Have you ever wondered what goes into making a song that compares a lover to a brother (under the covers)? Now, thanks to corporate sponsorship by AT&T and DirectTV, you can! Today marks the launch of Making of a Song on Taylor Swift NOW (the all Taylor Swift on-demand channel launched last year) which chronicles the making of reputation through mini-documentaries. In episode 2, Taylor works with outspoken Trump critic Jack Antonoff to create the final promo single from the album, "Call it What You Want." The video, that was shot on an iPhone and lasts less than 4 minutes, is supposed to be a Taylor Swift NOW exclusive and will likely be removed from Youtube because this is something that only fans with money are entitled to.

Lars Von Trier Collaborator Under Investigation for Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault & Bullying

I’m sorry, it’s another post about trash men in Hollywood. I understand these posts can be very taxing on a lot of us and if you need a break from this, practice self-care. Look at these kittens. Do a google image search for cats in doll beds or cool dogs wearing sunglasses (highly recommend both).

So here we go. Nine former Zentropa employees spoke out on the systemic degradation and humiliation they experienced at the hands of co-founders Lars Von Trier and Peter Albæk Jensen, the latter of whom served as CEO. You can read the full report at Politeken (It’s in English, not Danish). The former employees describe a toxic work environment where trainees were forced to perform humiliating acts, including stripping down, for bonuses. Jensen is also accused of groping and asking to spank female employees. He made employees fetch sex toys and strangely requested they vaccinate his pigs (??). The company is now under investigation by Danish authorities as a direct result of this story.

Writer and journalist Anne Mette Lundtofte worked for Zentropa for three years and confirmed the accusers’ accounts: “Here I saw women being degraded. According to the Zentropa propaganda, I would be part of an ‘alternative work culture’, but in reality, I encountered an old-fashioned, patriarchal power structure.”

Jensen was asked for comment and claimed to not remember the alleged incidents but says they “probably happened.” He went on to make this statement and the unlikely claim that he was an adored leader.

“I’ll say this: I have no interest in submission and degradation. I’m interested in testing boundaries, especially where the red line is. There have been plenty of times when I’ve been over the top or gone too far. And I stand by that fully. But the question is whether you are an adored leader or not. And I am an adored leader …”
.

He left the company in 2016. Current CEO Anders Kjærhauge claims, “This does not match my perception and this picture does not correspond to the Zentropa that I know.”

The article mostly focuses on Jensen’s actions, but remember that Björk recently opened up about the harassment she received at the hands of “a Danish director.” She does not explicitly name Lars Von Trier, but she has only worked with one Danish director.

  • Miller's production company was supposed to get a $7 mil bonus if they came in under budget

  • Miller is suing because his company says they did come in under budget while WB is claiming they went over budget

  • Lots of complicated shady accounting on both sides

  • The lawsuit was filed in Australia in September, WB tried to get it taken over to California for arbitration but were denied

  • With Miller's production company and the WB in legal battle things don't look so good for the Furiosa sequel that Miller said he wanted to make after Fury Road

Team Miller, I don't trust studio accountants. I need WB to settle so we can get that Furiosa sequel!

Louis C.K.'s former manager, Dave Becky, apologizes for silencing women

$

  • In the original NY Times story in which 5 women talked about Louis C.K. sexually harassing them, two also spoke out about his powerful manager, Dave Becky, intimidating them into silence

  • Becky released a statement apologizing to the two women, Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov

  • Becky says he's releasing the statement so that others can learn from his mistakes, also says that he heard about what Louis C.K. had done "third-hand" and thought he was helping to cover up a consensual affair

I profoundly regret and am deeply sorry for not listening to and not understanding what happened to Dana and Julia. If I had, I would have taken this event as seriously as it deserved to be, and I would have confronted Louis, which would have been the right thing to do.

I am providing this context so that others do not make the same mistake I did. At that time, I heard the story third-hand, and I interpreted the conversation as two women telling a story about a sexual encounter with a then-married Louis. Albeit enormously embarrassing, in no way did I interpret the interaction as threatening or non-consensual. I misperceived the casual way the story was portrayed to me – instead I should have recognized that it must have been a mask for their unease and discomfort in the face of his detestable behavior. My intent was to seek discretion to protect what I thought was a matter of infidelity. I now comprehend that my response was perceived as a threat to cover-up sexual misconduct. This is not an excuse. What I did was wrong, and again, I am extremely sorry.

In hindsight, I was operating blindly from a one-sided place of privilege. Until last week, I knew only of this one isolated incident. Although this may sound naïve, it is true. Never once, in all of these years, did anyone mention any of the other incidents that were reported recently — I am appalled to learn of these. I have come to realize my status wielded an atmosphere where such news did not reach me, or worse yet, that it seemed such news did not matter to me. It does. It matters tremendously.

I am going to take time to reflect on this, to educate myself daily, and to strive towards a more enlightened path. I want to ensure that all voices around me are heard, and that everyone is treated respectfully and empathetically. More than anything, I want to create an environment that is a better, safer and fairer place.

Sincerely,

Dave Becky

- He confirmed that it's not going to happen.
- The movie was going to take place during the ascension of fascism in Italy, with Mussolini: "It was a good time to discuss the idea of being a puppet or being a human.
- His fascination with Pinocchio is related to his interest in Frankenstein: “They are both about creatures that are created and then get lost in a world they don’t understand,” he said. “And they are both journeys of understanding, and journeys of evolution of the spirit.
- RIP.

On Finding Filming For The Last Jedi To Be Much More Pressure Than The first Star Wars Movie
'I didn't think I was good in the first film, and I was struggling with that.'

On How Having Fewer Scenes With Co-Star John Boyega In The Second Star Wars Briefly Stressed Her Out
'It's not this big adventure that I'm on with John [unlike the first movie]. I was thinking I did the first one because I didn't really know what I was getting myself into and I was having loads of fun, and suddenly I'm realising what this actually is, and I can't f**king do this. I'm highly dramatic – so it's all 'oh my God'…finally I was like 'Oh yeah, this is working.''

On Dealing With The Medical Condition Endometriosis
'I was in my flat going nuts, and then my skin got really bad in the stress of it all, and I hadn't been well – I had holes in my gut wall and stuff – and we were trying to figure out what to do with that because I'd felt poorly.'

On Meeting Barbara Streisand And Featuring In Her 2016 Album 'Encore'
'I went to her house and we talked about [psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl] Jung because my dad loves Jung, and we were talking about dreams, and I left and got super emotional, not because she's famous, but because she's amazing. Part of her reputation comes from being a woman. If it was a man being 'controlling' about his career, people would just say he knows what he wants.'

Billboard: "When Did Feminism Become a Job Requirement for Female Pop Stars?"

$

Billboard has published a piece on their site discussing feminism with pop stars.
- Says the movement started Beyoncé when released her self titled album that embraced feminism and she also performed with the word FEMINIST in lights behind her
- Journalists then began asking every female pop star the same question: “Are you a feminist?"
- Points out how Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Beyoncé all previously said “no” until late 2013
- Says Swift gets critiqued for her "spineless" feminism when she is one of the few pop stars "to engage in an actual feminist act—suing a former radio host whom she accused of groping her, delivering unwavering testimony against him"
- Says now every "pop star’s every action is analyzed for its feminist purity"; from people saying Beyoncé's marriage isn't feminist to Lorde and Selena Gomez arguing over whose not doing feminism right
- Basically, says pop stars aren't women’s studies scholars, and we shouldn't expect them to be. Concludes by saying that it's "counterproductive to write off every successful woman who doesn’t measure up to some impossible feminist ideal."
