Here and Now, created by Alan Ball, focuses on a contemporary multi-racial family headed by Holly Hunter.
Barry centers on ex-Marine Barry (Bill Hader) who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the LA theater scene.

CommunityChannel (Nat Tran) talks about interracial dating (WMAF)

$

Talking with JT Tran, 'Dating Coach'

  • She is used to hate comments but the ones that stick out to her are the ones talking about her intteracial dating

  • Talks to JT Tran, discusses where those comments come from and how asian men were desexualised in media and in asian culture at home

  • Nat says she conciously feels inferior to white women

Talking with Katie, 'Matchmaker'

  • WIth Katie who runs a matchmaking service, Nat talks about Asian women who only date white men.

  • Katie says she has many asian women who want to exclusively date white men and the thought of dating men of other colours haven't even crossed their mind. Many of these women who do not want to date asian men fall back on stereotypes as reasons they don't want to date asian men

Talking with Dr Jane Park, 'Senior Lecturer'

  • Says there is a historical reason as to why asian men feel possessive (losing country, culture and now women)

  • Jane says the reason why there are more asian women dating white men than vice versa is because of history, as propaganda focused on asian men. Creating the image of asexual asians

  • Nat tells a story about how she went out to lunch with her dad and friend, having verbal abused yelled at her

  • Nat feels that people will think less of her when she is older and with a white man, Dr Jane agrees and says that its probably because he won't age as well as Nat and to other people she may appear to be his mail-order bride

  • They discuss how asian women are appeared in media, they're either hypersexualised or docile, while asian men are asexual. Jane also goes on to say that white men/women are once again appear to be the norm in which all others' masculinity are judged

Nat on Online Harrassment

  • She is not the only having these types of comments directed at her, her nieces who come from a mixed background also have these types of comments directed at them (eg hapa children are cancer)

  • Nat talks to a moderator (Eurasian Tiger) of a subreddit called 'Hapas' which is a community of mixed children from WMAF relationships

  • Eurasian Tiger says he is not against interracial relationships but the world is against relationships involving asian and eurasian men. He primary thought is the offspring of the relationship, as a eurasian person he feels that race is always at the top of his mind because the world has this image of eurasians as 'special'

  • He also talks about how some Eurasian men hate Asian men, suggests they discrimate against them so they will be able to differentiate from them. The most famous case being Elliot Rodgers who killed 3 asian men and several white men. Elliot has videos on his channel where he proclaims his hate for asian men and white women who date them.

  • Eurasian Tiger is the son of a Neo-Nazi and was also a Neo-Nazi, he previously bullied asian men, asking himself why they were more popular than him when they weren't white and he was half white.

  • Says the problem isn't asian women and that it is the world and how it isn't fair.

Nat Talks with her Eurasian University Friend (Indonesian/Australian)

  • They discuss her heritage, WMAF relationships, racial hierarchy

  • Her friend says there was a slight disappointment and betrayal from her family for dating a white man

  • She discusses how she had ingrained views of asian and white men, believes that white men are born with the upperhand

  • A lot of the racism she has faced were second-hand as she is white passing and people would openly tell her

  • Because she is white passing and when the coversation of heritage comes up, people would genuinely say that is she 'pretty' and not to worry because they couldn't tell she was asian

  • Worries that her son would face racism if he were to appear asian because he is mixed but is also worried that he may grow up 'too white' and delevop harmful views of asians

Nat talks with Phil from WongFu Productions

  • A long time ago, Wongfu made a video called 'Yellow Fever' (2005), it deals with asian women and white men. They also had a sequel (2016)

  • They didn't know there were any social commentary on the topic and had no idea there was a wider scope to the topic

  • The sequel deals with interracial issues and has a female side

  • Phil says he isn't against interracial dating, doesn't idolise white women nor is desperate to have one (bae?)

  • Phil says historiacally, there are political roots to the issues as legislations have been passed in the past to bar asian men from interracial relationships

  • Says self-hating asian women have specific views of asian men and have judgements and would not date them because of them

  • He is angry and frustrated that media hasn't helped in repairing the perspection of asian men

  • Commenters have suggested that Wongfu has played it safe in only having AMAF couples in their videos, Phil says that he doesn't want to chase down an white actresses just for the sake of it

  • He talks about asian men that date exclusively outside of their race because they view it as an accomplishment, he understands their argument but is confused as to why they would want that as a foundation in their relationship

Source

TL;DR - Historical events have lead to asian men being at a disadvantage in the dating scene, such things as colonization, racist legislations and discrimination has made it so dating asian men is seen as dating down. Some asian women don't want to date asian men as they perceive them to be too tied to the traditional culture and are not willing to have an open-view compared to their views of white men

I highly suggest yall watch the vid, its very informative and also doesn't place either side as the reason to blame.

