World heavyweight boxing champ, Anthony Joshua, is being acussed of sending some offensive messages to another boxer via Instagram. The messages seem to go against Anthony's good guy, respectful public persona he's built up over the last few years.
1520355_600
He allgedely sent Eddie Chambers, another boxer, instagram messages which said he was a "disgrace to the superior black race" and called him a "little bit*h".

Chambers was offended saying, “I grew up very poor and [h]ad it very hard and still made something of myself. I always show respect and carry myself with class by treating people how I want to be treated and in return I have my "Fellow" Black brother who I said nothing disrespectful too calling me a disgrace to my Race????"

Eddies manager posted this video proving it's actually anthony, after AJ's manager tweeted that it was fake. AJ hasn't addressed it.

Update: AJ's spokespeople are saying he was "hacked". lol

What's known about the rape accusation against 'Girls' writer so far

$
0
0

- 'Girls' writer Murray Miller is being accused by actress Aurora Perrinau ('Passengers', 'Equals') of raping her when she was 17 (he was 35 at the time)

- The allegations:She met Miller while out with some friends at the Standard Hotel, where she “consumed some alcoholic beverages.” “He was flirting with me. I told him repeatedly that I was 17 years old”. Miller asked one of her friends for a ride home “because he was drunk,” and the group agreed. She said everyone got out of the car at Miller’s home, and she did not want to, but “felt like I had to go along with everyone else". “At some point, I woke up in Murray’s bed naked. He was on top of me having sexual intercourse with me. At no time did I consent to any sexual contact with Murray”.

- She has filed a police report AND passed a polygraph test, the results of which you can read HERE @ The Wrap. To be considered truthful, her score would have to equal or exceed +6. She got a +18.

- Murray's attorney's statement: After being contacted several weeks ago by lawyers who–on Ms. Perrineau’s behalf–sought substantial monetary damages from him, Mr. Miller’s legal team gathered overwhelming evidence directly contradicting these false and offensive claims. Only after her demands for money were rebuffed did Ms. Perrineau go to the police. Mr. Miller looks forward to sharing all evidence and information with any and all authorities seeking the truth in this matter.

- Aurora's father, 'Lost' actor Harold Perrinau is supporting her. Her mother is also supporting her and said: "At no time have we ever asked Murray Miller for $1. There was never a demand for money ever made from anyone on behalf of Aurora or our family".

Even When She's Flopping, She's Still Slaying: Katy Perry Wins $5 Million in Real Estate Lawsuit

  • Katy Perry has won a $5 million judgment in court on Friday, November 17th, stemming from a lawsuit surrounding her purchase of a property in LA that used to be a convent.

  • Katy had purchased the property for $14.5M in 2015 under the approval of the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

  • A Silvery Lake Businesswoman, Dana Hollister, had been fighting the sale, all while meeting with the nuns who lived on the property to stop the sale to Perry, so she could purchase it herself.

  • Hollister intended to turn it into an upscale restaurant and boutique hotel, while Perry wanted to renovate for her own personal living.

  • Dana had entered a purchase agreement with the 2 nuns who thought they had the right to sell the property (op comment: lolwut?). However, it was the archdiocese whom had the right and enterted the sale to Perry.

  • The $5 million judgment gets split up. $3.47M to the Los Angeles Archdiocese and 1.53M to Katy Perry for legal fees.

  • The judge also approved the next step of the case which involves Hollister having to pay punitive damages to Katy Perry. That case begins in December.

"Justice League" Box Office Estimates in Freefall: Drops to $93mil Opening Weekend

-As of a couple days ago, box office estimates were around $125-145million
-With every box office update that's rolled in since Thursday, the predictions have fallen. As of Saturday afternoon, estimates are placing it at a $93million opening weekend.
-This will put Justice League, WB/DC's "flagship" movie as the lowest opening weekend in their entire cinematic universe. Will make 44% less than Batman v. Superman
-If JL has the same box office multiplier as BvS, that will put the domestic gross around $184 million -- right around what Ant-Man made

Strange Tidbits from Netflix's "Jim And Andy: The Great Beyond" Documentary

$
0
0
Reviews are in for Netflix's documentary of the behind the scenes events of 1999 Andy Kaufman biopic "Man on the Moon"(click here to refresh yourself), is out and it's a doozy.

