Peter Bergman Previews Young and the Restless' Jack/Summer Bombshell!

These are rough times for Jack Abbott. First, the high-strung cosmetics mogul was shot during his wedding and paralyzed. Then he got addicted to painkillers. Now he's about to find out that he's the birth father of Summer and that, Nick and Phyllis, have been hiding the truth from him. TV Guide spoke with Bergman to get a preview of the big reveal, airing Tuesday, July 9.

TV Guide: Well, you sure can't complain about a lack of Jack drama! Yikes.
Bergman: You're right! I have had so much over the last year, one thing playing right into the other — and the best part is that we're talking about huge, emotional struggles and honest efforts to get back on his feet, not crazy, fantastical stuff. And this thing with Summer...wow! It hits Jack right in his most vulnerable spot. All his life he's been striving for the thing he can't have — a solid, happy family. Jack's mother walked away when he was just a teenager. And he's so desperate to keep his dead dad around, he keeps conjuring him up! The loss of family is powerful.

TV Guide: So how does Jack react to the good news-bad news?
Bergman: At first he's just gobsmacked. It's pure shock, because he's always felt a special connection to Summer. So, in that way, his dream has come true. But, then, he can't get to the bottom of things fast enough. How long has Nick known? How long has Phyllis? Jack has always had a soft spot for Nick. He helped raise the kid.

TV Guide: Or get back all those lost years?
Bergman: Yes! Nick fucked this up so royally there is no undoing it. Jack has lost such precious time with Summer. Think of all of her birthday parties he was invited to, where he felt like a fifth wheel. This is such a huge betrayal

TV Guide: Where does this leave him and Summer?
Bergman: You know, it's funny. As an actor I always say that it's much easier to kiss a stranger on screen — someone who has just joined the cast — than it is to suddenly start making out with someone you've worked with for years. That's similar for Jack and Summer. The scenes where the two of them are finally alone together are brilliantly written. It's some of the best material I've had in a long time, and Hunter is absolutely spectacular. And, of course, as you know we've lost Michelle Stafford. How does Jack maintain a relationship with Summer if there's no Phyllis around? Plus there are more big things coming that will distract Jack from the situation with Summer in a huge way.

First Look At Kendall’s Return To Pine Valley!

Kendall is heading back to Pine Valley and AccessHollywood.com has your exclusive first look at a photo from her All My Children return.

Alicia Minshew filmed a brief return as Kendall for the soap, which currently is available on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes.

Bianca and Kendall will be discussing Kendall’s health issues. Bianca thinks Kendall should “reveal the truth,” according to The OnLine Network, but fans will have to tune in for the July 8 episode of All My Children to see what happens.

Earlier this year, Eden spoke to AccessHollywood.com about her on screen sister’s return.

“She is coming back for a cameo… and I got to work with her… which was just amazing. Staring into her big brown eyes everything came flooding back, like our old relationship and we shared so many intimate scenes together and also we’re very, very close friends so it was a lovely reunion between Bianca and Kendall,” she said.

Minshew's episode will be available starting Monday, July 8.

Michelle Stafford ‘GH’ Bound?!

The newest issue of CBS Soaps In Depth, citing multiple sources, is reporting that there may be truth to reported rumors that Michelle Stafford is leaving Phyllis Summers and “The Young and the Restless” to head to ABC’s “General Hospital.”

According to one of the mags sources, “It would be a big coup to get Michelle, and ‘GH’ knows it.” This is of course in response to “Y&R” and “GH” swapping cast members. In January, Steve Burton (ex-Jason Morgan, “GH”) joined “Y&R” as Dylan McAvoy, and in April, Emme Rylan (ex-Abbie Newman) joined “GH” as Lulu Spencer.

Despite a source close to Stafford stating to the mag that reports of her joining is “not true,” the mag cites another source who says they “wouldn’t doubt” that the actress would be joining “GH” down the road.

A source close to the soap and actress tells Soap Opera Network, “there is no truth to the rumor that Michelle is going to ‘GH’ … at least not in the immediate future.” They added, “She didn’t leave to jump right to another show.”

DAYS: Where’d Drake Go?!

For weeks “Days of our Lives” fans have been asking that question after actor Drake Hogestyn (John Black) tweeted he last taped an episode of the NBC Daytime drama series on March 18 (scheduled to air Wednesday, July 17). In his tweet he said, “Given a chance off the bench, I’m sure I could hit a homer for J&M. #putmeincoach.” Fans were given some hope when Soap Opera Digest reported in its June 24 issue that the actor “has reported back to work after a brief hiatus from the show.”

The report was found under the ”Stuff We Know (and shouldn’t tell you)” section. Sadly, the mag didn’t actually know as Digest semi-retracted its reporting per the Tuesday, July 9 issue citing comments from Hogestyn’s daughter, Alex, who took to Facebook to say that her father was not filming again. “[The] report is not true. My dad has not been back filming, I wish he was though!”

According to Jason47.com, the definitive “Days of our Lives” fan archive, Hogestyn has been removed from the “DAYS” credits as of the Tuesday, July 2 episode. “Drake Hogestyn (John) was quietly removed from the credits today, signaling that he is no longer on contract,” the website stated. Hogestyn, who regularly follows on screen love interest Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) in the credits, was also noticeably absent on the Wednesday, July 3 episode.

