uncanny gift for taking the commonplace and rendering it thoroughly mythical—here, the moment where a crush might become something more—remains pristine.

Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE.
"Humble" exemplifies Kendrick Lamar’s ability to take a sticky idea—the conflict between self-belief and humility—and boil it down into something simple, anthemic, and in this case, his catchiest and most accessible single to date.

Kesha - Praying
Kesha revels in painstaking honesty, then offers proof—with the whistle note that launches its final chorus—that rebirth and redemption are the cathartic byproduct of that candor.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling
No song title more plainly represents what Carly Rae Jepsen does: She cuts straight through the crap and injects you with that raw, uncut feeling. No artifice. No posturing.

  • Actress Sanchita Malik details her experience auditioning for the movie Trafficking, she contacted SAG-AFTRA back in 2015. Mentions her audition involved her hair being pulled back, being licked and a male actor simulating rape by "pretending to force his penis in me".

  • The producers Conroy Kanter and Siddharth Kara claim she's exaggerating, allege she only made the claim after she didn't get the role she was auditioning for. Malik and her agent imply they only offered her another role to buy her silence.

  • The director, Will Wallace, defends the "intensity" of the casting process, calls it an "out of the box" approach and claims it helps actresses. (he was removed as the director of the movie during post-production over a dispute about the portrayal of rape, figures)

  • THR talked to other actresses who asked to remain anonymous, they didn't witness what happened to Sanchita but confirmed that the casting process was too intense, unnecessarily physical.

  • After THR approached the producers with the story they got, they asked Alpa Banker, who got the main part, to make a statement which was meant to debunk the claims and make it seem like the physical contact during the auditon was needed to understand how victims of sex trafficking feel.

  • Siddharth Kara wrote an email to Malik after she contacted SAG-AFTRA stating that he didn't believe anything bad happened at the casting and mentioned that the movie was socially important and victims were waiting for such movies to be released.

Country singing legend Randy Travis was arrested after crashing his car while drunk and naked in 2012. He just lost a court battle to keep the video of his arrest from being released.

The entire video is 3 hours long, but TMZ has posted portions of it. Travis repeatedly threatens the arresting officer, telling him that he has "fucked with the wrong person" and "you will pay for it with your goddamn life" and "You're a dead man. I will bury you under a barn."

The officer remains calm and respectful and even starts laughing at one point when Travis tells him he's going to pray for the officer to have the "biggest growth on your head". He cracks up again when Travis admonishes him for handcuffing him "with my dick hanging out. I'm proud of my dick - it's bigger than most - but you insulted me".

Travis also talks about being whipped by his father as a boy for messing up while herding cattle.

Singer Katharine McPhee and her producer friend Hilary Shor crashed a wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico over the weekend and were kicked out by the bride.

Insulted, Shor posted a bunch of videos on Instagram about the incident (she has since made her Instagram account private, but Page Six had already seen the videos and reported on them).

In one video titled "Bride Bitch", McPhee snarks about the bride herself kicking them out: “What bride does her own wedding security? If you’re doing your own security, you have a problem.”

Shor also posted videos titled "loser bride bouncer" and "dead bride #rude bride" in which she says things like “That bride voted for Trump I can feel it” and “Rise above the rude bride. She should be so lucky to dance with me, I got moves.” McPhee chimes in “I was ready to show some serious moves.”

Shor says to McPhee “She could have had a Page Six, New York Post [article] of us coming and dancing the night away".