It basically confirms this about Jim Carrey's weird/creepy/nonsensical antics through the years:

Here's a few wild bits:

  • Carrey about getting the part in the film: “Initially when I heard I had the part, I was sitting in Malibu looking at the ocean and thinking, ‘Where would Andy be? What would Andy be doing?’ I bet he would be doing something like trying to communicate telepathically. Immediately, like 30 dolphins came to the surface. So I thought, well, maybe I’m on the right track. So I decided for the next few days to speak telepathically to people. It was absurd. It was completely absurd, but somehow it worked."

  • Insisted on speaking like Andy and being called Andy at all times. Co-stars Paul Giamatti & Danny DeVito are shown visibly uncomfortable by this between filming scenes

  • Wrestler Jerry “The King” Lawler, a former public enemy/private friend of Kaufman, had to be physically restrained from beating Carrey's skinny behind on set

  • Two-time Oscar winning Director Milos Forman was so overwhelmed by his experience handling Carrey that he didn't make another film for 7 years after "Man on the Moon". He has only directed two forgettable movies in the last 18 years

  • Co-star Courtney Love at one point acts more out-of-control on set (dancing around behind scenes in her underwear) than Carrey which upsets him

  • Explaining away his own bad behavior: “I have a Hyde inside me,” he says at one point, “that shows up when there are people watching. When there’s a thousand people with their eyes on me and they hand me a microphone, Jim goes away and Hyde comes out. But it’s a good Hyde, it’s not a hateful Hyde. It’s a loving Hyde that just wants everybody to party and have a good time. But it’s Hyde nonetheless, and I feel like sometimes afterwards like, ‘Damn, I lost control again, to him.'

ONTD Original: When Bad Singles Happen to Good Albums

$
0
0

It's a tale as old as time: your favorite artist releases his or her (more often than not, her) new single, and after sometimes years of anticipation, you press play and find yourself... underwhelmed. Now, with weeks to go before the accompanying album is scheduled to drop, your anticipation has been considerably diluted. You may even be a bit nervous - you've waited so long, and now the very thing you've been looking forward to for what feels like ages sounds like it's gonna suck.

Then, the album leaks drops, and just like that your worries are dissolved. Dissolved, and replaced with a new, more fiery frustration, because... the album is good. Really, really good. But the single tanked, it's the one song you skip in an otherwise flawless lineup, and a bunch of preteens on Twitter are throwing an #(Insert Artist Name Here)IsOver party. "Why," you ask the heavens, "Why do bad singles happen to good albums?" Here, I take a closer look at five pop albums in recent memory that were done dirty by the singles that preceded them - and muse over the singles that could have been.

Katy Perry - 'Witness' (2017)

BAD SINGLES Katy Perry's self-proclaimed "360-degree liberation" record, 'Witness''s era got off to a respectable start with lead single "Chained to the Rhythm" (#4). The catchy, albeit safe, Sia-assisted track found Perry doubling down on the newly politicized image she cultivated as resident pop girl of the Clinton campaign trail, leading listeners to believe her messiness had been put to bed. She promptly proved them wrong and refueled her detractors with "Bon Appétit" (#59), a misfire of a strategic hot mess featuring documented homophobes Migos and accompanied by an equally appetite suppressing video clip.

GOOD ALBUM The shame of it is that 'Witness' is arguably (read: arguably) Perry's strongest, most cohesive album to date, and does indeed show more growth than 2/3 of its singles give it credit for. The much buzzed about title track, with its nods to 1990s house and gospel, opens the album on a high note; "Power" is the sequel to 'Teenage Dream''s "Circle the Drain" that more casual fans might not know they've been given, and the subtly sexy "Tsunami" is a tonic to "Bon Appétit"'s ham-fisted come-ons.