“Days of our Lives” has yet to issue comment on the status of Hogestyn and his future with the soap.

Twitter Hoax Raises, Then Dashes Hopes for ‘GH’ Fans!

Proving you can’t believe everything you read or see tweeted, earlier this evening a Twitter posting said to be by John Reilly, who portrayed Sean Donely on ABC’s “General Hospital” from 1984 through 1995 and again for a couple of episodes on “General Hospital: Night Shift” in 2008, stated the actor would be returning to the soap after nearly a 20 year absence.

The tweet raised the hopes of many fans only to have those hopes get dashed not too longer afterward.

A spokesperson for the soap confirms to Soap Opera Network that the tweet was not by Reilly and that the handle is in fact a fake. “Not the real John Reilly,” the spokesperson said.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES alum Jason Brooks on the different between working in daytime versus primetime!

Jason Brooks is in the upcoming movie The Perfect Boyfriend – set to air on Friday, July 5 on LMN at 8PM/ET/9PM/PT. His list of television credits is long and includes Revolution, Body of Proof and Switched at Birth. However you might know him best for his role as Peter Blake on Days Of Our Lives.

In The Perfect Boyfriend Brooks plays Chuck who becomes part of a plot to get a hold of a single mom’s wealth. Celebrity Baby Scoop exclusively asked the actor on the making of the movie, fatherhood, and having the “perfect” marriage.

CBS: Tell us about your character Chuck in The Perfect Boyfriend?
JB: Chuck is basically a good guy, but gets in his own way. In an effort reap the benefits of a large construction development, he gets involved in the wrong way of doing business with the wrong kind of people. Along the way, he breaks his promises to his ex-wife and, more importantly, his son, and places himself and them in danger…

CBS: What was it like working with your fellow actors?
JB: Great! It was a fun group to work with! Ashley (Scott) was an absolute delight. Beautiful, charming, talented and present. Karen- also beautiful, AND funny! It’s hard to believe someone that sweet could play a character who is that bat sh– crazy… Aidan (Turner), from here on to be referred to as “The Most Handsome Man Alive” is a great guy. Cool and laid back…

CBS: You played a villain on Days of Our Lives – is there a difference between acting in a soap opera and a prime time television series?
JB: The biggest difference is the time. To do an hour of a soap, it takes a day which is about 70-80 script pages. In primetime, you have about 8 days to do the equivalent amount of pages so you have more of an opportunity for quality. There’s also more money being put towards the production value of a primetime show which allows it to look better.

CBS: Out of all your television credits – do you have a favorite role?
JB: Hmmn. Tough one. I’d say the one I cringe the least when I watch is “Connor Banes” in “Without A Trace”. Maybe “Thomas Gates” in “The Pretender”, largely because I enjoyed working with Andrea Parker so much…

CBS: You’ve been married to your wife for over two decades, do you have advice on having a “perfect” marriage?
JB: It wiil be 26 years this month (we met in grade school for you smart-ass mathematicians).

The first piece of advice I’d give on having a perfect marriage is to understand that there is no such thing. The important thing is that we are all humans and we’re imperfect and we all make mistakes and that we need to learn from our mistakes. The path of your relationship is about growing together, not perpetuating to same mistakes for the duration of your time together. Equally important is that we understand that our partners make mistakes as well and that we need not just to forgive, but to accept these mistakes as a catalyst for learning/growth.

It’s different for every couple, but two very strong areas in my relationship with my wife, Corinne, are our companionship – we truly enjoy each other’s company and our active partnership in parenting our children…plus, I just do what she says. It’s a lot easier that way…

CBS: You have two sons, what are their names and ages? Tell us a little about them and what they’re into.
JB: Kanan is 11 and Jaredan is 14. They’re both really into basketball which was my sport so I’m very excited…

CBS: Are you a strict dad or a laid back one? What’s something you love about fatherhood?
JB: By today’s standards, I’m strict. By my parents’ generational standards, I’m a pushover. Recently, I took away one of my sons’ cellphone for a day because he did something he wasn’t supposed to do. Pretty much says it all… One of the things I love about fatherhood is watching their personalities develop enabling them to become their own men.

CBS: What are your summer plans?
JB: Well, we were supposed to take several family trips including a family reunion on my wife’s side. However, amidst of teaching some 20-something year-olds the finer points of the game of basketball at my gym, I tore my Achilles’ tendon which is requiring 4-6 weeks of staying off of it and months of physical therapy to recover from the surgery. Our plans were somewhat thwarted by the injury, but we did send our children on two of the trips.

Date Night With Redaric Williams!

Young & the Restless hottie, Redaric Williams isn’t exactly winning at love on the daytime soup, but he tries to make sure his three sisters, including a twin, are equipped to play the game well.

He admitted getting into a lot of fights when he was younger, but the once protective model-turned-actor, has learned to live by the mantra: “If you love it, I like it.” However, he may still offer his siblings some romantic advice from the male perspective from time to time.

Tracy: What advice do you give your sisters?
Redaric: Don’t be naïve. I always tell [my twin sister], make sure that whatever your objective is, that you address that. Sometimes guys tend to get a little too caught up in the masculine, wanting things their way. Make sure you stand your ground as a woman and make sure that you’re assertive in that way. Your opinion does make a difference. Always be respected.