Carol Burnett is so glad to have time together for 50th anniversary special

CBS aired a 2-hour special celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Carol Burnett Show on Sunday, December 3.

  • Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner were also onstage with Burnett

  • The special has tributes to the late Harvey Korman and to Bob Mackie who's estimated to have designed over 17,000 costumes in 11 years for the show

  • Current celebrities who participated in the special include Amy Poehler, Kristin Chenoweth, Maya Rudolph, and Bill Hader

  • Kevin Spacey ws originally in a musical segment but they edited him out (ed: Woot!)

  • Burnett on how the show holds up: "When we were rehearsing and showing clips, there were these young cameramen who were screaming with laughter, because they hadn’t seen some of this stuff. I got the biggest kick out of that."

  • Fun fact: Did you know that The Carol Burnett Show only came about because of a contract clause? Burnett had a contract with CBS for 10 years which required her to do two guest appearances and a special a year. Within the first five years of this contract, she had the option to "push the button" and be put on the air in 30 one-hour variety shows, pay-or-play. In the last week of that fifth year of the contract, Burnett decided to call the head of CBS Michael Dann and, despite the objections that sketch shows were a "man's game," exercise the clause and that's how we got The Carol Burnett Show.

The Exorcist Showrunner Tells Off Homophobic Fans

The most recent episode of The Exorcist featured a gay kiss. A few homophobes expressed butthurt opinions on twitter. Showrunner Jeremy Slater responded with this:

I saw a couple of homophobes on Twitter and my response is, “Good, fuck you. I’m glad you didn’t like it, I’m glad it ruined the show for you. You shouldn’t have good things in your life.”

If a homophobe can’t watch the show anymore because one of the characters is gay, then I’m glad something good has come out of it. This is 2017 and we still have people throwing temper tantrums online because they don’t want to see gay characters. I think it’s the last gasp of a certain breed of dinosaur that’s on the way out, and let them kick and scream as they go.

Because Hollywood clearly hates the general public, the SAG Awards have announced their first-ever host for the ceremony, and it'll be Kristen Bell (see above). The SAGs were one of the better award shows because they never had a tedious-as-hell and time-wasting host before, and were also the shortest major awards in any season (at 2 hours).

The Screen Actors Guild awards will air live on TNT/TBS on Sunday, January 21, 2018.

Netflix Exec Tells Woman The Company Doesn’t Believe Danny Masterson's Rape Accusers

  • One of Danny Masterson’s alleged sexual assault victims said this weekend Andy Yeatman, a Netflix executive and director of global kids content, told her that higher-ups at Netflix don’t believe the four women who have accused Masterson of rape after she inquired about Netflix's inaction. This happened at a kids sports game where Yeatman is a coach and the accuser is the wife of one of the other team's coaches.

  • Netflix confirmed the statement, calling it “careless” and “uninformed” BUUUUUT also notes the asshole wasn't aware he was talking to one of the accusers,

  • The victim told Yeatman that she and the other women accusing Masterson of rape were telling the truth and that “Netflix is going to regret this, this is a mistake, they’re going to see.” A witness confirmed the exchange, and that Yeatman said in a condescending tone, “we’ll see.” A Netflix spokesman denied he said such a thing.

  • Netflix released a statement, saying in part: "We are aware of the allegations against Danny Masterson and we are following the current investigation, and will respond if developments occur."

Celebs react to Sen. Chuck Grassley's "booze or women or movies" theory on poor people and tax cuts

Background: While discussing the GOP tax reform and repealing the estate tax (which only kicks in for individuals with 5.5 million or more), Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley explained to the Des Moines Register why only rich people deserves that particular tax cut: “I think not having the estate tax recognizes the people that are investing, as opposed to those that are just spending every darn penny they have, whether it’s on booze or women or movies.” Celebs, who find nothing wrong with spending money on booze and movies, have thoughts:

Tom Arnold:

Catherine Ryan Hyde, who wrote Pay It Forward, has a 🤔 moment:

Singer-songwriter Cary Brothers:

Michael Ian Black and Audra McDonald make the same joke (GMTA!):

Alan Tudyk (Wash, King Candy, K-2SO) has funny thought:

…but also serious thought:

James Morrison (the actor from 24, Twin Peaks, not the singer) is pissed:

90 Day Fiancé: Season 5, Episode 9 Viewing Post!

On tonight’s episode: Molly asks Luis to step up as a parent; Elizabeth and Andrei have new plans for the wedding; David won't talk about the wedding night with Evelyn; Nicole and Azan have a big decision to make; Josh and Aika argue about babies.

If this is your first time watching this show, enjoy with us. If you’re lost, revisit this long ass description I’m about to give to understand these couples.