HIGHLIGHTS"Witness,""Roulette,""Power,""Tsunami"

Britney Spears - 'Glory' (2016)

BAD SINGLES One could argue that "Make Me...", the lead single off the Comeback Kid of Pop's then-highly anticipated ninth album, is not bad in and of itself. It was well-received by fans and critics alike, despite peaking modestly at #17 and featuring G-Eazy, who I am still not sure is a real person. Many saw it as a return to form, particularly with the abysmal 'Britney Jean' era in the rearview. But upon hearing the full of 'Glory,' one cannot help but wonder how "Make Me..." was chosen to introduce an album considered by many as Spears' best since 2007's mythic 'Blackout.'

GOOD ALBUM In hindsight, "Make Me..." seemed engineered as much as an attempt to infect a wider population with G-Eazy as to indicate a new direction for one of pop's heaviest hitters. One can't help but wonder how Spears and/or her label pivoted from originally planned lead single"Mood Ring," a smoldering DJ Mustard-produced banger that eventually descended into Japanese bonus track oblivion, or what could have been had the criminally neglected second single "Slumber Party" (#86) taken the lead sans Tinashe.

HIGHLIGHTS"Slumber Party,""Love Me Down,""Better,""Mood Ring"

Ellie Goulding - 'Delirium' (2015)

BAD SINGLES On the heels of global smash "Love Me Like You Do" (#13), "On My Mind" was released after being considerably delayed. And while it performed similarly to the former in the US, peaking at #13, it was also considerably divisive to critics and fans, with many considering it evidence of a sonic identity crisis for Goulding. Overall, 'Delirium' would face similar criticism, and follow-up singles "Army" and "Something in the Way You Move" would fail to crack the upper echelons of the charts.

GOOD ALBUM While definitely a bit long-winded and sanitized in comparison to predecessor 'Halcyon,''Delirium' has more than its fair share of bright spots and hits that could have been. Tracks like "Keep On Dancin'" and "We Can't Move to This" expertly toe the line between experimental and infectious, while "Codes" is a worthy opponent to "Love Me Like You Do" for the title of Goulding's best ballad.

HIGHLIGHTS"Keep On Dancin',""Codes,""Don't Panic,""We Can't Move to This"

Ashley Tisdale - 'Guilty Pleasure' (2009)

BAD SINGLES While it'd be a stretch to imply that any single choice would have caused an Ashley Tisdale album to storm the charts, the Disney Channel starlet and her label certainly didn't help its odds by introducing 'Guilty Pleasure' with the Kelly Clarkson-lite "It's Alright, It's OK" (#99). The album, which saw Tisdale ditching the slinky, Britney-meets-Kylie pop of 2007's 'Headstrong' in favor of something a little more arena-ready, would go on to debut at #12, selling a mere 25,000 copies in its first week of release.

GOOD ALBUM While it failed to capture the attention of the GP, 'Guilty Pleasure' is notable for at least two reasons: (1) it was named #7 album of 2009 by readers of Billboard Magazine, and (2) it sincerely goes off. While it was too little, too late at the time of its release, second single "Crank It Up" is post-'Blackout' electropop perfection, and on tracks like "Acting Out" and fan favorite "Hot Mess," Tisdale comes much closer to hitting the mark of good blonde girl gone bad (and brunette).

HIGHLIGHTS"Acting Out,""Hot Mess,""Erase and Rewind,""Crank It Up"

Kelly Clarkson - 'Meaning of Life' (2017)

BAD SINGLES Speaking of Kelly Clarkson: when it was announced that the OG American Idol had at last broken free from the shackles of her storied, acrimonious contract with RCA Records, fans and casual listeners alike rejoiced. When Clarkson hinted that the follow-up to 2015's half-hearted 'Piece By Piece' would see her returning to the soulful roots she planted on her debut nearly 15 years prior, fans and casual listeners alike damn near lost their minds. So one can imagine the disappointment brought on by "Love So Soft" (#47), a song more reminiscent of Meghan Trainor than Aretha Franklin, particularly from an artist who managed to make the pop rock she only sort of enjoyed recording sound so individual and electric.