Tracy: Should men always pay?
Redaric: I think a man should pay. However, don’t put yourself in a situation where a guy starts to pay for things and then they start to feel like they have something over you or anything like that. A woman should always be capable, but she’s not responsible.

Katie Couric isn't happy about gossipy new direction for 'Katie,' say insiders!

Katie Couric’s talk show, “Katie,” is taking a turn in the wrong direction — according to her, anyway.
Confidenti@l has learned the syndicated daytime show will be “gossip-centric” in its second season, since a behind-the-scenes shakeup replaced executive producer Michael Morrison with “The Tyra Banks Show” executive producer Rachel Miskowiec.

Couric, who is also a co-executive producer on the show, is upset at being “dumbed down,” a source says, and was set on calling it quits after season one. Then Miskowiec arrived and promised a nice middle ground of hard-hitting news and softer fare — but count on it being more on the light side, says our source.

“If there is one thing Katie hates more than being called ‘perky,’ it's being called ‘tabloid,’ ” our source says. “She thinks of herself as a serious journalist, covering stories that make a difference. She’s fighting this.”

Couric has made it clear she wants to be taken seriously at work, and at the studio she has even made fun of our culture’s obsession with celebrity.

“Katie comes from a world of TV journalists that think appealing to the lowest common denominator — celebrity — is cheap,” the source says. “Jerry Springer-type TV is not something she is interested in. Anderson Cooper vowed to do the same. He hated covering gossip. He even refused to say the name ‘Paris Hilton’ on TV, and look what happened to his daytime TV show — it got canceled.”

The new plan for Couric’s show — which airs locally on ABC — will involve a healthy dose of gossip, fashion and pop culture segments, our source says, adding that gorgeous talking heads will drop by to weigh in with Couric.

While that might not be ideal for Couric, our insider says, “She’s also got brains, so for the show to work, she needs to do it.”

Ironically, when the cameras are off, no one likes gossip more than Couric, our insider says.

“She knows who is dating who, who is looking for a new job, everything. She reads celebrity websites and can name all of Brad and Angie’s kids, yet on camera it just makes her cringe,” the source laughs. “She is worried about what Matt Lauer and Diane Sawyer will think. She worked hard to be taken seriously.”

When “Katie” launched in September, the hope was that the show would propel Couric into talk-queen status. But ever since show creator Jeff Zucker called it quits to run CNN, Couric has struggled to find a way to stick to her values while getting ratings.

Former GUIDING LIGHT star Robert Newman explores his dark side at the Barn Theatre!

Newman's latest role is Sidney Bruhl in "Deathtrap." Bruhl, the scheming playwright in the classic stage comedy-thriller, is a bit more subtle than Hook, but he's got his dark side.

"Hook's a psychopath in a bizarre way, too," Newman said. "He's constantly talking about murdering the boys, children."

Coming out to the Barn, where he got his start in 1981, is a vacation for Newman.

"I adore this theater." And he loves the community -- getting breakfast in Galesburg is much more pleasant for him than doing the same in NYC. "It's a nice break for me from the business ... This business can just beat the crap out of you. When I come here I feel I can just shove all that aside and focus on playing a great role."

Being ‘Wicked’ suits famed actress Kim Zimmer!

In Madame Morrible’s big, frizzy, upswept wig and voluminous Ozian costume, Kim Zimmer disappears so deep in her character in “Wicked” that she walks out the stage door, and fans who watched her for decades as Reva Shayne, the primary romantic lead on GUIDING LIGHT, don’t recognize her.

“I walk right past people who make no comment,” Zimmer said by telephone from a coffee shop in Columbus, Ohio, where “Wicked” stopped before beginning a five-week run at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music. “The night after they see the show, I find people waiting who say, ‘I loved you as Reva on the GUIDING LIGHT. I didn’t know it was you until I got home and read the program. When I realized who you were, I had to come back to get your autograph.’”

“Soaps did not fold because the audience became tired of them,” Zimmer said. “They just became too costly."

“You can analyze it, but you can’t do anything about it. So you move on. I’m an actor. I will find a place to act. For this period of time, it’s in the theater, and thank goodness for it."

AS THE WORLD TURNS alum Jake Silberamnn covers Times Square Magazine!

"My favorite thing about [playing Noah] was I was able to help a few people. It's way more than I could have ever asked out of a role like that. It was part of this growing movement of acceptance and tolerance." Silbermann is currently starring on Broadway in "The Assembled Parties" with 2013 Tony Award winner Judith Light.

Hillary B. Smith & Robert S. Woods On Production Halt and Resolution, Writing of Bo and Nora & OLTL Losing at The Emmys!

On-Air On-Soaps caught up with the duo last week during a press junket to ask three burning questions we wanted to know … how did the twosome feel when they heard the news of the early hiatus that was imposed by the labor union, How do they feel about how their characters have been written for? And, why do they think One Life get no love ever at the Daytime Emmys.

When you heard about the labor dispute between the Union and Prospect Park and received the news that the production of One Life to Live had to suspend a week earlier than anticipated … what were you thoughts?

HILLARY: I started laughing. I really did. I looked at Woodsy and was giggling.