Brunette Paula Deen and Great Value Pedro (Molly and Luis)

Molly, 41, is a lingerie boutique owner in Georgia who is with Luis, a bartender from the Dominican Republic. Molly has two daughters, Kensley and Olivia, who have made it clear they are not loving Luis and his behavior proves their instincts. He tries to usurp his position as their father while inquiring whether 17-year-old Olivia is just using her boyfriend to “f***” (his words, not mine). Molly’s father doesn’t seem to take a liking to Luis, however this edited to look as though he’s racist or he’s genuinely concerned. Either way, Molly’s brother Jess is just along for the ride.

Bahtman and Annie (David and Annie)

48-year-old broke, divorced and suspected deadbeat dad, David has lived in Thailand for about three years in order “to have some fun” (EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW) after going through a tumultuous split. He met 24-year-old Annie while in a karaoke bar. David is scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to finances, so much so that he’s constantly borrowing money from his longtime friend Chris. The issue? Annie’s family needs a dowry in order for the engagement to commence. They require 500,000 baht (15,000 USD) and two water buffaloes. Of course he can only afford to pay 50,000 baht because he’s a sugar-free sugar daddy. They eventually get engaged and arrive in Los Angeles to live with Chris, his wife and their two children. David constantly embarrasses Annie due to his drinking which leads to a chaotic dinner with Chris’s brother-in-law, Antonio (not airport-phobic model Antonio).

Christian Predator and Apple Connoisseur and Apple Connoisseur’s family (David and Evelyn and Evelyn’s family)

Please tell me Chris Hayes’s flight to New Hampshire is already scheduled because I am skeeved out by this couple (not as nearly as skeeved out as I am with Nikki and Mark). High school graduate Evelyn is pretentious, smug, stubborn teenager who makes Christian music with her family. She posted her music on Instagram and other things like teenagers do which caught the attention of 27-year-old Grenada resident David. He began chatting her up when she was only 15, but her parents were too busy to intercede because they were protesting gay people and obese people. But it’s not like that matters because they support this damn union. Watching them is incredibly uncomfortable with a lot of one-upping each other, not agreeing on anything and just being insufferable together. When the only person with some damn sense in Claremont, Mikayla, takes issue with David’s age, she’s immediately shut down with rude and snappy remarks from David and Evelyn. I can just envision the decades of love with these two and by love, I mean eternal passive-aggressiveness and general unpleasantness while chomping on apples.

“Midlife-Crisis” by Faith No More and Aika (Josh and Aika)

Josh is 43-year-old man with children that don’t speak to him and lives with roommates. He’s always wanted a “trophy wife” and dreamed of being the guy that landed the “hot cheerleader” in school (blech, grow up my guy). Aika a 36-year-old from the Philippines enters and Josh believes he found the woman that he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Aika makes is clear that she would like to settle down with a stable career and have children. Josh seems to take umbrage with that because it’s up to him to reveal that’s he had a vasectomy, something he has never mentioned before. However, he wants to push her into modeling which leads to a very uncomfortable moment where she reads a script for a local commercial, but Aika rejects the modeling offer because she knows that she wants to settle down. Josh is the man who wants a trophy wife but is only deserving of a participation ribbon.

Bonus Fact: Josh gave Aika an engagement ring, but it is the ring that belonged to his second ex-wife.

Real Househusband of Moldova and Libby McGuire (Andrei and Elizabeth)

Elizabeth describes herself as rebellious (she just has money to travel that’s all) and met 31-year-old former club bouncer Andrei in Dublin. Honestly, there’s really nothing that great about them, it’s her family that is so irritating. Her sisters led by a Becky named Becky want to take Elizabeth out to a strip club which Elizabeth doesn’t like and Andrei doesn’t like either. She thinks she is to be submissive when she gets married which her friends and family oppose, however Andrei sees it as maturing and going to a club to get wild isn’t what they should be doing as a couple. Becky is really hell-bent on having balls fly at her sister’s face though

Danielle and Mohammed… sorry I meant Nicole and Azan
24-year-old Nicole is in Morocco once again to be with the luv of her life, 24-year-old vegetable obsessed Azan. This is her second season to appear and now she finally got her dad and stepmother to sponsor Azan for the K-1 visa because she doesn’t make enough money. They really only did this because Nicole threatened that if they didn’t, she would permanently move to Morocco with May. This time Nicole brought her young daughter, May with her and insists that May call Azan “daddy.” Nicole is experimenting to see whether Azan is going to make a good father. The family adores May and they loved Nicole until she brazenly asked Azan to ask his aunt if they could sleep in the same room. (That’s why his auntie cooked the sheep’s head for you, girl.) Unfortunately for Azan, if things don’t go Nicole’s way and she’s not given attention constantly, she physically lashes out at Azan.

This show has put me THROUGH it, y’all.

Note: The embedded tweet promotes the episode as being on 10/9CST when it's really 8/7CST. TLC done frauded us again!

Current Location: eating lechon at a water buffalo sales training convention in Claremont, NH