GOOD ALBUM'Meaning of Life' would open at #2 despite "Love So Soft"'s underwhelming sound and performance, but hearing the other 12 1/2 tracks it's easy to become all the more frustrated by its selection as lead single. Clarkson is in full command of her voice and its seemingly infinite shades on songs like "Heat" and "Meaning of Life," and she bridges the gap between her pop past and soulful present effortlessly on fan favorite "Go High." It's still early enough in the album's era for a killer second single - here's hoping Team KC chooses more wisely this time around.

HIGHLIGHTS"Meaning of Life,""Didn't I,""Would You Call That Love,""Go High"

Lena Dunham apologizes for defending alleged rapist Murray Miller

$

- Murray Miller, writer for Girls, has been accused of raping then 17 year old Aurora Perrineau. Lena Dunham and others have come to his defense due to their experiences with the writer. They are alleging that she blackmailed him and then went to The Wrap with her story after he refused to pay her.
- Lena and others have gotten heat on social media after their insensitive comments. Like always, Lena apologized:
As feminists, we live and die by our politics, and believing women is the first choice we make every single day when we wake up. Therefore I never thought I would issue a statement publically (sic) supporting someone accused of sexual assault, but I naively believed it was important to share my perspective on my friend’s situation as it has transpired behind the scenes over the last few months. I now understand that it was absolutely the wrong time to come forward with such a statement and I am so sorry. We have been given the gift of powerful voices and by speaking out we were putting our thumb on the scale and it was wrong. We regret this decision with every fiber of our being.
Every woman who comes forward deserves to be heard, fully and completely, and our relationship to the accused should not be part of the calculation anyone makes when examining her case. Every person and every feminist should be required to hear her. Under patriarchy, “I believe you” is essential. Until we are all believed, none of us will be believed. We apologize to any women who have been disappointed.

Forgotten Cult Shows: Part I
There's a ton of shows that have gathered cult followings from just the last two decades alone. These have become lost to time, technology-responsible memory loss and fickle audiences. All are of a wide range of genres, some are complete, some were killed off way before its time. Many of these shows have both moments that vacillate between pure brilliance and pure cheese. Let's indulge in pure nostalgia, shall we?
Science Fiction
Cleopatra 2525 (2000-20001)
Young exotic dancer Cleo is put into suspended animation after medical issues arise during cosmetic surgery. She awakens 525 years in the future. She promptly joins two warrior women, Hel & Sarge as part of a resistance group against the Baileys, flying robots who control the surface of Earth. All of humanity has moved underground, surviving using a series of shafts and tunnels. A disembodied female voice gives different teams of other hot warrior women, including Cleo's, orders to combat the machines. Corny dated pop culture jokes and phrases are abound.
Highlights: Gina Torres' supreme hotness, the women-driven cast including Jennifer Sky & Victoria Pratt, Gina Torres singing the theme song below, Canada-budget special effects
First Wave (1998-2001)
First Wave was a Sci-FI channel original program starring Sebastian Spence as Cade Foster. Cade is a security specialist whose life is ruined by alien race the Gua, who plan to enslave Earth (of course). He lives as a fugitive from their experiments and receives help from his friend and tech hacker Eddie. Later he receives aid and becomes frenemies with undercover rogue Gua Joshua (Roger Cross). Cade and Eddie use ancient alien Nostradamus' quatrains as tools to help prevent a triggering of the second wave, the invasion which will kill millions.
Highlights: Alien mythos, sympathetic protagonist, Traci Lords arrival in S3