ROBERT: We were actually working and we had to go back and shoot scenes, and my phone rang and there was an email, really a brief statement. I leaned out the door and said to people, “Did anyone else just get an email?” And then when we were on the set it was like, “What do we do now?” Hillary, you were not ready to see it go? You did not believe it would happen, did you?

HILLARY: Well, I spoke. You heard what I said to the crew. I wanted to go on record, because I wasn’t sure how this was going to play out and there were a lot of dynamics that went on the weeks prior before both sides started talking. And, I had seen the guys walk out the door of the studio. And I went, “Oh, I don’t think that’s good.” I was with our costume designer, Susan Gammie getting a fitting and then Robert Gorrie (Matthew) came in and showed me the email. There was a part of me that went, “This just can’t happen again. It just can’t!” And then there was another part of me that went, “It could.” When we did our then last scene, and we had to be out by 11am, and we finished at 10:15. I got up and spoke and said on behalf of everyone in the scene, “It has been an honor and privilege to be part of this reboot,” and I truly believe that. It has been an honor and a privilege to be part of this reboot to see Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank, and Jennifer Pepperman and Ginger Smith, pour all of their heart and soul into this, and the staff and the crew. I said, “We are a family. It’s been wonderful to come to be with our family again. And, for those of you who weren’t a part of it before, you are now. We are family and this is what coming to work means.” I just wanted everyone to know that, and I wasn’t sure if that was my “goodbye”, but I wanted them to know how touched I was by this whole experience, and being part of it.

ROBERT: So now when we get back, Hillary you can say, “See, what I told you guys?”

Recently, there were new head writers appointed for One Life to Live, whose work fans will not see until the show resumes production later in summer. How do you feel about how your characters were written for thus far?

ROBERT: Jennifer Pepperman is still there, and she is not going to let anyone get to off track! I have been happy thus far on how they have written the Bo and Nora relationship. I haven’t had any real grievances with things I have bee asked to do, or the way it was written. I think they have written pretty well. I am always concerned more about the police department which feels like it has saloon doors, where anybody can just walk in and out! (Laughs) That stuff does not apply! Try walking down to the 20th precinct in New York City.

HILLARY: I have been ecstatic the way they have been writing Nora. I feel light as a bird and unfettered, and not carrying any major heartache around. So this is nothing but sheer joy.

Two weekends ago, One Life to Live was nominated for its final time in its ABC version for Outstanding Drama Series for the last two episodes of its historic run at the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The last episode featured those heartfelt moments between Bo and Nora, and Bo and his son, Matthew. The episodes were brilliant, and yet, once again, One Life left the Emmys with no cigar, or shall we say no gold! Why do you think this show can’t ever catch a break for the big award of the night?

HILLARY: Politics are huge when it comes to Emmys. I don’t think One Life to Live had any political support when it comes to winning an Emmy. As a matter of fact, if it had won Outstanding Drama Series that would have been a kind of … ahem… awkward moment for ABC. I love the fact that Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati were nominated for two shows. I thought that was great. I am sorry that they didn’t win. I don’t quite understand how the voting system works anymore. All I know is, it was a win for our fans.

ROBERT: I did not know the Emmys were even on a few Sunday nights ago until I got a text from Eddie Alderson, telling me that Kristen Alderson had won! That is great! And I got a great picture of Eddie who looked like a movie star there! He had a tuxedo on, but he was wearing it the way you are supposed to wear a tux, with a tie! He looked great. I was texting him back as I was watching the NBA finals, so I never caught the Emmy telecast. I was trying to find a replay of it, but I guess I was too late.

Turner Is The Perfect Boyfriend!

Aiden Turner has made a career out of playing good guys and heroes like ALL MY CHILDREN's Aidan Devane. For the first time, now he's taking on the role of the villain in the Lifetime Movie Network Original, The Perfect Boyfriend. Premiering Friday, July 5, at 8 p.m. EST, the film stars Turner as an undeniably charming man who, together with his greedy wife (Jennifer Taylor), has a truly sinister agenda!

"The plan is for him to meet up with his high school crush, April (Ashley Scott), at their reunion," Turner explains. "Then seduce her, murder her mother, and [eventually] inherit the millions himself [to share with his wife]." However, agreeing to the plan and watching her husband become romantically involved with another woman proves easier said than done for the wife who takes stalking to new levels. Will her fears be founded?

"My character realizes that April has all these qualities that he wishes his wife had," Turner previews. "So he really wants to get rid of her and scrap the plan!" While playing all the twists and turns, Turner had a blast wearing the proverbial black hat. "It's a role that's painfully different from myself," he admits. "I just enjoyed the subtleties of being a deceitful, crafty, dishonest scumbag!" Are there lessons to be learned for the not-so-perfect man? The ending will leave viewers gasping. "It's a bit of a surprise!" Turner teases with a grin.

Lisa LoCicero Signs New Contract With General Hospital!

In this week’s Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now it reveals that General Hospital favorite, Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) has signed a new contract with the ABC soap opera. LoCicero joined GH back in 2008.

LoCicero related to SOD about some initial concern about her current negotiations stating, “It was so funny because we were in contract negotiations at the time I got the call saying Olivia was going to get shot and I was like, “Uh, wait a minute … (Laughs). Of course, it has been planned for a long time but I still kept thinking, “Not a good time for a physical misfortune to befall your character (Laughs).”

Paul was horrified that Ricky had died from the fall out of the window. Eden regained consciousness but had no memory of what Ricky had said or done. Paul explained that he had shot Ricky to prevent him from killing Eden. Michael stated that the gun Paul had used the serial numbers filed off, making it seem like Paul had planned to shoot his son. Lauren told Michael that it was her gun. Michael feared that Lauren would do jail time for violating her probation. Cane was upset by a mysterious email from "Shirl" to "Claude," the secret nicknames he and Samantha had used for each other as kids. Genevieve swore she'd had nothing to do with the email, and Cane assumed Colin was the culprit. Abby returned and declared that Carmine was her boyfriend. The police arrested the pair, but Abby was able to make a deal to do community service. Michael planned to prosecute Carmine for kidnapping. Jeff and Gloria were impressed by Chelsea's engagement to Adam. Anita returned to reveal that Jeff was Chelsea's father. Anita threatened to tell Gloria that Anita and Jeffrey were still married unless Jeffrey paid her off. Nina convinced Paul to let Christine be his attorney. Daniel was exonerated in Daisy's disappearance when Michael discovered that Ricky had disposed of Daisy's wallet and phone before his death.

50 Cent proves he's not in jail

50 Cent has a message for all the naysayers out there.

Less than 24 hours after denying domestic violence and vandalism charges related to his ex girlfriend, the rapper (or a very reliable assistant) has taken to Instagram to prove his innocence . . . and the fact that he’s not in jail.

In more than a dozen snapshots, the 37-year-old can be seen in places that resemble anything but jail.

Lucky for you, Celebuzz has collected a handful of the best photos and captions, above.

On Thursday, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, released a statement through his attorney.

“Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him. It is important to note, Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest,” according to 50 Cent’s camp.

James Cameron Laments 3D Blockbusters; Says ‘Man of Steel’ &‘Iron Man 3’ Didn’t Need 3D

$

Part of James Cameron's duties as King of the World? Calling out movies that were unnecessarily released in 3D.

The "Avatar" director has been on that beat since 2010. "3D's here, and it's got an enormous amount of momentum," Cameron said in a 2010 interview with Movieline. "Hopefully, the best outcome is that the audience is smarter and they know to be discriminating, and the studios are smarter and they know not to abuse the market. I'd like to think that's the case, going forward."

Later that year, Cameron called out the movie "Piranha 3D" for lessening the format that he worked so hard to perfect in "Avatar."

"One thing is shooting in 3D and another to convert to 3D," Cameron said during a chat with director Alfonso Cuaron. "After 'Avatar' changed everything, good and bad movies, everything has to be in 3D. The problem I see now is that instead of it being a filmmaker issue, it's a matter of the studios trying to make money and pushing 3D to directors who are not comfortable or do not like 3D."

"I tend almost never to throw other films under the bus, but that is exactly an example of what we should not be doing in 3D," Cameron told Vanity Fair. "Because it just cheapens the medium and reminds you of the bad 3D horror films from the 70s and 80s, like 'Friday the 13th 3D.'

When movies got to the bottom of the barrel of their creativity and at the last gasp of their financial lifespan, they did a 3D version to get the last few drops of blood out of the turnip. And that’s not what’s happening now with 3D. It is a renaissance — right now the biggest and the best films are being made in 3D. Martin Scorsese is making a film in 3D 'Hugo'. Disney’s biggest film of the year -- 'Tron: Legacy' -- is coming out in 3-D. So it’s a whole new ballgame."

Wrapping up, he says that films like Man of Steel and Iron Man 3 “should not necessarily be in 3D. If you spend $150 million on visual effects, the film is already going to look spectacular and perfect.”

LHHATL's Kirk Frost claims he cheated on Rasheeda (ON TV) because "somebody drugged him"

Kirk Frost has a perfectly good explanation for why he cheated on his pregnant wife: Someone slipped something in his drink!

This week on “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” Kirk decided to take some time away from Rasheeda and cut up with his boys Benzino and Bobby Valentino. While Benzino thought it was just going to be a guys’ weekend, Bobby decided to invite some girls.

That’s where things went left for Kirk, who kissed another woman on camera and took two girls back to his room. While his behavior was just the latest bad decision he’s made in his marriage, he thinks it was entirely his fault. If anything, he blamed his environment and his friends for cheating on Rasheeda.

“That was kind of out of hand for me. I was drinking hanging with Benzino and Bobby V” Kirk told HelloBeautiful.com. “I think somebody put something in the drink. I was like, ‘That’s not me.’ But it happened. That was the liquor.”

Most people are expecting Kirk and Rasheeda to announce their rumored divorce, but the couple said they’re working on the relationship. “I’m probably in a lot of trouble right now,” said Kirk, who added that he’s trying to get back into Rasheeda’s good graces. “I’m going to do my best. Hopefuly time will heal it. I don’t have a lot to say.”

Even though VH1 viewers just saw it happen last night, Kirk said that his indiscretion is old news, stating, “I did that last year.”

Rasheeda, some boss chick you are! Keep your marriage together until next season of LHHATL then divorce him on reality tv. These two, smh.

Beck performed his 'Song Reader' album – which was released in a book of sheet music last year – in full last night (July 4) with Jarvis Cocker and Franz Ferdinand – scroll down to watch footage of it.