Now and Again (1999-2000)
Middle-aged businessman Michael Wiseman as played first by John Goodman then Eric Close, dies in a drunken train accident. His brain is seized by the government without his family's knowledge and put in a hot, young artificially engineered body. Velvet-voiced Dennis Haysbert plays the head government scientist and his overseer. Michael is used involuntarily for experiments and to combat domestic terrorists. Secretly, he slips away to try to reconnect with his neglected wife and teenage daughter.
Highlights: John Goodman suddenly becoming Eric Close, Close & Haysbert's banter, a young Heather Matarazzo playing yet another obnoxious teenager
Horror
Forever Knight (1992-1996)
Geraint Wyn Davies (American Psycho 2) starred in this CBS Crimetime After Primetime show as Nick Knight, a sexy 'n' sad 800 year old vampire. Nick poses as a night shift detective to atone for the human lives he stole. He drives a sweet vintage convertible & has a bumbling, unattractive partner who always complains about the wife he should be lucky to have named Detective Schanke. His partner doesn't know his secret. A medical examiner Dr. Natalie Lambert who works at their station does know, played by Catherine Disher (X-Men/Dark Phoenix). Natalie is in deeply in love with Nick and it's your classic will-they-won't-they ship. Nick wants to find a cure to reverse his vampirism much to the vexation of his ancient maker and super obsessed murder husband, Lucien LaCroix (multiple cult show actor Nigel Bennett). Deborah Duchene also stars as Janette DuCharme, Nick's former vampire wife, club owner and participant in several scenes of passionately intense kissing.
Highlights: An entertaining vampire radio show, sometimes weird romance, Canada-budget special effects, seeing where CBS's Moonlight jacked it's premise
Point Pleasant (2005)
This was a cute little supernatural show that had a lot of potential. Elizabeth Hanois starred as Christina Nickson, daughter of Satan who washes up on a shore in New Jersey during a terrible storm. She moves in with the family of the town's doctor and weird shit begins to happen. The town is naturally suspicious of her. Grant Show plays her sleazy, charming demon guardian Lucas Boyd. Avoiding the apocalypse the antichrist may bring on relies on Christina's love interest Jesse rejecting her or accepting her love after pawing at her for a full season. At the series cliffhanger ending/finale, he rejects her and she engulfs the entire town of Point Pleasant Beach in the apocalypse, which....FUCK YEAH! Fuck 'em!
Highlights: Cool cinematography, vibrant apocalyptic visions, uncomfortable sexual tension
Psychological/Crime Thrillers
Profit (1996)
Where to start with this show....this show is the reason why shows like Dexter was able to thrive in the mid to late 2000s. Adrian Pasdar starred as Jim Profit, a ruthless corporate executive who would even resort to murder to climb to the top of the ladder at Gracen & Gracen. He was a handsome, charming, impeccably dressed sociopath who went home at the end of the day and climbed naked into a dirty cardboard box that served as his bed. Located inside of a hidden room in his expensive apartment where he planned out his cunning misdeeds on a janky computer. These habits stemmed from a highly abusive childhood from which he could not seem to fully escape. Lisa Blount shows up as his white trash stepmother with whom he has an inappropriate, mutually manipulative sexual relationship with. The general public was not ready for this escandaloso concept in 1996 and the show was cancelled after only four episodes aired.
Highlights: Jim Profit's uncomfortable attractiveness, secret lesbian affairs, corporate intrigue, amusing fourth wall usage, Canada-budget special effects

Silk Stalkings (1991-1999)
This show had too many numerous cast changes throughout its eight season run to mention. Silk Stalkings was about two hot detectives that were ex-partners-->who married-->divorced-->were involuntarily partnered again. They solved the high-profile crimes of passion committed by the super rich in Palm Beach, Florida.
Highlights: Gawking at the 90s idea of "steamy" television, flirty co-leads, black people actually exist in this Palm Beach
Supernatural
Brimstone (1998-1999)
The backstory is silly and contains some unnecessary overused tropes, so let's skip that. All you really need to know is Peter Horton plays Zeke Stone, a dead New York City cop brought back to life to track down 113 escaped souls from Hell. The souls have turned to strong demons of course, so Zeke is given powers to help with bagging them. In return for complete success, Satan will give him a second chance on Earth. The Devil (who is powerless on Earth for some reason) played marvelously by John Glover, is there along the way to guide, tease and aggravate Zeke. Teri Polo also stars as a detective/priestess who is having an affair with the Devil and is responsible for the chaos.
Highlights: John Glover, honestly
Carnivale (2003-2005)
This is another one of those shows that owe a debt to Profit. Carnivale is a bizarre, amusing, often convoluted series about a traveling carnival during the Dust Bowl. The basic theme of the show was good: Healer Ben Hawkins (Nick Stahl) vs evil: Brother Justin Crowe (Clancy Brown). Nearly everyone who crosses these two's paths have terrible fates eventually befall them. Brother Justin is a demonic traveling preacher who has an incestous relationship with his creepy, scheming older sister (I know a certain subset of y'all are into that, but keep it out of my post please!). The supporting cast and their various powers is pretty good. The show also shares cast members with Twin Peaks. It's atmospheric and the cinematography is accurately depressing and period specific. This was another show HBO pulled the plug on before it could reach its full potential and at least sort plot points out.
Highlights: Clancy Brown, Clancy Brown-ing as usual. Lesbian goddess Clea DuVall as a psychic/telepath

ONTD Original: 10 Facts About Sexy Action Stars Pam Grier and Reiko Ike

$
0
0
These two ladies gained recognition by kicking ass, taking names, and looking good while doing it. They starred in numerous action-erotica films that created their celebrity almost overnight. Both women had a passion for playing strong-willed characters that out shined everyone else. Pam enjoyed portraying a heroic crusader against the criminal menace that plagued black neighborhoods. Reiko leaned a bit more in the opposite direction, taking roles of a female yakuza boss or wild rebel, but did play parts similar to Pam's characters that fought against injustice.

Pam Grier
nJXqsL.jpg
“My life is probably more interesting and dangerous than some of the movies I’ve done,” she said."

Pam was a prominent face in the film genre called "blaxploitation". However, she has since rejected that label for her films on the basis of discrimination. She felt she was just as much an action star as the rest of her male counterparts. She played a pivotal role in black films during the 70's and 80's. She was so iconic that Quentin Tarantino changed the original screenplay for "Jackie Brown" from a white woman into a black woman so he could hire Pam. The film revitalized her career and she became big star once again.

1) First black female action heroine
2) Was raped at age 6 and again when she was 18
3) Diagnosed with cervical cancer in her 30s and was told she would only have 18 months to live
4) Some of her films are considered "groundbreaking" for their portrayals of strong black women
5) Was offered a chance to be on "The Apprentice", but turned it down after doing her "due diligence" on Trump
6) Some people criticized her for playing characters "too manly"
7) Her father was a mechanic in the military and her mother was a nurse
8) Injured herself doing stunts for her movies
9) She didn't have a stunt woman until "Foxy Brown"
10) Pam feels the difference between action scenes in her time vs now are "sports bras"

Reiko Ike
nJXo51.jpg
"the very epitome [of] the cinematic bad girl, playing her role with a sense of collected cool and tough attitude that can rival that of even better known North American tough gals such as Tura Satana from Faster Pussycat… Kill! Kill! or Pam Grier in Foxy Brown." -Yuko Mihara Weisser

Rumors have circled the beginnings of Reiko's career. No one knows for sure how she got into the industry. But once she did, she became a well known face in Pink films in Japan. Unlike other Pink film actresses, Reiko was known for her "Pink violence" films which allowed her to become an action star in her own right. Information regarding Reiko's career and personal life is scarce. So we'll take a look at the facts we do have.

1) In 1971, Reiko starred in her first film, "Hot Springs Mimizu Geisha".
2) Reiko claimed she was underage when she filmed "Hot Springs Mimizu Geisha" and caused such a controversy the film was the studio's best selling of the 70's.
3) In "Modern Porno Tale: Inherited Sex Mania" the Japanese film board didn't like the graphic sex scene between Reiko and French actress Sandra Julien
4) She released an album "Kokotsu No Sekaithat" was labeled "erotic kayôkyoku" due to her soft moans and breathy singing throughout the record
5) Reiko stopped appearing nude in films after "Modern Porno Tale: Inherited Sex Mania"
6) Reiko moved on to more action packed "delinquent girl" S&M films.
7) She had a tabloid rivalry with fellow actress and co-star Miki Sugimoto
8) Was Toei's top sex actress and one of the most popular sex icons in Japan during the 70s
9) She played in 22 films
10) She left the industry after two arrests for drug-related crime and illegal gambling

In the peak era of exploitation films, these women helped show the world there could be more to the genre than just gratuitous nudity. Their films will be remembered for their hot scenes and tough leading women.