Beth Orton, Charlotte Gainsbourg and The Mighty Boosh also joined Beck onstage at London's Barbican. A house band comprising of Seb Rochford, Tom Herbert and The Invisible's Dave Okumu also performed throughout the night, with music direction courtesy of Ed Harcourt and David Coulter.

'Song Reader' was released in December 2012, and includes 20 songs and more than 100 pages of art. Beck's idea for the release is that the listener becomes the artist, with all 20 songs open to interpretation by different individuals.

Beck will follow up last night's gig with solo shows in Cambridge and London on July 6 and 7 respectively. He also recently released two new tracks - 'Defriended' and 'I Won't Be Long'. Speaking exclusively to NME about his latest projects, Beck said that although he'll be releasing plenty of new material in the near future, he has no firm plans to make an album. "For 10 years I've been talking about putting out a series of 12-inch singles, one at a time. But I was holding them back 'cos I wasn't sure what I was doing with them. And I just wanted people to hear them."

NEW YORK (AP) — Beyonce has a stepmother.

Her father and former manager, Mathew Knowles, got married last Sunday. His representative told The Associated Press on Friday that he has wed former model Gena Charmaine Avery in Houston, Texas. The pair had been engaged for a year and a half.

The 48-year-old Avery is a realtor. The 61-year-old Knowles guided his daughter to superstardom with the group Destiny's Child and later in her solo career; she released her father as her manager in 2011.

Knowles, head of Music World Entertainment, still manages several gospel acts including Grammy-winner Le'Andria Johnson.

Knowles and Beyonce's mother, Tina, divorced in 2009 after 29 years of marriage and two children — Beyonce and her sister, fellow singer Solange.

Guy Pearce: Five Best Moments

$
0
0
Guy Pearce started out, like all good Australian actors, in Neighbours, but has since gone on to make his name as one of Hollywood's most reliable character actors.

He returns to our screens later this month in Drake Doremus's New York based drama Breathe In, so to whet your appetite we're taking a look at five of his best performances.

So are there any we are missing? Let us know in the thread below.

1. LA Confidential

Back in the 90s, where fresh-faced Guy was winning over critics in an ensemble crime movie with fellow Aussie rising star Russell Crowe. In LA Confidential, Pearce plays an idealistic young cop eager to prove himself in the police force, and accidentally offends Lana Turner in the process.

2. Memento

Memento was a career-defining moment for Pearce with his memorable performance as a man doomed to forget. In Christopher Nolan's second feature Pearce plays Leonard Shelby, an insurance investigator who loses the ability to form new memories following an incident in which his wife was murdered. With nothing but his own notes and photos to guide him, Leonard goes in search of his wife's killer. Pearce was far from Nolan's first choice for the part, behind Brad Pitt and Aaron Eckhart among others, but it's now hard to imagine anyone else inhabiting the role in quite the way he does. Vulnerable and permanently bemused, the film was praised for its accurate portrayal of a memory loss victim.

3. Lawless

Lawless, the bootlegging western set during prohibition, finally made it to our screens in 2012. Among an all-star cast, including Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy and Shia LaBoeuf, Pearce still manages to stand out as Charlie Rakes, the special deputy from Chicago sent to Virginia to close down the sale of illegal liquor for good. With a parting to rival Moses, Pearce exudes bad-guy every second he's on screen.

4. The King's Speech

The incredibly successful King's Speech saw Pearce as soon-to-be king Edward VIII. His portrayal of the prickly, antagonistic prince opposite Colin Firth's earnest George VI showed Pearce really can act in any accent.

5. Lockout

Is Lockout one of Pearce's best films? No. But in terms of showing his range, his foray into loud action nonsense shouldn't be forgotten. He plays a wisecracking badass called Snow who's tasked to rescue the president's daughter from a giant space prison overrun by its violent inmates. Pearce seriously bulked up to play the role, an accomplishment that shouldn't have been too challenging for the former amateur bodybuilder. Once holding the title of Mr Junior Victoria, Pearce shows that being a bodybuilder and being able to act aren't mutually exclusive.

At some point they figure out you don’t know who is who and they bust you like you’re some outrageously impolite bastard. Yeah, it’s that, or, you two fucking zygotes look exactly the same. Don’t give me that crap about how one of you has the slightly more narrow nose. You’re a novelty act. I can’t tell the Shannon Twins apart. I know one digs chicks and the other one was engaged to Pete from Smallville who went to jail for having a trunk full of Oxy. Different stories, but they’re asses still look identical.

Miranda July Curates Private Emails from Celebrities in New Digital Art Project

If getting inside the heads of celebrities sounds appealing to you, then you are going to love Miranda July‘s latest project “We Think Alone.” The author/filmmaker has asked ten famous people to share previously sent private emails so that she can use them to craft digital portraits. Participants include: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lena Dunham, Kirsten Dunst, Sheila Heti, Etgar Keret, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Catherine Opie, Lee Smolin and Danh Vo.

Readers can opt in to receive a weekly email newsletter with communications from all ten of the personalities. The emails were all sent prior to this project to someone in their life. The emails were personally chosen by the sender. Every week will have a different theme. The first theme is money. Here is more from the project’s description:

…our inner life is not actually the same thing as our life on the computer — a quiet person might !!!! a lot. A person with a busy mind might write almost nothing. And of course while none of these emails were originally intended to be read by me (much less you*) they were all carefully selected by their authors in response to my list of email genres — so self-portraiture is quietly at work here.

Dear Pierre,

I understood from my agents that we will not collaborate on the 9.99 book.

Although I do not know much about the exact reasons for that I have been publishing books long enough to know that it is a very fluid and ever-changing sphere of creation and that there are countless reasons why such a change could happen.

However, since publishing this book and having the chance to collaborate with you as a publisher are of special importance for me I had found it important to write this personal email to help and clarify things:

If the main reason for that change is the writer's fee which was agreed for Tatia and me, I, personally, would be happy to receive less. If it is for any other reason than it is totally understandable too but I just want to "clear my conscience"

and be sure that our collaboration on this potentially beautiful book didn't end due to money issues.

Best wishes,

Dear V

S added you to the list, and she is talking today. My understanding is I will not be teaching at U of T, I can be on committees to supervise PhD students in philosophy, that's about it. I think its more symbolic than anything but I am proud of it as I have always aspired eventually to grow up to be a philosopher. I will drop into the thought experiment workshop time allowing, I will also be at a cosmology meeting at U of T next Tuesday.

If you are interested in the gauge theory and economics, the first thing to do is to read the first chapter of Pia Malaney's thesis: The Index Number Problem: A Differential Geometric Approach, Pia Nandini Malaney, Ph.D thesis Harvard University 1996. I don't recall if I sent it to you before. I also discuss it in my paper on the subject, did I send you that? One project I have in mind is to develop the application to issues on trade, I have a guess that the principle of comparative advantage, which is the main principle in economics of trade will be a theorem in a gauge theoretic approach to two countries trading two goods, but that it will fail to be generally true with more countries and goods. But once you study the material you may have your own ideas.

Hi Helen,

Well, you are asking the wrong person about how to make money. I have
less than $1000 in the bank and no credit card debt and no savings. I
am hoping that my new book will sell in the States and elsewhere in
the new year to save me. I recently sold a book to Faber which I wrote
with a friend of mine (sort of "everything my friend Misha knows" --
he spoke while I transcribed). They bought world rights for $7000,
half of which Misha takes. Minus Markus's commission.

I have many ideas and beginnings for new books which is what I plan to
work on in the new year, but it's a crazy way to live.

I tried to pitch a story to Glamour (sort of the DOs and DON'Ts of
setting up your friends) and while they finally accepted it, they kept
making it shorter and shorter. I don't know how much I'm going to get
from it in the end, but I figure, who has more money than American
women's magazines? I don't have an endless supply of ideas for that
genre, though.

I spent several months in the fall working as a temp. I am loathe to
take in a tenant in the extra room in my apartment, which is, anyway,
only $1000.

Why don't you come to Toronto? It's a very good place to be; not very
expensive, not so cold this year, and I could help you find a place.
Smart and serious people around and no big troubles.

I am thinking of self-publishing these books I have in mind. When I
think of your experience with YNH it seems harder than one would
expect. But I don't know why I should give world rights to a place
like Faber for $7000 -- I could make more than that, I think, selling
them on my own.

It's insane that you couldn't sell LR. I just don't understand that. Is it really too
contoversial? That's scary. I wish I had my own press.

Maybe if you send me your most recent version I could pass it to some
people I know at big presses in Canada (Random House, etc). It might
not make a difference, but it might...

yours,
Sheila

Hi Raymond,

First, how did you like the cover for Sasquatch in the Paint? I thought it had a cheerful wholesomeness to it yet still focused on the basketball angle. The yellow lights around the kid based on me made him look like he’d been sprinkled by Tinker Bell and was flying to Neverland. Probably because Disney is the publisher. But it still looks pretty cool.

We’re supposed to be receiving a check from Hyperion-Disney soon so I’ll have Deborah send you a check as soon as it arrives. Writing this book was so much fun I feel a little like we stole the money. But only a little bit.

Let’s get together next week and start work on the next one. I have an idea I think you’ll like, but I want to work out some of the details first.

How Gay Stars Have Come Out

$

00
In just the last few years, there has been a cultural shift in how Americans view same-sex unions. A recent poll found that today more Americans support gay marriage than oppose it compared to 2008, when 58 percent of Americans opposed it — and one cause for this is how outspoken public figures have become about their own sexuality.

There are a growing number of stars who have paved the way for gay people everywhere by coming out, including Frank Ocean, Anderson Cooper, and Jodie Foster, who came out at the Golden Globes in January. Be inspired with these celebrities who've used magazines, talk shows, and their blogs to come out!

00
Anderson Cooper
In 2012 Anderson Cooper emailed The Daily Beast's Andrew Sullivan thoughts on his sexual orientation and gave Sullivan permission to print the email in his column. In part, it read: "I've always believed that who a reporter votes for, what religion they are, who they love, should not be something they have to discuss publicly. As long as a journalist shows fairness and honesty in his or her work, their private life shouldn't matter. Recently, however, I’ve begun to consider whether the unintended outcomes of maintaining my privacy outweigh personal and professional principle. The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."

00
Neil Patrick Harris
In 2006, NPH told People he's gay, saying, "I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest." The Doogie Howser, M.D and How I Met Your Mother actor is engaged to partner David Burtka and a father to twins!

000
Ellen DeGeneres
It was a whirlwind of coming out for comedian, actress, and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in 1997. She came out publicly on The Oprah Winfrey Show, appeared on the cover of Time magazine with the quote, "Yep, I'm gay," and then her character on the sitcom Ellen came out to her therapist, who was played by Oprah!

000
Frank Ocean
Last year, hip-hop singer Frank Ocean revealed his first love to be a man in a heartfelt Tumblr post. He avoided using the words "gay" or "bisexual," but wrote: "I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that Summer, and the Summer after, together. Everyday almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I'd see him, and his smile. I'd hear his conversation and his silence . . . until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless."

000
Jason Collins
NBA center Jason Collins made history in April 2013 when he became the first male US athlete in a major professional sport to come out as gay. He addressed his sexuality in an interview for Sports Illustrated, telling the magazine, "I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, 'I'm different.' If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand." He recently marched in the 2013 Boston Pride Parade alongside his former Stanford University roommate, Congressman Joe Kennedy, who tweeted a photo of the fun and called it a day he'd "never forget."

Madonna Is Not Here For Islamic Moralists

Never one to hold her tongue or suppress her thoughts, Madonna used Instagram to respond to recent criticism about a photo she posted. The image showed the pop superstar wearing a chainmail mask that some people say resembles the face garb worn by Muslim women.

The caption accompanying the chainmail mask photo read, "The Revolution of Love is on...Inshallah." In Arabic, Inshallah means "God willing."

Madonna is currently dating a man who is Muslim. Even so, some followers believed Madonna was criticizing Islamic countries' oppression of women or homosexuality. She responded as such:

"I am an artist and a freedom fighter!" Madonna wrote in the note (see below) uploaded in an Instagram photo on July 4. "I have always fought for Freedom of Expression and human rights in general! If you don't like what I have to say or do then simply stop following me on Instagram! It's so simple."

The message is in response to critics of her July 2 Instagram photo (above) and likely other images, such as one posted in May where she was photographed holding a gun. She has also been building a school in Pakistan

It's no secret Josh Hutcherson is a huge advocate for lgbtq rights. Josh Hutcherson sent out a passive agressive tweet reminding people to just be nice to others. Rumor has it that this tweet was targeted to someone who sent nasty remarks to his friend's, Avan Jogia, charity Straight But Not Narrow. Others think that the message was directed toward his two thirsty ex-girlfriends, Shannon Wada and Lanchen Mihalic. What do you think, ONTD?

Rihanna was booed on the second day of Roskilde festival last night (July 5) after she arrived 30 minutes late for her set.

The Danish festival got underway on Thursday of this week (July 4) with Rihanna playing on the Orange Stage yesterday evening, but she was jeered by punters for turning up onstage half-an-hour after her slot was scheduled to begin.

Sporting a baseball jersey with the word 'Poison' emblazed on it, she began her performance with the track 'Phresh Out The Runaway' from her most recent album 'Unapologetic' before running through a set that included 'Birthday Cake' and 'Talk That Talk'. "Wow! What the fuck? Denmark, this shit is crazy," she told the crowd, before delivering renditions of 'Pour It Up', 'My Love Is Your Love', 'Man Down' and 'Rude Boy'.

Paying tribute to the festival's fans, she later said to them by way of introducing 'Say My Name': "Denmark, I love you man. I feel the love, Denmark. I don't just say these things. There's just one thing you have to do right now, and that's to say my name." She signed off by performing a medley of hits which included 'Take A Bow', 'We Found Love', 'S&M', 'Only Girl In The World' and 'Don't Stop The Music', and later returned for an encore of 'Stay' and 'Diamonds'.

The opening day of the festival, meanwhile, had seen Sheffield duo Drenge play their first gig in Denmark on the Pavilion Stage. Siblings Rory and Eoin Loveless – who made the headlines this week after being described as an "awesome band" by MP Tom Watson in his open letter declaring his resignation from the Shadow Cabinet – ripped through a frenetic set. They were then followed by Savages, with the post-punk outfit delivering a similarly intense performance - although they did have to pause briefly after singer Jehnny Beth forgot the words to 'I Am Here'. "It happens, you know," she told the crowd. "It just happened right now. I'm tired."

Jake Bugg drew a large crowd to his set at the Odeon Stage, which he kicked off with 'Fire', 'Kentucky' and 'Love Me The Way You Do'. The Nottingham singer-songwriter played a glut of songs from his debut album in addition to acoustic renditions of 'Country Song' and 'Broken' and new tracks 'All Your Reasons' and 'Slumville Sunrise', which he also performed at Glastonbury last weekend. He closed his set with his single 'Lightning Bolt'.

Roskilde is set to continue today with performances from Metallica, The National and Sigur Ros, while Sunday's line-up includes Queens Of The Stone Age, Azealia Banks and Kraftwerk.

Mathew Knowles got hitched last Sunday, but TMZ has learned neither of his daughter ... Beyonce nor Solange ... was in attendance for the big day.

Knowles tied the knot to Gena Avery in Houston, TX following a year and a half engagement.

But the newly-hitched Knowles tells TMZ his famous kids couldn't make it to the ceremony, saying, "Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend."

Mathew officially divorced Tina Knowles back in 2011, though Tina originally filed in 2009.
